The world begins with Hong Kong movies

Domestic film studios were delighted to receive the invitation.
They immediately took out their best recently filmed movies and prepared to submit them to the film festival held in South China for judging.
Film companies on Hong Kong Island were extremely excited.
I think this is a good opportunity. If we can sell our excellent films to Russia and Eastern Europe through the film festival held in South China, that would be the best.
They never had such an opportunity before!
South China Film Group has a tight grip on distribution channels, leaving Hong Kong film companies with no choice but to comply, even if they have ideas.
To put it bluntly, besides being an art form, movies are also a commodity.
In fact, domestic film studios also have this idea, but they just don't like to say it out loud.
No matter how famous a film is, it's useless if it can't make money; film studios have limited funds.
Even the scattered filmmakers in Southeast Asia are quite delighted.
In the past, when have they ever been invited to participate by any international film festival?
It’s funny to say!
As news spread that the South China Film Festival was about to be held, the discordant voices in China that had previously been directed at "My Struggle in Beijing" miraculously disappeared.
All I can say is that some people and things maintain the same style of conduct as always, and the tradition is passed down in an orderly manner.
In fact, the domestic film industry was in a very awkward position at that time.
Despite the fact that "Shaolin Temple" achieved good box office results and received excellent reviews in 1982, it was a disappointing success.
In a world where Nanhua exists, the popularity of "Shaolin Temple" is nowhere near that of a normal world.
In this world, Bruce Lee is still alive and has long since become a transcendent powerhouse. He is also the undisputed number one kung fu star in the world.
For various reasons, Bruce Lee made a movie almost every two or three years, but each time he managed to gross over 100 million dollars at the box office.
His position in the film industry is unshakeable!
Bruce Lee's films took individual heroism to its extreme.
Moreover, each time in the movies, the target is either Westerners or ordinary people.
In short, it is extremely popular in the Chinese-speaking world!
With the continuous holding of world fighting tournaments, there is no shortage of super-limited masters who can cooperate with his fight scenes.
His film style has gradually evolved from normal action scenes to exchanges between masters of unparalleled skill.
It gives the impression of the Street Fighter movie.
It is said that the United States is quite dissatisfied with this.
Because of movies like this, kung fu fans all over the world have witnessed the world's truly top-tier, super-powerful fighters.
If too many people knew about the existence of the super-limited masters, it wouldn't be a good thing for the powerful figures in the United States.
As for large-scale action scenes similar to those in "Shaolin Temple," Nanhua Film Studio has already produced many classic films. At least for now, they are considered classics.
For example, the story of the Southern Shaolin Temple cooperating with Qi Jiguang's army to fight against Japanese pirates during the Ming Dynasty is at least more grand in its theme and scale than "Shaolin Temple".
There's also the famous anti-Japanese general Yu Daqiu, whose martial prowess in single-handedly defeated the Southern Shaolin Temple, making for a very exciting movie.
"Shaolin Temple" is still the same story of a survivor who learns martial arts to avenge his family's murder. It's just that it's given the guise of the "Thirteen Shaolin Monks Save the King of Qin" story. With its grand scale and focus on real martial arts, it caused a sensation in the East Asian film industry in a normal timeline.
However, similar films have already been shot in Nanhua, and they have been screened on a large scale throughout the country.
Therefore, the achievements of "Shaolin Temple" are far inferior to those in the normal timeline.
Putting aside other factors, the box office revenue in other regions was much worse. Domestically, only "Shaolin Temple" performed well at the box office, while the other films failed to make much of a splash.
It's the same reason!
Nanhua Films was able to be screened on a large scale in China as early as 1975.
The variety is vast, and the shooting techniques are all very commercial, meaning they are very eye-catching.
It's like a love story under construction, with that passionate, burning camaraderie that's far superior to the so-called "Romance on Lushan Mountain."
Indeed, movies like "Romance on Lushan Mountain" and "The Herdsman," which have strong fantasies, haven't made much of a splash yet.
Anyone with a sound mind knows that the content of these two movies is highly unreliable.
If this were set in later generations, it would probably only be made into a web series. One would be called "The Rich and Beautiful Overseas Chinese Falls in Love with Me," and the other would be "I Inherited a Billion-Dollar Fortune in a Beautiful Country." That's the kind of thing it would be.
When the two films were screened, they were ridiculed by the South China audience quite a bit.
When the news reached China, it resonated with audiences, but naturally it couldn't achieve the same sensational success as in normal times.
As a result, South China Films replaced American films ahead of schedule and almost dominated most of the domestic film market.
Most of the films that could have generated a viewing frenzy and gained immense popularity in normal times and spaces have faded into obscurity.
In other words, art films can still struggle a little longer.
However, domestic audiences, having seen too many of South China's commercial genre films, don't really like art films with agonizingly slow plots.
In normal time and space, there's nothing that can be done!
Moreover, the criteria for judging films are mostly in the hands of academics, so in order not to be labeled as "country bumpkins," audiences have no choice but to hold their noses and echo the chorus.
But right now, the audience naturally knows to choose with their feet.
In other words, Nanhua Films doesn't have those messy personal touches mixed in.
In terms of values and stance, it is even more correct than domestic films.
This is why nothing bad happened despite South China Film becoming a mainstream movie-going phenomenon in China.
Given this situation, it's no wonder that the domestic authorities are in a bad mood, but unfortunately, those in charge are being incompetent.
With their connections to major film studios and extensive experience, they had no worries about not having any roles to play, so they naturally followed old ways of thinking and old habits.
The current situation is actually not too bad, and the major film studios can still play their due role.
Once external funds come in, that's when things really get chaotic.
It's not that some members of the domestic film industry have complained, hoping that relevant departments will block the import and screening of films from South China Film Group.
The problem is that South China Film Group and the domestic film screenings are the same number of films, and they didn't do anything underhanded.
In other words, many domestically produced films were screened in the rapidly expanding cinemas of South China, but unfortunately, the results were not very good.
They'll give it a maximum of a week for a proper screening period. If the box office results are really bad, then they'll have to pull it from theaters early, and the domestic authorities won't have anything to say about that.
Not to mention, most of the employees at Nanhua Film Studio were recruited from mainland film studios, and they are still recruiting continuously, so the relationship between the two companies can be described as quite close.
Under such circumstances, to say that Nanhua deliberately targeted them would be to treat outsiders like fools.
They are all talents trained by domestic film studios, so why do they all transform themselves when they go to Nanhua?
