Chapter 222 Burns's Battleship and the All-Night Girls' Party
Chapter 222 Burns's Battleship and the All-Night Girls' Party (-word update, please subscribe)
The crimson light of the morning glow sprinkled on the sea, giving the Dawn a light golden-pink hue.
Dorothy is touring the new ship, holding Li En's hand.
The Dawn's hull is built of the finest teak, strong and resilient, able to withstand any test of wind and waves. Three thick masts tower into the sky, covered with full sails, which swell in the breeze like eagles spreading their wings ready to take flight.
On the deck, rows of portholes made of fine iron are like the eyes of soldiers, revealing a hint of firmness and majesty.
The prow is carved with a sea beast with bared fangs and claws, which looks so lifelike that it seems to be about to jump into the water and fight the huge waves. Of course, the most eye-catching thing is the 10 large-caliber turrets.
There are exquisite patterns painted on the hull, with colorful lines intertwined together, and even a depiction of Li En fighting a giant octopus sea monster, which is enough to show that the officer has put a lot of thought into this aspect.
The soldiers of the Knights of Dawn shuttled through the intricate passages and cabins, their faces filled with satisfaction and excitement. When they saw Li En and Dorothy, they saluted politely.
"Hello, Master Li En! Hello, Master Witch!"
At noon, Parker, Reuben and others took advantage of their free time during training to come to the Dawn to look for Li En, mainly to visit the new battleship.
"Brother Li En, this ship is so beautiful."
Reuben exclaimed.
"Yeah, this fort is just like a dream lover."
Evans said excitedly.
He saw Dorothy standing next to Lee En, but didn't think much of it.
Excellent people always tend to get together, maybe they are just ordinary friends.
This was the only way Evans could comfort himself.
"Brother, we also want to join your Knights of the Dawn."
Al pumped his fists excitedly, mostly wanting to get away from the old lady's rigorous training.
Li En looked at Parker, "What do you think?"
Parker lowered his head and said nothing.
But he didn't want to follow Li En, and didn't want to be protected by his brother all the time. Just like in the past, he had always been supported by his uncles and had no idea how terrifying monsters were.
Li En already knew his answer and patted his shoulder. "Since this is the path you have chosen, I will respect you. Everyone, please take good care of my brother."
Li En's words were equivalent to rejecting the joining of Evans, Al, Reuben and others.
But the few of them had no complaints. Although they felt a little disappointed, they continued to visit the Dawn with a smile.
Dorothy was different from Nina Owen. She was polite to everyone, which made the teenagers feel less disappointed and depressed after being rejected by Lee En.
It would be great if I could always be with the goddess like this.
This is what Reuben, Evans and others thought.
But they were soon called to gather, and the old lady would not leave them any extra time, so now was not the time to relax.
As night falls, the lights on the ship gradually light up, like stars, casting a warm halo on the sea.
Dorothy and Li En stood on the balcony on the second floor of the cabin, drinking magic bubble drinks and chatting.
The two hadn't seen each other for a few days, but they seemed to have endless topics to talk about.
Of course, they wouldn't feel embarrassed even if they didn't say anything.
It was also during this conversation that Li En learned that Dorothy had always kept Alexander with her. However, the dragon egg was supposed to be born shortly after the Harvest Festival, but a strange change occurred when it reached the sea and it never hatched.
Dorothy suspected that Alexander was a land dragon and that the sea had restrictions on land dragons.
Li En didn't think so. He thought Alexander might be dissatisfied with the environment of the Blue Whale and wanted to choose a suitable place to break out of the shell, such as the Azure Dragon Court.
Until the thick fog appeared on the sea, interrupting the communication between the two.
"what is that?"
Li En squinted his eyes. He couldn't see clearly what was behind the fog, but he felt that it was a huge monster.
"Enemy attack?"
Dorothy said suspiciously.
The Azure Dragon Court is only about three days' journey from here. In addition, since the mirage dragon guarding the ocean boundary has died, it is normal for the news to be transmitted back to the Azure Dragon Court.
Almost at the same time that Li En and Dorothy discovered the thick fog, the bell on the base's tower rang.
Boom--boom--
The dull bell sounded alert to everyone in the base, and they subconsciously looked towards the sea level.
The sound of the tower bells has a specific meaning.
