Mystery: Who has seen my brother?

Chapter 203 Preparing for Hunting

Chapter 203 Preparing for Hunting
In the audience of Backlund Theater

Seeing Eve return, Melis couldn't wait to ask, "I saw Prince Edsac's civilian lover also go out, not long after you left, in the same direction as you. Did you meet?"

He seemed extremely expectant and even leaned over to ask before Eve sat back in her seat.

"Ah? That's such a pity," Eve said with a look of surprise on her face, "I didn't even notice that!"

Upon hearing this, Melis's face immediately showed a hint of dissatisfaction. He frowned and withdrew his body from leaning forward. He complained, "That's really too bad, Miss Eve. You have lost the basic acumen of a reporter today."

"I'm very sorry."

Melis opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something else, but his mouth opened and closed, and in the end he just sighed and said nothing. The topic ended in silence between the two.

Tickets for the Backlund Grand Theater are divided into three categories: morning, afternoon, and evening. Cakes and drinks are provided to the audience in the theater. Of course, they are not free, and the prices are higher than normal.

Eve and Melis bought tickets for the morning show, which lasted all morning, but neither of them watched the entire performance.

Melis immediately followed Edsak when he left the table. When he came back, he looked a little frustrated and it didn't seem like things were going well.

Edessak declared defeat, so Melis placed his hopes on Triss. As the heroine of this love story, the information about "Cinderella" Triss was also very important.

Melis entrusted the task of "persuading Triss" to Eve, believing that women were easier to approach. However, after much deliberation, Melis decided to go with Eve to persuade Triss, with Eve taking the lead and him providing assistance.

After Triss left the stage for the first time, she never left her seat again until the end of the performance, when they took the opportunity of Edsak's absence to talk to Triss alone.

To Melis's surprise, this conversation went exceptionally smoothly, so smoothly that he suspected he was dreaming, and the corners of his mouth remained raised even after he sat in the departing carriage.

Eve bought some bread and milk on the way to replenish her family's food supply. Then, she returned home, opened her mailbox, and took out her subscribed newspapers and magazines, preparing to spend a leisurely afternoon. Aside from receiving Klein's prayer and casting an illusion on him, she lay on the sofa, reading the newspaper, until Rarity and Klein returned home at dusk.

"How's your business, Mr. Sherlock?" Eve glanced at Klein, who was taking off his coat at the door. She straightened her upper body and placed the newspaper on the coffee table before lazily sitting up and stretching.

"Excellent," Klein replied cheerfully, leaning his cane against the wall. "For a commission to catch an adulterer, the scope of a detective's work is quite broad."

"He's the first manager of Coim Company, and the client is his wife, Ms. Mary," Klein continued. "He received a commission from a wealthy individual so quickly. It seems Ian's publicity efforts are starting to pay off."

"The information Meursault provided contained numerous scandals and incriminating materials about politicians, aristocrats, and wealthy individuals. It happened to include this gentleman's profile, so I directly gave the photos of him and his mistress to Ms. Marie." Klein couldn't help but raise his eyebrows, his tone light and cheerful. "The lady was stunned. She looked at the photos several times in disbelief. Only after she confirmed that the person in the photos was her husband and not an imposter did she feel comfortable paying the fee."

"Hmm..." Eve leaned back on the sofa with her hand on her chin and said, "If Ms. Mary publicizes this matter, it will definitely bring you considerable fame."

"That's great," Klein said as he picked up the windbreaker from the hanger and put it on. "But I have to prioritize my debts right now."

"Let's go."

"Ah~" Eve made a seemingly reluctant sound from her throat, but there was no emotion in her voice, as if she was a machine learning human conversation. At the same time, her body slid down the sofa like jelly and sat on the ground, but her upper body was still leaning on the sofa, her arms supported on its edge, her head tilted up, and her hair scattered on the dark leather.

"Okay." Two seconds later, Eve stood up slowly. There was a sense of laziness in her movements. It wasn't the laziness brought on by fatigue, but the laziness that came from waking up after a long sleep. Klein felt a little envious.

"Rui Rui, do you want to come with us?" Klein asked, his gaze shifting upwards to the sofa, where a black mass was lying on the far left side, rising and falling. Eve also turned her head to look at the black cat curled up on the sofa. She reached out and gently stroked her heaving belly, then, with a slightly forceful move, held it in the ring and pulled it out by its tail. "If you don't go, we'll pack dinner for you."

"I can only eat takeaways if I go," Rarity poked her head out and smacked Eve's hand, which was stroking her tail, with her paw. "You might as well bring me some cookies."

Eve touched the back of her hand and said with resentment, "So cruel, so ruthless!"

Each word was stretched out, and Ruirui raised his paw and hit him twice more. "I'm going out with you," he said as he hit him, "I think you're embarrassing."

"Okay, then you can stay home and wait for us to come back." Eve shook her hands, slowly stood up, walked towards Klein, put her hand on his shoulder, and raised her other hand, pointing her thumb in the direction of the black cat.

Then, the space inside the house began to distort, and all the colors began to become richer and flow around.

"Ah, she used to be very cute."

The two figures disappeared in the room, leaving only a teasing voice abruptly floating in the empty space.

Rhodes Islands

Klein, wearing the appearance of "German," stepped onto the ground of the Rhodes Islands.

"It's cute now," Crane said as soon as he landed. "Rarity has never hit me."

After saying that, Klein looked at Eve with a look of disapproval, indicating that Eve should look for the reason in herself.

As if she hadn't received Klein's message, Eve snorted twice, reached out and punched Klein's shoulders twice, and said, "Fragile mage, one punch from her will put you on the bed for at least three days."

"My fighting skills are pretty good," Klein retorted, clutching his shoulder. He then lowered his head, looked at the ground, and muttered to himself, "Although I'm a bit fragile."

"By the way, does the vampire path increase strength so much?" Klein asked doubtfully.

"No, but they have a lot of buff skills and potions."

Hearing this, Klein looked at Eve silently.

Eve seemed oblivious to Klein's gaze as she continued walking ahead. However, she still defended herself, "Rui Rui always drinks potions before fighting to increase her strength and speed."

Finally, he added, "Instead of paying attention to me, you should pay attention to your hunting target tonight."

He raised his hand and pointed at the blond man at a small stall in front of him. "Flame Danitz, his bounty is three thousand pounds. Hunt him down, and your debt will be wiped out. There's probably no pirate in the Rhodes Islands you can hunt with a higher bounty than him."

"No," Klein looked in the direction Eve pointed and shook his head. "They're more like treasure hunters than pirates. Besides, I've already chosen my favorite tonight and am ready to hunt."

"A magician doesn't perform unprepared performances."
