Chapter 190 Finally Caught Ward
"Come, try dad's cooking." George smiled and asked the children to sit down.

Lynn and Gwen smiled at each other, then sat down to enjoy their delicious dinner. The atmosphere at the table was warm and harmonious, but Gwen seemed to have something to say.

"Dad," Gwen put down her chopsticks and looked at George seriously, "something happened today that I feel I need to tell you."

George was slightly stunned, then smiled and said, "Oh? What made our Gwen so serious?"

Gwen took a deep breath and began to recount what happened that night: "On our way home from school, we encountered three knife-wielding gangsters. They wanted to rob us, but my brother..."

At this point, Gwen's eyes flashed with admiration. She turned to look at Lin En and continued, "Brother is very brave. He faced those three gangsters alone and finally subdued them!"

When George heard this, the smile on his face gradually faded, replaced by a hint of worry and fear, but soon, this emotion was replaced by a more complex emotion - pride in his son.

He looked at Lynn, his eyes full of praise: "Lynn, you did a great job. I'm proud of you."

Lin En seemed a little embarrassed. He scratched his head and said, "It's nothing, actually. I just did what I should do."

"No, you did much more than that," George said seriously. "You protected your sister and showed the responsibility and courage of a brother. Not everyone can do that."

Gwen nodded repeatedly and added, "Yeah, my brother was really brave! I was stunned!"

George was even more relieved after hearing this. He knew his children had grown up and were capable of taking care of themselves. But at the same time, he also realized that as a father, he needed to give his children more support and guidance.

"Lynn, you did an excellent job today," George reaffirmed. "But I also hope you understand that bravery isn't just about standing firm in the face of danger. It's more about wisdom and strategy. In the future, when you encounter similar situations, be sure to protect yourself and your sister first."

Lynn nodded seriously, "I understand, Dad. I will work harder."

The morning sun shone through the clouds, illuminating the city streets, bringing a touch of tranquility and warmth to the bustling metropolis. However, for police officer Lynn and his partner, Hans, a new day meant a new challenge. They donned their uniforms, donned their gear, and prepared to begin another day of patrol.

"Hans, do you think there is any pattern in these recent new drug cases?" Lynn asked as he sorted out the documents in his hand.

Hans frowned, thought for a moment, and then replied, "To be honest, these cases seem random, but I always feel that there must be a larger network behind all this."

Lin En nodded in agreement: "That's right, we need to increase patrols and try to get some clues."

The two men left the police station and began their daily patrol. The streets were bustling with people, a cacophony of noises. This was the daily grind of the city. They weaved through the crowds, their sharp eyes scanning their surroundings, searching for any suspicious clues.

Suddenly, Lin En's eyes were drawn to a figure. It was a man wearing a ragged jacket and a hat, who was stealthily wandering along the street, occasionally trying to sell something to passersby.

"Hans, look at that guy." Lynn pointed at the man, "He looks a little suspicious."

Hans looked in the direction of Linn's finger and found the man. They approached quietly, trying to hear what the man was saying.

"Hey, buddy, do you want something new?" the man said mysteriously to a young man passing by.

The young man seemed curious and stopped to ask, "What's new?"

The man pulled out a small bottle from his pocket, which contained some powdery substance. "This is the latest drug, guaranteed to make you ecstatic."

Hearing this, Lin En and Hans exchanged a glance, already forming a plan. They quickly stepped forward, flashing their police credentials. "We are the police. You are suspected of drug trafficking. Please come back to the police station for investigation."

Seeing this, the man's face turned pale and he turned around and tried to run away. However, Lynn and Hans were both well-trained police officers. They quickly chased him and subdued him to the ground.

"Why are you arresting me? I haven't broken any law!" the man shouted while struggling.

"We saw you selling drugs with our own eyes. This is evidence," Lin En said, snatching the small bottle from the man's hand. "Also, we can search your residence and I'm sure we'll find more evidence."

When the man heard this, his face turned pale. He knew he had nowhere to escape and could only surrender.

At the police station, after further interrogation and investigation, it was confirmed that the man was indeed a drug dealer, and he also gave away his superiors. Based on this clue, Lynn and Hans followed the clues and eventually successfully defeated a drug trafficking gang.

"I never thought that this case could be solved so easily." Hans sighed.

Lin En shook his head. "No, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There must be a bigger force behind these drug traffickers controlling everything. We need to continue to investigate in depth to completely eradicate this cancer."

Hans listened to Lin En's words and took a deep breath. "You are right. We can't take it lightly. We must continue to work hard."

