Warhammer: Don't Call Me the God of All Machines
Chapter 768 The Nine-Headed Serpent Reappears
Chapter 768 The Shadow of the Hydra Reappears (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
Even though he was delirious from the corruption of warp energy, Erin Duke still felt that the situation before him was utterly absurd.
He had known Damien for several months, and he had confirmed that Damien was an ordinary commoner from the bottom of Nostramore's hive.
The safest course of action Erin could think of under the current circumstances was to lure him to his side and then offer him as a sacrifice in exchange for the revelation of the Silverweaver.
If Erin performs too brilliantly and attracts too much attention, it's hard to guarantee that it won't arouse the suspicion of the Night Lords.
They're not the kind of people who reason with others; the best way to deal with suspects is to physically eliminate them.
Better to kill a thousand innocent people than let one guilty person go free.
But how the hell did this commoner become a giant over three meters tall?
Moreover, he was quite certain that he had just been able to grab the other man by the throat, using pure brute force to lift him up and then slam him onto the loom of fate.
How could he possibly lift such a giant?
Also, where did his weapons come from?
As the heir to the ancient Duke family, Erin possessed a wide range of knowledge, and he had already discerned the origin of the giant's power armor, which resembled snake scales.
This is the unique mark of the Twentieth Legion Alpha, a traitor to the Empire.
By the Emperor, why is there still a traitor from the Alpha Legion hiding in Nostradamus?
When Erin thought of the Emperor, his body suddenly felt as if it were being scorched by boiling flames, and thick black smoke billowed out.
Although he and his family worshipped the Silverweavers, Erin didn't really think it was a big deal.
They don't worship any warp god; the Silverweaver is a benevolent being who bestowed upon the Duke family the glorious history of their rise.
The entire human empire, even the emperors probably don't know how many different faiths there are.
Different human worlds have naturally developed a wide variety of unique beliefs due to their different histories, cultures, and political systems.
Even the same belief, after developing and evolving in different worlds, will eventually become something else entirely.
"idiot!"
"How could you even imagine, let alone call out the name of the cursed one?"
"You fucking Chaos believer, doing this kind of thing is like asking for trouble."
The two heads of the Silverweaver reached a rare consensus, cursing incessantly while using their staffs to help Erin extinguish the golden flames on his body.
The only saving grace is that Nostramo is already at the edge of the Imperial Torch's coverage area; any further away, the Ghoul Cluster will be outside this range.
It was only through the barrier of this secret chamber, meticulously crafted and maintained through centuries of continuous rituals by the Duke family, that the Silverweaver was able to save this foolish young man.
Of course, this is not because it has suddenly become kind-hearted. For a warp demon, kindness is the most despicable insult.
The Duke family is involved in its grand plan; this is a strategic move that has been in the works for hundreds of years, and it would be a real shame to let it go to waste.
While it is equally pleased with the unexpected changes, the Silverweaver will still feel frustrated and saddened if the changes are detrimental to it, and will intervene.
Erin barely escaped the agony of being burned alive. He stared at Damian in utter terror. If the other was the so-called child of the cursed, then he was—
"I am Omega."
The bald giant wielding the pale spear answered before Erin could respond.
"Damn it, are you Damian or Alpharex?!"
However, Erling seemed to have crashed, completely ignoring what the other person was saying.
He was simply recalling the information deep within his memory.
The Primarch of the Alpha Legion, Hydra Alpharis, encountered Rogue Dorn who came to reinforce Hydra during the Sun Wars and was beheaded by him with Stormfang.
Primarchs are rarely killed by their own brothers in battle, which is why Erin was particularly impressed by this.
From a young age, he was particularly interested in the legends of the Primarchs, and could even skillfully recount their life stories and ultimate fates.
As far as he knew, the original genetic prototype of the Alpha Legion was clearly Alpharis.
