The Witcher: Make Witcher Great Again

Chapter 287 The Sheep from Heaven

Chapter 287 The Sheep from Heaven
It is said that in this mine, a worker was killed by a dead sheep that fell from the sky. This was obviously an accident, but the workers in the mine insisted that it was the result of angering the gods.

There was no other way, so the mine owner had to ask a demon hunter to come and take a look.

When Lin En arrived at the mine, before he got close, he heard a man yelling.

"How long do you plan to slack off, you lazy bastards? How can this be a natural disaster? It's just an unfortunate coincidence, nothing more."

"Hurry back to work! If we don't meet the required production, I won't have a good life, and neither will you."

Lynn walked into the mine and saw a large group of workers sitting in an open space. A man wearing a purple coat and a gorgeous hat with a feather on the edge was yelling at the workers.

The man with the domineering look on his face clearly is the boss of this mine.

One of the workers said angrily to the mine owner.

"Is that what you're going to tell Lucky's widow? That a sheep killed him and it was just an accident?"

Another worker's temper was much better: "Sir, this matter is very serious and requires expert treatment. We need to ask a druid to help."

Lynn came over and introduced herself.

"I heard your conversation. It just so happens that I'm here to solve this problem."

The workers looked at Lynn, but their eyes were full of distrust.

"Sir, you don't look like a druid or a warlock. I've never seen a druid wearing armor and carrying two swords."

Lin En picked up the badge on his chest and said, "I'm a demon hunter. I can also remove curses, if there are any."

One worker vehemently retorted:

"Curse? No, this is not a curse, but a terrible natural disaster!"

Lin En nodded noncommittally: "Okay, well, it's a terrible natural disaster. So, can someone tell me specifically what's going on?"

An older worker said slowly.

"Laki, our co-worker and friend, was killed by a sheep that fell from the sky. This must be the result of angering the gods."

"The last time they were angry, they sent locusts and frogs to Zerekan. This time they are sending us sheep."

"It's 'they,' not 'they,'" Lin En corrected. "If the gods are really as stingy as you think, then you'd better not make a mistake in such a small detail as the name."

The mine owner looked at the frightened workers with pale faces and said helplessly.

"Please, Master Witcher, please be kind and stop scaring them."

"Of course, I was just joking. Don't worry, gentlemen. The gods are not so petty."

Even though Lin En said this, the workers' expressions didn't improve much.

"Anyway, Master Witcher, please follow me over here and I'll explain the situation to you."

The mine owner took Lynn to the other side, far away from the workers and out of their reach.

The mine owner then said.

"Indeed, it's quite unfortunate that he was killed by a sheep. It's a very regrettable loss, Lucky. He was a hardworking and good worker."

"I told them there must be a reasonable and simple explanation. But they wouldn't listen and insisted it was an 'act of God'. Oh, they're killing me."

Lynn crossed her arms.

"Well, so what you need me to do is to figure out why sheep fell from the sky and prevent the same thing from happening again in the future?"

"Correct."

"No problem, but I have to go to the scene first."

Lin En had originally thought that after so many days, the bodies of the sheep and the workers had probably been disposed of. He could only go to the scene and judge the situation based on other traces.

As a result, the mine owner's next words shocked him.

"The dead sheep and the workers who were crushed to death are still there. Just go there. It's probably still stinking today. Maybe you should find something to cover your mouth and nose. It might make you feel better."

Lynn was shocked.

"What? Forget about the sheep, but you didn't even send anyone to bury the workers' bodies properly?"

The mine owner seemed completely unaware that there was something wrong with their operations: "Didn't you see how superstitious they were? Superstition has frightened them."

"What about you? You don't look scared. Why don't you do it?"

"Are you kidding? If I have to do everything myself, why should I spend money to hire someone? Master, have we discussed enough? Can you start working?" The mine owner said righteously.

Lynn: "..."

This is what it means to be a newborn calf that is not afraid of a tiger.

Just because of so-called face, or some other messy thing, they just left the body there.

Don’t think about it at all. What if a corpse-eating creature follows the smell?
Necrophagous creatures like to eat corpses, but they are not averse to eating living people either.

"One last question. With so many workers in the mine, did no one see what happened?"

The mine owner shook his head.

"No, we just suddenly heard the roar of some unknown beast. We were almost deafened, Master..."

At the end, the mine owner hesitated to speak.

Linn waved his hand.

"Okay, okay, don't rush me anymore. I'll go check it out, but I suggest you prepare my reward while I'm away."

"If you give me a bitter face when I come back, I will be very angry."

……

The bodies of the people killed by the sheep and the bodies of the sheep were on the other side of the mine.

When Lin En came here cautiously, he unexpectedly found that the corpse had already started to stink, but it had not attracted any corpse-eating creatures.

He sighed at the moment: "These people are so lucky."

If this situation happened on the mainland, not only would the two bodies be eaten clean, but even the workers in the mine over there would probably suffer.

Lynn walked towards the body, and a large flock of crows standing on the body were startled and flew away.

"Okay, where do I begin?"

He half-knelt down, his eyes fixed on the worker's head, which was pinned down by the sheep. "The base of his skull is cracked, probably from some kind of heavy blow... Well, there are no other wounds on his body."

Then he looked up at the sky again.

It seems as if I saw the scene back then:
The worker was suddenly hit on the head by a sheep falling from the sky and died on the spot.

Then he examined the sheep's body.

"There are multiple bruises on the tissue, caused by falling from a height. The stomach is cut open, and there are multiple wounds on the body. These must have been caused by extremely sharp claws."

"Judging from the angle and length, it's the claw of a fork-tailed dragon."
