The Han culture is spreading strongly in Southeast Asia

Chapter 754: I hope my compatriots will not forget the past

Chapter 754: I hope my compatriots will not forget the past

After offering sacrifices to the Heaven and Earth, as well as ancestors and kings of all generations, things do not end there.

For the Chinese people, including the majority Han people and the Miao, Dong, Zhuang and other ethnic groups in the south, they actually have no feelings about the Western Regions and Transoxiana, and have no sense of participation.

Even though the Qing Dynasty exterminated the Dzungars, these ethnic groups did not feel much. Even the Qing court did not want these ethnic groups to have any sense of participation, which can be seen from the change in name.

If the Han court had destroyed Dzungar, then this land would either be called the Western Regions, Anxi, or Beiting, but what did the Qing Dynasty call it?

It is the Dzungar and Hui tribes, which means that the area north of the Tianshan Mountains is the Dzungar Mongolian settlement, and the area south of the Tianshan Mountains is the home of the Hui people.

This also influenced later generations. After Zuo Wenxiang Gong recovered the Western Regions, he named it Xinjiang after his homeland Xinjiang.

But no matter how you look at it, Homeland Xinjiang should at least be called Homeland Xinjiang. How can Homeland Xinjiang simply abandon the meaning of homeland?

Don’t underestimate the change of this name, it has profoundly influenced the Chinese people’s view of this territory.

So much so that during the Republic period, not only did the later Uighurs consider Xinjiang to be their ancestral land, but many Han people also thought so.

It's really funny. When the Han people entered the Western Regions during the Western Han Dynasty to educate the local Tocharians and other white people, the Uighurs had not even been born yet. Who the hell was the latecomer? Don't they have any idea?
Therefore, after offering sacrifices to the ancestors of heaven and earth, Mo Zibu must also strengthen the legitimacy of obtaining this territory since ancient times. This is not for outsiders to see, but for his own people to see.

It must be strengthened so that everyone agrees that this is the ancient land of the Han Dynasty, in case that decades or hundreds of years later, future generations find it troublesome and easily abandon this land, or some people with ulterior motives describe the current Western Regions-Hezhong War as an invasion.

So, after offering sacrifices to the heavens, the earth and the ancestors, Mo Zibu erected a huge stone tablet outside Qingliang Gate, the busiest area of the Qinhuai River.

The inscription on the stone tablet was written by Emperor Mo Da's daughter-in-law, mathematician, astronomer, and writer, Crown Prince Zhaoyi Wang Zhenyi herself. It mainly commemorates the 13.2 million people who died in the Northwest Chaos.

This number includes not only the Han people who died, but also the disciples who converted to religion.

Here, Mo Zibu classified them all as Han people, and attributed the chaos to the fact that after the Han Dynasty fell, a large number of Han people in the northwest believed the evil words of the mysterious sect in Hezhong, abandoned their ancestors and turned to the Tianfang, which eventually led to internal killings.

The inscription reads:
'Hexi and Longyou are the hometown of Emperor Xi, the place pioneered by Huo, Piao and Yao during the Han Dynasty, and the place where the ancestors of the Tang Dynasty nobles lived.

This is a blessed land created by heaven, with cattle and sheep lining the roads, grain prices always low, and the people enjoying their work. It is truly a paradise for China.

Recalling the chaos of the past, jackals and wolves howled and gathered in Shasu, Ganliang, and beacon fires spread across the Hehuang, Jingwei, and Wei rivers. Young men died in the swords and arrows, and women and children filled the ditches. Nine out of ten houses were empty, and the smoke from cooking stopped.

Heaven is cruel and has sent down this disaster. It is not only a dispute among sects, but also a tragedy for China.

Looking at the catastrophe as a whole, it seems to have started from a grudge, which spread like wildfire, but in fact it was instigated by scoundrels.

The land in Hezhong belonged to Dayuan in the Han Dynasty and Zhaowu in the Tang Dynasty. It has been a vassal state of China since ancient times. However, it is a barbarian and rat-like country that fears power but does not cherish virtue. It does not know etiquette or human relations, and it admires the strong and bullies the weak.

