Chapter 446 He wanted to kill me?!
Voldemort snorted and flicked his wand, sending a stream of black magical energy shooting out from the tip, striking precisely the stream of water that Dumbledore had created.
With a deafening roar, the thick torrent of water was instantly shattered, turning into a shower of splashing water. "If you were truly as kind as you claim, you wouldn't have stood in my way, preventing me from rebuilding the glory of pure-blood wizards!"
Dylan stood quietly on the rocks of Azkaban, the sea breeze carrying a salty, damp scent that brushed against his hair. His gaze remained fixed on the sea, taking in every detail of the spells cast by the two legendary wizards. In his opinion, their fight was of a high level, but he believed he could fight them himself.
Hmm, how about we find an opportunity to call out Karthus and devour this Voldemort as well?
He is far more valuable for research than the previous fragments of soul.
“That’s an interesting point.” A faint smile played on Dumbledore’s lips as he gently flicked his wand at the splashing water. “You seem quite concerned about your subordinates? Then… why don’t you die with them?”
Before the words were even finished, the water that had already dispersed suddenly froze in mid-air, then condensed into countless sharp, crystalline shapes, shooting towards Voldemort with a whooshing sound.
Voldemort's face darkened, and he slammed his wrist down, causing a dark light to burst from the tip of his wand. Before the incoming water blades could reach him, they all fell to the ground, twisting and deforming the moment they hit the ground, transforming into dozens of jet-black venomous snakes. Their scales gleamed coldly in the dim light, and their scarlet tongues flickered incessantly, making a rustling sound as they slithered rapidly toward the Auror horde not far away.
Dumbledore frowned slightly, about to raise his hand to cast a spell to dispel the venomous snakes, when two gaunt black figures suddenly slid out from the shadows to the side. They were Dementors, their tattered cloaks billowing, exuding a bone-chilling cold, their withered claws blocking Dumbledore's wand, and the surrounding temperature instantly dropped several degrees.
"Avada Kedavra!" The chilling incantation rang out with Voldemort's low growl, and a ghastly green light ripped through the air, heading straight for Dumbledore's face.
Dumbledore lightly stomped his foot, and the remaining water immediately split into two streams. One stream quickly condensed in front of him, turning into an ice shield that exuded a chilling aura. Tiny ice crystals condensed on the surface of the shield, emanating a menacing cold.
The ice shield collided violently with the Killing Curse, sending ice shards flying like snow torn apart by a gale. The ghastly green light, however, remained undiminished and continued to shoot toward Dumbledore. At the critical moment, another stream of water caught Dumbledore's body, carrying him rapidly downwards.
The fatal curse grazed past his clothes, leaving a fleeting green trail in the air behind him.
Dumbledore's movements didn't falter at all. His wand drew a smooth circle in the air, and a deep, clear incantation flowed from his mouth: "Patriot!" A dazzling golden light suddenly burst forth from the tip of the wand, and a phoenix with iridescent wings spread its wings and let out a clear cry as it charged toward the two Dementors.
The Dementors let out a piercing shriek, forced to retreat repeatedly by the phoenix's radiance, fleeing in panic.
Dumbledore flicked his wrist, and the tip of his wand was immediately aimed at the figure surrounded by a gray-black mist—Voldemort.
The battle high in the sky had already reached a fever pitch, with countless guardians and dementors locked in a fierce struggle, golden light and gray-black mist intertwining into a chaotic web.
No one can say for sure why these Dementors are so frenzied. Perhaps the destruction of Azkaban has freed them from their last restraints, or perhaps Voldemort made a dark promise that would make them serve him, or perhaps there are simply too many of them, so many that even the Patronus, who are fighting so hard, are starting to show signs of fatigue.
Even if some Dementors are driven away by the golden light, more of their kind will rush in from all directions to fill the gaps in an instant. What's more troublesome is that not all Dementors are determined to fight the guardians in the sky.