One tone indicates a training set.
Two beeps indicate an unknown monster is approaching.
Three sounds indicate an enemy attack.
The sentry standing on the high tower also saw the shadow behind the thick fog, so he rang the bell twice.
Tina and Maitis, who were sitting on the temporary highest command platform of the newly built base, immediately sent members of the Knights to investigate the situation.
A small boat set out from the base and headed into the thick fog.
On the boat were a four-star knight, two three-star knights, a priest and three slaves.
This four-star knight Brody was the well-informed knight who had taken the lead in causing trouble for Li En. He just felt that he was very unlucky. How could he have offended the higher-ups because of this matter? Not only was he sent to do infrastructure work for a few days, but now he also had to be a scout.
The boat passed through the thick fog. Four-star Knight Brody twisted his neck and asked the priest,
"Priest, is there any pollution here?"
The priest shook his head, "I can't feel it."
Brody has become immune to toxins, and what he fears most is that the fog is polluted. Some sea monsters are more polluting than monsters on land.
The boat continued to move forward in the thick fog, and soon saw the true appearance of the behemoth, which turned out to be a luxurious warship that was even larger than the Blue Whale!
The fluttering flag is engraved with the gear craftsman totem of the Burns Empire. The Burns Empire is also known as the Craftsman Empire. Its mechanical manufacturing is more developed than that of the Holy Empire, so it can build larger warships than the Holy Empire.
The battleship was brightly lit, the deck was bustling with people, and the poet's singing came from the ship and drifted into Brody's ears.
"You, Weiss girl, put on your shoulder strap. Cigars, thick and long, have you bought any? If they are soft and rotten, come on, smoke my cigarettes, they are not bad either..."
"Are they having a party here?"
Brody looked at his subordinates.
The two three-star knights nodded and pointed at the fluttering battle flag. "It's a ship from the Burns Empire. Should we negotiate? Or should we just go back?"
"First we need to make sure what we see is real."
Brody finished speaking and had the priest draw a magic circle on the slave's eyes to share vision. He then untied the chains that bound the slave's hands and feet and ordered, "Now, swim over and board the ship."
In this way, the priest can see the real situation on the ship through the slaves' vision.
Due to Brody's intimidation, the slaves could only jump off the boat with a plop, swim to the bottom of the Burns Empire's luxurious warship, and wave loudly for help.
The luxurious warship quickly lowered the ladder and pulled the slave who fell into the water out.
The priest also saw the situation on the warship through the slave's vision.
On the deck, lights dotted the sky like a galaxy of stars, interweaving orange, green, and azure into a vibrant canvas. A spotlight descended from the sky, illuminating the central dance floor. Light and shadow danced to the rhythm of the music. Melodious singing, swirling smoke, and the cheerful melody made one sway to the beat.
Men in linen suits, their bow ties casually untied, exuding a touch of uninhibited flair. Women in flowing dresses, their tulle flowing in the sea breeze, occasionally revealing a hint of allure. They clutched cocktails or sipped champagne, their faces beaming with delight. As the band played upbeat tunes, those on the dance floor paired up, twirling and leaping, enjoying this night of revelry at sea.
As the music reached its climax, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. A woman in a long red dress danced gracefully in the center of the dance floor, her skirt fluttering with every turn, like a crimson glow reflected on the sea. Her partner, a man in the uniform of Vice Admiral Burns, gracefully guided her, and the two danced as if on the sea, earning cheers from everyone around them.
The priest relayed this scene to the knights.
Brody frowned, "You mean there aren't just officers and soldiers on board, but also a lot of Weiss girls?"
Weiss girls are famous for their passion and unrestrainedness. In fact, they are another name for the streetwalkers in the Burns Empire.
"Yes."
The priest said.
"The people of the Burns Empire still know how to enjoy life as always. They even brought so many women with them on the expedition to the Azure Dragon Court. I'm really enviable. I want to go and take a look too."
The three-star knight touched his chin and said that they had not touched a woman for nearly two months.
Knights are very popular among women in the Holy Empire, especially after reaching three stars. Basically, as long as they reveal their identities, girls will take the initiative to throw themselves into their arms. But it is different on the sea.