Seeing that the Han Dynasty was on the verge of collapse, he spread evil words in Hehuang and spread hatred and poison to the Three Qins, causing my brothers to fight against each other, my flesh and blood to kill each other, my hometown to be reduced to scorched earth, and my children to become wronged ghosts.

Fortunately, our army and people are united and work together, relying on the divine power of Your Majesty, and the one hundred thousand heavenly soldiers, who avenge the people and punish the criminals, destroy their countries and punish their clans, kill their leaders and cut off their roots, eradicate the poisonous soil and build the kingdom of heaven, eliminate disasters and follow the will of humanity.

Alas, blood feud can be avenged, but how can people be brought back?

There are countless desolate graves, the cold wind is blowing, the words on the broken tombstones have disappeared, who can remember the names of those years?
The spring swallows return, but it is hard to find their old home; the autumn phosphorus flickers, and the sound of wronged souls wails!
I am now writing this inscription to offer my sacrifice in the imperial capital, hoping that my fellow countrymen will not forget this disaster, but will defend Hezhong and keep the northwest court safe.

Let us mourn for them and learn from them, so that future generations will not mourn for future generations.'

Well, as soon as Wang Zhenyi's inscription came out, the Hezhong area was immediately completely incorporated into the Han Dynasty. Not only did it declare that this place had long been a vassal state of the Han Dynasty, but it also warned future generations of the consequences of losing this place.

Mo Zibu was very satisfied, so he decided to build a temple next to the inscription, named Anxi Sages Temple, mainly to worship the Han men who made great achievements in the Hezhong area of the Western Regions and people of various ethnic groups who were loyal to the court.

For example, Zhang Qian, the Marquis of Bowang, who opened up the Western Regions during the Western Han Dynasty; Princess Jieyou and her maidservant, who married into the Wusun tribe; Lady Feng Ling, who used her maidservant status to comfort the Wusun tribe; and Fu Jiezi, who beheaded the King of Loulan.

Of course, there are also Ban Chao and Ban Yong, father and son of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and Chen Tang, who declared that anyone who openly offends the powerful Han Dynasty must be punished even if they are far away.

As for the famous generals of the Tang Dynasty such as Li Jing, Su Dingfang, Ashina She'er, even Hou Junji and Gao Xianzhi, who had both good and bad reputations, were included.

Of course, there is also the iron-blooded Prince Guo Xin who led his troops to defend Anxi alone, and the last lonely guardian of Han culture in the Western Regions, the King of Khotan Li Shengtian and his son Li Congde.

Mo Zibu handed over the daily management of the Anxi Sages' Temple to the White Lotus Sect. He asked his father-in-law, Zheng Xin, the Cihang Pudu Zunfo, to select three great monks from the White Lotus Sect from Xining to be the abbots.

In the future, the Anxi Sages' Temple will become the main ancestral temple of the White Lotus Sect in Nanjing City, and various religious policies in the Western Regions and Hezhong will also be communicated through the Anxi Sages' Temple.

After the legal issues have been completed, there are still administrative issues.

Today, Dayu's Western Army has basically conquered the Central Asian region and most of the Kazakh steppe. In the future, it will continue to advance and take over the Tocharian Basin, which is the northern part of Afghanistan and the entire Tajikistan in later generations.

In the entire Central Asia, basically only the land near the Caspian Sea of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan is out of control.

This adds up to almost two million square kilometers, plus the two million square kilometers of the Hui and Junggar tribes at that time, a total of four million square kilometers.

With such a large area, several provinces must be established.

In the Wenhua Hall, even though it has been discussed many times, there are still many controversial issues.

The biggest problem is who should be responsible for the integration and arrangement of such a large territory and such a complicated situation in the Western Regions, that is, who should be the leader.

Li Xianwen, no.

Mo Zibu himself shook his head. It was not that he was worried about his brother-in-law, but Li Xianwen's ambitions were basically exhausted after this battle.

Mo Zibu is 48 years old this year, and Li Xianwen is eleven years older than him and is 59 years old this year.

