Mystery: When the Fool Meets the Masked Fool
Chapter 57 The disappearing bullet.
Chapter 57 The disappearing bullet.
Klein sat on the edge of the bed, feeling the Beyonder ability he possessed. The bonus from the light cone had actually been activated, but unfortunately, the blessing hadn't been activated.
Then he looked down at his clothes. They had returned to their original black windbreaker. He stretched out his empty left hand, grabbed at the air, and pulled out a pair of monocles.
He walked to the dressing mirror in his room, channeling his spiritual energy and imagining donning the relic suit. The next second, fabric, laced with purple phlogiston flames, emerged from his shoulders, knees, elbows, and other joints, enveloping him and transforming into the "Scholar of the Lost Sea" suit. As the relic took shape, flames gathered on his left chest, resembling a vibrant purple flower.
Klein placed his monocle on his left eye. With a slight thought, a ball of purple phlogiston flame erupted, enveloping Klein's entire head except for the area where the monocle was placed, preventing outsiders from seeing Klein's appearance.
Klein touched his face, his hand passing through the flames easily. The flames burning on his face felt neither warm nor tactile, and didn't even obstruct his vision.
If he hadn't looked in the mirror, Klein would have ignored the flames in his head.
He didn't know why, but he always felt like something was missing.
After a moment's thought, he calmed down the fire in his head, opened the wooden wardrobe, took something off the shelf and put it on his head. He straightened his collar and turned to look in the mirror.
Looking at himself in the mirror, dressed in a white shirt, purple vest, hibiscus purple jacket, black trousers, purple suede boots, an exoskeleton on his right hand, a monocle on his left eye, and a round-top half-high silk hat, Klein smiled with satisfaction.
Well, that's just right.
He turned around and thought that if the tail of his coat was longer, it would be like a tuxedo. Now he looked a bit like a waiter in a fancy restaurant.
With a thought, the hem slowly lengthened. The coat transformed into a tuxedo. Klein raised an eyebrow and came to a conclusion.
It turns out that it’s still a problem of temperament, and has little to do with clothes.
However, he felt that this seemed to look better, so he kept the clothes in their current state.
Then, he let his head be engulfed in phlogiston flames. He saw himself in the mirror, and it looked like a movie he had seen before, Ghost Rider. It was a pity that his head was not a skull, otherwise it would be more similar.
Klein reached out and touched his pockets. Everything he had put in his windbreaker was gone. He then pulled the collar open a little more. The clothing he had originally put in there completely disappeared, not that it was covered.
He tried to reach forward, and the holster containing the revolver appeared in his hand. However, when Klein wanted to make it disappear again, he couldn't.
What a pity, Klein thought he had obtained the space magic weapon commonly seen in novels.
He imagined putting away the relics while mobilizing his spiritual power.
The phlogiston flames on his chest instantly spread throughout his body. Including his monocle and exoskeleton, all his clothing, save for the hat on his head, was gradually reduced to ash in the flames like burning paper. However, Klein's skin was not exposed, revealing only his original clothes.
The ashes drifted away with the wind and dissolved into the air, leaving no trace behind.
Wow, this transformation and untransformation method is so cool. As the saying goes, a man is a young man until he dies. Klein tried it over and over again, admiring his gorgeous transformation in front of the mirror again and again.
Finally, Klein untransformed and sat down on the edge of the bed, as excited as a child.
He opened the curtains and let the sunlight in. He smiled and took out the things from his windbreaker pockets, intending to organize them properly.
Pistols, bullets, spells, Thunder Eye...
Klein's hand suddenly paused.
What about the blue bullet?
Klein searched all his pockets, then rummaged through the bed.
What about the blue bullet?
Klein sat down at the table, took out a pen and paper, and wrote on it.
"The whereabouts of my blue bullet." He didn't know the name of the blue bullet, but it didn't matter, as long as he had a definite direction.
He closed his eyes, used meditation to put himself into a dream, and performed a dream divination. His consciousness sank, and an image emerged before his eyes.
In the empty field, he aimed his pistol at the immobile pawn in front of him that was bound by ice and golden chains.
The bullet was fired.
Klein finished his dream divination and felt incredible about his own divination results.
Unconvinced, he took four steps backwards to the top of the gray fog and tried divination again.
The conclusion is exactly the same as before.
He hit it out himself.
After that, he couldn't divine where the bullet went. Perhaps it was because he didn't have enough information, or perhaps it was because the bullet involved a higher-level being, preventing him from divinely determining where it went.
Klein was more inclined to the latter. He felt that if he hadn't seen the bullet fired from the gun with his own eyes, he wouldn't even be able to divine this moment.
Klein emerged from the gray fog and returned to reality, remaining silent for a moment.
He opened the drawer, and inside was the phone Serris had given him. It only had four apps: a browser that couldn't connect to the internet, a game called "Honkai Impact 3: Star Barrel Railway," a chat app similar to WeChat, and a dial-up app.
Klein opened the dialer app and clicked on the only contact.
…………
Tavern, Ceres' room.
Serris picked up the ringing phone and looked at the note displayed on it: "Black cat with a top hat"
Clicking the connection, he spoke without waiting for the other party to speak: "Is the bullet missing?"
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a moment: "So, why does it disappear in reality after calling out in a dream?"
"Because that's the [Hunting]," Serris explained. "The bullet called 'Reverse Time Strike', no matter when or where it's fired, will ultimately transcend time and distance, transcend illusion and reality, and nail its prey to fate."
Klein asked uncertainly, "So, when will it finally appear?"
"do not know."
"do not know?"
"Yes, I don't know. It depends on when you have enough hatred. If one day, you hate yourself deeply, maybe you will be hit right in the eye." Serris added with a smile.
“Hiss.” Klein gasped. “Don’t set a flag like that! Um, you probably don’t know what a flag is…”
"No, I know for sure. But I just want to see if this flag will succeed."
There was no response from the other end of the phone for a long time. Serris smiled and said, "Anything else? If not, I'll hang up."
"Goodbye... hang up now." Klein's voice sounded a little speechless and a little sinister from the other end of the line.
"Bye." Serris hung up the phone.
PS: I have a very detailed image of Klein's transformation scene in my mind. But I just can't write it. The idea was so cool, but when I saw it, it didn't feel right at all...
