Chapter 33 Home
Chapter 33 Going Home
After standing in the ruins of the large complex building at the Federal University for a full five minutes, Lin Wang still couldn't remember where his home was.
So he decided to bother the people from the Public Security Bureau again.
There was no way—he was still a newcomer in this alien world, and so far he only knew three people, two of whom were from the Public Security Bureau...
Most of my connections are in the public security field.JPG
There is another reason:
He was now covered in blood and his clothes were torn. Although he didn't look too scary in the ruins of the Federal University, standing on the street in such clothes...
It will probably take at most ten minutes before he is sent back to the police station by caring citizens.
So he took advantage of the fact that most of the sheriffs knew him and got into a sheriff's car uninvited.
Then, a thin, cold face and a pair of tightly pursed thin lips appeared in front of him.
"Section Chief Jiang?" Lin Wang was stunned.
The female sheriff sitting across from him was also startled, but she quickly regained her icy expression and raised an eyebrow curiously: "Lin Wang? Why did you get in my car?"
"I need help," Lin Wang said frankly, "I can't remember where I live."
There was nothing to hide about it—he really couldn't remember where he lived.
Deep in his soul, the consciousness belonging to the original owner was still confused. Even after Lin Wang possessed the white fire and absorbed the power of the false god, the chaotic state of that consciousness became even more serious.
Now, it is almost impossible for Lin Wang to search for some information from that consciousness.
Every time he tried to mobilize his mental strength, dive into the dormant consciousness, search for information or establish communication with the latter, he could only get a bunch of chaotic thoughts like cotton wool.
That heavy and confused feeling was like taking a stinky taxi back to school after booking seven consecutive nights in an Internet cafe, and when you entered the dormitory, you smelled your roommate's stinky feet.
So Lin Wang had no way of searching for his home address on his own.
Of course, when he expressed his needs to Jiang Shanjun, he did not reveal any of his secrets, only saying that he had lost some memories.
"So, you hit your head in battle and lost some of your memory... and forgot your home address?"
After hearing Lin Wang's words, Jiang Shanjun raised his eyes, stared at Lin Wang for a few seconds, and then nodded: "I understand, the Public Security Bureau can help you with this."
She beckoned over a subordinate, whispered a few instructions to him, and then looked at Lin Wang: "Anything else?"
"If possible, please help me find some clothes." Lin Wang raised his hands and gestured to the other party, "My clothes are all torn."
"The Sheriff's Bureau's combat uniforms are all customized according to height." Jiang Shanjun shook his head slightly. "We don't have any Northerners as sheriffs, but..."
She thought for a moment and then changed the subject: "In order to accommodate more people, the prison uniforms are quite large in size..."
"It's okay, I'll go home and find my clothes." Lin Wang quickly interrupted her mumbling.
If you come home wearing prison uniform, the neighbors will probably know about it within two hours - there's a newly released prisoner living in this house!
But I have to wash off this blood before I go home...Will showering in the school fountain...I'll probably make the headlines...
Lin Wang's brain began to wander uncontrollably again. At this moment, Jiang Shanjun suddenly said something, interrupting his wandering thoughts.
"Other than that... the Public Security Bureau probably can't help you." Jiang Shanjun suddenly said, "How about this, I'll take you back!"
"Ah?" Lin Wang didn't react for a moment.
"You've done a lot for the Public Security Bureau, and they deserve something in return." Jiang Shanjun had regained his composure, radiating the aura of a section chief. "That's settled. Sit tight, and let's go."
The Sheriff's Department shuttle bus started.
Lin Wang sat in the slightly bumpy car.
During the trip, he had expected Jiang Shanjun to ask him many questions about the details of the previous crime scene. However, the female section chief was busy directing the scene over the phone and barely spoke to him.
However, during these limited conversations, Lin Wang heard a detail that concerned him: there was something strange about the magic array technology used by the Blood Cultists when they summoned the "new god".
But Jiang Shanjun was too busy and her phone calls almost never stopped, so she didn't explain this matter clearly to Lin Wang.
From the rest of Jiang Shanjun's conversation, Lin Wang analyzed a detail: although she was not at the scene, she knew the scene and the previous battle very well.
The Public Security Bureau's intelligence capabilities...are much greater than I imagined...
Lin Wang was thinking to himself. At this moment, the car paused slightly and stopped.
Jiang Shanjun tilted his head and glanced out the car window. After confirming, he nodded: "Apartment 11, Tongyang Street, Room 302. We're here."
She looked at Lin Wang again and said, "Just send it here. Thank you again for your help to the Public Security Bureau."
Lin Wang nodded, thanked Jiang Shanjun as well, then opened the car door and turned around.
Just as he was about to get off the bus, he suddenly seemed to remember something and turned back: "Oh, there's one more thing."
A hint of surprise appeared on Jiang Shanjun's cold face: "Please speak."
"I'm helping the Public Security Bureau with this case...so I'm considered a caring citizen, right?"
"Yes."
"Then does the Public Security Bureau offer any rewards to enthusiastic citizens?" Lin Wang rubbed his hands and smiled. "You know, I've taken a leave of absence, so it's definitely affected my income."
This case alone is enough to generate at least ten trending articles for you! And you still say it affects your work!
Jiang Shanjun glared at Lin Wang fiercely, took a deep breath, and gritted his teeth: "According to the regulations..."
She wanted to say that according to regulations, there was such money, but she suddenly remembered a regulation of the Public Security Bureau that had not been activated for a long time.
When the words were on the tip of his tongue, Jiang Shanjun changed his mind.
She smiled and said, "The Public Security Bureau can give a special identity, compared to..."
"I choose my identity." Before Jiang Shanjun finished speaking, Lin Wang made a quick decision.
"Are you sure?" Jiang Shanjun seemed to have not expected Lin Wang to make such a quick decision. He looked at him with some surprise, "You didn't even ask how much the reward was for the enthusiastic citizen?"
"It doesn't matter. I choose my identity." Lin Wang emphasized again.
For him, money is enough as long as it is enough to spend.
What he is really interested in is finding out the truth about this world.
In this process, the identity of a newspaper reporter is in no way as useful as the identity provided by the Public Security Bureau.
So... don't worry about it at all, just choose your identity.
"I understand. The Public Security Bureau will assign you the identity of a 'specially invited detective.'" Jiang Shanjun nodded and suddenly smiled. "Actually, what I wanted to say just now was that they would give you both the identity and the bonus at the same time."
Damn, I lost money.
"Why should I be in such a hurry..." Lin Wang slapped his forehead.
Jiang Shanjun seemed to enjoy the feeling of making Lin Wang lose face. After saying this, she said goodbye to Lin Wang and left.
After watching the commuter bus leave, Lin Wang turned his head to look at the apartment building in front of him.
In front of me was a three-story apartment building facing the street. It was simple and old-fashioned, with brick walls and wooden window frames. There were some strange patterns engraved on the walls - almost every building in Tangsheng City had some such patterns.
The main door of the apartment was half-open, there was no one at the door, and a black iron wall lamp beside the door emitted a faint warm light.
Even before entering the door, Lin Wang already felt a slightly familiar and warm atmosphere.
He didn't want anyone to see him covered in blood, so he quickly pushed the door open, entered the corridor, and went up to the third floor.
Not long after, he stood in front of the main entrance of 302.
"So... this is my home."
Lin Wang took a breath, looking forward to what his room would look like.
Then he touched his pocket and his face changed.
Lin Wang encountered an extremely serious problem:
"Shit, where's my house key?"