Throughout his life, he ran from Sichuan to Guangdong, then from Guangdong to Southeast Asia, and then followed Mo Zibu to fight all the way back from Southeast Asia. Now he has reached the river.

So when he took over as the Grand Marshal of the Western Army, Li Xianwen wrote a secret letter to Mo Zibu, which was delivered by his wife, Mo Zibu's elder sister, the Princess of Yue, Mo Hui.

Li Xianwen clearly stated in the letter that after obtaining the title of King of Xia, he only planned to work in Dingxia City for five years. If he was lucky enough to survive after five years, he would still like to return to Nanjing to retire.

People have already said so, but it is definitely inappropriate to still put a heavy burden on them, so Mo Zibu slowly shook his head.

"The Prince of Ningxia is already old. Since the Yuan Cong era, he has fought wars all over the country. I really can't bear to tire him any further."

Mo Zibu was afraid that the ministers would misunderstand that he was suspicious of Li Xianwen, so he added, "This is also the opinion of my eldest sister. She doesn't want to go to Dayuan."

The court officials understood that it was not the emperor's suspicion, but the Prince of Ningxia really did not want to continue doing the hard labor of an ox or a horse.

"Even Duke Dingguo won't do." Prime Minister Luo Fangbai rejected the second option. This man, who had been prime minister for almost ten years, was actually quite qualified.

In particular, he was able to put aside his partisanship and promote capable people. He never put personal interests above public interests and never retaliated for personal gain. He almost completely lived up to the ideal of a prime minister who could hold a boat in his stomach, and was known as the Prime Minister.

Therefore, with such a reputation, Luo Fangbai spoke with fewer scruples, and even dared to deny Chen Guangyao, the emperor's cousin and savior who no one dared to offend.

"Duke Dingguo has done a good job in the Northeastern Mission because the four provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Lingbei have more military than civil affairs, and are home to many Jurchen tribes. They need a strong figure to suppress them and bring them into submission.

However, the evildoers in the Western Regions and Central Asia have been largely eradicated. What needs to be done now is to relocate at least 500,000 households to develop the border areas and manage the relationships with at least 300 vassal states. Duke Dingguo is not capable of this task."

You know what, it makes sense. Chen Guangyao did a good job in the Northeast Mission. In fact, the main achievements are just as Luo Fangbai said.

Chen Guangyao used force as his main focus, suppressing, appeasing and annexing others along the way. Whether it was developing the Northeast water network or taking over Lingbei, he always used force as his starting point.

Furthermore, Chen Guangyao had two other men who supported him in terms of civil administration. One was Li Huang, the former Liaoning governor and current acting commissioner of the Northeastern Commission. Li Huang, who ranked eleventh in the second class of the imperial examination in the Xinmao year of the Qianlong reign (1771), was a prominent figure. Before Mo Zibu's conquest of Nanjing, with the entire nation watching, he dared to raise his flag and welcome the Great Yu army. This was quite remarkable.

The other was Heshen, the special commissioner in charge of the Shenyang-Anshan-Fushun Coal and Iron Special Zone and the chief executive officer of the Northeast Division of the Fuxing Company. The industrial development of the Northeast was basically carried out by Heshen under the instructions of Mo Zibu.

With these two people supporting him, Chen Guangyao can naturally do a good job.

However, when it came to the Western Regions and Hezhong, more emphasis was placed on civil governance, and without Li Huang and Heshen to help Chen Guangyao, it was indeed possible that Chen Guangyao would not be able to do a good job.

But this is an awkward situation. Li Xianwen doesn't want to do it, and Chen Guangyao can't do it. The only two people who can do it and have the qualifications are Chen Lian and Lin Qiaoyin.

However, among these two people, Chen Lian, the Duke of Yue, is currently the Prime Minister of the Nanyang Mission and cannot be moved at all.

Lin Qiaoyin, the first mainland scholar to defect to Mo Zibu, is currently serving as the Prime Minister of the East Asian Mission. He not only has to control hundreds of Eastern vassal states for the court, but also has to coordinate their manpower and efforts to develop North America. He cannot move either.