Inside the police station's interrogation room, the lights were dim and heavy. Lin En sat at the interrogation table, facing the recently arrested thug, his head lowered, a look of dejection on his face.

"Look up and look at me." Lynn's voice was calm and firm, revealing unquestionable majesty.

The gangster slowly raised his head, his eyes revealing a hint of uneasiness and fear. He knew he was in big trouble this time, and the policeman in front of him was obviously not so easy to deal with.

"Tell me, where is Ward now?" Lynn asked directly.

The gangster hesitated, trying to avoid Lynn's gaze, "I...I don't know what you're talking about."

Lin En smiled softly, but there was a hint of coldness in her smile. "Do you think you can fool me? We have found evidence of contact with Ward in your residence. Now, the only way to mitigate your crime is to cooperate with us."

The thug's face paled when he heard this. He knew he couldn't hide it any longer, so he confessed, "Okay, I'll tell you. Ward... he's hiding in an abandoned warehouse on the edge of the city."

After receiving this important clue, Lynn immediately took action and assembled a crack police team to arrest Ward.

"We must proceed with caution in this operation," Lynn told the team before departure. "Ward is a cunning fox. He might set a trap for us. So, everyone must remain vigilant and obey orders."

The team members nodded in understanding, their faces filled with determination. They knew that this operation was crucial to the peace of the entire city.

As night fell, the police car silently drove towards the abandoned warehouse. Lin En and his team members exited the car and quickly surrounded the warehouse. Once everything was ready, Lin En and several of his team members quietly approached the warehouse's main door. The door gently opened, and a chilling air filled the air. Lin En and his team members, flashlights in hand, cautiously entered the warehouse. The warehouse was completely dark, their flashlights the only light glimmering through the darkness.

They carefully searched every corner, looking for Ward's trace. Suddenly, a burst of hurried footsteps came from behind them. Lin En immediately turned around and saw a figure approaching them quickly.

"Stop! Don't move!" Lynn shouted loudly, raising the gun in his hand.

However, the figure did not stop, but instead sped up and rushed towards them. Lin En and his team quickly opened fire, but the figure nimbly dodged their bullets, clearly a well-trained master.

The two sides engaged in a fierce exchange, with gunfire and shouts echoing throughout the warehouse. However, due to the dim lighting and complex terrain inside, Lin En and his team were at a disadvantage. They were forced to fight and retreat, trying to find a more advantageous position.

Just as they were about to be forced into a desperate situation, a strong light suddenly shone from the other side of the warehouse. Lin En took the opportunity to see the face of the figure clearly. It was Ward, whom they had been chasing.

"Ward! You can't run away!" Lynn shouted.

Ward sneered, "You think you can catch me like this? How naive!" Then he turned and ran deep into the warehouse.

Lynn and his team followed closely behind, chasing him all the way. They passed through dark corners and piles of messy goods and finally reached the end of the warehouse. However, when they arrived at the end, they found that Ward had disappeared.

"Damn it! He ran away!" one team member shouted angrily.

Lin En looked around calmly, "No, he didn't run far. Let's split up and look for him. We must find him!" As he said that, he led several team members to search the other side of the warehouse.

It wasn't long before they found Ward in a hidden corner. This time, they didn't give Ward any chance to escape and quickly stepped forward to subdue him.

After a fierce fight and chase, Ward was finally captured and brought to justice. When the sirens rang out in the night sky, it marked the temporary end of this battle between justice and evil.

The team members gathered around and looked at Ward, who was subdued to the ground, with smiles of victory on their faces. Lynn stood aside and took a deep breath.

The atmosphere in the interrogation room was tense and heavy. Lynn sat at the table, staring at Ward across from him with a fiery gaze. Although Ward had been subdued, a hint of disdain and provocation still lingered on his face.

"Ward, tell me, where is the research institute for new drugs?" Lynn's voice was firm and powerful, revealing unquestionable majesty.

Ward smiled softly and shook his head. "Officer Lynn, that's an interesting question. I'm just a small salesman. How would I know the location of the research institute?"

Lin En frowned, clearly unhappy. "Ward, don't play tricks on me. We already have enough evidence to prove that you are closely related to this new drug case. Now, the only way to mitigate your guilt is to confess."

Hearing this, the smile on Ward's face gradually disappeared, replaced by a cold look. "Humph, what do you think you know? It's just the surface. Let me tell you, this research institute is not in China, but overseas. I'm just in charge of sales. You are not qualified to know the real boss behind the scenes."

Lin En's heart skipped a beat when he heard this. He had long suspected that there might be a bigger secret behind this case, and now it seemed his suspicions were correct. But Ward's attitude was clearly provocative, and he had to find a way to get him to confess.