There are only a handful of women in the Holy Empire Fleet. Dorothy is the imperial rose that cannot be coveted, Tina is the flower of the sea who occupies a high position, and there is also Nina Owen, who is Lee En Moria's exclusive maid. Not to mention flirting, even if you get within three meters of her, you will be treated like dog shit and despised.
This made the knights miss the girls from their hometown even more.
"How can you bring women on an expedition? There's something strange about this ship."
Brody was not as optimistic as his men.
"What's the big deal? In fact, we should learn from the Burns Empire. Participating in the expedition to the Azure Dragon Court is a life-or-death experience. It's better to enjoy yourself on the ship before going to the war."
The three-star knight said.
"Yeah, maybe no one can go back alive."
Another three-star knight echoed.
Everyone on the boat looked at him, and he realized that he had said the wrong thing and immediately chose to shut up.
Brody gave him a cold look and thought what bad luck.
"Priest, please continue to check the situation on the ship. If there is any problem, we will return immediately."
Brody said cautiously.
The priest nodded slightly.
At this time, the slave who boarded the luxurious warship was stunned. He had never seen so many beautiful girls, and of course, he had never seen such a luxurious sea ball.
"Who are you? How did you appear at sea?"
The soldier from the Burns Empire asked with a cold face. He had recognized that the other party was a slave by his clothes and appearance, and now he felt a little regretful for rescuing him.
"I am the slave of Lord Brody, a knight of the Holy Empire. When we saw your ship from afar, we thought it was a monster."
The slave told the truth, and his master had not taught him to lie.
The soldier immediately reported the slave's words to his superior, and the superior lieutenant came to the slave and said to him,
"Go tell the Knight of your country that since we met on the Forbidden Sea, we are all brothers of the Human Alliance. There is no need to distinguish between us. If he is willing, he is welcome to come to the ship and have a party together."
The people of Burns Empire were very welcoming, which flattered the slaves.
He had been worried that he would board a ghost ship and die without a burial place, but now, it was great that he could return alive to report.
The priest also carefully observed the huge ship through his vision. Although he did not enter the cabin, there was no problem just from the outside.
The slave said goodbye to the lieutenant, reentered the sea, swam to the boat, and told Brody the good news.
The slave was able to return alive, at least eliminating the initial danger.
Brody nodded with satisfaction, but he didn't want to get on the giant ship. "Let's go, let's go back and report."
"Sir, there's a girl named Weiss on board. Why don't we go aboard and have some fun, then return to report."
"Yes, we can make a detailed inspection to see if there is any danger."
The two knights, who had been holding back for a long time, were eager to try. In fact, they were very moved when they heard the poets' obscene singing.
You can imagine with your toes that those girls can provide them with the massage service they have long missed.
Brody looked at the priest, "Priest, what do you think?"
The priest checked the slaves' condition and said, "There are no signs of contamination. The people on board are normal and can be negotiated with."
"Well, to show the friendship of the Holy Empire, we should also board the ship."
Brody adjusted the collar of his clothes, and a button on his collar suddenly fell off.
This shirt was sewn by his mother before he left for the expedition. Brody was a superstitious man. He picked up the button and changed the subject.
"If you must go, I won't stop you, but I've chosen to go back first. I need to remind you that although we have a good relationship with the Burns Empire, the Burns Empire has been the first to attack the Azure Dragon Court without the Emperor's knowledge. This means they are already on the opposite side of us. If you are captured, don't blame me."
After hearing what their superior said, even though the two three-star knights wanted to go on board and experience the passion of the Weiss girl, they could only suppress their inner restlessness and choose to follow Brody back.
The slave looked reluctantly at the huge, brightly lit warship.
The boat started to return, but they were lost in the thick fog.
"Damn the fog, it's blocking our view."
"Why do I feel like I've been sailing for two or three hours and haven't left this foggy area yet?"
"We can only see the lights of the Burns Empire ships now. Why don't we go back?"
The knights are discussing.
The priest was holding a compass, and the compass needle was spinning continuously due to the influence of the strange magnetic field.
"It's so weird, we can't go back."
Brody said as he gave the order, "Never look back, keep driving forward, we will eventually get back to base."
"Yes, sir."
Led by Brody, the two knights, three slaves and a priest took another two hours to leave the fog.
When they saw the lighthouse at the base, they all showed expressions of having survived a disaster.
