Chapter 67: A New Kahn

The Shadow Crusade that swept across the five hundred worlds of Ultramar has caused dozens of worlds to burn.

Wherever the Word Bearers and the World Eaters went, all those who resisted were brutally massacred, while those who chose to surrender and survive were taken away on huge warships to be used as slaves and stored as sacrifices.

If the World Eaters were unable to resist their own desire for killing, they, under the leadership of their Primarch Angron, completely sank into the Butcher's Nails. Many planets that were not on the Shadow Crusade's must-pass route were also destroyed by simple bloodthirstiness.

The Word Bearers carried out their ritual of destruction step by step, exactly as planned by the Primarch. Their goal was clear: to please the gods of the Warp required the death of lives and hundreds of billions of remembered souls as sacrifices.

In this dark tide, Amatra is the only bright light, standing between the traitors and Macragge, like a mainstay in resisting the offensive of the rebels.

The once prosperous Core World had been suffering in the flames of war for two Terra moons. The prosperous and magnificent ancient buildings had been razed to the ground, and the forests and oceans had long been completely evaporated by orbital bombardment. Only a few large cities still survived under the protection of void shields.

"Sir, yesterday's loss report has come out. We lost more than 435 mortal auxiliary troops. The void shields of positions 522 to were destroyed by the enemy's Space Marine infiltration. All auxiliary troops have been evaporated under the enemy's orbital bombardment."

"The Word Bearers released demons from the Warp onto the battlefield. Some of the enemy's Titans became demonic, and the Edgewatch Titan Legion suffered heavy casualties."

The commander's attitude was indifferent. He just nodded, signed his name on the list of casualties, and then ordered the command to mobilize enough soldiers from the reserve army to fill the lost positions.

"What about the Astartes? How many have we lost."

"Seventy-eight battle brothers, most of whom were warriors who did not have time to change into adamantium armor."

Orfeo sighed. They never stood still and waited to die. In fact, dozens of killing teams sneaked into the city that had been completely reduced to ruins every day, using sniping, assassination, ambush and other methods to harass and reduce the enemy's numbers.

They would use genetic detection nerves to obtain partial memories of fallen World Eaters and Word Bearers, and upload them to the command center for intelligence summary.

Every move of the enemy must be closely monitored, and the staff of the command center will use the known intelligence and the deduction of the Thinker system to deduce the enemy's strategic movements.

"What conclusions have the headquarters staff reached? Have the enemy's movements been ascertained?"

The commander threw out question after question, and the adjutant answered them one by one in an orderly manner. The day-to-day conversations had already made them extremely proficient.

“We have collected 31 pieces of intelligence. After comparing and investigating them, we have confirmed that Angron and Lorgar have both arrived in Amatra, but their exact locations are unknown.

Staff Officer Erwin believes that the enemy is accumulating strength for a decisive attack, which can be judged from the fact that the enemy has begun to tighten its offensive.

"The Barrett Think Tank believes that the enemy may be conducting a large-scale psychic ritual. The probability of our soldiers witnessing demons on the battlefield is skyrocketing."

After the Battle of Calth, the existence of demons was no longer a secret among the Ultramarines. Hill had already formulated an anti-demon tactic within hours of the start of the war.

This set of tactics has been supplemented and iterated by many staff and think tanks including the Primarch, and has long since formed a complete confrontation system.

Systematization and institutionalization are the strongest advantages of the Extreme Warriors. When they face the same enemy again after learning enough lessons, victory will be completely in their hands.

The Think Tank was a combat unit that had just been reorganized. The Primarch mentioned the excellent effect of psychic power against demonic enemies, but due to the tight time schedule, Orfeo could only select those veterans in Amatra who were forced to ban the use of psychic power after the Conference of Nikea.

And there were no more than 20 of these hastily restored think tank units in the entire Amatra.

Moreover, the psychic levels of these think tanks are not very high. Even the strongest one can only release psychic fire and psychic lightning in battle, and use his own psychic power to interfere with the trajectory of the enemy's bombs.

Because of the restrictions of the Nikea Edict, these psyker Astartes veterans were even ignored by the Chapter before this battle. Some of them chose to suppress their psychic powers and continue fighting, while others chose to maintain those precious records and knowledge in the library of the Chapter monastery.

"Let the Librarians be on standby to execute the plan. We must try to behead Angron or Lorgar, otherwise when the Primarch arrives, he will be faced with two traitorous brothers." Orfeo knocked on the table firmly. The initiative of the war must be in our hands.

"I understand. My fellow combatants are already prepared." The adjutant clenched his fists. He understood the consequences of this order.

-

Kahn walks on the battlefield.

The captain of the Eighth Company, who had undergone a transformation, possessed a thrilling new posture. The technical sergeants of the legion had almost completely modified the Terminator Armor so that it could barely accommodate the current Kahn.

When wearing armor, Kahn was over three meters and a half tall, with muscles as hard and cold as ceramic steel. Even those World Eaters veterans with shaky brains would subconsciously keep a distance from him.

Because when they were exposed to Kahn's sight, their remaining subconscious was almost madly warning that Kahn might use his chainsaw axe to chop off their heads at any time.

Apart from Anglete, almost no one was willing to fight alongside Kahn.

On the battlefield, Kahn and his close friends were charging recklessly at the front line. Angertai, transformed into a demon, was advancing under the fire of the Ultramar Auxiliary Army. They closed the distance and broke into the mortal positions to kill indiscriminately.

