Chapter 15

Chapter 15

We walked like this for nearly an hour! Then we came to a fork in the road, with two roads opening to the left and two to the right. I was a little hesitant about which road to take. Normally, if you encounter a situation like this with two or more people on your side, you'd go your separate ways. But I didn't want to choose either side. I wanted to team up so we could help each other.

While I was hesitating, Alice came over and said, "Why don't we split up and go in two directions? This way our chances of success will be greater!"

Hearing this, I felt something was off. Why the success rate? When did we only think about success? Oh, right, it was when I successfully obtained the Ice Soul Blade! Ever since then, I've been inexplicably obsessed with success!

"Alice, when did you start thinking about success?" I asked Alice eagerly.

"Probably when we shattered that big crystal just now!" Alice said thoughtfully.
I pondered this in my mind. Based on the information I had, this thought only occurred after I shattered the large crystal! Before then, nothing had happened. Could it be the dust that had transformed into starlight? This thought suddenly filled me with fear. If that were the case, Alice and I would remain in this illusion forever! I pinched my face, feeling a slight pain, but not noticeable. This further solidified my thoughts. I quickly activated my divine vision and looked around. The sight gave me a chill. Directly ahead of us lay a sheer cliff. It seemed every path would lead to a dead end!

I remember Alice once asking me how I realized we were under a spell. I told her, "I didn't know what I'd encounter once I went in!" Why did my intuition tell me the key word "success"? The answer is that this feeling was abnormal! What I didn't mention was that I couldn't see the map! Let Alice worship me! That way, my image of greatness won't be shattered!

Anyway! I looked at the map in the lower right corner again, and this time I could see it! Besides that room, there weren't any decent rooms around here. Alice and I explored them all in less than half a day! The rewards were quite generous, including some valuable items and jewelry! And all sorts of materials!

After some tidying up, we set off back to the village. When we arrived at the village, it wasn't as deserted as the last time I came. There were even villagers cleaning up the traces of my last battle! I quickly stopped a villager and asked, "What happened before? Why was there no one in the village?"

The villagers looked at my attire and then went back to cleaning. "You look like adventurers. Did you successfully kill the ogre this time?"

I was so surprised that I was speechless. I stared at the villager blankly and said, "Oh my god, big brother, how did you know I succeeded? I haven't even shared this good news with you yet!"

The villagers' dull eyes brightened up as soon as they heard me. They excitedly grabbed my shoulders and asked, "Are you serious? Are you serious?" I was almost dizzy from shaking him, and I quickly said, "Brother, I'm serious! Please stop shaking me like that! I'm almost dizzy!"

Perhaps the villagers were too excited. As soon as I said that, they quickly took their hands off my shoulders and scratched their heads, saying, "I'm sorry! Adventurer, I was really excited just now and didn't pay attention to cause you trouble!"

I quickly shook my head and replied, "It's okay, this is human nature! I can understand it!" After hearing what I said, the man quickly turned around and ran, shouting as he ran, "That's great, that's great, the ogres have been defeated! We are saved! We don't have to worry about being attacked by ogres anymore!" People on the road were stunned when they heard this, and it took a while for someone to react. Suddenly, the atmosphere in the village became lively, and people began to walk around the streets to tell each other this great news!
I was stunned on the spot, watching all this with a slight smile on my face. Alice beside me said to me: "Why are you so happy!"

I smiled and replied, "This scene reminds me of my hometown, the lively festivals of the past! People walked through the streets and alleys, visiting relatives and friends! It was so lively!"

"What is Brother Yun's hometown like? Can you tell me about it?" Alice said shyly.
"The people in my hometown are very simple and innocent! There is no famine, no monsters, and even very few diseases! People live happily there! Whenever people encounter difficulties or dangers, there will always be the people's soldiers who will appear to save the situation and save the country from collapse! There are many more!" I said to myself.

Alice looked at me with tears in her eyes and didn't say anything to comfort me because she knew I was missing her.
I was just about to continue reminiscing about my hometown when I noticed that the villagers in front of me were walking quickly towards us, led by an old man! I looked at the crowd and saw that they all had bright smiles on their faces! It was obvious that they all had good intentions. Seeing this, I was completely relieved!
However, in a dark corner that Ling Yun did not notice, there was a guy with a gloomy face watching all this.

"Tsk, I've worked so hard to prepare a plan, but it's ruined by someone else. I'm so unwilling. These two people don't seem to be easy to deal with. Although this plan failed, I still collected a lot of resentful spirits! I won't bother with them this time, and quickly rush to the next planned point!" The suspicious man muttered to himself.

However, our protagonist cannot discover what is happening here!
"Excuse me, are you two adventurers?" asked the leading old man.
Before I could say anything, a man next to the old man rushed in and said, "That's right! They are the village chiefs. I just heard them say it myself!"

The village chief's face twitched, and he ignored the man. Then he said, "Excuse me, adventurer, have those ogres really been defeated?"

I was just about to answer when the conversation was interrupted by that person again!
"I heard him say with my own ears that they destroyed the ogre's lair!"

Before the man could finish, the village chief kicked him in the face with a frown on his face! He yelled, "Are you the village chief or am I the village chief? You've already said everything to me, what else can I say? Bastard, shut up!"

Alice and I were really enlightened after seeing such a tough village chief!