"Great, we've finally gotten out of that damn fog."
"Yes, thanks to the commander's persistence, I now feel that there is definitely something wrong with that big ship."
The knights praised Brody.
Brody smiled and pointed to his eyes.
"Your eyes may sometimes deceive you, but your intuition will never deceive you. My sixth sense is always accurate."
The reconnaissance team's ship gradually approached the base, but the base's bell rang again inexplicably.
Boom--boom--
"Damn it, why are there monsters approaching at this time?"
The team members looked back in panic, but there was nothing else on the sea except the thick fog.
"Did the sentry make a mistake? I'm so scared."
Brody patted his chest.
"Yeah, they must have made a mistake."
The three-star knight said.
"Maybe we should see if there's something in the sea."
Brody thought carefully and decided to return quickly.
The team members all agreed with this decision, and the boat sped towards the base.
boom--
A sudden cannonball hit the front of the boat, and the waves it stirred up almost overturned the boat. The three slaves on the boat were ordinary people, and their sense of balance was much worse than that of the knights and priests, so they fell directly into the sea.
Brody was in no mood to care about these slaves because he found that the ships firing were from the base.
"what's the situation?"
"Sir, maybe the sentry made a mistake and thought we were the enemy, so they opened fire."
The knights said.
Brody frowned, took out the loudspeaker on the boat and shouted,
"It's me! Knight Brody. Commander Tina asked me to come for reconnaissance. Our reconnaissance team is back!"
The ship stopped firing, and the soldiers passed Brody's words through layers of communication to Lieutenant General Tina.
Vice Admiral Tina soon arrived on the deck of the Blue Whale.
She pulled out her binoculars and spotted Brody, who was waving.
Brady was seen impatiently tearing at his collar, with a large piece of skin on his neck being torn off, but he seemed unaware of it. One of his companions had half of his head missing, and the other had a pitch-black hole in his chest.
The priest looked the most normal, except that his body was covered with seaweed.
The sentry must have seen this scene, so he rang the bell to warn the monster that it was approaching.
Tina frowned. It was abnormal that Brody could still speak normally even in this state.
But since we can communicate, we can't let the investigation team sacrifice in vain.
Tina took out the megaphone and said to Brody's team,
"Brody, report now what you experienced after passing through the thick fog." "It's Commander Tina!"
A glimmer of hope flashed in the knight's eyes.
"Why didn't Lieutenant General Tina let us go back and report again?"
Another three-star knight said in confusion.
Brody was feeling a little irritated. He shook off the sticky human skin on his hands and said into the loudspeaker,
"Sir, we passed through the thick fog and saw the Burns Empire's warship. The Burns people were having a party on the warship. There were also some Weiss girls on board. There was nothing unusual. They invited us on board, but we declined. We decided to return and report. We got lost on the way back, but fortunately it only took a while. We finally found the correct course and returned here."
At this point, Brody suddenly felt hungry. He looked down and found that his lower body had disappeared, but he did not feel anything unusual. He continued,
"Sir, can you please let us go back first? We are starving after sailing for several hours."
"Brody, let me report on your work first. In addition to the above description, what else have you discovered at sea?"
Tina asked seriously.
"Sir, I've reported everything. This fog can be disorienting. There's no other information."
Brody was getting increasingly irritated; he sensed that things were not going well.
He had intended to go back for a nice hot bath and three steaks, but he was stopped at sea by the Imperial Army.
"What happened to you during the hours you were lost?"
Tina asked.
“We encountered nothing.”
Brody said.
"Let others report."
Tina asked the priest and two knights to report the situation separately, and it was almost the same as what Brody said.
"Brody, I'm assigning you your second mission now. Return to that ship and continue the contact. Tell the Burns people that we feel their friendliness and that we will visit them. On the sea, humans are allies."
"Yes."
Faced with the orders given by Lieutenant General Tina, Brody, as a soldier, could only obey orders, even though he really wanted to return to the Blue Whale.
He now suspected that something had happened to his team, but he checked himself, the two three-star knights, and the priest and found that nothing was wrong.
Brody didn't care about the three slaves who fell into the water. He turned the boat around with the other members of the team and headed towards the thick fog.
Tina used a telescope and saw the boat entering the thick fog, then she immediately turned around and hurried back to the base headquarters.
