Mystery: From the Shadow World

Chapter 19 Holiday is your lie

Chapter 19 Holiday is your lie
The long dark night continued, but there was now a person sleeping peacefully in the room.

After a long time, Dunn Smith, who was already in the room, stood up and said calmly:
"He came from a mysterious organization called the Secret Order, founded in the Fourth Epoch. The Antigonus family's notes originated from them. Due to the negligence of a member, they ended up on the antique market and were acquired by Welch."

"They went out this time to retrieve this notebook."

Isn’t this outrageous?
After hearing Klein's explanation of the general situation surrounding the notes, Philip blinked and raised this question from the bottom of his heart:
A notebook passed down from a secret family in the Fourth Epoch, one so significant that the Secret Order dispatched numerous individuals to desperately search for it, was actually sold on the market due to negligence!?

If it was a case of negligence on the part of multiple people, then this secret society should be discontinued. The entire organization should be packed up and sent to the Night Watchman's cell just to improve performance. It would be a disgrace to the Beyonders and the secret organization.

If a member of the secret order was alone and could carry the notebook outside, he should have had some experience and intelligence, and it would be absolutely inappropriate for him to do such a thing.
There is a problem. It is really strange.

It's so strange that it can't be accepted without arousing suspicion.

Philip pursed his lips, hesitated for a moment, and then reminded: "Captain, the loss of this note seems to be very problematic."

"I know." Dunn nodded, his tone remaining calm and unchanged. "The notebook was most likely lost due to external factors unknown to us, but the most important thing now is to find it."

Okay, I hope there won't be any big problems. Philip retracted his gaze from Dunn, knowing that it was inconvenient for him to say anything more given his current status, so he had to give up.

At this moment, Klein, who was standing next to him, couldn't help but ask, "Lawrence, how did you do that just now? I didn't even notice when you entered the room."

"Is it the ability of the 'Sleepless One'?"

When Philip heard his words, he became a little excited, couldn't stop sneering silently, his chest heaving, and pointed to his eye sockets with his fingers, the meaning was self-evident.

After a few seconds, he sighed, calmed down, rubbed his eyes, and explained, "It's the 'prisoner'. I have a strong body and sharp perception, as well as many criminal skills. Just now, I used the breath-holding and silent steps."

Prisoners, criminal skills.
Klein's mouth twitched. He recalled the words he had heard before, such as "midnight poet," "sailor," and "audience." Then he thought of Philip's "prisoner" and didn't know what to say.

"Haha, don't worry. I was born half a 'prisoner', and this cannot be changed, but I know how to control myself. Well, I'll explain it to you when I have the chance."

Philip anticipated Klein's strange reaction. He patted him on the shoulder and explained carefully, "And the reason you didn't notice anything is because you're not a Beyonder yet. Otherwise, I wouldn't have needed your help just now."

I see. Klein nodded, his desire for Beyonders growing stronger. Then Dunn suddenly asked, "Mr. Moretti, do you wish to become a Beyonder?"

"Um, now?"

Faced with this unexpected good news, Klein subconsciously took a manual breath. He looked at Dunn, waiting for him to explain.

"You contributed to the capture of the members of the Secret Order this time. Becoming a Beyonder will improve your self-preservation abilities and inspiration, making it even more helpful in finding the notes. Of course, this isn't mandatory; it's entirely up to you."

Dunn explained, and finally said, "Of course, your merits are still a little short, so you can only choose from the complete sequence other than 'Sleepless'."

"Which Sequence 9s can I choose from?" Klein asked without hesitation.

Upon hearing this, Dunn glanced at Philip calmly and listed the five options: Corpse Collector, Mystery Peer, Diviner, Chanter, and Warrior. As these sequences were explained and analyzed, Klein, who had originally dreamed of becoming a Beyonder immediately, gradually became dazed and entangled.

Bang–dang!

The clear, yet slow sound of a door opening came from behind. A cold, pale man in a black windbreaker walked over, bowed slightly to Dunn, and then carried the stalker on his shoulder and walked out.

Dunn watched the other person leave, then turned to the other two people present and began to introduce them:
"Body collector, Fry."

Looking at that scene, and thinking about the corpse collector's potion requiring dried black-spotted frogs, Klein suddenly felt a little nauseous and gave up forcing himself to think further.

"Captain, can you let me think about it?"

"Of course, there's no need to rush." A smile appeared on Dunn's originally indifferent face. He took off his hat, bowed slightly, and said in a gentle voice:

"Next Monday morning, just give me an answer. Don't put a dazzling filter on Beyonders. You know the reason. Calm down, think rationally, and listen to your deepest thoughts."

"The captain is such a nice guy. He really wants us to just be civilians and live our lives out. It's a pity that Klein, like me, won't listen." Philip sighed inwardly as he watched Dunn disappear through the doorway.

He glanced sideways at Klein, only to find his prophetic yet hesitant expression. After a brief moment of confusion, he suddenly had the answer.

Well, now is not the time.

Philip pointed his fingertips at the corner of his mouth, which was slightly raised, and then waved his hand. His expression was indifferent, but his tone was a little tired:
"I don't mind giving you some advice, but I'm really sleepy right now. Come find me at No. 6 Narcissus Street tomorrow afternoon or evening. I'm planning on taking some time off to rest."

Klein nodded and watched silently as the young man in front of him left the room. He closed the door behind him. After briefly gathering his mind, his first thought came to mind:
"Daffodil Street. It's nearby. I think I could walk there directly, or even take a carriage without paying."

In the quiet street.

Philip walked to Dunn who was standing not far away. The cold wind blew across his windbreaker, taking away some noise and leaving only loneliness.

"Captain, that..."

"I know, it's the holidays." Dunn smiled, much more often than usual. His gray eyes lingered on the street, and he said casually:

"Lawrence, I have to admit that your abilities are much more convenient at night than those of us 'Sleepless Ones.' I'm planning to arrange some combat training for you to utilize your strengths in this area. What are your thoughts?"

“Just take two hours out of every day off.”

"Combat, course?"

Philip almost thought he was hallucinating. Memories of the cram school on Earth surfaced in his mind, making him instinctively repulse it. He quickly waved his hand, "Captain, that's not necessary. The Prisoner's abilities don't require any other techniques."

Can I still have a good vacation?