Several cunning Dementors stealthily crept up to Dumbledore's vicinity, their withered claws reaching out towards him, attempting to launch a sneak attack. However, the Patronus Phoenix keenly detected them, pounced, and fiercely repelled them. Having suffered a loss, the Dementors dared not provoke Dumbledore again and immediately turned around, swooping down towards the ground below to join the already chaotic battle.
The shouts of battle on the ground were deafening, and the curses and roars of the Aurors rose and fell.
"Damn it! These monstrous things!" A voice of an Auror was filled with undisguised panic as he waved his wand repeatedly, but could only barely hold off the bizarre opponent in front of him.
Another Auror roared in quick succession: "They're not human! They're monsters!"
Amid the chaos, someone exclaimed in shock, "He actually turned his men into these things?!"
Those Death Eaters and prisoners who had been transformed by Voldemort's dark magic had long lost their human reason, and even their forms had become distorted and terrifying. Some of them were on all fours with their backs hunched over, and when they ran, they looked like wild beasts ready to pounce. Their nails twisted and grew long, deeply embedded in the stone slabs of the ground.
The more exaggerated ones, besides being on all fours, also have many animal features on their bodies. Some have skin covered with fine scales, some have fluffy manes growing on their necks, and some have torn corners of their mouths, revealing sharp white fangs.
“Don’t worry, they’re just crazy, but they can still be killed.” Dylan’s right hand gripped the wand firmly, his gaze fixed intently on the monsters, his fingers moving slightly.
At this moment, three mutated monsters of different shapes broke through the Aurors' temporary defenses and charged toward the densely populated area. Wherever they passed, the stone slabs were crushed and dust flew up.
At the forefront was a colossal beast covered in dark purple scales. Its original human body had been magnified infinitely, its limbs were as thick as stone pillars, its claws gleamed with an eerie light, its mouth was torn to the ears, revealing two rows of barbed fangs, and each breath it exhaled white vapor with the smell of sulfur.
Behind it followed two even more bizarre monsters. One had enormous bat wings, but its body was as slender as a venomous snake. It flew silently, scattering black powder with a paralyzing effect with each flap of its wings. The other had completely detached itself from human form, transforming into a writhing mass of flesh covered with countless scarlet eyes. It left a sticky black trail as it moved, and everything it touched sizzled and corroded. The Aurors were momentarily overwhelmed by these three more threatening mutated monsters, so Dylan took them from them.
He remained standing there, upright, his face expressionless, as if he were facing not a deadly monster, but three harmless ants.
Suddenly, a writhing mass of flesh and blood launched an attack from behind, its countless eyes flashing red at the same time, and several black, corrosive beams shot out from its eyes, heading straight for Dylan, attempting a sneak attack.
Dylan didn't even lift his eyelids. He simply raised his wrist slightly, and a faint golden light flashed at the tip of his wand. An invisible barrier instantly unfolded in front of him. The black corrosive beam struck the barrier, and like a drop of water flowing into the ocean, it vanished without a trace, without even causing a ripple.
At the same time, he uttered a short incantation in a calm voice, yet it carried an irresistible power. The writhing monster of flesh suddenly froze in place, and the scarlet eyes on its body went out.
The next second, the flesh began to contract and coagulate rapidly, as if all the moisture had been drained away, and in the blink of an eye, it turned into a charred, hard lump.
It fell to the ground with a "plop" and completely lost its life.
The entire process took no more than two seconds, and the corrosive monster that had left the Aurors helpless was easily annihilated.
Upon seeing this, the bat-winged monster suddenly accelerated, transforming into a black shadow, carrying paralyzing powder, and swooped down from above towards Dylan, its sharp tail spikes gleaming coldly, aimed directly at the back of his neck.
As if he had eyes in the back of his head, Dylan neither dodged nor evaded. He simply swiped his wand lightly to the side, and a golden blade of light appeared out of thin air, like moonlight being precisely sliced. It silently cut through the air, and before the swooping monster could even touch Dylan, it was cut in half at the waist by the blade of light. Its upper and lower body separated instantly, and black blood and internal organs spilled all over the ground. The paralyzing powder was also burned away by the scorching heat of the blade of light. The two halves of the corpse fell heavily to the ground, without even being able to let out a scream.
