Durin's Diary
Chapter 363: The Sea as a Spring
Chapter 363: The Sea as a Spring
As Durin approached the Lawrence family's yard, he saw the elderly Baron Farnan from outside the fence. He was sitting on a bench while children were running on the grass.
He seemed quite puzzled by Durin's arrival, for dragonborns usually did not come uninvited.
Two of them came at once, which made the old man look a little surprised and confused.
But he still invited Du Lin and Lina in.
"Young Longzi, what's the matter with you coming to see an old man like me?"
Du Lin raised his hand, and grass sprouted on the grass, and quickly grew into two stump-like chairs.
Sitting down with Lina, Dulin looked at the old man in front of him: "Hello, I am Dulin Elsh, and this is Lina Ansalon."
"It turns out to be Lord Du Lin. How come a legend like you has something wrong with you today?" The old man's face looked a little stiff. After a scan, Daju confirmed that he had suffered a stroke in his early years. Luckily, he survived, but his legs and feet were a little inconvenient.
"Do you remember Zanan Kuben?" Du Lin asked.
The confusion on the old man's face froze.
The middle-aged man standing next to him reached for his holster.
"If I were you, I wouldn't pull out my gun. If you don't do it, I will only kill Farnan Lawrence today." Du Lin threatened expressionlessly.
"Child, don't do anything." The old man turned his head and said.
The middle-aged man was unwilling to accept the fact: "It's just a gravekeeper who died. Isn't he at fault?"
"He was wrong, so he used his death to atone for his sins." Durin lowered his head, reached out, and plucked a fruit from a newly budding branch. He tossed it to Lina, and the little dragon swallowed it in one gulp. He then turned to Farnan and said, "Zanan stole someone else's grave and voluntarily surrendered to the law a day ago. Mr. Farnan Lawrence, you killed his entire family years ago. Today, it's your turn."
"Who the hell is he! How can we expect our family to forgive a gravekeeper who committed such a crime!" the middle-aged man roared.
"He is really nothing. You can hang him or chop off his head. But you didn't kill the man who deserved to die, but killed his family. Before I kill you, I want to know why." Du Lin said this and looked at Farnan Lawrence in front of him.
He was waiting for an answer.
A middle-aged woman ran out of the building and drove the children towards the house.
"That was around thirty-seven years ago. My two brothers died on the battlefield, and I took over the family from my father. The Lawrence family was shattered overnight. I buried my father and brothers, but before I could enjoy a peaceful life, the night watchman at the cemetery told me that my father's tomb had been looted and all his burial objects stolen and sold."
Old Farnan sighed at this point and said, "I was so blinded by anger that I forgot the creed of the God of War. I killed Zanan's family because at that time I thought, since they enjoyed my father's burial goods, let them go to hell together."
The old man said this and turned to look at his child: "You can go now."
"Father!"
"I have lived half my life in regret. I broke my faith and lost my family's blessing. The God of War will never forgive me for slaughtering the weak... It's time to give up my life to atone for my sins." After saying this, he reached out and pushed.
The middle-aged man finally chose to step back a few steps.
Old Farnan looked at Durin and said, "I killed his children and grandchildren, and then drove him into the wilderness. I originally thought he was dead, but I didn't expect that he would still be alive today, and even maintain the pride of being a human being..." The old man lowered his head in silence, and then trembled in anger. Finally, he burst into tears in anger: "Why can he die as a human being! And I can only live in this world as a murderer!"
"If you had chosen to hang him directly and then ask his family for the money back, I wouldn't be standing before you today. The power to choose one's destiny has always been in the hands of man." Seeing Mr. Farnan's anger, Du Lin replied softly, "I represent the will of the God of Vengeance, and I hear the dying entrustment of a poor man who has redeemed his sins. Mr. Farnan Lawrence, from the moment you killed Mr. Zanan Kuben's offspring, you should have understood that fate might one day make someone in your family, who no one else can defeat, the chosen one to hear Mr. Zanan's dying prayer."
"I thought about it, but I never imagined that it would be someone as powerful as you, Mr. Durin Elsh. I also never imagined that behind you stood the behemoth called the Three Saints Society." The old man sighed.
Durin turned around and saw Urjula Dracula.
The latter bowed his head: "Greetings to you, my leader." The old vampire lowered his head and saluted Durin.
Du Lin nodded and said, "Sir Uryula, why are you standing here today?"
"Mrs. Lin asked me to collect a debt from the city lord, but he refused to pay. So my little boy and I did him a small favor, and now he has cooperated and paid the money."
"That's good. Paying back debts is a matter of course. If someone dares to be so arrogant next time, call me." Having said that, Du Lin smiled and raised his eyebrows: "Ask whatever you want."
"I have a history with the Lawrence family, and I want to know why you wanted to kill little Farnan."
To Urjula, the old man in front of him was just little Farnan.
But to Du Lin, he can only be old Farnan.
But no matter whether he is old or young, Farnan will not escape death today.
Because Dulin said that he represented the will of the god of vengeance.
Uryula wanted to plead for Farnan, but when he heard that it was the will of the God of Vengeance, the old vampire ran away so fast that he disappeared in a blink of an eye.
Du Lin thought for a moment, then pulled out a revolver from his space bag, loaded it with a bullet, aimed it, and then held it upside down before handing it to Farnan Lawrence. "I still say the same thing. Mr. Zanan committed suicide to fulfill his retribution. Mr. Farnan, please don't make things difficult for me, and don't let your family suffer undue losses."
The fault of today's incident is not that of Zanan's family, nor that of Farnan's closest relatives. The fault lies in Zanan's momentary change of mind when he was at his wit's end, and in Farnan's wrong move when he was furious.
"Everyone has to pay the price for his choices. Mr. Zanan paid his price, and now it's your turn." Du Lin sighed after watching Farnan take the gun.
"Father! Please!" the middle-aged man cried, but was held tightly by his brothers.
Old Farnan sighed, "I've actually been waiting for the day when the Avengers would arrive. I know I was wrong, and my faith has drifted away from me." At this point, the old man put the gun to his head and looked at Durin, "But I didn't expect that I would have to wait for half my life. I naively thought that retribution would not come, but I didn't expect... It's not that retribution has been forgotten, but that Zanan waited until today to be redeemed from his ugly body..."
Having said this, he looked at the young Durin and said, "It's time to complete the revenge with my death."
After saying that, he pulled the trigger.
Du Lin stood up and took Lina to the gate.
