Chapter 39 Divination
Scarlet Moon Cat?

Klein searched his memory carefully, and it took him a while to remember.

The Apocalypse of the Night records that "the black cat Ruirui, the cat of the Mirror Angel, is knowledgeable and elegant, loved by the goddess. The Scarlet Moon bestows upon it a blessing, and it is called the 'Cat of the Scarlet Moon'..."

This couldn't be blamed on Klein's poor memory or lack of piety, but rather on the scarlet moon cat itself having very little record in the Apocalypse of Night. It was considered unpopular knowledge and had never even appeared on the theology exam paper.

Klein chewed over the name "Rui Rui" carefully.

"Both the pronunciation and the naming format are very Chinese," Klein pondered. "If this is true, then the Mirror Angel might also be a time traveler. Unfortunately, there aren't as many records of the Mirror Angel as there are of the Scarlet Moon Cat."

"I hope so." Klein smiled helplessly at Old Neil.

Dunn patted Klein on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, Old Neil can divine the origins of that black cat."

"Divination?" Klein's brown eyes were filled with curiosity. "Like just now?"

"No, no, no," Old Neil waved his hand. "Pendulum divination can only answer yes or no. Complex information like that requires other methods, such as dream divination. If Klein is interested in divination, he can choose to be a Mystery Pryer or a Diviner in the future."

A mystery peeper? A fortune teller?
"This should be another potion that the Nighthawks have." Klein guessed in his heart.

Dunn sat on a chair and pointed to the chair next to him, signaling Klein to sit down. He then placed a finger in front of his mouth and said softly, "Try to create a distraction-free environment when doing divination."

Klein nodded, indicating that he understood. He kept his mouth shut and looked at Old Neil quietly.

Old Neil leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and seemed to have entered into dream divination.

After a while, Old Neil began to twitch slightly, as if he was frightened.

Klein was startled and quickly looked at Dunn, only to see that the captain also had a frown on his face, his eyes filled with seriousness. He immediately realized that this was not normal.

The captain didn't move, and he didn't dare to move either. The two of them stared at Old Neil closely.

At this moment, Old Neil suddenly sat up straight, holding his chest and gasping for breath.

Dunn immediately stepped forward to support Old Neil. When his hand touched Old Neil's back, he found that the old man was covered in cold sweat.

"What's going on?" Dunn asked with concern, frowning.

"I saw... I saw a silver round plate..." Old Neil paused, then relaxed. His expression slowly recovered and he continued, "There seemed to be words engraved on it. I wanted to take a closer look, but suddenly a grinning black cat face appeared on the silver plate, its mouth full of sharp teeth. Then many red eyes appeared around it, and there were bursts of strange laughter, followed by a sharp cat meow. I looked in the direction of the sound and saw the cat face on the silver plate with its mouth wide open, getting closer and closer to me, swallowing me whole."

Klein imagined that scene and broke out in a cold sweat. He looked at Dunn, his eyes filled with confusion.

"That cat, or the being behind it, could be a High-Sequence being, or possess extremely strong anti-divination abilities," Dunn speculated solemnly, frowning. "If it's the former, then this matter is beyond our ability to resolve. I hope they harbor no ill will towards Old Neil."

"Given the current situation, your divination results may not be accurate," Dunn said, looking at Klein. "You stay behind Chanis Gate. I'll send the telegram."

After saying that, Dunn left quickly. A few seconds after the captain left, the green-eyed policeman from last time rushed in.

"Hello," the man, who had a poetic and romantic temperament, rubbed his head and said, "I'm here to relieve the captain. What happened?"

"Ah~" Old Neil sighed softly.

Klein's heart, still lingering, suddenly rose again, and he looked at him intently. Leonard was touched by Klein's concerned expression. Although he didn't know what was going on, he also looked at Old Neil with a worried look on his face.

"Actually..." Old Neil paused, looking up at the two men's concerned gazes, "It's nothing serious."

"Really?" Leonard said, his heart pounding. "Old Neil, you're always like this." He turned around and looked at Klein, whose eyes were still filled with concern. He patted his shoulder and said soothingly, "Although Old Neil always likes to joke with us, he's still a very trustworthy gentleman. He wouldn't lie to us about something like this."

"I forgot to introduce myself." Leonard retracted the hand that was patting Klein's shoulder and extended a hand, saying, "Leonard Mitchell, Sequence Eight Midnight Poet."

Midnight Poet? He actually is a poet.

"Klein Moretti..." Klein replied, shaking Leonard's outstretched hand.

"I know," Leonard said, his forest-green eyes flashing with a smile. "I'm impressed by you. You have a special aura."

"Gay among gays." Klein complained in his mind to ease his tension.

Old Neil pointed to a chair and said, "Sit down and rest for a while. We can talk about it when the captain comes." Then he picked up a few yellowed papers on the table next to him and began to look through them. Those were the papers that Old Neil brought in when he came.

Klein sat upright in a chair, curiously looking at the yellowed papers in Old Neil's hands, wondering what was written on them.

Old Neil sensed Klein's curious gaze, shook the paper, and handed it to Klein. "This is Emperor Roselle's notes. It's recorded using the unique symbols invented by the Emperor. Would you like to see it?"

Klein took a look.

Chinese!

He took it with forced composure and was about to read it carefully when he heard the captain's voice. He had no choice but to reluctantly shift his gaze from Emperor Roselle's notes to the captain.

"This case likely involves a High-Sequence individual. Old Neil and Klein will go to Backlund for examination. I'll book your tickets. Her Excellency, Sword of the Goddess, Cecima, will depart for Tingen." Dunn briefly explained the general content of the reply to the three.

High sequence!
Leonard was startled and looked at Old Neil and Klein in shock. "Old Neil...are you guys really okay?"

Dunn patted Leonard on the shoulder and comforted him, "At least there's nothing wrong now, right?"

"How long will it take?" Klein asked.

"If there are no problems, you should be back soon. You should be back before tomorrow morning. If there are any problems, then your return date is unknown." Dunn said, "Backlund will send me your news by telegram. If there are any problems, I will tell your family that you are on a business trip to Backlund."

"Leonard, take them to the station." Dunn ordered Leonard.

Leonard put away his usual nonchalant attitude and nodded seriously. Just as the three were about to leave, they heard a voice from behind, "Wait a minute!"

Leonard said helplessly: "Captain, is there anything else?"

Dunn pointed at the paper in Klein's hand and said, "You can't take those out."

Leonard was a little surprised that it wasn't the captain's forgetfulness this time.

Although he was a little reluctant, Klein still knew his priorities and placed the yellowed papers on the table.