"Yes, that must be it. You must have sneaked in next to me while we were landing at the orbital space station in Tenes and replaced that idiot Damien."
"Otherwise, you couldn't have stayed by my side all this time; it's simply impossible!"
"Why, why did you have to lurk beside me?"
Erling was talking to himself like a hysterical psychopath.
"why not?"
Omega ran his hands over the pale spear, as if recalling something.
"It's just a simple disguise and infiltration. Using psychic energy to change one's appearance is never an impossible thing."
“You’re right, I did replace Damian, but that was a long, long time ago, probably after he died when he was seven years old while searching for food. I became Damian.”
"I possess his memories, his emotions, his identity, and I have sealed away my own memories."
“I really lived a normal life for ten years, being beaten by thugs, starving in the cold and dark den, and watching my ‘father’ die of illness.”
Omega said nonchalantly, then twirled his Pale Spear in a beautiful flourish.
"You've been lying low for ten years? Just for this day?" Erin asked incredulously.
He preferred to believe that the Primarch had acted on a whim and replaced Damian rather than believe that the Primarch had been planning this for so long.
What is so special about him that he is worthy of a Primarch spending ten years, even hiding his identity, in the process?
Although he was proud of his Duke family identity, compared to a Primarch, he was nothing more than the heir of a noble family in Nostramore!
He was just arrogant, not stupid.
"It's just patience; I never lack it."
"Problems that can be solved with patience are not really problems."
Omega slowly approached. Although he was only a little over three meters tall, the pressure and aura he exuded instantly made Erin feel as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
It wasn't a murderous aura, but rather an indescribable, amusing feeling.
"Aren't you afraid that if the Empire finds out about this, they'll hunt you down?"
“If you kill me, you will inevitably leave traces, and then there will be a possibility that you will be discovered.”
"The Alpha Legion are all traitors! You have all been nailed to the pillar of the Empire's shame!"
Omega remained noncommittal upon hearing Erling's rebuttal.
He neither agreed nor disagreed, but simply maintained an air of mystery and elusiveness.
Omega raised his pale spear, the cold glint of its tip instantly sending shivers down Erin's spine.
“Wait, we can cooperate. I am backed by the Silverweaver, who holds many of the world’s secrets and can change the fate of us mortals.”
"It can help you, help you escape the Empire's pursuit, don't you want that?"
The last surviving member of the Duke family sensed the approach of death, causing his heart to pound and his adrenaline to surge as he frantically tried to find a way to survive.
But Omega ignored him completely, piercing his heart with a spear and then casually tossing him to the ground.
"Although I don't want to share the same views as this ever-changing demon lord, there is one thing I admit."
"You...you really are an idiot."
The Pale Spear's special power drained Erin's life force, causing him to slowly die.
This painstakingly plotted family revenge was actually planned and executed by many people long ago.
"Even if I hadn't interfered, do you really think you could have a fair trade with Carlos the Weaver of Fates?"
"It was never the Silver Weaver of Fate, it was the apostle of the usurper of the heavens, the Weaver of Fate Carlos!"
"It helped your family rise to prominence and prosperity, but when it demands a price from you, everything your family owns will fall into the clutches of the devil."
Erin's eyes slowly dimmed; his soul had been completely annihilated by the Pale Spear's special power, which could be considered a not-so-bad ending.
Carlos was not angry when Omega exposed his identity. He maintained his Silver Weaver appearance and even clapped his hands to congratulate Omega.
“Brilliant, brilliant, son of the cursed, when did you begin tracing this nail I planted?”
"I thought the Duke family would be very secretive, so how did you come to notice this family?"
Carlos asked with some curiosity, realizing that his plan had failed.
In its plan, the Duke family was supposed to become an anchor point for the Bishops of Change faction.
These people will spread the Chaos faith throughout Nostramore's hive and, at crucial moments, betray the Eighth Legion.
Conrad Coates defied the will of fate; he even dared to slap fate in the face with his own death.
