Secrets: Priestess

Chapter 66 Embarrassment

Chapter 66 Embarrassment
"Sharon, what are you doing?"

Claire tried her best to keep smiling and asked.

Sharon still showed no sign of hiding it, and just complained:

"I was running around with you in this evening gown, it was so tight and tiring. I just took it off and wanted to loosen it up, and you came in without even closing the door."

"Come here and give me a massage." Sharon raised his arm and said to Claire.

Claire quickly took out the note from her pocket, waved it at Sharon, and changed the subject, "We have a mission. Hurry up and get dressed and come out with me."

"Ah?" Sharon glanced at him suspiciously. "Are you Nighthawks really that hard on your labor? I just signed the contract and I'm already working?"

Claire felt herself calming down. She moved closer, helped Sharon hold up her clothes, and said, "Newcomers usually have a few days off. You're unlucky. I'm very busy right now. And I'm going to get some emergency medicine for you."

"Since you're so busy, why were you able to hang out with Jessica and me outside these past two days?" Sharon said this while taking a breath and shaking her shoulders while zipping up her clothes. This movement made the large white area on her chest sway, making Claire feel a little dizzy.

After finally helping Sharon put on the somewhat complicated dress, Claire said, "After you pick up your things, you can go home and rest."

Sharon said in an exaggerated and pretentious manner, "Oh? I can actually go back? I thought you were going to keep me imprisoned until you caught the attacker."

Claire was speechless for a moment, too tired to pay attention to her.

Seeing that Sharon had packed up, he urged Sharon to go to Chanis Gate together.

"Where is this place?" Sharon asked puzzledly.

"Chaness Gate, the potion we want to collect is stored inside."

Claire knocked on the black iron door with the holy emblem of darkness printed on it.

The door slowly opened.

Through the crack in the door, which was only wide enough for one person to pass through, appeared a guard wearing a classical black robe, holding a lantern, and wearing a hood.

"Mr. Neil?" Claire asked.

The guard took off his hood, revealing a head of white hair. It was Old Neil.

Old Neil looked much older.

But he appeared to be in good spirits. He smiled and said, "Claire is the only one who can recognize me. Last time Leonard came to collect something and didn't recognize me, I played a good trick on him."

Claire also smiled and said, "That's really Mr. Neil's style."

Old Neil led the two inside and continued, "Klein is much smarter and recognized me immediately. Unlike Leonard, who is silly and always thinks he is romantic and handsome."

With a creaking sound, Chanis's door closed again, and the atmosphere inside suddenly became even more desolate and cold.

Sharon leaned towards Claire, looking timid and trembling.

But Claire had already opened her Eye of Prying Eyes. In her eyes, Sharon's emotions were a calm blue.

Pretend...

Claire temporarily gave up on exposing Sharon's "little white rabbit" disguise.

Dragging Sharon, who was holding her arm, she and Old Neil walked further inside.

But seeing that Claire didn't resist, Sharon leaned towards her even more wantonly, almost hugging Claire's arm.

Clinging to the arms of the man she had been thinking about day and night, Sharon felt an uncontrollable heat in her body, especially in the cold and dark environment. She even almost wanted to pull Claire's hand to comfort her.

From Claire's observation, Sharon's emotions were turning towards a warm orange, even with a hint of excited red mixed in.

Sharon's reaction is not right...

Claire frowned, muttering something in her heart. She pulled her arm away from Sharon's embrace slightly and continued to walk inside.

The closer you get to the inside, the denser the invisible threads of sealing power become.

Dense roots of sealing power penetrated their bodies.

Claire could see that Old Neil's movements were slightly stiff when he passed through these "threads".

Extraordinary people on the "Sleepless" path will become more powerful behind the door, but for secret-peekers like Old Neil, it is obviously not that comfortable.

Claire continued to use the Eye of Prying Eyes to carefully observe Sharon's reaction. To her surprise, except for the fact that the color of her emotions had not yet completely returned to the calm blue, Sharon had no other problems.

Is Sharon really just an ordinary person?

Old Neil slowly took Claire's note and looked at it carefully. The dim lantern made the handwriting look pale.

This is deliberately delaying time...

It turns out that the cooperation Dunn mentioned was to let Old Neil delay time so as to observe Sharon's reaction to the power of the seal.

Slowly handing the approval slip back to Claire, Old Neil asked, "Is this the newcomer to the team? Is he a civilian?"

Claire deliberately went into more detail, "This is Sharon. Han'er joined at the same time. They're all new civilians. And they're all actually considered members of the Meazza Family."

Claire also introduced to Sharon: "This is Mr. Neil, a senior in our team. I learned a lot from Mr. Neil at the beginning."

Sharon greeted Old Neil quite politely.
Old Neil smiled and said, "I seem to have heard this name in the newspaper. I remember... Mrs. Sharon, the wife of old Baron Hoy."

Sharon smiled sheepishly. "That was all in the past. The Hoy family has no contact with me anymore. I'm now managing investments for the Meazza family."

"Then why are you working as a clerk in Nighthawk again?"