With a few random chops, Angertai chopped those well-equipped Amatra people into pieces on the ground. He looked at the last warrior who was already a little mentally broken with a smile.

"Shoot me in the head with your powerful incendiary guns."

The half-human, half-demon giant approached step by step. The mortal soldier finally broke through the last bit of his sanity and fired continuously at Anglete's forehead with his incendiary gun.

But at this distance, Angertai turned into an afterimage like a ghost. The beam of the incendiary gun was only a millimeter away from him, but it was a distance that could not be crossed.

The golden spear crossed the final distance, and the Guardian Spear from the Custodians pierced the mortal's flesh and nailed him to the wall of the position. Even after completing the re-equipment, these elite Ultramar auxiliary troops were still like lambs to the slaughter in front of the enchanted warriors of the Word Bearers.

Angertai pulled out the blood-stained imperial guard spear. This weapon of the Emperor's guard was extremely sharp, but he did not like its overly shiny shape.

As the body fell, Angertai suddenly heard the sound of the safety pin falling off, and the Word Bearers escaped from the attack range of the high-energy explosive grenade almost at the speed of teleportation.

Before he died, the old soldier detonated the grenade in his arms, trying to take Anglete to hell with him.

"Although you and I are enemies, your courage is indeed incomparable to those bastards around me." Angertai seemed to sigh, holding the spear and following in the direction of Kahn.

Kahn, who had disappeared on the battlefield, was now rushing towards a Sikaran-type battle tank belonging to the Ultramarines in a furious manner. The fierce firepower of the Heracross-type high-speed automatic cannon was continuously firing at the World Eaters rushing towards him.

Thanks to the excellent fire control system, the Sikaran tank captured the fast-sprinting Kahn and was able to output twenty powerful metal bullets per second, which could easily wipe out a small mortal army.

"Aim, aim! He's coming!" the driver shouted in the cabin, ordering the gunner to fire at full power.

"Die, you World Eater bastard!"

What shocked the Sikaran tank crew was that the gigantic World Eater actually withstood the firepower of the automatic cannon head-on. He was not even wearing a helmet, nor was he protected by any deflection armor such as the Iron Halo.

The distance between Kahn and the tank was rapidly closing. The tank commander witnessed through the observation window that the powerful warheads seemed to be stuck in stagnant time and space the moment they hit the enemy.

They seemed to be stopped by something, simply crashing into the World Eaters' power armor and falling powerlessly into the hot mud.

"My Lord, what the hell is this!"

The screams of mortals were drowned out by the teeth-grinding sound of metal being torn apart.

Kahn was not afraid of long-range artillery fire at all. After completing the enchantment ritual, the captain of the Eighth Company had terrifying resistance to long-range weapons. Even being hit by a ray from an incendiary gun was no longer a fatal threat to him.

Something from the warp had transformed it, and the eye that Kahn had always seen was staring at him constantly.

His brain was in chaos, with only the brain tissue spasming under the stimulation of the Butcher's Nails releasing the command of slaughter and blood.

Khan wielded his newly acquired chainsaw axe, a dangerous weapon blessed by the Word Bearers that now displayed incredible power. He climbed onto the roof of the tank, and the monomolecular saw teeth tore at the top armor of the Sikaran tank.

Even a chainsaw axe would not have such destructive power against such a heavily armored vehicle.

The hybrid armor of ceramic steel and plastic steel was constantly torn apart by Kahn's axe. He quickly opened the spiral hatch on the roof, tore open enough of it, and then drilled directly in.

What followed were shrill screams as the crew members faced the brutal killing of the World Eaters and were slaughtered in an instant.

When Kahn returned to the battlefield again, he had seven or eight skinned heads on his waist, tied with iron chains and swinging back and forth.

He stood high on the wreckage of the tank, holding up the heads that were strung together. An indescribable roar echoed, and Kahn felt a more powerful force surging through his body, passing through his blood and bone marrow and flowing through his body.

The eye saw his carnage and approved, but then the whisper came back, hungry for more heads, more blood.

"Blood sacrifice..., skull..."

Kahn, covered in blood, threw the meaningless head aside. A strong impulse accumulated in his chest, and he almost instinctively shouted out that battle cry.

"Kahn!" Angerte arrived and called on Kahn to go to the next battlefield.

Kahn held back the battle cry that was about to come out of his mouth and looked at Angerte in the distance in a daze. He vaguely felt that he was being manipulated by some invisible will, but he had no idea.

The Word Bearer looked at the changes in his best friend and began to have a bad premonition.

Even those Blessed Sons who were successfully enchanted would not have such terrifying combat power. Kahn was able to destroy an armored vehicle by himself, which was no longer something an Astartes could do.

And his demon brother Raum was even more hesitant about Kahn's affairs and was unwilling to reveal any information, which further magnified Angertai's uneasiness.

"Kahn!" a strange voice yelled, "You coward!"

The World Eaters and the Word Bearers all looked in the direction of the sound. A team of Ultramarines in cobalt blue armor finally arrived. They were all elite veterans wearing adamantium armor.

Angertai laughed and said to Kahn: "It seems they are here to find you."

Kahn's bloodshot eyes swept over these extreme warriors, and the voice beside his ear suddenly became excited.

He was ecstatic, He was eager, He wanted Kahn to offer the heads of these powerful men.

For this, He can grant Kahn more power.