Moreover, Lin Qiaoyin was originally qualified to be the prime minister, but he was specially transferred because he was to guard the East. There is really no reason to let people go to the Western Regions and Hezhong to work like slaves. That would be too much of a waste of time for "honest people".

Originally, there was a man named Chen Qiuze who was being trained by the emperor, but this guy was too bold and caused such a big trouble in Hanchuan (Lower Burma). Now he definitely cannot be used, and no one dares to use him.

Oh, there is another suitable candidate, that is Lin Tong, who was originally the Cardinal Minister of the Inner Court, and later the Prime Minister of the Outer Court, and now is the Imperial Commissioner of the Joint Coal and Iron Office of Guangdong, Guangxi and Guangnan, and the President of Guangzhou Imperial College.

Thinking of this person, even Luo Fangbai, who was always tolerant, shook his head secretly.

Lin Tong’s ability is certainly sufficient, but his resignation due to Chen Qiuze’s concealment of the incident was actually a tacit political conspiracy.

At that time, the emperor relied on Lin Tong to control the inner and outer courts, and his power was even greater than that of Qianlong.

But at the same time, the emperor needed to give up some of his power in exchange for all classes contributing money and effort, thus entering into semi-capitalism.

Therefore, almost all the officials tacitly weighed Chen Qiuze, and from the weight of less than three taels on the scale, they directly put him on the scale, and even a thousand pounds could not be weighed.

Then, taking this opportunity, he drove Lin Tong, who was born into an imperial family, out of the core layer.

Mo Zibu naturally thought of Lin Tong, but he sighed in his heart and did not mention it, because Lin Tong had also told him the truth when he was dismissed.

Because apart from being the emperor's most useful lackey, there were indeed a large number of ambitious people who felt they were not fulfilled and came to Lin Tong for help. In order to help the emperor control the outer court, Lin Tong really needed these people as his minions.

So, this became a dead end. Lin Tong said to the emperor with a wry smile that either he cut off his lifeline now, or the emperor completely turned the inner court into the Imperial Household Department, and he would become Liu Jin or Wei Zhongxian.

Otherwise, Lin Tong would become like Zhang Tang or Lai Junchen, going all the way for the emperor and eventually becoming a tool for the emperor to explain to the people of the world.

Mo Zibu naturally would not return to the old system of the Ming Dynasty because there was no need to do so, and he was reluctant to let Lin Tong suffer the same fate as Zhang Tang and Lai Junchen, so he had no choice but to let him go.

Neither this nor that worked, and everyone's eyes finally turned to one person.

That is the Crown Prince Sen!
As the eldest son of the emperor, Da Lao Sen's ability is obvious to all. At the age of 18, after Li Xianwen left Shaanxi and Gansu, he was able to stabilize the northwest, which was in a state of disrepair, and he was also able to continue to draw supplies to the Western Army for combat in the already difficult northwest without causing any major chaos. His governance ability is absolutely impeccable.

At the same time, Big Brother Sen can recognize and use people, and has quite good skills in managing his subordinates. Except for his military talents which have nowhere to show, the rest can be rated almost 85 points.

Mo Zibu really didn't expect that in the end, it would be his son who would go to Hezhong and the Western Regions.

Mo Zibu was reluctant to even let Asen go to appease the Western Army soldiers, let alone let him go more than 10,000 miles away to take charge. If anything really happened, it would be too late to regret.

Asen was also stunned, the words of his mother, Concubine Chen, were still ringing in his ears.

How can a crown prince be away from home all year round and give up his close position to his father to others? Your Mo family has a history of longevity. Your father still has at least another twenty years, or even thirty or forty years to live.

You haven't been by his side for a long time. If some prince takes advantage of the situation, do you still think you can keep your position as the crown prince?
This makes sense. It is the bitter lesson learned by my cousin, Concubine Chen, after decades of palace struggles, and it is also recognized by Asen's godmother, Concubine Ye De.

However, after thinking it over and over again, Asen finally stood up, because he felt that he was a man and the crown prince of the Dayu Dynasty, and he had the responsibility to share the worries and solve the problems for the country, the nation, and his father.