The last remaining scaly behemoth, seeing its companion instantly killed, had a flicker of fear in its eyes, but was still driven by the bloodlust within it. It took heavy steps and charged toward Dylan, its huge claws whistling through the air, trying to smash him into mincemeat.
Dylan finally slowly raised his head, his gaze calmly landing on the behemoth. He didn't cast any offensive spells, but simply tapped his wand lightly against the beast.
Something strange happened.
The unstoppable, scaly behemoth froze the moment it met Dylan's gaze. Its charge came to an abrupt halt, and its dark purple scales began to fade and peel away rapidly, revealing pale skin beneath. Its once-powerful limbs began to shrink, and the sound of bones cracking emanated from its body. In just three seconds, the several-meter-tall behemoth rapidly withered, eventually transforming into a ragged, dying prisoner who collapsed to the ground. The madness in his eyes had long since faded, leaving only endless confusion and weakness.
Dylan didn't even glance at the prisoner again. With a gentle wave of his wand, the charred, hardened mass on the ground, the monster's corpse, and the collapsed prisoner were enveloped in a soft golden light, then transformed into countless points of light, completely dissipating into the air without leaving a trace.
The entire process was smooth and efficient, without the slightest hesitation. Dylan remained standing still the whole time, without moving an inch, his face still showing that calm expression, as if he had only done something insignificant. The Aurors around him were stunned, including Tonks and Kingsley Shackle, who had just escaped death. They stared wide-eyed at Dylan's back, their hearts filled with shock.
Those mutated monsters that were terrifying and difficult to deal with in their eyes were as fragile as paper in front of Dylan, not even worthy of his serious attention!
His magic is precise, powerful, and effortless. It has no flashy special effects, but it has absolute power that can crush everything, truly embodying the word "invincible"!
"Avada Kedavra!"
Just as Tonks' mind wandered and she was slightly distracted, a chilling incantation suddenly rang out from behind her.
The voice startled her—she knew it all too well; it belonged to John Dexter, a fellow Auror.
Tonks instinctively wanted to turn her head to see who John Dexter was casting the deadly killing curse on, but before she could even turn her neck, her peripheral vision was completely filled with a blinding green light.
He wanted to kill me?!
A series of questions exploded in Tonks' mind like thunder. Her brain seemed to freeze instantly, going completely blank. Her body was also completely stiffened by the sudden betrayal and fatal attack, unable to make any appropriate reaction.
The ghastly green light drew ever closer, carrying the aura of death. It was almost within reach. The chilling green light of the Killing Curse magnified continuously in Nymphadora Tonks's vision, almost swallowing her entire world.
The light was icy cold and carried a pure aura of death, making her blood seem to freeze instantly.
In that life-or-death moment, countless images flashed through her mind like a revolving lantern: her parents' gentle smiles when she was a child, the professors' patient teaching in Hogwarts Castle, Moody's stern yet caring expression with his magical false eye, and... these vivid memories became incredibly clear at this moment, as if they had happened just yesterday.
She suddenly remembered that when she was exchanging combat tips with Moody, this old Auror who had experienced countless life and death battles had pointed to his magical prosthetic eye and said in a joking tone: "When a person is on the verge of death, the things hidden deep in their heart will all come out one by one, which is more effective than any memory spell."
At the time, she thought it was just a joke from Moody and was half-believing it, but now that she has experienced it firsthand, she realizes that it is true. Those memories that she thought had been diluted by the trivialities of daily life are now vividly appearing before her eyes.
Unfortunately, it seemed that everything was about to end like this. A sense of unwillingness welled up in Tonks' heart, but she was powerless to change anything. She could only watch helplessly as the green light got closer and closer to her. Just as the green light was about to touch her, Tonks suddenly felt her body being violently lifted upward by a force, and she was lifted off the spot.
The deadly curse whistled past her clothes, slamming heavily into the ground where she had just stood, creating a deafening roar and carving a deep, bottomless crater, sending rubble and dust flying everywhere. (End of Chapter)
