Chapter 232 Planning a New Attack
Chapter 232 Planning a New Attack
After the interrogation, Lynn walked out of the room and Carter was waiting at the door.
"What did he say?" Carter asked.
"He told us everything." Lynn took a deep breath and handed the interrogation record to Carter. "Notify all local police stations immediately and stop the operations in Los Angeles and Chicago. We can't let his organization destroy anything again."
Carter nodded, but couldn't help asking, "Lynn, do you think he really admitted his mistake?"
Lynn looked toward the interrogation room window. Elliot inside looked tired and lonely. He shook his head. "Whether he admits his mistakes or not is no longer important. What matters is that his faith has collapsed, and we must repair the damage he has caused."
As the order was issued, the FBI began to comprehensively crack down on the remaining organizations dominated by Rose.
In the early morning hours of Manhattan, dark clouds shrouded the skyline. Lynn stood in the center of the FBI's Manhattan operations room, his gaze sharp and his tone steady. A digital screen displayed a map of the Rose Organization's key strongholds. From Manhattan to Los Angeles to Chicago, the numerous red dots across the country demonstrated the organization's sophistication and secrecy.
"This is our final blow," Lynn said, his tone filled with unquestionable determination. "The Rose Lord has revealed all his plans. We must act swiftly to completely dismantle this organization and prevent the attack they are preparing."
Carter stood aside and added, "We have coordinated with FBI branches and local law enforcement agencies in various places. The clearing operations in various places will be carried out simultaneously. We will be responsible for the clearing in Manhattan, which is the core stronghold of the Rose Lord."
All the agents in the conference room nodded. They all understood that the success or failure of this operation was not only related to their duties, but also to the safety of countless lives.
Meanwhile, Kate sat at the FBI's temporary interview point, sorting out the information she had. As a reporter covering the entire operation, she was well aware of the historical significance of this battle.
She spoke into the recording device: "The Rose Organization, a secretive group claiming to fight for justice, has concealed its so-called beliefs with killing and terror. Today, the FBI will launch a comprehensive crackdown. This is not just an operation, but a defense of justice and order."
Kate looked up at the busy detectives, a complex mix of emotions welling up in her heart. She knew that everything she had recorded would become an important window for people to understand the truth.
At 12 noon sharp, the clearing operation officially began. Lin En led the team out, their target being an abandoned factory in the East Side of Manhattan, the last known base of the Rose Organization in New York.
"Everyone, be careful! The factory may be filled with traps and resistance elements," Lynn ordered through the headset. "Keep your formation and proceed with caution."
The team quickly surrounded the factory, and with the assistance of the technical team, they unlocked the defense system outside the factory and entered the interior.
The factory was filled with the smell of chemicals, and equipment and supplies were piled up in a mess. Lin En led the way, his ears nervously catching every sound.
"Someone has been here." Carter whispered, pointing to the fresh footprints on the ground.
They continued to move deeper and eventually found several militants in the factory's central control room. They had obviously realized that someone was approaching and were preparing to fight.
"FBI! Drop your weapons!" Lynn shouted.
However, the enemy showed no sign of backing down, and the first bullet quickly pierced the air. Lin En quickly led his men into hiding, and a fierce exchange of fire ensued in the narrow space.
"Attention! There's someone on the right!" Carter warned, accurately shooting a criminal who was trying to launch a sneak attack.
Lin En observed the enemy leader trying to operate a computer from behind the bunker and immediately ordered: "Don't let them start any systems! Technical team, disrupt their equipment immediately!"
With the intervention of the technical team, the Rose Organization's communications and operating systems were forcibly cut off. Lin En seized the opportunity and led the team to attack and quickly subdued all the militants.
Kate stood outside the factory, her palms sweating from the distant gunfire and explosions. She watched as an FBI armored vehicle pulled up at the factory gate and agents quickly led a handcuffed suspect out.
