Two Worlds: I studied abroad at Hogwarts

Chapter 112 Magical Calming Potion

Chapter 112 Magical Calming Potion
Last time in the club, Moon and Cedric discussed the use of spore powder.

Later, at Moon's suggestion, Cedric went to the library to look for relevant potion information.

"You're right. I think using spore powder to make a sleeping potion is a bit of an overkill."

Cedric said as he and Moon returned to the Herbal Club, which was just around the corner from the stairs.

Because today was not a gathering day, there were only two of them in the Herbal Club.

"You can take a look. These are some anesthetic and sedative drugs I found in the library."

Cedric said as he handed Moon a piece of parchment with the names and uses of three potions written on it in blue ink.

The first one is [Relief Potion].

This drug is mainly used to calm and soothe the patient's irritability and anxiety, but excessive use may cause permanent and irreversible sleep.

The ingredients for making the potion include moonstone powder, hellebore syrup, tarragon, lavender, and mint.

The refining method is empty?

Moon looked at the blank space on the parchment and raised his head to look at Cedric curiously.

"I don't have access to the detailed methods for refining these three potions right now. Once I can decide which one to refine, I'll go to Professor Sprout to get a loan note."

"Ok."

After Moon finished speaking, he continued to read the contents of the parchment.
-
The second potion Cedric recorded was the [Forgetfulness Potion].

This potion is a magical sedative potion commonly used in St. Mungo's Wizarding Hospital.

It can make people forget some painful or unpleasant memories and is a common potion for wizards with severe mental trauma.

The ingredients needed to make the Forget-Me-Not potion are valerian, sleepy beans, and mistletoe berries.
-
The third potion is [Decoction of Living Hell].

This is an extremely powerful sleeping anesthetic drug, and its effect is similar to that of unconsciousness and suspended animation.

To make this potion, you need to prepare mugwort infusion, sedative grass powder, and lacewings.

"I haven't seen these three potions before, but are you sure spore powder can be used in these?"

This was the first time Moon had seen the names of these three potions, so he wasn't quite sure.

Cedric, on the other hand, was extremely excited. He took the parchment and first pointed to the list of raw materials for the [Relaxing Potion].

"The lavender in the soothing potion has a calming and sleep-inducing effect."

Then he pointed to the forgetfulness potion.

"This sleepy bean from South America is a powerful calming fruit."

"And the lacewings in the last living hell decoction. They have a strong anesthetic effect."

Moon looked at the potion ingredients one by one, then spoke thoughtfully.

"So you want to use spore powder to replace these things and see if you can make a similar potion?"

"Indeed, the cost and difficulty of refining these three potions are very high. If the spore powder can be successful, then I will definitely be shortlisted for next year's competition."

Seeing Cedric so confident, Moon couldn't discourage him. He just thought about it for a moment and continued.

"Then what we need to do now is to conduct purification tests on the spore powder, and then we can determine who it can replace."

Moon said this while pointing to the potion ingredients that Cedric had just circled.

"I thought so too, but spore powder is a new thing after all, and I haven't figured out how to conduct the improvement experiment yet."

Hearing Cedric say this, Moon once again stared at the glass bottle containing the spore powder.

Although the sleepy-face fungus has been transformed into a completely different appearance after the two of them, it is still a low-lying creature that lives close to the ground.

This causes its spores to inevitably be contaminated by various soils, sands, gravels and impurities.

Thinking of this, Moon recalled the "Elementary Magical Potion Analysis" that he had been studying recently.

This book mentions three types of separation solutions, one of which seems to be able to deal with this situation.

"I have an idea that might work."

After explaining the function of the separation potion to Cedric, the young wizard excitedly went to prepare this simple potion. After leaving the club, Moon quickly returned to the common room.

Now exactly twenty-four hours should have passed, and the terracotta figurines that had been fired for a whole day should be out of the oven.

Sure enough, when Moon returned to the lounge, he found all the little wizards waiting for him in front of the fireplace.

"how's it going?"

Moon approached and asked Hermione next to him.

"I said to wait until all the matches were burned out, but Seamus said he wasn't afraid, so..."

After listening to Hermione's explanation, Moon looked at Seamus, who was wearing a dragon leather hand and happily stretched his hand towards the fireplace.

"He really likes flames!"

"Yes, although it's hard to understand."

While Moon and Hermione were discussing, Seamus had already taken out the terracotta figurines one by one and placed them on the pre-prepared stone slabs.

"Be careful not to burn the floor."

Looking at the hot terracotta figurines, Ron unconsciously took a step back.

"Don't worry, Ron, we have two masters here who are proficient in the [Repair Spell]."

Harry said looking towards Hermione and Moon.

Ron also glanced at the two of them, then said helplessly, "Okay."

The attention of the young wizards present was focused on the terracotta figurine.

Hermione held up a stopwatch and said it had to be left to cool for enough time.

Click.

When the stopwatch ended, Ron couldn't wait to smash open the sealed pottery jar with his name on it.

"It's bad, Scabbers has no tail."

Ron took out a cute little mouse from the pottery jar, but its tail was broken.

Seamus followed suit and opened his jar, revealing a lively little lizard.

However, because the claws were too thin, the little lizard's originally pointed toenails were all broken.

The same problem occurred with Hermione's cat figurine.

When she was trimming the cat's ears, she deliberately pinched them thinner to make them look better, resulting in only half of the cat's ear being left.

Fortunately, Owl, Toad, and Niffler did not encounter any major problems.

When Harry was making the terracotta figurine [Hedwig], he was lazy and didn't trim the owl's claws, so he luckily avoided having the claws broken.

The terracotta figurine [Lai Fu] is simple to make.

Moreover, when Neville was making the figurine, he forgot the steps Hermione told him, so he put the base of the figurine into the fireplace.

This also allows the claws of the toad figurine to be preserved.

However, the shape of the Xiuxiu pottery figurine has been well preserved.

Because of his experience in wood carving, Moon knew that the thinner the parts, the more likely they would break, so he reinforced the Niffler's claws.

"What should I do? All three of my mice are tailless."

"Actually, I think it looks pretty good without the tail."

Harry now picked up his only intact clay owl figurine.

At this moment, Hermione was stroking the three cats with broken ears with some regret.

"It's okay, at worst we can do it again this weekend."
