Secrets: Priestess

Chapter 101 Confrontation

Chapter 101 Dialogue
In the dim afterglow, in a private room of the gradually bustling bar, Claire sat leisurely on a soft sofa.

Next to her, there was a golden retriever squatting.

However, this golden retriever actually showed an extremely human expression of grievance.

"You should be able to talk, right?" Claire leaned sideways, sizing up the golden retriever with curiosity.

This was her first time coming into contact with a supernatural being.

Or it is artificially "manufactured".

"Yes, ma'am. I have a name too, ma'am. You can call me 'Susie'."

Susie responded helplessly in a low voice. She didn't dare to resist the terrifying woman who had captured her.

"How did you become a supernatural creature? Did you accidentally eat the master's 'magic potion'?"

Claire asked knowingly, her gaze even colder with a hint of malicious amusement, "Or... did you accidentally consume your former master's Beyonder characteristics?"

In an instant, Susie felt that this elegant woman had become murderous.

Seeing that the lady in front of her seemed to associate her with a dog that had eaten people, Susie quickly explained, "No, no... I accidentally ate the 'magic potion' prepared by my master."

Claire said calmly, "Can you recount the scene?"

In order to gain the other party's trust, Susie recalled:

"At that time, my master placed a cup of freshly brewed potion in the corner of the laboratory. She had intended to take it, but she was interrupted by a maid... When my master was dealing with the maid who came to report something, I accidentally knocked over the bottle of potion."

Susie looked embarrassed and said, "I wanted to clean up the scene of my mistake, so I instinctively licked the potion clean."

It turns out Miss Justice didn't intentionally feed the potion to her pet.

Claire had previously thought that Miss Justice was wealthy and was experimenting with potions?

Claire continued to ask, "What's the name of that potion?"

But this time Susie remained silent. She was resisting the question that would expose the master's key information.

Claire sighed in her heart, "Justice" is really a lucky lady—

It was probably Susie's loyalty that prevented "Justice" from having his throat bitten off by an out-of-control pet in his sleep.

"Your master didn't punish you for this?" Claire asked.

Susie replied, "My master is gentle, tolerant and rich."

Claire made a "tsk" sound in her heart.

Claire asked again, "Do you think your master will come here to 'keep the appointment' and rescue you?"

Susie sighed, "I don't want her to come, but she will definitely come."

"You know your master very well." Claire sighed. She had a more concrete understanding of Miss Justice's image.

At this moment, Claire's dark red eyes saw two familiar female figures approaching the private room outside the partition.

They were leading a taller woman.

The two familiar figures stopped not far from the door.

The tallest woman came to the door of the private room where Claire was and knocked.

"Please come in." Claire said.

A young, confident, and delicate girl pushed the door open and walked in. Her scrutinizing gaze fell on Claire and she said, "I didn't expect that such an elegant lady would 'kidnap' my dog."

Claire smiled slightly and said:
"I never thought that the person behind such a dangerous case would be you, Miss Audrey Hall."

Audrey sat across from Claire. Observing that Susie was unharmed, she felt relieved, straightened her posture, and said to Claire, "Ma'am, could you tell me your name?"

Claire tapped her chest four times, creating a crimson crescent shape. She said, "Galadia, affiliated with the Church of the Evernight Goddess, captain of the seventh squad of the Red Gloves."

Claire took out the church emblem that represented her identity and pushed it towards Audrey.

Audrey also drew a crimson crescent on her chest and said, "Praise the goddess."

Audrey then picked up the badge on the table in front of her.

"Red gloves..."

Audrey pondered the name in her heart, looking at the identity badge with the organization's name printed on the front and the goddess' dark holy emblem on the back, with a puzzled expression.

Audrey knew about the existence of the "Night Watchers" of the Church of the Evernight Goddess.

But she didn't know about the Red Gloves organization.

"But I seem to have heard this term before from a conversation between Alfred and his father."

Alfred is the second boy in Earl Hall's family and Audrey's second brother. He serves in the army and is now a colonel.

Thinking this in her heart, Audrey initially believed in Claire's official identity.

In her opinion, even a cultist would not dare to pretend to be the goddess's messenger in Backlund and deceive a noble who believed in the goddess.

Audrey's identity as an official Galadilla staff member made her put aside some of her concerns about danger.

Audrey strengthened her tone and asked:
"Why would Captain Galadilla from the Goddess Church 'take away' the most beloved golden retriever of a devout follower of the Goddess?"

Audrey put emphasis on the word "take away" to show her dissatisfaction with Claire's method.

"A devout believer?" Claire took back her identity badge and said with a playful smile:

"A 'devout believer' who, unbeknownst to some unknown means, became a Beyonder, or a 'devout believer' who is in contact with a dangerous pirate general?"

Claire's calm words stirred up a storm in Audrey's heart.

Ever since joining Mr. Fool's Tarot Club and becoming a "spectator," using her Beyonder abilities to observe the boring, secretive affairs of the aristocrats at various gatherings, young Audrey developed a sense of superiority.

It was as if she had become the heroine in an "adventure fantasy novel" and she was the special one in this world.

But now, many of the secrets she was so proud of were revealed by an official, causing Audrey to feel panic for the first time in the world of Beyonders.

But after the initial panic, Audrey regained her composure and spoke appropriately, "There are many nobles who pursue extraordinary pursuits."

Claire looked directly into Audrey's eyes and said seriously, "Miss Hall, there aren't many noble girls like you who would take the initiative to pursue wanted criminals."

"I... I just happened to hear about a legendary pirate landing in Backlund, and I just wanted to meet this legendary pirate." Audrey disguised herself as a naive aristocratic girl who was influenced by novels.

Claire persisted and continued to ask, "But how did you learn about this pirate's landing?"

Audrey shrugged like a wilted little rabbit and said, "I overheard a conversation between my father and a mysterious guest... Please don't tell my father about this. I already know it was wrong, and I already know the danger."

Looking at Audrey like this, Claire sighed in her heart, the members of the Tarot Club are all born with acting talent...