Gathered in the command room were Earl Hall, Earl Yar Frank, Archbishop Ethan Taylor, Earl Sam Isaacson, as well as the captains, lieutenant generals and major generals of the three major knightly orders, as well as Lee En and Dorothy, the captain of the Knights of the Dawn.
The bell rang twice in succession, announcing the approach of the monster, and the top leaders gathered here.
"My Lord Count."
Tina looked at Earl Hall and said solemnly,
"The Brody reconnaissance team was wiped out, but they thought they were still alive and brought back intelligence."
This sentence made everyone in the command room fall silent, and the atmosphere instantly became depressing.
Earl Hall frowned.
"What information?"
After sorting out and integrating the reports from Brody and others, Tina said,
"First, the behemoth within the thick fog is a massive ship from the Burns Empire. It can carry at least two thousand people and is estimated to have 40 gun emplacements."
"Second, there's a party going on a Burns Empire ship, with poets and Vess girls in attendance. There are no fewer than 200 of them."
"Third, thick fog can cause ships to lose their way and increase their return time."
"Fourth, the ships of the Burns Empire are heading in our direction."
Tina added, "But this information was brought back by Brody, and their condition looks like it's been contaminated, so the authenticity of the information remains to be verified."
"Only by figuring out what happened to Team Brody can we know if this intelligence is accurate."
Count Yair Frank said.
"That's true, but I suspect the thick fog at sea is the key. Passing through the fog will contaminate the air, and humans won't notice it. This is inherently dangerous. We need to send out at least five-star knights to gather any useful intelligence."
Tina said.
"Five-star knights? Do you think five-star knights are potatoes? They're everywhere on the street?"
Calvin, the leader of the Flame Knights, was very dissatisfied with this. His cadre Franz had suffered a loss at the hands of Li En before, not only losing the face of the Knights, but now his subordinate Brody also died in the reconnaissance mission, and Tina still asked the five-star knights to serve as scouts, which simply did not regard the lives of the knights seriously.
In addition to being the head of the group, Calvin also holds the position of vice admiral of the navy, but he does not have the real power of Tina.
In fact, the captains of the three major knightly orders are all honorary lieutenant generals, and only the captain of the Knights of the Dawn is still a lieutenant, the lowest-ranking among the senior executives present.
But Li En didn't care, he didn't even want to attend the meeting.
"If you're not a five-star knight, you won't have the ability to heal yourself, and the result will be the same as Team Brody's."
Tina said.
"These are just your guesses. Whether it's the thick fog or something they encountered along the way that they don't remember, everything is unknown. I think we should send ordinary soldiers to try again to see if the fog is the problem."
Calvin said.
Count Yar Frank nodded slightly. "I agree with this approach. The cost of losing a five-star knight is enormous."
"We have so many soldiers, and the portal has been built. We just need to put in the magic stone and it will start working. There is no need for knights to try and error."
Lord Sam Isaacson said.
Both earls expressed their views, leaving only Earl Hall to make the final decision.
Earl Hall was hesitating. The ordinary soldiers were indeed numerous, but could they obtain accurate intelligence?
Alex, the dragon egg in Dorothy's pocket, rubbed his mother and told her that he wanted to get on the ship.
Dorothy, who doted on the dragon egg, would not refuse the child's request, so she said,
"Everyone, let me go. I am a witch. Neither curses nor pollution will affect me."
"No."
Earl Hall flatly rejected Dorothy's proposal.
He would rather go on the investigation himself than send Dorothy to do such a dangerous thing.
"Miss Dorothy is right. She's a witch. If she were to conduct the investigation, it would indeed minimize casualties and ensure the accuracy of the information."
Lieutenant General Matis said.
Almost everyone has formed an inertial dependence. When encountering problems, they will look for the witch. If the witch can solve the problem, don't let the knight do it.
So no one else raised any objections, and the two earls looked at Earl Hall.
"It's fine that Dorothy didn't participate in the war, but since she did, she needs to fulfill her obligations just like everyone else."
Lord Sam Isaacson said.
He hoped that Augustus's queen would be from the Isaacson family. He didn't like to see Augustus and Dorothy get too close, so he didn't have a good impression of Dorothy.
"Dad, let me go."
Dorothy looked at Lord Hall sincerely.
"I'll go with Dorothy."
