Chapter 54 Rebels Attack
Chapter 54 Rebels Attack
The edge of the Amatra system.
A large number of spots of different colors suddenly appeared in Mandeville. The space was constantly distorting. The power from the non-material world tore open the shackles of the curtain, and an unprecedentedly huge subspace tunnel appeared in the cold void.
Almost in the blink of an eye, battleships and cruisers leapt back to the real universe. They swarmed out from Mandeville Point, followed by extremely huge and terrifying warships.
Two huge trident-shaped metal structures with a length of about 35 kilometers slowly squeezed out of the subspace.
The surrounding small warships kept a safe distance from the two behemoths to avoid being pulled over by the huge mass effect and smashed into a ball of flaming scrap metal.
The two sister ships of the Abyss Fury, the Trinitarian Prayer and the Blessed Lady, finally arrived in the Amatra galaxy. They are slightly different in appearance, but have one thing in common: their combat power surpasses that of the Queen of Glory-class battleships.
This unprecedented huge warship is not even suitable to be described as a sharp spear or a sharp blade. It is more like a trident-shaped floating fortress.
The jagged structure in the middle wraps around its core, and the large number of plasma engines spread across the tail continue to converge from the stern to the bow.
The warship's pointed bow was large enough to rival the entirety of a smaller ship, and its flanks were dotted with laser cannon arrays and deep holes for macro cannons, ready to launch deadly attacks at any time.
It is a malevolent entity fashioned from steel, born to bring destruction and death to its enemies.
Following these two ships of destruction came the Word Bearers' Queen of Glory-class ship, Truth's Ruler, and the World Eaters' Conqueror. These two ships also looked very small in front of the Abyssal Fury-class ships, but they were also the most terrifying weapons.
As expected, the rebels would never let Amatra go. Most of their fleets were on their way, and they made no effort to conceal their assembly movements.
This is extremely arrogant and conceited. The rebel army formed by the Word Bearers and the World Eaters has no worries about being attacked. This is an absolute gap in strength.
Led by two Deep Fury-class battleships, hundreds of warships formed a formation and advanced towards the planet Amatra.
Such a huge commotion naturally immediately triggered the highest alert of the Amatra defense system. The asteroid defense circles and star fortresses distributed on the edge of the star immediately locked onto the target and opened fire. The long-accumulated anger began to be released towards the traitors who were gathering.
The weapons array was firing at full capacity, and within three seconds of spotting the enemy, wave after wave of barrages were screaming out, each of them more powerful than Calth's orbital weapons system.
Guilliman transported a large number of defense systems to Amatra, setting traps to kill as many rebels as possible.
Physical ammunition and energy weapons from the light spear array crisscrossed to form a dazzling defensive network that flickered in the dark void.
From time to time, the rebel warships were hit in vital parts by huge ground-based anti-aircraft guns, and the flames from the instantaneous explosion of the reactor could even illuminate the night sky.
However, as the Trinitarian and the Blessed Lady advanced, the guns designed to deal with ordinary ships were much less effective.
The void shields of these two warships were unprecedentedly thick, and they were still in good condition an hour after launching the attack.
In space naval battles, without overloading the void shield, there is no way to penetrate physical armor.
The weapon systems of the two giant battleships also began to fight back. The bombardment of macro cannons and the array of light spears destroyed the floating star fortresses. The power of the weapons they carried exceeded the main weapons of the Queen of Glory-class battleships. At this moment, the terrifying firepower was launched on the defense line of the loyalists.
The space was littered with scattered metal debris, and human corpses were frozen into ice sculptures in the extreme cold, turning into countless fragments in fragile collisions.
The Imperial fleet launched a desperate charge while the enemy was busy dealing with the hard-to-move void fortresses and star fort systems.
The only dozens of warships in the Amatra system formed a fleet, and they overloaded their engine output in order to increase the hit rate of macro cannons and torpedoes within a closer firing range.
After a round of extreme damage, the fearless warriors even proactively reduced their warships' speeds, simultaneously targeting the two Abyssal Fury-class warships with their scanning arrays and ramming their void shields. All the captains knew they couldn't possibly escape the rebels, let alone the thought of running away.
Nothing more than death.
The concentrated fire finally caused the enemy's void shield to overload and fluctuate. On the spine of the Blessed Lady, a magnificent blasphemous church burst into flames. Those were the marks of the attack from the light spears. Thousands of cultists wailed as they were engulfed in flames.
The high pressure inside the ship caused flames to continue to pour out, but the Lady Blessed did not hesitate at all. She continued to break through the defenses of the Extreme Marines with only minor injuries.
Its size allows it to completely ignore some injuries that are as itchy as it is painful.
Some cultists died in the flames. The raging flames and extremely high temperatures caused by the collision of the light spears and the metal were enough to evaporate most of the flesh and blood life.
The remaining believers fanatically ignored the death of their companions and even regarded it as a wonderful sacrifice. They chanted the name of Great Word Bearer Lorgar, read aloud the holy words written by the Primarch, and prayed to the great existence in the High Heaven.
Lines of defense were shattered in the face of the enemy's irresistible force. Countless soldiers fought bravely until the last moment, until their warships or fortifications were blown apart by enemy fire and then completely crushed by the steel hull.
Lorgar stood on the flagship, the scepter in his hand pointing at the fully armed Amatra.
"Warriors, take this planet for me. It will become the best sacrifice for the gods. The destructive storm set off by the great existence will be completely fixed because of this sacrifice. For the original truth!"
The shadowy voice of the Hand of Fate, High Priest of the Word Bearers, echoed in the Primarch's ears.
"Let the World Eaters take over this planet. Meaningless slaughter does not please the Chaos Gods. We need blood, bones, and endless suffering as sacrifices!"
"The souls on this planet are of sufficient quality that the gods will be pleased with this sacrifice, my lord."
The Primarch's eyes were filled with chaotic light, but on the other side of him, the seat that belonged to his adoptive father Kor Phaeron was empty.
Erebus looked at the vacant seat with pride. The troublesome Kor Phaeron died in Calth, and he no longer had to spend energy dealing with that annoying old man.
In the entire Word Bearers Legion, Kor Phaeron is the only one who has the ability and ambition to pose a threat to Erebus. Although the opponent is not as insidious as Erebus, Kor Phaeron holds a unique position in the Primarch's heart.
A large part of Lorgar Aurelion's worldview was shaped by Kor Phaeron.
Amatra's defense lines were destroyed, and the enemy's huge warships had already landed in the planet's low-Earth orbit.
On the surface of the planet, huge void shields stand tall. They are enough to withstand the relentless bombardment from orbit and prevent destruction from coming.
But this was exactly what the traitors had expected, and destroying Amatra by orbital bombardment was not a priority either in terms of time or ritual.
There were many growths on the surface of each plane, and the hideous and terrifying Terror Claw drop pods fell from the sky, and the dazzling flames were as numerous as a meteor shower.
These drop pods carry at least a squadron of Space Marines, and few anti-aircraft weapons are capable of shooting down these giants that are so fast that they are difficult to capture.
The Astartes from the World Eaters and the Word Bearers have officially arrived on Amatra.
