Chapter 92: Traces of the "Rose School"

Chapter 92: Traces of the "Rose School"
Max's huge revolver is a magical item. The bullets it fires, in addition to having a little armor-piercing ability, are almost as powerful as grenades.

The bullet had just torn the man's head apart, and the eyeball in his left eye had fallen out.

But the man just cried out in pain, then stared with his only remaining scarlet eye, broke open the window in the corridor, and jumped from the third floor.

The reason this guy escaped from the front was because there were two members of the "Mechanical Heart" team guarding there at the back of the building.

Downstairs in front, there is also a member of the "Mechanical Heart" team and two armed policemen guarding here.

However, the man's bloody head frightened the two policemen so much that they forgot to draw their guns.

bang bang bang~
The member of the "Mechanical Heart" had a stronger psychological endurance and fired continuously at the man.

The man was shot twice in the chest and abdomen, but he still turned at an extremely fast speed and ran towards the carriage, wanting to use the carriage as cover.

He ran extremely fast. Compared to Max who jumped down from the third floor to chase him, or the members of the "Mechanical Heart" who were lying in ambush below, they were as slow as a snail.

Fortunately, there were not many pedestrians on this road. The few people who heard the gunshots immediately ran away and looked for cover, otherwise they would have been frightened by the bloody scene.

The man ran across the road, getting closer and closer to the carriage.

Suddenly, a cold light shot out from a carriage. It was a metal arrow with a simple wind magic circle.

The strong man dodged quickly, and although the metal arrow missed his vitals, it pierced his shoulder.

But this injury was nothing to the man. Just as he was about to continue running, the second arrow came, this time hitting the man's leg.

Although the man has a strong ability to withstand blows, being shot in the leg would affect his running, so he had to jump away to avoid it.

The third arrow hit the man's hip. The pain in his head and the urgency to escape made the man roar and rush towards the carriage from which the arrow was shot. He wanted to overturn the carriage and kill the people inside.

Fortunately, Odysseus blocked them and Max and his teammates caught up.

bang~
The oversized revolver fired again, hitting the man's left shoulder, instantly tearing his skin and exposing his shoulder blade.

The huge force of the bullet made the man stagger and almost fall.

Odysseus in front seized the opportunity and shot an arrow into the man's heart.

The man stopped suddenly, let out some creepy roars, and scratched his chest hard, trying to pull out the arrow.

bang~
Max's oversized revolver was fired for the third time, hitting the man in the back. Large pieces of flesh and blood were blown away, and the heart pierced by the metal feather arrow fell out of the chest cavity.

The man let out a scream, fell forward, and lay on the ground twitching.

Max came closer and shot the man in the back again. He was relieved only when the man's heart was completely broken.

Several members of the "Mechanical Heart" team came over one after another. Max put the gun back into the holster and gave a thumbs up in the direction of the carriage.

Odysseus on the carriage smiled slightly, took the arrow he had just placed on the crossbow, looked at the bloody man on the ground, and whispered, "Werewolf!"

Then he laughed and said, "This method is really durable."

After saying that, he guessed that this guy was most likely a member of the "Rose School".

Odysseus had received news before that after the indulgent faction of the "Rose School" was severely hit by the "Mechanical Heart", several strongholds were exposed.

However, the people in those strongholds had already evacuated. Judging from the clues left behind, the "Rose School" seemed to have withdrawn from Backlund in an orderly manner.

At that time, Odysseus was a little puzzled. How could an extraordinary organization that was hated by everyone withdraw so "openly"?

In his opinion, the "Rose School" had exposed so many strongholds at once, which meant that they were proactively providing clues to the official Beyonders. It was like leaving Backlund while holding a megaphone and shouting "I'm leaving."

At that time, he suspected that the "Rose School"'s retreat was a show for others.

It might be for official Beyonders like "Mechanical Heart", or it might be for Sharon and the others, anyway, there are quite a few viewers.

With the werewolf exposed, the previous retreat of the "Rose School" was in vain.

Under Max's command, the "Mechanical Heart" quickly cleaned up the battlefield and cleared the blood and flesh on the road.

They didn't dare to communicate with this kind of cultist, they simply took the body away and waited for the extraordinary characteristics to emerge.

Then, led by Max, they entered the "werewolf"'s room.

Odysseus, in a carriage across the street, saw two policemen rush out of a room shortly after entering and vomit violently in the hallway, presumably after discovering something extremely bloody inside. About twenty minutes later, a sullen Max emerged from the room, boarded the carriage, and sat across from Odysseus. "What a bunch of lunatics!"