And one of the names of the Lord of All Changes is the Weaver of Fate.
Tzeentch can see the trajectory of fate, but he never stops at mere observation.
He prefers to intervene in the course of fate, pushing it in a more interesting direction.
However, if we were to delve deeper, Tzeentch is not the master of fate; that is not a realm that a Chaos God could control.
Even when the Lord of Changes was at his most powerful, wielding the Staff of Destiny and overpowering his brothers, he was still forced by the other three Chaos Powers to self-destruct his weapon in exchange for peace.
If Tzeentch truly had complete control over the course of fate, then the other three Chaos Powers would have long since become playthings of the Lord of Change.
True destiny, in its truest sense, may be on the same level as primordial truth, or even two sides of the same coin.
The changes brought about by Conrad Coates angered Fate, but also won the favor of the Lord of Change.
The Lord of Change first lost the Crimson King, and then failed to bewitch the Lion and the Wolf King. If he can get a [Fate Rebel] card, it won't be a loss.
The more Kurtz wanted to change his fate, the more Tzeentch liked him.
"What makes you think your actions are so secretive? Carlos, you're really arrogant..."
Omega stared intently at the Fate Weaver before him, clearly unaware of what awaited him.
These chaotic demons are always like this, believing that their essence is in the hands of their respective masters, so they recklessly court death in the real universe.
"If you encounter any strange organization that is deliberately mysterious, worships knowledge, predicts science, and has incredible luck, anything suspicious should be attributed to the Lord of All Changes."
“This troublemaker is everywhere. Even if other Chaos Gods are plotting some kind of conspiracy, it must be Tzeentch who instigated and guided them.”
"I only investigated the deeds of that first-generation Duke, and I knew that there must be something fishy going on behind the scenes from the Tzeentch faction."
Omega's words immediately silenced Carlos.
That's fucking right, it actually makes a lot of sense.
These are the methods that it has most often used successfully when doing business with other Tzeentch archdemons.
Tzeentch never forces anyone; rather, it is those self-proclaimed "smart" people who think they are taking advantage of chaos who willingly jump into the trap one by one.
They thought they were chess players, able to bargain with the master of all changes, but then they discovered they were just pawns, at the mercy of others.
Unfortunately, they weren't even chess pieces; at best, they were just a stain on the chessboard.
"I didn't expect you to know us so well. What, are you thinking of joining us?"
"We, the Silverweavers, welcome a Primarch to join us. Our mission is to weave the warp and weft of destiny and reconstruct the frontiers of possibilities."
“For someone of your stature, our chairman is willing to offer a department head position to you and immediately provide nine employee benefits – including health insurance, career development, retirement plans, and more.”
Carlos, appearing in the form of the Silver Weaver, began to skillfully recruit people.
The state in which these subspace beings appear in the real universe is largely distorted by the summoner's perception.
For example, the ancestors of the Duke family only encountered the Silver Weaver after their investments went bankrupt.
In their beliefs and beliefs, the other party was an angel investor who could help them turn their lives around and rise again.
"Alright, alright, stop talking nonsense."
Omega waved his hand, signaling the noisy, ever-changing demon lord to be quiet.
"Was it really Alphares who died on Hydra? Are you really Omega? What are you trying to do?"
Carlos acted as if he hadn't heard him and continued his aggressive questioning.
It has an irresistible curiosity about truth and secrets.
Now that they've run into the mysterious Alpha Legion, whose activities no one can figure out, it's like a mouse encountering a cat—it's itching to get close.
Carlos even believed that the Alpha Legion was more suitable to be the servants of the Lord of Change than those Thousand Sons fools whose minds were full of psionic magic.
"Alas, arrogance has blinded you, Carlos. Look around, do you think you can still walk?"
Hearing Omega's mockery, Carlos finally stopped being amused; he had never thought he would encounter any problems.