"Ward, do you think I can't do anything to you just because you said that?" Lin En said coldly, "I'm telling you, no matter where this research institute is, no matter who is behind it, we will definitely track it down to the end. If you confess now, you can still hope for leniency. Otherwise, you will be severely punished by law."

Ward remained unmoved. He smiled again, "Officer Lin, you're so adorably naive. You think the law can punish me? Let me tell you, in this world, money talks. Even if you find the research institute and catch the boss behind it, what will happen? By then, someone will naturally take care of everything for us."

Hearing this, Lin En's heart was filled with rage. He slammed the table and stood up. "Ward, you are too arrogant! Do you think that money can solve everything? I tell you, there is still justice and fairness in this world! I will make you pay the price you deserve!"

Ward was startled by Lynn's sudden outburst, but he quickly regained his composure. "Huh, justice and fairness? Those are just things you policemen use to comfort yourselves. In this real world, only power and money are eternal."

Lin En took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He knew that it was pointless to argue with a criminal like Ward. He had to remain calm and continue to get to the bottom of the case.

"Ward, let me ask you again, where is the research institute for new drugs?" Lynn sat down again, staring at Ward closely.

Ward closed his eyes and fell silent. He had clearly decided not to cooperate with Lynn anymore and was waiting for his fate. But Lynn had no intention of giving up. He knew the key to the case lay with Ward. If only Ward spoke, they would be able to follow the clues and find the real culprit. So he decided to change his strategy and use a psychological approach.

"Ward, I know you're a smart man. You should understand that the current situation is not favorable to you." Lynn said in a slow tone, "If you are willing to cooperate with us to find the boss behind the scenes and the location of this institute, I can guarantee that you will receive a fair trial and treatment. Otherwise..."

Lynn didn't continue, but the meaning was clear. Ward opened his eyes and looked at Lynn, a hint of hesitation in his eyes. He was indeed weighing the pros and cons, considering whether he should tell Lynn the truth. But at this moment, the door of the interrogation room suddenly opened, and a mysterious man in a black suit and sunglasses walked in. His appearance immediately broke the balance in the interrogation room.

"Mr. Ward, your lawyer is here," the man said coldly. "I'm going to take him away from here now." He walked over to Ward and uncuffed him.

Ward stood up, straightened his clothes, and gave Lynn a provocative look before turning and following the mysterious man out of the interrogation room. Lynn didn't try to stop them, knowing that doing anything more would be futile. He watched Ward's retreating back, feeling a sense of defeat, yet also a growing resolve to uncover the truth.

Two weeks passed quickly, and the streets of Manhattan returned to their former tranquility. The shadow of the new drug seemed to have dissipated overnight, but the atmosphere within the police station did not relax much.

Lin En stood at the police station window, gazing into the distance, a mixture of emotions welling up in his heart. He and his colleagues had been working tirelessly day and night to track down leads. While they had successfully apprehended Ward and a number of other drug traffickers, the true mastermind behind the operation remained at large. He knew the battle was far from over.

At this moment, the phone suddenly rang, breaking Lin En's thoughts. He turned around and answered the phone. The warm voice of his adoptive father George came from the receiver: "Lin En, are you free tonight? There's a family gathering at home. Can you come back and join us?"

Lin En was slightly stunned, then smiled and said, "Of course, Dad. I'll be back soon." After hanging up the phone, he took a deep breath and decided to put aside the troubles at work for the time being and go home to enjoy the rare warm time.

That evening, the Lin family's living room was brightly lit and filled with laughter. George, Gwen, and other relatives and friends gathered to celebrate this wonderful evening. As soon as Lin En entered the room, Gwen pulled him to sit on the sofa and began to be "interrogated" by everyone.

"Lin En, I heard that you solved another big case recently. That's amazing!"

"Yes, Brother Lin En has always been our pride!"

Facing everyone's praise, Lin En scratched his head a little embarrassedly. "It's nothing, actually. It's all thanks to everyone." He looked around and suddenly found that his adoptive father George was not in the living room. "By the way, where's Dad?"

"Oh, he went to prepare hunting supplies." Gwen explained, "Dad said you've been working too hard lately, and he wanted to take you hunting in the wild to relax."

Hearing this, Lin En felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He knew this was an activity specially arranged by his adoptive father, hoping to allow him to temporarily escape the pressure of work and enjoy the tranquility of rural life. So, he stood up and said, "Then I'll go help Dad prepare."

Arriving in the backyard, Lin En saw George busy sorting his hunting rifle and equipment. He walked over and said softly, "Dad, let me help you."