Originally, he didn't want to get involved in this matter, but Li En had gone out to sea to look for clues about Catherine. Who knows? The Burns people who had fought with the Azure Dragon Court before might know about it.
Seeing that Li En, the six-star blood knight, also took the initiative to stand up, Earl Hall finally agreed.
The main reason was that he knew his daughter very well. Even if he disagreed, if Dorothy really wanted to board the ship, she would still go there quietly by herself.
"Remember, protecting your own safety is the most important thing."
Earl Hall reminded.
"Ok."
"Do you need to send a priest to accompany you?"
Although Archbishop Ethan Taylor dislikes the gifted Li En, Li En is now a special believer, so he has to at least do some face-saving work.
"No, High Priest Fia is with me."
Li En said lightly.
What he wanted to express was that Fia had taught him a lot of church knowledge and that there was no need for priests anymore. However, considering that saying this seemed like betraying his teammates and that Fia was still a member of the Holy See, he changed his words.
But these words made Ethan Taylor's face darken instantly.
Because Ethan Taylor believed that Fia had died at sea, and this was his order.
And Fia was regarded by the secular navy as a hero who delivered key information.
Li En's words undoubtedly provoked conflict between him and the secular navy.
This made Ethan Taylor dislike Li En even more, and he wished he would die in this exploration mission.
Lee En and Dorothy boarded a small boat powered by the Philosopher's Stone without any assistants.
The two men headed towards the thick fog on the sea.
Dorothy happily took the dragon egg Alex out of her pocket and said, "Alexander, Mommy brought you out."
"So this guy wants to get on the boat?"
Li En looked at the dragon egg suspiciously.
The dragon egg tilted its body and jumped from Dorothy's palm to Li En's head, rubbing Li En's soft golden hair into a mess.
Li En grabbed the dragon egg and said, "You want to ride on Daddy's head before you even hatch? It seems you need some proper training."
The dragon egg immediately jumped back into Dorothy's hands.
The boat soon arrived at the sea covered with thick fog.
Li En also became alert, always paying attention to whether there were any negative entries appearing above Dorothy or himself.
The complex textures on the dragon egg flickered with a lavender light, and the thick fog was gradually disappearing.
Li En noticed that the egg was absorbing the thick fog on the sea.
In less than a moment, the strange thick fog was completely absorbed by the dragon egg Alexander.
A new gray pattern appeared on the surface of the dragon egg's shell. It spun around excitedly a few times and then crawled into Dorothy's pocket, like a pig that fell asleep after eating.
The view on the sea became extremely clear, and the huge Burns battleship also appeared.
Just as Brody and others reported, there was indeed a party on the ship, and Li En also heard the poem about the Weiss girl. It must be said that Burns' poet was really vulgar.
But the details were different from what Brody described. The battleship was not brand new. It was covered with rust and seaweed, as if it had just swam out from the deep sea. Although the people attending the party were dressed gorgeously, their bodies were also damaged. They exuded the stench of rotting corpses, and their skin was white and pus-filled. If it were not for the music and dance that added a strange vitality to the ship, it would have been like a ghost ship returning from an ancient battlefield.
Li En couldn't even see the entries above their heads, which meant that they were all dead, but still retained the will to continue moving.
"If anyone was still alive, I'd know what happened."
Li En said regretfully.
Dorothy also frowned. "At this rate, it will soon be approaching the temporary naval base."
"Let's go up and take a look. If the people up there can still communicate, maybe we can get them to change the direction of sailing."
Li En said.
Dorothy nodded.
The two of them jumped onto the deck of the giant battleship together.
Brody saw Li En and Dorothy and waved happily, "Lieutenant Li En, Lady Witch, you are here too."
Although he didn't like Li En, he was now on the Burns' ship, and he had to be more friendly when he saw his fellow countrymen from the empire.
With Dorothy here, there will definitely be no danger.
Not only Brody thought so, the priest and the two three-star knights also thought so. They saluted slightly towards the two.
Dorothy responded, maintaining her polite greeting.
Li En continued to pretend to be blind. At this time, it was better not to see than to see.
Fortunately, Nina Owen did not come with her, otherwise all the dead people on the ship would be looked down upon by her as if they were dog shit. It is such a sad thing that they are looked down upon even after they die.