Even if the opponent is a Primarch, so what? Even if he kills it, Carlos can still return to the Warp and rebuild his body. He's not afraid at all. Come and hit me! Hit me!
But when Carlos began to sense the subspace tides around him to confirm whether there really was a problem as Omega had said, his expression suddenly changed.
"You plotted against me!"
In the perception of the Myriad Transformations Demon Lord, the subspace around him had begun to distort and split under the influence of an invisible force since some unknown time.
It's like a whale that has washed ashore; it could have easily retreated back to the sea of souls.
However, now a dike has been erected in the sea behind it, which has confined part of the seawater and separated it from the whole.
Moreover, the power of this barrier is constantly strengthening, and even the Myriad Transformations Demon Lord realized that things were getting serious.
"Now that you're scared, it's too late."
"Enjoy the power of the Blackrock Cage, Carlos."
"Your two heads can see the past and the future, but they can't see the present."
As Omega and Carlos were talking, figures rushed out from the ruins surrounding the Duke family manor.
They were all Alpha warriors wearing power armor.
These mechanical Astartes were doing one thing in unison—planting beacons made of black stone into the ground.
There were a great many of these beacons, with hundreds of Alphas holding flags and standing in neat rows according to pre-arranged positions.
As the formation was completed, an invisible force began to appear around the ruins of the Duke family manor.
Under the influence of this anti-submarine force, the etheric tide receded as if it were receding, the veil of reality in this area was strengthened, and psionic energy was suppressed.
Carlos's complexion was extremely poor. He even abandoned the Silver Weaver skin and reverted to his original old, blind, and crippled appearance.
This is the price Carlos paid after being thrown into the Well of Eternity by Tzeentch and then climbing back up; he can only use psionic energy to observe the world around him.
Carlos waved his scepter, and instantly a psionic spell took shape, transforming into a giant raptor that swooped down on Omega.
Tzeentch's most trusted archduke has realized that Omega is no joke.
He even brought in the Blackrock Anti-Magic Field, going to such great lengths to ensure he remained completely behind.
But where did he get so many black stones from?
“I know what you want to ask, Carlos,” Omega answered once again, before the Weaver of Fates could.
He pierced the psionic raptor's attack with his pale spear, as swiftly and fatally as a serpent extending its fangs.
"Blackrock technology is indeed a great creation. I found the answer in the Blackrock Fortress that Guilliman built on the moon Macragge."
"That guy called Hermit has been searching for suitable targets in the warp and using various means to lure them into the real universe."
"A demon intelligence force belonging to Guilliman is constantly expanding, which is equivalent to planting countless spies for humanity in the warp, making up for humanity's lack of understanding of the warp."
"It's a pity that Gavial Loken didn't die at the hands of the Vengeful Spirits, and the first Chaos Demon they captured, Samus, also disappeared."
"His fate was also changed."
Omega ordered the Alpha warriors to continue shrinking the Blackrock Anti-Magic Field, and the psionic light surrounding Carlos quickly began to wither and extinguish.
The dissipation of the warp caused Carlos immense pain, but the Blackrock Anti-Magic Field held his soul captive, preventing him from dying and returning to the warp.
However, the physical and spiritual pain was secondary. Carlos had faced death countless times throughout his long life and had long since become accustomed to it.
What it cares about is being schemed against and played by Omega, running around like a brainless idiot.
For the Myriad Transformations Demon Lord, this feeling was like a legendary gold-level customer who had mistakenly entered a brothel, only to be ultimately humiliated by the ladies and technicians there.
However, its very nature dictates that such changes and unexpected events are things it cannot resolve, and it even revels in them, causing Carlos immense contradiction and pain.
“Omega, the more you scheme and plot, the more the Lord of Change will favor you.”
"You can't escape it. Whether it's real betrayal or indirect loyalty, your only fate is to become the demon prince who usurps the heavens and replace Magnus."
Carlos, having given up all hope, started shouting and threatening.