Most of the people who come to the Night Watch to work as clerks are poor souls who have been caught up in strange incidents. No one in the Night Watch would ask such questions that would tear at someone's wounds.

But Old Neil knew Sharon's situation and deliberately delayed asking.

Sharon then talked about her experience of becoming a civil servant.

This experience took quite a while to talk about.

During this time, Claire was secretly observing Sharon.

Apart from pretending to be a little white rabbit, Sharon's speaking speed, expression, the aura and color of various parts of her body, etc., were all unchanged under the influence of the seal.

After listening to Sharon's story, Old Neil went to the stone gate of medicinal materials to get some of the Nightwatchers' common potions. He then explained in detail the effects and usage of these potions to Sharon. Sharon listened attentively and looked at the potions again and again with curiosity.

None of Sharon's outward manifestations were affected by the power of the seal.

Nodding obscurely to Old Neil, Claire said, "Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Neil. Let's go out now."

Old Neil saw the two off the same way they came.

As the iron gate was about to close, Old Neil smiled at Claire and said, "Thank you, Claire."

Chanis door closed.

"Why should I thank you, Mr. Neil?" Sharon asked curiously, holding the medicine bag in her arms.

Claire laughed and said, "Curiosity kills the cat... Let's go home."

Claire continued, "Go find Han'er and have him set up the carriage. I'll report to the captain and we'll go home together later."

Sharon pretended to be exaggerated and teased, "You want to go back too? Aren't you Nighthawks very busy?"

"I've been working non-stop for two days and nights. It's time to go back and rest." Claire stretched lazily, pretending to be tired.

In fact, it was more than two days. During the two days that she accompanied Sharon and Jessica, Claire basically followed them around during the day and hung outside Sharon's window as a night bat at night.

After returning to the ground and sending Sharon away, Claire turned into the captain's office.

Dunn was having dinner when he saw Claire come in. He wiped off the coffee stains with a soft tissue and asked, "How's it going?"

Claire frowned and sighed, "I didn't find anything unusual."

But she always felt that there was something wrong with Sharon.

After hearing this, Dunn concluded, "The cultists can't escape the detection of the Sealing Power. Since they've been behind the Chanis Gate for so long without any problems, that basically eliminates suspicion."

Seeing that Claire was still worried, Dunn paused and said, "Then you should stay with Sharon and observe for now. I'll call you when there's another mission."

"Perhaps if you follow Sharon, you might even run into the woman in black who attacked the Mechanical Heart."

Claire hesitated, but finally nodded.

In the twilight, a carriage bearing the Meazza family crest sped towards the university district.

Only then did Claire realize that she had diverted Aunt Jessica's partners, her personal coachman, and even the family carriage to the Nighthawks...

I'm afraid Aunt Jessica will get mad...

Thinking about this, Claire suddenly felt a pain in her lower abdomen.

Being seen by the attentive Sharon, "What's wrong with you?"

Claire frowned, feeling as if blood was flowing out. Under Sharon's gaze, her face turned even redder.

Seeing this, Sharon calculated the date in her mind and understood something. After all, that was a body she was familiar with.

This is postponed... Sharon sighed in her heart.

Claire covered her abdomen and bent her body slightly. She had the memory of "Claire" and was not a novice, so she knew about this kind of things.

But she originally thought that after becoming a Beyonder, she would be able to get rid of this worry.

I didn't expect it to be just postponed...

Sharon took out a small bag from the secret compartment at the back of the car, then turned around and handed it to Claire.

Claire would use these kinds of sanitary products, but she wanted to hold on a little longer, at least until she got home.

But many things are not useful just by persistence.

What's more, she was still in the speeding carriage.

"Turn around and close your eyes." Claire said to Sharon through gritted teeth.

Claire originally thought that this woman would just watch her have fun.

Sharon quietly pulled down the curtain inside the car, turned around quietly, and blocked the door for her.

……

After Claire had finished packing and calmed down, Sharon turned around as if nothing had happened and simply said, "Girls, take care of yourselves. Prepare everything you need."

Sharon spoke sincerely, without any sarcasm at this time.

Claire nodded slightly and sighed, "I thought Beyonders didn't have this concern... so they didn't count days."

Sharon chuckled. "You should at least ask your senior Nighthawks about this sort of thing. Oh... I get it, Claire. You're just shy."

Claire said nothing.

Pretended not to hear.

Sharon stopped laughing and said in a rare low and gentle voice: "Take good care of yourself. I'm really worried..."

This gentleness made Claire, who was a little tired at the moment, feel a little dazed.

When she was still Tai, at Tingen University, someone had spoken to her in a similar way.

But those youthful memories were so beautiful that she wanted to forget them now.

But I can’t forget…

"Thank you for your concern." Claire leaned back against the chair, letting the sudden surge of emotions flow back into her heart. "I might be a little tired. Call me when you get home."

Claire closed her eyes. She wasn't actually sleepy, but she just wanted to be quiet.

Sharon next to her curled up slightly, lifted the inner curtain, looked at the increasingly familiar street scene outside the window, and her brown eyes flashed with memories of the past.

For a moment, the carriage fell silent.
