Chapter 364 Old York must be a great pirate!

Torreira Island is a very ordinary little island in the Luther Islands. Although it is nominally under the control of the Woodnas family, its port is of poor quality and it has no special products. George clearly hadn't expected Jack to call a story "information" without batting an eye. Seeing his newly acquainted crew member say this, and having no other leads of his own, he offered words of comfort:
"Let's go and see first. Even if we make a mistake, it doesn't matter. At worst, we can just go to an illegal area."

"Are we just going to trespass into illegal territory?" Jack thought to himself, but he was already preparing to land.

During these past few days of sailing, he has either been pondering his own divine magical abilities or fighting with George.

On the one hand, it ensured that George wouldn't be paralyzed by pain from taking a few bullets, and on the other hand, it allowed him to adapt to how to use his abilities.

As they approached the shore, he jumped off the bow deck and, after a slight rocking and ripple, landed steadily on the water.

His ability is to control the dryness of the surrounding environment, in other words, the scarcity of water. It seems to be a skill that counters moisture, at most extending into lethal moves that dry out and dehydrate enemies.

But Jack, being illiterate, had a unique way of thinking. He kept the water under his feet at full depth, while keeping the water on the top of his feet completely dry. This resulted in the water being fixed in a stable state with his feet as the dividing line, preventing him from sinking or bouncing up. In this way, he could glide on the sea like an ice skater—even though he had no idea what ice skating was.

"I really envy your abilities." Seeing that Jack had already started running, George left behind a solidified illusion, activated the ship's sentry mode, and had the ship's AI patrol nearby before turning on the drone's flight mode and carrying him to catch up.

"I envy you! This ability will fail if you're not careful, unlike yours, which you can activate without any worries!" Jack glanced at George, who was acting all smug about getting the benefit, and as he spoke, he lost his footing and almost fell into the sea. However, his reflexes, honed from years of fishing, kept up. With a thought, he pushed the water away from his foot in the sea, and a springy force bounced him up.

Jack adjusted his posture in mid-air and landed steadily on the shore, while George landed right behind him and turned the drone back into a backpack.

Now that he had a moment to spare, Jack began to recall the roads in old York's story, but to avoid George pressing him about the source of the information, he quickly changed the subject:

Why didn't you use this before?

“This thing is extremely precious. It can withstand a few bullets, but it will be destroyed after just one shot. Although my ship has repair modules, being shot down while airborne is much more dangerous than being shot on the ground!” Upon hearing Jack’s question, George did not inquire about the intelligence. The two continued along the animal trail and soon saw several men dressed as sailors.

"Oh, looks like your intelligence is correct!" George's eyes lit up when he saw the sailors, and he immediately whispered to Jack. Jack chuckled dryly, not replying, but simply reminding him to stay alert while maintaining his distance from the sailors and continuing forward.

Soon, more and more sailors and adventurers surrounded them. After walking for about twenty minutes, there were already five or six teams with a total of more than thirty people on the road.

These people all looked relatively young, and most of them were dressed in sailor uniforms or the kind that could be bought in Catania Port. The "adventurer's set" that Old York described as a complete swindle for fools was probably for the same purpose. When they actually arrived at their destination, apart from one group, the rest of them all showed expressions of surprise and disappointment.

What appeared before them was not the pre-civilization megastructure they had imagined, hidden deep within the island, but rather a village that looked like the thatched huts of the natives.

"I told you you'd been scammed, didn't I?"

Before Jack could say anything to George, he heard a commotion from a squad. He looked at George with some concern, but George just smiled and pointed to the squad that was walking forward without hesitation.

Jack immediately understood and followed, soon encountering a middle-aged man who was only wrapped in a layer of coarse cloth.

"Dear guests, is this your first time here?"

“I brought a newcomer.” In the leading group, a young man who looked about the same age as George raised his hand, revealing a wristwatch. Upon seeing this, the middle-aged man nodded, signaling him to enter the village.

Jack wanted to say that he was introduced by Old York, but after thinking about it carefully, he realized that he really didn't know anything about Old York. What if he was actually a notorious pirate with enemies all over the world?
Thinking of this, he revealed his slick side and said:

"This is our first time here, but I heard about this place from my elders."

As he said this, he made a gesture, as if he were introducing someone he knew well.

"I see." The middle-aged man looked at the gesture and nodded. "It's just one more round of explanation. Anyway, you're taking responsibility for your own lives."

After saying that, the middle-aged man stepped aside to make way for them.

Seeing this, Jack didn't hesitate and led George inside. George was slightly surprised and whispered:
"There's no harm in listening more, is there?"

“It’s not just about attending an extra class. There’s a lot of shady stuff going on here. Don’t assume that all the seekers of the land are good people!” Jack was about to tell him about the trials in Old York’s story when suddenly his feet trembled.

"Could it be a trap?" Jack panicked, but then noticed George's unexpected calm. Before the country bumpkin could ask a question, the ground suddenly sank, and then the once quiet jungle tribe suddenly became noisy.

Looking at this unfamiliar scene, Jack recalled the great adventures old York had described, and a thought suddenly occurred to him—

"Old York must have been a formidable pirate!"
