Chapter 566 "The Schemer": Wild Wolf, Surprised? Unexpected?
Chapter 566 "The Schemer": Wild Wolf, Surprised? Unexpected?
The iron-gray warship of the Fifth Dalian, the "Space Wolf," travels through subspace.
The wolf lord's lair remained as dark as ever, with the fire crackling in the hearth.
The wolves, however, were not laughing and joking as usual; they silently drank glass after glass of alcohol.
With a sharp crack, a wolf crushed the large bowl in its hand, and Fenris mead slipped through its fingers.
Osher Wardmaker looked around and spoke to the sullen pack of wolves.
"We still have a chance to win."
Amrodi Skasen Skasenson, the wolf lord, clenched his fists; he too longed to win.
He was willing to pay any price to defend the honor of the alpha wolf, but his record was far behind Sanchez's, and his fifth-largest squad was far inferior to the Seventh Squad of the "Shadow of Order".
He has lost confidence in winning; the gap between him and Sanchez is too large.
[Perhaps the duel proposed by the alpha wolf was merely a ploy to create an opportunity for Wardmaker to obtain evidence of the Shadow of Order's abuse of witchcraft.]
Seeing that no one, not even the Wolf Lord, responded, Wardmaker frowned.
“I’m telling the truth. I was with Sanchez and we encountered worm-men.”
“I feel nauseous when I see that evil creature…” Wardmaker concealed his fear of being oppressed by the evil will, “I’m sure that if Sanchez uses witchcraft on him, he will die.”
"When facing the worm-men, Sanchez did not use fire magic. His battle became increasingly difficult, and each time he relied on his superb traps to make grenades explode inside the worm-men's bodies."
"But as our lines advanced, the wormmen we encountered became stronger and stronger. He had already been wounded in the previous Battle of Tigrun III."
A glint of shrewdness flashed in Wardmaker's eyes. "Our opportunity will come soon."
“When he encounters a more powerful alien, he will definitely unleash his witchcraft with all his might, and I will get the evidence.”
"Now that he is dead, you can take the opportunity to avenge him, win the victory, and reclaim the Ruth Wolf Helmet and the Kraken Sword."
Upon hearing this, Skarsen remained silent for a few seconds before speaking.
"I will act in advance."
“Of course, my Wolf Lord,” Wardmaker replied obsequiously. [Once Sanchez uses witchcraft, he will surely die.]
Void Hunter, bridge.
Sanchez rose leisurely from his commanding seat, the "scheming manipulator" thinking to himself.
The misleading illusion I deliberately created has successfully deceived that cunning old wolf, Wardmaker.
He would never have imagined that my fire control ability did not come from the warp, but was a gift from my Lord.
It's time to close the net.
He walked to the holographic strategy table and gazed at Indra Sur's star map.
Based on comprehensive intelligence, it can be confirmed that the Randan aliens will acquire a large number of corpses and send them to Indra Sur.
There must be Sloan there.
The hazy star field, the northern frontier.
The black and iron-gray warships jumped into the real world and then naturally separated into two areas.
It was as if an invisible barrier in the void separated the two legions.
But both fleets share the same goal: Indra Sur, the Imperial world enslaved by aliens for years.
The warship, adorned with various runes and the emblem of the Fifth Great Alliance, unleashes a wild and furious power.
The lines on the bow of the ship depict roaring wolf heads, emitting dazzling light.
The cannons, forged by a fierce nature, unleash a torrent of flames.
The black fleet moved methodically, and the "hunting spears" and "arrows" thrown by the four relic-class warships pierced through the alien warships full of flails and spikes before they could get close.
The four Relic-class warships, taking full advantage of their range, methodically harvested the warships of Randan.
The Seventh Fleet reached its destination before the furiously advancing Wild Wolves Fleet.
Wardmaker rode the Stormbird, bypassing the area of fire, and took a detour to reach the Void Hunter.
Returning to the sixth level of the middle deck, he sniffed the fading scent of the nest and a smug smile appeared on his face.
The time has finally come.
I will complete the alpha wolf's mission and help the wolf lord win the duel.
Upon setting foot on the surface of Indra Sur, Wardmaker stared in astonishment at the worm-like device in the sergeant's hand.
[Aside from Wizard Boy, the Shadows of Order are quite something; they actually invented this device to track the Wormmen.]
Sanchez always managed to find the Worm Man using it.
But this time, it will be his death.
Wardmaker leaned closer to the technical sergeant and asked curiously in a friendly tone.
"Technical sergeant, your device is really unique. It can even target and search for worm-men."
Can it pinpoint a specific location?
The "archaeologist" looked up, but did not answer immediately, instead turning his gaze to the Reaper Lord.
Sanchez nodded slightly, and then the "archaeologist" spoke.
"The signal strength is very high and it hasn't moved. I believe it's at the seven o'clock position, about six kilometers away."
