Chapter 71: Secret Prayer

The gray sky gradually became brighter.

There was a familiar voice laughing like a silver bell.

There seemed to be a figure surrounding her.

The world around me also became brighter.

On the green lawn, "Claire" was circling around her in the wind, exuding a youthful aura.

She raised her hand to block out the glare and tried to take "Claire's" hand, but the one who leaned over and extended her hand to hers was transformed into a dark-eyed woman with straight black hair cascading down in front of her.

She wanted to reach out and grab it.

The black-eyed woman instantly turned into Sharon again.

She missed and her hand passed by Sharon.

"Is this a dream?"

Claire, lying on the lawn, shook her head, and Sharon, who was bending over her face, faded away.

I dreamed about that woman? And Sharon?
"It wasn't a good dream..." Claire smiled bitterly and got up from the lawn.

She hadn't slept at night for a long time.

I haven't had a dream in a long time.

"I can even stay awake in my own dreams..." Claire stretched her body and turned to look at the green lawns surrounding Tingen University.

The dream was real, but there was no one there.

Claire just sat there blankly on the green lawn.

She didn't know how much time had passed in the dream, but Claire felt that a spirit was approaching her dream.

Looking up, Dunn, dressed in black, was walking towards me from the edge of the gray dream.

"It seems that Gawain's training was so strenuous that he made you catch up on sleep at night." Dunn walked over and pulled out a chair out of thin air. He sat down on the chair and smiled at Claire.

"It's quite hard, but also quite fulfilling." Claire looked at the chair where Dunn was sitting in amazement. "How did you do that?"

Dunn raised his hand in a gesture of invitation, and a soft chair appeared next to Claire. "It's easy for 'nightmares'. But if you practice more in lucid dreams, you might be able to do it."

Claire stood up from the soft chair and jokingly said, "Captain, are you playing 'Nightmare' again, patrolling the dreams of the good citizens?"

"No, there is a mission." Dunn said solemnly.

"I hope it's the former." Claire sighed. "Well, what happened again?"

"Remember Hainas, the man we tracked down last time?" Dunn started with a question.

"deep impression."

After all, he had seen the evil god directly in that person's dream, so it would be strange if he didn't remember it.

"According to Klein's investigation, it was confirmed that Hainas is a member of the Aurora Society and has an accomplice named Sirius Arepis, who is disguised as a fabric merchant."

The image of a man in his fifties with thinning hair and gray-blue eyes appeared dully beside Dunn.

Hologram? Captain's ability is really convenient.

Feeling emotional again, Claire asked, "So we're going to catch this person now?"

Dunn shook his head, waved his hand to dismiss Sirius, and said, "This man has been killed by Klein in the Deville Library."

"But we found a letter on Sirius addressed to Mr. Z."

"The letter said that the Antigonus family notebook was sold by Sirius and Heinas as an ordinary ancient book. Only after it was sold did they discover that it was an extraordinary item that contained a secret."

"The letter also indicates that there are traitors within the police department who believe in the evil god 'True Creator.'"

"Sirius has already been channeled by Klein, but unfortunately no more useful information was obtained."

"But there are many suspicious points involved in this letter."

"We need to know who Mr. Z is?"

"Where is Sirius's hiding place?"

After opening the window, Claire, carrying a portable material box, fell down from the second floor.

The carriage sped through the night, and Claire soon arrived at the Deville Library, which was sealed off by police officers.

Ordinary police officers set up a cordon outside the library, and only Dunn and Cohen were present in the library.

"Is Klein not here?" Claire asked.

Dunn said, "After training and a near-death battle, Klein looks unwell. I told him to go back and rest."

Without wasting any more time, Claire used the Holy Night Powder to create a spiritual wall.

Using the clean low table she had brought in as an altar, Claire arranged a prayer ceremony for the goddess.
“I pray for the power of the night;”

"I pray for the strength of Scarlet;"

“I pray for the favor of the goddess;”

"I pray that you will lead me to the hideout of the cultists within the altar in Tingen."

"O night-herb, herb of the red moon, please transfer your power to my spell!"

"O Moonflower, herb of the red moon, please transfer your power to my spell!"

The candlelight suddenly became brighter, and Claire's eyes saw Sirius's residence through the thick fog. One was the residence registered with the police station at 19 Halls Street, and the other was a secret room hidden in the North District.

After recovering, Claire pierced through the invisible wall.

"Found it?" Dunn asked in a deep voice.

Seeing Claire nod, Dunn immediately gave the order: "Kennley, get the police officers to help carry the body back. Leonard, you and I will follow Claire."

Leonard drove the carriage again and, under Claire's guidance, headed to the cultists' hideout in the North District.

It was an ordinary-looking single-family house.

But the experienced Dunn found hidden mines made of explosives in the house.

"Have there ever been any cases of these crazy cultists blowing themselves up?" Leonard asked lightly, lowering his voice.

"It's in the Nighthawk report."

After saying that, Claire set up another ritual in the house. Using the power of prayer, she found the secret room inside the house. Unfortunately, Sirius's hiding place was very secret. Except for his accomplice Hainas, no other Aurora Society members had been here.

From the secret room, we found banned books that promoted the true Creator, as well as various sacrificial knowledge and related notes for praying to the true Creator.

"Sequence 9 Secret Prayer." Claire looked at the sequence name in her notes. "Can sense the Lord's presence and master the Lord's sacrificial knowledge..."

Another path to the evil god? Claire wondered in her heart.

This Lord is obviously the "True Creator" that the Aurora Society believes in.

The Nighthawks' internal records describe this path's Sequence 8 as "Listeners." Each Listener can directly hear the whispers of a corresponding hidden entity, often gaining powerful, twisted, and unique abilities. However, if these Listeners fail to advance, they will rarely survive past five years.

Claire felt the same way. If it weren't for the goddess's sacred artifact and the mysterious gray fog, she would have gone mad and died amid the hidden sage's mutterings.

I continued to flip through the notes, and found that they even contained potion recipes.

"Sequence 9 'Apprentice', Sequence 9 'Fortune Teller', Sequence 8 'Clown'."

According to the notes, the formulas for "Fortune Teller" and "Clown" were extracted from the Antigonus family notes. That notebook has evil powers, and different people see different contents.

Leonard smiled and said, "I have Klein's potion formula."

Dunn shook his head and said, "We still need to ask the Holy Temple to confirm the authenticity of the potion formula."

"The next step is to search these letters and notes for traces and clues about Mr. Z and the mole in the police station. Do our best to investigate everyone who has had contact with Sirius."

"People who have had contact with Hainas also need to be re-examined."