"You've gone to great lengths to trap me, simply to use me as a breakthrough point to pave the way for your continued ambitions."
“But let me tell you, I, Carlos the Weaver of Fate, will never betray my master, and you will never be able to truly subdue a Demon Lord of a thousand transformations.”
"Even if you shatter me into pieces, thanks to the Lord of Changes's high regard and favor for me, He will immediately reshape me into a whole again."
Carlos admits he lost this round, but for Tzeentch, he can lose 9999 times, but winning just once is enough.
"Oh? How could you think that these are all the cards I have up my sleeve?"
Omega pulled out a thick book from the gap in his power armor; it looked as if it had been written and compiled on the skin of some kind of creature.
On the book's cover, the title, "Ten Thousand Demons' True Names," is written in a script that rivals any other system.
When Carlos saw the book, his last line of defense collapsed completely, and fear surged through him like a tidal wave.
It recognized this thing.
“My brother, the Great Word Bearer, has an extremely profound understanding of demons. Since he was forced to become a demon by his eldest son, Angor Tey, he has actually received a more favorable research environment and conditions.”
“My agents, who were infiltrated among his offspring, obtained valuable intelligence for me. Then I found the headhunter Narek, who was involved with the cult, as well as those ancient beings within the cult.”
“These are just pieces of your true name that I’ve collected, but the most important thing is this book, which I found from the Darkwatchers on Caliban.”
"The origin of those little black-robed figures is extremely mysterious. Even I cannot figure out where they came from or what they are for."
"But all the clues point to the creator of the past: the Ancient Ones. The Dark Watchers are biological weapons that the Ancient Ones specifically created to target demons."
"Their research on demons far surpasses that of Luojia; they have even compiled this encyclopedia that sounds like a bedtime story for toddlers."
Upon hearing the name of the Dark Watcher, Tzeentch's ever-changing Demon Lord trembled like a leaf, completely losing the courage to fight to the end.
In fact, as early as 60 million years ago, when those ancient saints were still active in the galaxy, there were already demons in the warp.
The spacetime disorder of subspace makes even the concept of time incredibly vague and chaotic.
Even Slaanesh's familiar demons appeared, a counterintuitive situation that occurred even earlier than the Prince of Pleasure.
However, at that time the Sea of Souls was relatively calm, and with the Ancient Saints in charge, the few Warp Demons couldn't cause any trouble.
Even so, the Creators created the Darkwatch in response to these monsters that emerged from the Warp.
These tiny figures hidden inside the robes are virtually immune to all physical and psionic attacks.
Therefore, when they face warp demons, they hunt them down as natural enemies.
After the Old Ones vanished without a trace, the remaining Dark Watchers hid in Caliban, continuing to uphold their mission and guard the Ouroboros sealed within.
"Let me see... what your real name is."
Omega began to slowly flip through the thick book, "100,000 True Names of Demons".
According to intelligence, it is suspected to be made from the skin of those ancient saints and possesses some kind of magical power.
After browsing for more than ten minutes, Omega suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"Got you!"
"Carlos the Weaver of Fate".
He then began to recite Carlos's true name, in a strange subspace script that was almost impossible to pronounce in human language.
The real name even contains unusually obscure syllables and chords that can only be plucked with psychic energy.
Reciting the demon's true name requires not only exceptionally complex skills but also a sufficiently strong mental will to resist the demon's own chaotic and corrupting power.
However, Omega possessed all of these qualities.
"Are you crazy? If you pronounce all my real names, then a two-way channel will be established between us."
"All your information and secrets will be exposed to my view. Are you really willing to do that?"
Using one's true name to control a demon is an extremely risky thing, and for this reason, many people who try to enslave demons end up falling into depravity under the demon's seduction and corruption.
For Hydra, a company shrouded in secrets and plans, it's difficult to say which side suffered a greater loss when Carlos saw through their entire inner world.