"This is Detective Lynn and his team. They've just completed the operation on Manhattan's East Side," Kate said to the camera. "The Rose Organization's last stronghold in New York has been destroyed, but the battle is not yet completely over."
Her eyes were fixed on Lin En's figure. His face was tired, but his eyes were full of determination.
Simultaneously, operations were underway in Los Angeles and Chicago. The two local police stations reported victory: all core members had been arrested, and the large-scale attack had been completely prevented.
Lin En stood in the command vehicle, listening to reports from various places, and a look of relief finally appeared on his face.
"The success rate of the operation is 100 percent," Carter told him. "The Rose Lord's organization has been completely disintegrated."
"Are there any unresolved hidden dangers?" Lynn asked.
Carter shook his head. "All major strongholds have been eliminated. The member lists and plans are already in our possession. They are no longer able to cause any more trouble."
After the operation, Kate's reporting became a national sensation, with her writing and videos detailing the Rose Organization's atrocities, the details of the crackdown, and the heroic performance of Lynn and his team.
In a live TV interview, Kate said to the camera: "Today's victory belongs not only to the FBI, but also to all those who fight for justice. The Rose Organization tried to cover up the truth with fear, but in the end, their beliefs were destroyed by their own violence. And all this is the result of the unremitting efforts of Detective Lynn and his team."
After the operation, Lynn returned to his office, with the bustling night scene of Manhattan outside the window. He sat at the desk, holding a copy of Kate's report in his hand, his eyes calm.
Carter walked in and said, "It's finally over, Lynn. You can take a break."
Lin En smiled slightly, but didn't relax. "Maybe it's over, but organizations like Rose Domination will never completely disappear. As long as there are injustices and conflicts, there will be people who try to resolve them with extreme means."
"But you won today." Carter patted his shoulder.
Lin En nodded, looked out the window, and whispered, "Yes, we won today. And tomorrow, we will continue to protect this city."
At night, the streets of Manhattan, illuminated by streetlights, shone brightly like daylight. Yet, in some dim corners, danger still lurked. Kate, bag slung over her shoulder, walked wearily toward a nearby taxi. She checked the time on her phone, mentally recounting a manuscript she needed to revise when she got home.
"Kate Bennett." A cold voice suddenly came from the darkness.
Kate looked up suddenly and saw two strange men walking out from the shadows at the corner of the street. They were wearing ordinary clothes, but there was a malicious look in their eyes. They approached step by step, blocking Kate's way.
"Who are you?" Kate forced herself to remain calm and took a step back. "You've exposed Rose's secret," one of them sneered. "Do you think you can just go home safe and sound? Some people don't like your talkativeness."
Kate's heartbeat quickened. She realized these people might be remnants of the Rose Organization. Even though their crackdown was over, some still slipped through the net. These people clearly harbored a grudge against her report.
"I advise you not to act rashly." Kate tried to keep her voice calm. "The FBI is monitoring every member of the Rose Organization. Anything you do now will expose you."
"FBI?" Another scoffed. "They can't catch us. Today, I'm just teaching you a lesson."
As soon as the words fell, one of them suddenly rushed towards Kate. She retreated in panic, but stumbled and almost fell. Just when she thought she had no way to escape, a familiar and deep voice came from behind her.
"Let her go."
Lin En got out of a black SUV, holding a pistol and pointing it at the two men. His eyes were cold, and his voice was full of unquestionable authority: "You have three seconds to give up - or I will send you to the hospital and then to jail."
The two men were clearly not expecting someone to suddenly appear, and this person looked like someone they couldn't be underestimated. They were stunned for a moment, but one of them gritted his teeth and said, "Who are you? This is none of your business!"
"I'm FBI Detective Lin En." Lin En's voice became even colder. "Whether this is any of my business or not, what do you think?"
The men looked at each other and began to hesitate. They knew that Lin En's identity was not a bluff, and they had no advantage in this empty street.
"We will come again!" One of them threatened viciously, then the two turned and ran into the night, quickly disappearing.
