Durin's Diary

Chapter 27 Inspector Royce Haze I

Chapter 27: Inspector Royce Haze I
Sidney United, Sullam Tree Farm.

Detective Royce Haze of Task Force 3.

Sarichi City, in front of the gate of Sarichi Mansion.

The gray-haired old man in a black police uniform stood in front of the gate of the Saric family mansion after the snowstorm. He glanced at the dead man in the cabin, took out a cigarette case from his pocket, and lit a cigarette for himself.

The thin red-haired boy beside him greeted his colleagues at the gate: "Sorry, we are late. As you know, old Royce and I have other work to do."

"I know. That's why when Chief Inspector Melissa arrived, she wasn't furious about your absence. Instead, the unlucky guys from Team Two were practically being scolded." The officer at the door smiled wryly as he pulled up the cordon. "This incident is quite serious. Count Saric, whose family was exterminated, was actually connected to human trafficking."

Royce coughed dryly twice, glanced at the reporters not far away, and as he walked through the cordon, he patted the arm of his young colleague: "It's nice to stand there and enjoy the cool breeze. Don't look for trouble."

The old inspector didn't like the young man's nonsense - even though he knew it was all true, the problem was that the nobles didn't want the whole world to know that it was true, and the question was why they couldn't suppress it this time.

Because the murderer is a believer in the god of vengeance.

The God of Vengeance is a very powerful alien god who comes from another dimension. He does not need believers. Anyone with a legitimate reason for revenge can praise his name. This means that a vengeful person will be responsible for this matter, so this alien god will pay attention and keep watching the development of events.

In other words, some victims found the Saric family, killed all the family members, and then released the children.

If anyone still wants to suppress all this, then they must be prepared to die with their entire family like the Saric family.

Moreover, since they kill in the name of the God of Vengeance, it is impossible to track the murderer using magic. These believers of the God of Vengeance who come and go without a trace are the murderers that all detectives least want to encounter - because of what they have done, many people in the community are willing to help them.

This has brought great difficulties to the investigation of the case, and many cases have even become unsolved cases.

The Mage Tower and the Church of the Good God also don't like to help the police in such matters - I help you today, but if the axle of the manure truck breaks in front of my house tomorrow, what do you think I will do?

As soon as he entered the hall, old Royce saw the old man from the Saric family hanging from the chandelier with a long tongue.

The pile of corpses at his feet was a very standard tactic used in the grassland elves' extermination order - whenever possible, the main culprit must die; whenever possible, all family members must be bled one by one and piled at the feet of the main culprit.

As for the three children lying in front of the pile of corpses.

Old Royce frowned - this was quite interesting, it meant that the grassland elves and the head of the Saric family had reached a deal, and the children who hadn't died in the first raid were treated preferentially, they would not be bled, but would be shot to death and die peacefully.

Old Royce even noticed the youngest child, who was shot in the chest. This made the old man sigh - the murderer was really kind. He knew that this shot to the forehead of a seven-year-old child would smash the little head to pieces, so he chose to shoot the child in the chest.

His fourteen-year-old sister and seventeen-year-old brother were not so lucky. The bullets passed through their skulls and they died beyond death.

He looked up at his peers swaying in the wind on the noose.

What about you? What kind of deal did you make with the grassland elves?

"Royce, stop looking." A female dwarf wearing a black Sulem Forestry uniform shouted from a distance. Old Royce could only take small steps and trot over to her.

"What's so interesting about an old guy with such a long tongue? Look at this." She said this while handing over a list.

Old Royce took the list and glanced at it. "Our murderer wrote it in a beautiful Eastern cursive."

The list was filled with the names of Saric family members, with a check mark next to each name.

The female dwarf in front of him was Melissa Big Toe, the chief inspector of Sulem Forest Farm, who could ignore the height difference and take the initiative to wash her subordinates' faces with her saliva.

"The handwriting is beautiful and the subordinates are decisive. Look at these bullet shells, they are all good things that can only be found in the Eastern Elf Territory." After the lady said this, she pointed to a dozen bullet shells on the coffee table beside her.

The young red-haired Link had already run over. He picked up a bullet casing and took a look at the end of the shell: "Wow, military bullet. What kind of monster did the Saric family offend?"

"There are no happy endings for messing with the prairie elves. Over the years, I've only seen that Corleone bastard from the north. He deceived the youngest daughter of the Duke of Elsh and returned to the north unscathed. If it weren't for the historical connection between the Corleone and Elsh families, I believe he would have been killed." Inspector Melissa said sullenly, then turned to Royce. "Old Royce, you lucky old dog, explain to your henchman what this means."

Old Royce didn't mind. In Sidney Union's largest police department, Sulem Forest, it wasn't an insult for a young boss to call an elderly subordinate an old dog - because Sulem Forest called itself the Emperor's hound - but it wasn't easy to work in this job and live to the age where you could be called an old dog. It represented whether a police officer was truly lucky enough.

After all, it is not easy to survive to retirement while working at the Sulem Forest Farm, but it is easy to devote oneself to His Majesty - of the 300 classmates who graduated from the Police Academy with Royce, he is now the only one left.

"Old Royce, what does this mean?" Link asked.

"The grassland elves use double-strength ammunition. Military ammunition is only used by the Artisan Guild, the armed police, and the army. Even the famous demon hunters can only use civilian ammunition with added materials if they don't have the money to buy it. The people who killed the Saric family used military ammunition. Combined with the extermination order to slaughter all members of the Saric family, this means that the murderer is serving the Prairie Elf Elder Council. There are still hundreds of children, and the blood emblem of the God of Vengeance is on the pile of corpses. I think if any of us makes a wrong move, we will also die."

After saying that, Old Royce started smoking - how should I put it, if I remember correctly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Grassland Elves and their Ministry of Foreign Affairs had just had contact a few days ago. He didn't know what the content of the contact was, he only knew that the result was somewhat unpleasant.

It is said that the ambassador of the grassland elves was very angry, and even the Primordial Creator Cult excommunicated several families because of this. The members of these families will never be able to get help from the church in their lifetime, and it will be impossible for them to set foot on the land of the Eastern Elf Territory safely.

You see, after such a long period of peace, some people no longer take the grassland elves seriously. Do they think the grassland elves are just playing house with alien species in the eastern plains of the elven territory? No, they have been fighting the alien species and monsters in the black and red zones for centuries, and fighting the green-skinned orcs in the south. They are accustomed to blood and death!
The grassland elves are not afraid of death, nor are they afraid of killing. In their eyes, killing a person is not much more difficult than killing a chicken.

You see, it’s only been a few days, and the fact that the Saric family are human traffickers has been exposed. The Elder Council of the Prairie Elves has taken drastic measures and killed the entire Saric family. They obviously came in a hurry, so they didn’t even take the child away. The question now is who dares to detain the child and force the Prairie Elves to hand over the murderer.

Old Royce thought about it and felt that no one would dare to do this, at least no one in the Sulem Forest Farm would dare to do this - what a joke, many of the guns in the Sulem Forest Farm were bought from the Artisans Guild of the Grassland Elves. With these guns, the mortal police in the forest farm even dared to hunt down low-level supernatural criminals in teams, so no one would like to cut off their own arms.

What's more, both the military and the royal family have strong ties with the Eastern Elf Territory where the grassland elves are located. It's better to let His Majesty the Emperor think about it carefully.

The hounds of Sulem Forest Farm are loyal, but not stupid—if they want the murderer for something that the Foreign Office has caused, let them go and get him.

It is said that there are countless black soils in the east. I hope that all the pot-bellied gentlemen in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs... can still shine in the fields.
