Mystery: From the Shadow World
Chapter 64 Maric
Chapter 64 Maric
After the exchange of information and knowledge was completed, with Mr. Fool's signal, this Tarot Club ended as usual.
Philip returned to the hotel under the crimson light and looked at the wall clock. After roughly estimating the time it would take him to reach the Backlund Bridge area, he put on the "Silver" ring, transformed into Jane Charlotte, and walked out of the hotel.
The cost of staying in a hotel these days was not cost-effective, but her original plan was to take the risk and get the certification documents of the two properties left by her parents after being promoted to a "werewolf", then find a way to sell them safely and then move to a new house.
After all, Backlund is different from a small city like Tingen, so it's not a bad idea to settle down there. Jane Charlotte has no reason to give up her identity in the future, so renting a house is not such a good option in this case.
Tiemen Street, Brave Man Bar.
After seeing Philip, who had taken a detour to the East District and transformed back into a man, Caspers, who was originally happily playing a card game, changed his expression slightly. After carefully confirming it, he handed the other party 50 pounds in cash with some reluctance.
"I told you I'm not omnipotent. Don't expect me to do this kind of thing for free. The willpower and risks involved are enough for me to ask for payment."
Philip was not stingy and took out a one-pound note from his wallet and handed it to the other party, "Here."
Caspar was a little surprised, as if he hadn't expected Philip to be so straightforward. After taking the money, he saw that the other party hadn't left yet, so he led him to the door and spoke in a low voice:
"Tell her about her affairs and don't worry about them. Is there anything else?"
"Party." Philip did not hide anything and asked directly: "Besides the party held in this bar, do you have any other channels?"
"You" Caspers opened his mouth to say something, but the words seemed to be stuck in his throat. After a few seconds of hesitation and opening and closing his mouth, he finally responded.
"I don't know, but someone might know. I need to ask his opinion."
Philip nodded and watched him walk into the tavern. He then leaned against the wall beside him, looking up at the strange red moon above. He breathed a sigh of relief in his heart and murmured:
“Fortunately, nothing went wrong today.”
He slowly pulled his left hand out of his pocket, looked at the burly man who was staring at the wine glass in his hand, curled his lips, and handed the wine glass to him:
"If you don't mind, take it."
"Thank you, sir!" The man's eyes lit up when he heard that. He carefully took the wine glass with both hands, swallowed his saliva, and then his expression suddenly froze. He looked around and then quietly moved.
"I only drink a little bit, just a little bit, it won't be a problem"
More than ten minutes later, Kaspers returned to the door and pulled him into the bar. He knocked on the door of a card room near the kitchen and said, "It's me, Maric."
"come in."
A cold and steady male voice came from inside.
After getting permission, Philip followed Caspars who pushed the door open and walked into the chess and card room. However, the moment he entered, he saw the dozen or so pale-faced, ferocious-looking men, and his fingers trembled slightly.
He forced a smile that didn't look out of place under the circumstances, and subconsciously prepared to retreat to a safe place. However, the sound of Caspars closing the door behind him after he left dissuaded him from this idea.
In the strange and unsettling silence, the pale-faced man in the innermost circle, wearing a white shirt and a black vest, stood up and stared at him with eyes that seemed to conceal deep malice. He said:
"Are you a Beyonder?"
Calm down, calm down. Even if they really are zombies, they wouldn't kill me for no reason. Philip's face held a hint of fear, but he nodded. "Yes." The man named Maric looked him up and down, then said in a deep voice, "I can indeed let you join another party, but you have to prove you're qualified. That party is in Queens."
Queens.
Philip thought for more than ten seconds before he roughly understood what the other party meant: either strength, financial resources, power or influence, in short, there must be advantages that can be put on the table at that party.
Well, none at the moment.
He pursed his lips and suddenly had an idea, but due to the other party's credibility, he finally said, "Excuse me, can I go back and think about it for a while?"
"what ever."
Maric went straight back to the card table, without any reaction to Philip's answer, and started the next card game with the dozen or so zombies around him as if nothing had happened.
Philip left the room and saw Caspers approaching. He suppressed his urge and took him somewhere else before complaining, "Why couldn't you have told me in advance? I can't trust that guy at all!"
“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
After hearing Philip's complaint, Kaspars retorted seriously, "Marich is stronger than anyone I know. He's not even afraid of bullets. But even so, I've never seen him do anything bad to me or anyone else."
Not afraid of bullets.
It really is a zombie.
Philip's eyelids twitched, and just as he was about to continue thinking about asking something, he suddenly froze. Seeing Kaspars's puzzled expression, he confirmed very seriously, "Are you sure that the man named Maric is not afraid of bullets and has never done anything evil?"
"Forehead"
Caspar was speechless, touched his rosacea, and then shook his head helplessly, "At least it has been like this since I met him."
In that case
Philip didn't say much nonsense after hearing this. He looked up at the wall clock on the bar counter, turned around and walked to the chess and card room he had just been in, and pushed the door open without any hesitation.
The sound of the door opening quickly alerted the dozen or so figures inside. Maric, whose expression already wasn't safe, frowned even more, and said with a hint of danger, "You'd better have a reasonable explanation for this."
Philip deliberately did not move for two or three seconds. Seeing that Maric was still sitting there waiting, his guess was finally confirmed. So he closed the door and calmly found a chair to sit down.
"If I say I have a way to suppress a certain degree of pollution and loss of control, and clear away negative emotions, would that qualify me?"
pat.
Several playing cards immediately fell to the ground.
More than a dozen zombies stood up. Marich, whose face was pale, showed a hint of madness in his eyes, but he still restrained himself and said in a deep voice, "What do you mean?"
"Keep talking!"