Lynn put down the gun and walked quickly to Kate's side: "Are you okay?"
Kate took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down: "It's okay...thanks to you. Why are you here?"
Lin En sighed and reached out to hold her arm. "Your reports these past few days have attracted too much attention. Although the Rose Organization has been dismantled, some remnants are still targeting you. I'm worried that they might harm you, so I decided to come and pick you up after get off work."
Kate forced a smile. "It seems you were right to be worried. Thank you, Lynn."
Lynn escorted Kate to the SUV and drove into the Manhattan night. Silence fell on the car. Kate seemed to be still digesting the thrilling scene, while Lynn's eyes remained fixed on the front, his expression grim.
"I really didn't expect them to retaliate so quickly." Kate finally spoke, her voice filled with a hint of anger and a hint of fear. "I thought that with the Rose Lord being captured, all this was over."
"That's the problem," Lynn whispered. "Organizations like the Rose were never run by one person. Their core has been destroyed, but the remnants are still active. They hate us, and they hate people like you who expose their truth even more."
Kate nodded. "So you think they'll keep coming after me?"
"I won't give them a chance." Lin En's eyes were firm. "I will arrange for protection measures to ensure your personal safety. What happened today will not happen again."
Kate glanced at him sideways, her eyes showing some complexity: "Lynn, you've done enough. This is my job, and I don't want to back down just because of danger."
Lin En smiled slightly, with a hint of tenderness in her tone: "I know you won't back down, that's why I'm worried about you. You always take the responsibility on yourself, but this time you have to let me help you share it."
Kate was touched by this for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure and said softly, "Okay, but I hope this is only short-term protection. I don't want to live in a safe bubble every day."
Lin En nodded slightly: "Short term, unless necessary."
When Lynn dropped Kate off at home, his phone suddenly vibrated. It was an urgent message from the technical department:
"Inspector, while tracking the two suspects who attacked Kate tonight, we discovered a larger hidden network. The remaining members of the Rose Organization may be uniting with other extremists to try to launch new actions."
Lin En's brows furrowed, his vigilance reaching its highest point again. He looked at Kate, hesitated for a moment, and finally decided not to tell her.
"Good night, Kate," he said. "Remember to lock the door, and call me if you need anything."
Kate nodded, and as she watched Lynn leave, a strange sense of security surged in her heart.
After Lynn returned to the office, he immediately summoned Carter and the technical team. A new network diagram appeared on the screen, and the connected nodes in the diagram showed that the remaining members of the Rose Organization were contacting other antisocial groups through the underground network.
"These people may be planning new attacks," Carter whispered.
Lin En's eyes were cold. "We can't give them any chance to breathe. Notify all departments, increase surveillance, and catch these people in one fell swoop."
The next day, Lin En had a rare moment of respite. As he was finishing up the case report, his phone suddenly vibrated. It was Kate calling.
"Kate?" Lynn answered the phone, a hint of relief in her voice.
"Lynn," Kate's voice sounded cheerful, "tomorrow is the weekend, and my parents invited you to dinner at their house. I've told them you've helped me a lot, and they'd love to meet you."
Lin En was stunned, put down the documents in his hand, and said hesitantly: "Meet your parents? Kate, I just did my duty, this is not appropriate."
"Don't be so modest," Kate said with a smile, "If it weren't for you, they might have lost their daughter long ago. Don't worry, my parents are very easygoing. It's just a simple family dinner, don't be nervous."
Lin En smiled helplessly: "Okay, then what do I need to bring?"
Kate thought for a moment. "My mom likes flowers, and my dad... well, he likes wine. Just be yourself. They won't mind."
"Understood, I'll be there on time." Lin En agreed, but a little nervousness rose in his heart. He didn't often face such family occasions, let alone Kate's parents.
In the evening, Lynn took some time to go to a high-end gift shop in Manhattan. He stood in front of the shelves, looking left and right, looking a little overwhelmed.