However, Omega continued reciting his true name, Tzeentch's name, which was unusually long. The Primarch had been reciting it at an extremely fast pace for more than ten minutes, and it still hadn't finished.
Omega uttered each painful syllable; the corruption from the Weavers was exceptionally difficult even for Primarchs to endure.
"Enough! Enough!" Carlos was truly terrified; it didn't want to be controlled by this damned Primarch from now on.
If the two sides exchange intelligence, then the plans meticulously designed by the Lord of Change, which are recorded on its body, will be made public.
Carlos couldn't imagine how Tzeentch would punish it; perhaps he would completely erase its will and send it to nothingness.
"Ask whatever you want. How will you know if I'll answer if you don't ask?"
Carlos had lost all its earlier bravado. Just hours before, it had sworn absolute loyalty to Tzeentch, but now all that was forgotten.
The Lord of All Changes is above us; he was forced into it. Revealing a little secret is better than revealing everything.
When faced with two evils, one should choose the lesser one; he did this for the benefit of the cunning and treacherous.
Carlos's two heads were in a daze, his thoughts already drifting to who-knows-where.
A glint of light flashed in Omega's eyes, and he then had an Alpha warrior who had entered the secret room at some unknown time inquire on his behalf.
"Tell me everything about the Well of Eternity."
“The Well of Eternity?” Carlos screamed again. “How do you know about the Well of Eternity!”
"You've been lying in wait for so long, all for the Well of Eternity?"
But when faced with Omega's sharp gaze, Carlos compromised once again.
Its two heads describe the Well of Eternity from the perspectives of the past and the future, respectively, with half of it being lies and deception.
Omega listened patiently to its endless rambling until he heard that a human had crossed the Well of Eternity with a ship, at which point he finally smiled with satisfaction.
"I understand now. So that Rosie... has left our universe."
"There are universes beyond our universe, just like there are other lakes beyond one lake."
"The universe is so vast, containing infinite possibilities."
"Thank you for your answer, Fate Weaver."
Having figured out what he wanted, Omega retreated decisively and without hesitation.
The Alpha agents who had set up an anti-psychic field outside the secret room using the Black Stone Beacon also turned and ran without hesitation.
Omega's unusual behavior immediately aroused Carlos's suspicion.
It broke free from the anti-psychic field that bound it and trembled as it picked up the book "100,000 True Names of Demons" that the Primarch had casually tossed on the ground.
Carlos's sharp claws pierced the book's cover, and it quickly found the record about itself.
Among the 100,000 demon names, there were indeed some of Carlos's demon names, but when you flipped to the back, there was only a blank space left.
"This……"
"What the hell!"
"Omega!!"
Carlos unleashed a terrifying psionic shriek, instantly destroying the entire Duke family manor ruins.
It was tricked. It knew the past and the future, and was a secret about the Weavers of Fate that even Tzeentch did not know. It was tricked by a Primarch with half a book!
Omega was so confident and didn't care that he would expose all the secrets to Carlos because the true name ritual was simply impossible to succeed.
This series of deceptions completely outmaneuvered Carlos, forcing him to hand over all the information about the Well of Eternity.
Carlos was furious, but his commotion was so loud that the Midnight Lord's intelligence corps had already noticed the unusual psionic reaction here.
"I'll remember you, I'll remember you! Omega! Alpharis!"
Carlos, like a rascal who had just had his toe stepped on, howled as he opened a rift in the subspace and plunged back into the Sea of Souls.
The Duke family's manor ruins are now just ruins, with intense subspace corrosion even transforming the rubble into crystal-clear blue crystals.
No one knows what happened here, except for a team of Midnight Lords who rushed to the scene and sealed it off.
"Such strong psionic pollution is beyond our control. Perhaps we should inform Lord Losi."
The think tank leader was intimidated by the psionic traces left by Carlos and could only nod in agreement with the battle brothers' suggestion.