Odysseus asked about the faint stench of corpse on the other person: "Is there a corpse up there?"

"There are three bodies," Max said, "one of them was badly decomposed, but because the windows were sealed, the smell didn't get outside.

"That's the guy's bedroom. He recently slept with a rotting corpse."

Odysseus frowned and said, "Okay, okay, no need to be so detailed."

Then he became a little puzzled: "Why didn't he get rid of the body? Normal people wouldn't expose their bodies at any time... Well, maybe their thinking really is different from that of normal people."

"There's some speculation within the church about this," Max explained. "Because similar incidents have occurred before, some members of the Mechanical Heart believe the rotting corpse may contain ingredients needed for some dark ritual of the Werewolf."

Odysseus nodded: "This guess is reasonable."

Then he asked, "How long has this guy lived here?"

"More than half a year." Max said: "I think he is a 'hidden agent' arranged by the 'Rose School'.

"It's just that this guy doesn't seem to be in good condition recently, so he needs some dark rituals to stabilize his condition. In order to avoid being discovered by the official Beyonders, he used his own abilities to gain one or two subordinates..."

After a werewolf soaks a person's body with its own wolf venom for a period of time, it can turn the person into a subordinate who only obeys its orders.

These subordinates will gain some of the "werewolf" abilities, but the life of this monster is very short.

Max continued, "This 'werewolf' is quite cautious. The subordinates he converted are all homeless people. If one or two of them are missing, even if ten or eight are missing, no one will notice.

"Yesterday, he sent one of his subordinates to the Gar Herbal Medicine Store in the far west district to buy 'Golden-edged Sunflower' to dispel the traces of the dark ritual in the room.

"So our first round of investigation didn't turn up any clues.

"Because werewolves have the ability to resist divination, we couldn't find any clues using extraordinary divination methods."

Odysseus frowned: "Why do I always feel that I missed a key part?"

"Your feeling is right." Max took out two portraits provided by Odysseus. One was of Bernie, who was recommended by Odysseus to buy the "Golden-Edged Sunflower".

Odysseus didn't know the name of the person in the other picture. It was a customer who was received by the clerk Kena when he was not in the herbal medicine shop. He directly bought the "Golden-edged Sunflower".

Max said: "We didn't find the body of Bernie up there, we only found the body of the other person who bought the 'Golden Edge Sunflower'!

"He died not long ago. I bought the 'Golden-Edged Sunflower' and it lived for a while. I think he died this morning."

Odysseus clapped his hands and said, "I understand what the key point is! This 'werewolf' looked very crazy when he was running for his life just now, but he is usually quite cautious.

"Since someone has already been sent to my shop to buy 'Golden-Edged Sunflower' this morning, even if they still need it, they can't come to my shop to buy it! Even if they do, Bernie won't be so honest as to tell me the address here.

"It's as if... as if Bernie was deliberately telling me that there's a 'werewolf' here who's in a bad state."

Max took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a puff before saying, "This is something I haven't figured out. Bernie's appearance is too strange."

"Someone tipped me off," Odysseus said confidently. "They knew I was an informant for the Mechanical Heart, so they allowed Bernie to appear and draw my attention."

Max stuck his hand out of the car window: "That's a reasonable guess, but who sent Bernie?"

Odysseus thought for a moment before saying, "I'm trying to contact the members of the Temperance Faction of the Rose School in Backlund, but don't hold your hopes too high. I'm not sure if I can get through."

The first suspect is of course Miss Sharon. She got the clue about the "werewolf", but was afraid of exposing herself, so she told the "Mechanical Heart" this clue through Odysseus.

But the problem is, Odysseus had no contact with the temperance faction before this. How did Miss Sharon know his identity as an informant?

Max nodded. "A clue is better than nothing. I'll continue searching for Bernie through the police. Maybe some wild Beyonder has spotted the Werewolf and contacted us through you."

Odysseus hummed, "I can't rule out this possibility."

Afterwards, a carriage with the Mechanical Heart took Odysseus back to the herbalist's shop. Arriving at the lounge behind the shop, Odysseus made sure no one was in the yard. He suddenly said to the air, "I have something to ask the Mysterious Queen."

After waiting a minute or two, and seeing no change before the meeting, he repeated, "I have something to ask the 'Mysterious Queen'."

This went on for more than half an hour, and when Odysseus was about to give up, a phrase suddenly appeared on the table in front of him: I'm coming.
