Two Worlds: I studied abroad at Hogwarts

Chapter 59 Hagrid's Secret

Chapter 59 Hagrid's Secret

"Little one, we meet again."

After arriving at the cabin, Bengbeng was obviously happier than Moon.

Hagrid got out some dried worm snacks and Fang carried them around for fun.

Seeing the two pets having fun, Hagrid turned to look at Moon.

"Thank goodness you came today, otherwise I really don't know what to do with these two little guys."

As Hagrid spoke, he brought out two pots of flowers from under the eaves of the wooden house. These were the water lilies that Moon had given him to kill insects.

Now that the pumpkins have entered harvest season, the lid on the water lily is completely closed.

"Actually, you don't have to worry at all. This kind of grass really likes a cool, humid environment, and your place is just right."

Moon took the flowerpot and looked at the flower tube of the water lily, which was already densely packed with dead insects.

"I see. I even went to Madam Pince to borrow some books, but I couldn't find any reference to this plant."

Moon's heart tightened at what Hagrid said.

Aquarius plant is not a plant from this world at all, so of course it cannot be found.

Fortunately, Hagrid didn't delve into it, otherwise he would have to make some explanations against his will.

"Actually, you don't need to look for any information. This grass is very adaptable. It will enter a dormant period in the winter to warm the seeds, and they will grow more in the spring of the following year."

"That's good. They really helped me this year. I harvested the most pumpkins ever."

Hagrid said as he put the two pots of flowers back under the eaves, then gently stroked the well-fed flowers with his hand.

"Don't worry, little one. If your population grows larger next year, I will find a good place for you in the Forbidden Forest."

Hearing these familiar words, Moon recalled that Hagrid seemed to have said something similar to Bongbong.

It was the beginning of the school year, and Hagrid was worried that Bung would not be able to live in the castle, so he said he would find a place for Bung in the Forbidden Forest.

Thinking of this, Moon looked towards the gloomy forbidden forest in the distance.

Could it be that all the dangerous factors there are caused by Hagrid?

"Okay, come inside. What's so good about the Forbidden Forest? I've saved over twenty little pumpkins just for you."

Hagrid's voice brought Moon back to his senses, and he hurried to follow him into the house.

"Hagrid, are you using some new grafting method?"

Looking at the two baskets of pumpkins in front of him with huge differences in size, Moon couldn't help but feel puzzled.

Moon studied crop cultivation for four years at York Farm, but this was the first time he had seen such stark differences in the pumpkins of the same variety.

"Oh, that's actually my secret."

Hagrid said this and subconsciously looked around. After making sure that there would be no new guests, he spoke.

"It only takes a little magic to make it bigger."

"Can magic make food bigger?"

In Moon's view, a bigger pumpkin not only means a bigger pumpkin lantern, but also means it can fill the stomachs of many people.

Neil has been worrying about food lately.

Even though he has encouraged more people to spend money to buy supplies, it is still far from enough.

The longer it takes to prepare for war, the longer the chaos that follows.

Two weeks ago, Neil organized a team to go to the farther Donggang City to purchase supplies, but in the end he only brought back a small amount of food.

Now the price of grain in Xilin changes every day.

The price of rye has increased from one silver coin per five pounds to three silver coins per pound.

As for fresh vegetables, the prices are outrageous.

The day before Moon returned, Neil even began cutting back on supplies, reducing everyone's meals from three a day to two.

And now that Moon has discovered a way to feed more people, he naturally cannot miss it.

"Food? Oh yes, pumpkin pie is indeed delicious."

After all, Hagrid could not understand Moon's suffering, or rather, no one in Hogwarts could understand it.

Moon wanted to continue asking about the magic that could make pumpkins bigger, but Hagrid deliberately changed the subject.

Moon noticed that Hagrid's expression was a little strange, and his eyes were fixed on the head of the bed. There was nothing there except a small pink umbrella.

Hagrid didn't want to say more, and Moon didn't ask further questions. He didn't have the habit of forcing his friends.

For Moon, now that he knew about the existence of this magic, he could find the answer in the library or from Professor Sprout.

"Okay, so can we get started?"

Thinking that he still had things to do in the evening, Moon took out his tool kit, which contained five small knives of various shapes neatly arranged inside.

"Wow, these gadgets of yours are really exquisite."

Hagrid grasped Moon's carving blade as if it were a toy.

"That's the knife I used to cut my wand in your hand."

"is it?"

Hagrid turned the knife over carefully in his hands.

"By the way, I heard from Professor Sprout that your wand is finished, right?"

"That's right." Moon took out other knives one after another.

"It only took less than a month. How on earth did you do it?"

Hagrid put the knife down, his eyes full of curiosity.

Moon didn't want to deceive Hagrid, so he could only explain that he might have a talent for carving wood.

But Hagrid seemed like a different person, and kept asking Moon a lot of questions about wand maintenance.

"Although I've never been involved in wand repair, as long as I know the wand body, core, length, weight, and style, I think it shouldn't be difficult to replicate an identical wand."

Moon responded to Hagrid's question while fiddling with the pumpkin in his hand.

"But I... uh, that person prefers the original wand. What should I do?"

"If, as you said, the wand is broken in the middle, then the first thing to do is to check whether the core is damaged."

"There's nothing wrong with the wand core. I've checked it several times."

Hagrid's voice was a little hurried.

"If there's nothing wrong with the wand core, then we need to check if it's misplaced. If it is, we need to put it back into its original groove."

"Then the broken parts of the pole must be aligned perfectly, and any wood chips that are missing must be repaired."

"Finally, we need to reinforce it with glue that has good magical conductivity."

Moon expressed his rough guess.

Although he hadn't repaired the wand yet, he now thought every step through very carefully.

"So this is so troublesome. Why isn't it as easy to use as before?"

Hagrid muttered something softly, but Moon didn't hear it clearly because he was concentrating on looking at the pumpkin lantern in his hand.

"Wait! When did you carve these three?"

Hagrid was holding a half-peeled pumpkin in his hand. He looked at the three scary but cute pumpkin lanterns in front of Moon in a daze.

"Just when you were speaking."

Moon's fourth jack-o'-lantern is almost complete.

After undergoing wand splitting training, Moon's carving speed is no longer the same as before.

If he still needs to set up a stall to sell wood carvings at the zoo during the holidays, Moon is confident that he will never have a long line in front of the stall again.

Moreover, Moon's four pumpkin lanterns were of completely different styles. He borrowed inspiration from the various pumpkin lantern toys that his classmates received in the morning.

"Okay, I'll just carve four today to practice, and I'll continue tomorrow."

Moon said as he wiped the knife and left the cabin with Bengbeng.

Hagrid only then reacted and looked at Moon's four pumpkin lanterns, and then at his remaining five baskets of large pumpkins.

He felt that he might have to stay up late these days.
