Chapter 37 Cooperating with the Investigation

Chapter 37 Cooperating with the Investigation
The brass scissors held by Roger and Mr. Willis had already cut the ribbon that symbolized the completion of the association. Everyone in the audience held their breath, ready to applaud and praise at any time.

But at this moment, Roger saw Klein, who had been standing at the tea table as if nothing had happened, suddenly sprint towards a corner of the audience, pulling out a revolver!

"boom!"

"boom!"

In a flash, two gunshots rang out one after another.

Klein was the first to shoot. The demon-hunting bullet he fired hit the man in gray's shoulder just before he fired.

The penetrating power of the bullet caused the gray-clothed man's wrist to soften and the shot missed. The spinning bullet stirred the air and flew past Roger, instantly blowing up a gas lamp high up.

The gunshots and the flames from the gas lamps startled the audience. Screams and panicked discussions immediately broke out in the crowd, and some people even began to flee towards the entrance.

"Is the danger over?"

Klein quickly stepped forward and used the fighting techniques he had recently learned from the Blackthorn Security Company to subdue the man who fired the gun and disarm him. At the same time, he continued to scan the chaotic crowd with some trepidation.

However, at this moment, he saw two more people put their hands inside their coats and made movements to approach the platform.

The way these two men drew their guns was obviously different from that of the gray-clothed man before. They seemed more steady and calm, as if they wanted to take advantage of the chaos to launch another attack.

"Two groups of people? Or accomplices?"

Klein immediately felt embarrassed because shooting from his current position was not safe and it was easy to hit innocent spectators who were fleeing.

But at this moment, many of the originally panicked participants stopped and showed expressions of pain or hesitation.

The next second, many of them began to yell uncontrollably or even suddenly attack passers-by, no longer showing their previous elegance and politeness.

The combination of panic, cursing, screaming and groaning in pain immediately produced a chemical reaction, making the already chaotic scene even more chaotic.

Even the two gunmen were affected, their movements slowed down noticeably, and one of them was even hit in the left eye by Mr. Hannibal's punch. He stepped back repeatedly and gasped.

As soon as the first gunshot was heard, Roger had already hugged Mr. Willis and pressed him down to the ground.

"Klein!" he shouted.

When Roger saw Klein firing the gun, he immediately realized that someone was going to attack him or Mr. Willis, as he was originally concentrating on cutting the ribbon.

Although the first gunman was subdued, Roger's intuitive feedback told him that the danger was not over.

So he immediately used his Sequence 8 "Troublemaker" ability, and according to the standing positions of the people in the audience, evenly and randomly triggered the irrational emotions of many participants, in order to interfere with the assassin's actions.

After receiving Roger's signal, Klein immediately approached with his gun in hand and crippled the other two delayed gunmen one by one, rendering them unable to attack.

"Huh, huh."

Klein glanced around the chaotic venue in astonishment, flipped the coin again, and got a tails response, then he breathed a sigh of relief temporarily.

While Roger was comforting Mr. Willis and telling him that Klein was a policeman, he activated his clairvoyance and quickly scanned the three gunmen.

"They're not Beyonders, they're just ordinary people... kind of interesting."

After the Chanis Gate incident, Roger had thought that Ince Zangwill would cause him some trouble, and even considered the possibility of a siege by Beyonders.

But he is not afraid of these.

As long as one does not lose consciousness immediately, the skills of "Noisy One" combined with the newly absorbed low-sequence "Shepherd's Evil Heart" ability are sufficient to handle most dangerous situations.

If the situation is really tough, just go for a big move and use the power of "Oneness" to wipe out all the invading enemies.

But what was the point of sending ordinary gunmen? Were they betting on a one-shot kill?
Are you kidding me?
Considering the first shooter was over ten meters away, and considering the accuracy of pistols in this era, the possibility of this happening was incredibly low. Even Klein, who had recently undergone extensive shooting training, knew to get closer to the target before firing. Didn't these gunmen know that?
If Roger missed the target with one strike, he could wipe them all out. This attack was like a game.

"What should we do now?" he asked Klein, who was comforting Melissa.

"The staff should have called the police, and they'll be here soon," Klein replied.

He had almost gotten used to the fact that wherever Roger was, there would be trouble, so he was much calmer than before.

Upon hearing this, Roger had no choice but to nod and try his best to help restore order at the scene which had been messed up by his own ability.

Not long after, six officers from the Ahowa County Police Department arrived at the scene.

Apparently due to Klein's presence, the six police officers also included Dunn Smith and Leonard Mitchell, captains of the Special Operations Department's 6th Team, also known as the "Nighthawks" squad.

"What's going on, Klein?"

Dunn glanced at the three gangsters groaning in pain beside Klein and asked with some concern.

Leonard, on the other hand, seemed much more relaxed, glancing curiously at the ordinary people at the scene who were either frightened or had bruises on their faces.

Because the police have taken control of the place, they cannot leave until they are questioned.

But when Leonard saw Roger, he was slightly stunned and couldn't help revealing an amused and thoughtful expression.

"My brother, sister, I, and I were invited by Mr. Metersbonwe to attend the founding ceremony of the Tingen Stray Animal Protection Association. But suddenly, someone opened fire on Mr. Bonwe and the association's sponsor, Mr. Willis."

Klein described what had happened previously.

Upon hearing this, Dunn nodded calmly to Leonard, then walked up to the three gunmen and began to examine them one by one.

Leonard understood and joined the police in questioning, especially those who took the initiative to attack others in the venue.

After nearly an hour, Leonard returned and whispered to Dunn Smith:

"Captain, there seems to be a supernatural element in this incident."

"Well, it seems so."

Dunn nodded, which was consistent with his examination results.

He stood up and turned to Roger and Mr. Willis.

"Gentlemen, this matter is somewhat unusual. In order to get to the bottom of it, we hope you can accompany us back to the police station for investigation."

Finally, he added, "Of course, this is also for your personal safety."

"Officer, what's going on? I don't remember offending anyone."

Mr. Willis was still in shock and spoke with a trembling voice.

"These days, there are all kinds of crazy people. We never know when we might touch someone's interests."

Roger shrugged helplessly, then nodded to Dunn and Leonard:

"No problem, officer. I'm willing to cooperate with the investigation. What are your names, please?"