Admiral Burns, who was dancing with the lady in red, came over and looked at Dorothy in surprise.
"I have never seen such a beautiful lady. May I invite you to dance with me, Miss?"
"Sorry, I'm not here to dance."
Dorothy rejected the admiral's proposal.
The Vice Admiral was not angry. Everyone on the ship found that the fog had dissipated and they were now immersed in joy.
"Great, the fog has finally cleared and we can get back to our headquarters."
"Yeah, the damn fog is finally gone. I was saying it must be some kind of natural phenomenon, not some monster."
"Come, let's raise a toast together."
Everyone was toasting each other, and the wine spilled all over the deck. Because most people were no longer able to drink, the wine went into their mouths and flowed out of their empty stomachs.
Looking at this strange scene, Li En asked calmly,
"Your Excellency, Lieutenant General, how long have you been in the fog at sea?"
"We've been experiencing this fog for a month and a half."
The Vice Admiral said, "But fortunately, the fog has finally dissipated. You have brought us good luck. Come, join our banquet and share the wine and food."
Facing the Vice Admiral's invitation, Dorothy slowly shook her head.
"Your Excellency, Lieutenant General, we are not here for a banquet. We would like to learn about the status of your country's attack on the Azure Dragon Court, if that is convenient for you to disclose."
"Of course, we humans must unite at sea. Follow me."
The tall and burly lieutenant general said with a smile. His left eye accidentally fell off. He picked it up from the ground without a care in the world and put it back into its socket. He said lightly, "My monocle keeps falling off lately. It's really rude."
Li En and Dorothy looked at each other, followed the vice admiral across the dance floor on the deck, and entered the cabin.
Brody and others also followed. They were originally a reconnaissance team of the Holy Empire, and there was no reason for them to continue staying outside to party.
Inside the dark cabin, the wind seeped in through the cracks, making a whimpering sound. The cabin's wooden planks were rotten, making a teeth-grinding creaking sound when stepped on. The walls were covered with creeping moss, and occasionally a beetle or two could be seen scurrying through the wet environment.
The faint candlelight flickered in a corner of the cabin, casting mottled shadows that seemed to tell the story of the ship's former glory and current desolation. The air was filled with the damp smell of mold and a faint scent of seawater, which intertwined and irritated Li En's nostrils.
At the end of the cabin, there was an old steering wheel, covered with sea salt and shell debris. Even in this dark space, the carvings on the steering wheel could still be discerned. They were once exquisite, but now only vague traces remained.
In the corner of the cabin lay some tattered ropes and a damaged wooden box, its edges warped, as if deformed by prolonged exposure to seawater. The box was empty, but the aroma of the wood from which it once stored its cargo could still be smelled.
The Vice Admiral led a few people to the captain's room, which looked like it had been abandoned for a century. He poured each of them a cup of coffee filled with seaweed and said confidently,
"Have you never seen such a magnificent warship? Yes, this September Flower is the masterpiece of our Burns Empire's top craftsmen. Come, try our coffee."
The lieutenant general lit a cigar, sat on the sagging sofa, and took two puffs. "Why don't you drink?"
"I prefer black tea."
Li En said.
Dorothy said she felt the same way.
This water grass coffee is really unpalatable.
Brody and the priest drank without a care in the world.
"Alright. I'm willing to share intelligence with you, but you also have to tell me what's wrong with my ship."
The lieutenant general's eyes suddenly became sharp.
He always felt that something was wrong with September Flower after encountering the thick fog, but he could never figure out what the problem was.
His intuition told him that the witch in front of him could tell him the answer.
Dorothy nodded slightly, "Okay, but only if you say it first."
"no problem."
The lieutenant general began to recall their attack on the Azure Dragon Court.
"Five months ago, our fleet arrived at the Azure Dragon Court, but surprisingly, there was no military garrison at all. Although the island was thriving with life, boasting numerous plants and animals, it lacked any civilization, including the sub-dragon race, let alone their treasures."
The Vice Admiral paused and continued, "We suspected we'd found the wrong place, that perhaps the island wasn't the Azure Dragon's Court after all. So, we established a temporary base on the island and sent out our fleet to continue exploring. September Flower was one of those bases, but we were caught in thick fog shortly after we set sail."
Happy Saturday everyone!