"Father, let me go. I will move the Northwest Mission to the Western Regions and Hezhong.

My father is in his prime, and I don't need to worry about his health. My younger brothers have grown up, and there is someone who can show filial piety to them.

Let me go to the Western Regions and Hezhong for ten years, and use those ten years to completely stabilize these two places."

Looking at his son Arsen's appearance, Mo Zibu was extremely shocked and felt a lump in his nose.

His son was no longer the pitiful little boy who was forced by his mother to learn everything and only acted like a child when he was with him.

Now, he has grown into a responsible, determined man who will go forward even if there are thousands of people against him.

During the brief silence, Mo Zibu also thought a lot, but no matter what decision was made, it would not be more effective than having Crown Prince Asen in charge for ten years.

"Two hundred thousand soldiers of the Western Army fought for ten years, never turning back, their blood shed across thousands of miles.

Thirty million people in Shaanxi and Gansu sacrificed their homes to help the country, and tens of thousands of people died, leading to the current results.

"The innocent people are like this. As the most respected person in the world, how can I shrink back from moving forward just because I feel sorry for my children?"

Mo Zibu was really reluctant to let go of this person, as this was the successor he had trained with great effort, so he could only force himself to be bound by the greater good and build up his mental strength.

"Issue an imperial decree to confer upon Mo Guangkun the title of Prince of Guangxin, and the title of Crown Prince."

"Rename the Grand Duke of Southern Qi, Mo Zhoumo, to Duke of Zheng. No need to go to vassalage."

"Order the Prince of Hanchuan to immediately take up his fiefdom in Hanchuan and not return to the Red County of Shenzhou without permission."

"I order the nine surnames of Cao, Bai, Mi, Shi, Kang, An, Shi, He, and Xue to each volunteer 10,000 households to become the new Zhaowu Nine Surnames, accompanying the Crown Prince to Hezhong to cultivate and garrison the border."

The main members of the Cao, Bai and other surnames were definitely not Sogdians among the Nine Surnames of Zhaowu, but Mo Zibu wanted to arrange it this way so that people all over the world would regard Hezhong as the land of the Han people and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Mo Guangkun was the fourth grandson of the emperor born to Crown Princess Ye.

This Ye family was of Hakka origin in Meizhou, and was recognized by the Mingxiang people represented by the Chen family and the Jiaojilang people in western Guangdong. She was also the legitimate Crown Princess, so the third-generation heir could only be her son.

The reason why we didn’t get Mo Zibu’s confirmation before was because of various considerations. But now that Asen is going to travel ten thousand miles away, it’s time to confirm it.

Mo Zibu's arrangement was to tell Asen that if anything happens to you, the Dayu Dynasty will be like the Ming Dynasty, and only your son will inherit the throne.

At the same time, Mo Zibu ordered the emperor's second son, Prince of Hanchuan, Mo Zhouxu, who was born to Empress Zheng Shishi's concubine, commonly known as the maid Wu, to be enfeoffed immediately. This meant that there would not be a second Zhu Di in the Dayu Dynasty.

The seventh son of the Southern Qi Grand Duke, Mo Zhoumo, was a half-brother of Crown Prince Asen, so their names were almost the same.

The Grand Duchy of Southern Qi was a vassal state of Mozhou, which was formerly Aceh. After the Aceh genocide, tens of thousands of Chinese were relocated there. It was originally intended to be a vassal state of Mozhou.

Now Mo Zhoumo was changed from the Grand Duke of Southern Qi to the Duke of Zheng, an internal honor, to give an explanation to Asen's mother, Concubine Chen.

Her beloved eldest son went to the river in the Western Regions, but she left her second son with her, which was somewhat of a compensation.

Seeing that his father had made good arrangements, Asen looked a little embarrassed, and Mo Zibu quickly waved his hand and asked him to leave.

After finishing the important affairs of the court, Asen should hurry back to comfort his mother, Concubine Chen, and his partner. This is not a matter of going to Lanzhou and being away for one or two years, but ten years and traveling ten thousand miles to the west.