“It will guide us to victory,” Wardmaker said with a smile.
Victory belongs to the wolves.
Wardmaker boarded the Land Rover, a vehicle that, apart from the "Shadow of Order," was only equipped by a few legions such as the "Iron Hand" and the "Star Hunter," and the Wild Wolves did not have one yet.
Wardmaker pretended to be unfamiliar with the process, fiddling around to create distance between himself and Sanchez before turning on his communicator and contacting the Wolf Lord, who had arrived on orbit, using Fenris's war language.
"Wolf Lord, Sanchez has located the Wormman, and our opportunity has arrived."
“Well done, Wardmaker,” Skarsen said coldly.
Wardmaker slammed on the gas, the engine roared, and he caught up with Sanchez riding a thunder wolf.
He looked down to his left front, his gaze lingering for a moment on the Rus' wolf helmet on Sanchez's face and the blade forged from the Kraken's Fang at his waist.
The "scheming man" instinctively sensed the malicious gaze behind him.
A barely perceptible smile appeared on his face. The conspiracy was about to come to an end. He squeezed his legs tightly around his Thunder Wolf mount.
howl……
Wardmaker jerked the handle to avoid hitting the massive thunder wolf, cursing under his breath.
Your smugness won't last long.
As the thunder wolf leaped, Sanchez drew his twin swords, the spinning blades wreathed in flames as they slashed down.
Wardmaker felt his mind go blank and his body stiffen as he watched with disgust as bursts of crimson fireballs flew out and slammed into the silver-white, spherical-headed monster.
With a loud bang, the brain-eater collapsed.
The communicator crackled with the Wolf Lord's chilling voice: "Woldmaker, I have arrived on the surface and have locked onto your location rune."
“I wish you victory in leading us,” Wardmaker replied, raising his staff topped with a gold and silver eagle emblem.
Fenris runes pulsed, and a chilling hurricane enveloped a dozen or so aliens, tossing them into the air.
The ice blades shot out, tearing the alien's body apart like scraping bone.
Flames and frost intertwine, and mist rises and swirls from the valley.
Suddenly, the rising mist vanished.
The flames and frost came to an abrupt end.
Wardmaker felt the evil will pressing down on him like a mountain, his brain feeling as if it were being hit by a series of blows.
He swayed and nearly fell off the Rand assault boat.
Wardmaker's expression changed slightly. "[This worm-man is too strong; I cannot contend with him.]"
He leaned on his long cane against the black car and looked at Sanchez.
Wardmaker couldn't help but smile when he saw him bracing his elbows against the Thunder Wolf.
The "conspirator" lay on the Thunder Wolf for a second before straightening up.
He calmed his powerful cat through a telepathic link, making it hide to one side, and then quickly got up and leaped off the Thunder Wolf.
The "scheming manipulator" did not want his next move to damage his mount.
Kraken's sword met the necrosis scepter, and "The Schemer's" arm went slightly numb. Using the momentum, he swung his left arm, and Katachon's fangs swept diagonally upwards towards the worm's arm.
Sting, sting, sting!
A clump of maggots, killed by Katachon's venom, fell to the ground.
“A chunk of flesh.” The Destroyer of Sloth retracted his arm and spoke in low Gothic language through his speech device.
His legs suddenly became thinner, the shroud tightened accordingly, and his arms instantly became ten times thicker than before.
"You're quite different from those iron-gray ones; hopefully you'll taste even better."
Wardmaker's face, as pale as wax paper, turned ashen.
His expression softened when he saw Sanchez being forced back step by step, only able to dodge and occasionally retaliate, but unable to threaten the enemy.
The communicator buzzed, and the Wolf Lord's voice rang out, "I've arrived."
Wardmaker looked back and saw the Wolf Lord wielding his great axe, charging through the aliens, less than three hundred meters away.
The "scheming man's" spiritual intuition sensed a fierce aura rapidly approaching. As he "scrambled" to his feet, he managed to peek out and confirmed it was Skarsen.
He also saw the thunder wolves roaring and charging, and the guards rushing in angrily, and knew it was time.
"Conspirators" possess extraordinary abilities to actively mislead, confuse, and deceive.
This is his core ability, but the "schemer" rarely uses it proactively in ordinary times, only using it in subtle ways and at crucial moments.
Normally, "conspirators" rely solely on their intellect to avoid being detected by their targets as having supernatural powers, which would instead expose their schemes.
The "conspirator" manipulated a large burst of flames that surged from his hands, illuminating the dim land.
As Shlos gave a disdainful snort, the "conspirator" abruptly stopped infusing spiritual energy, manipulated the flames to extinguish, and simultaneously swung the Kraken sword to meet the attack.
With a loud bang, the Kraken Sword was knocked down.
Wardmaker stared intently at the battlefield, and as he saw the flames suddenly extinguish, he thought to himself.
[Huh? Sanchez lost before even using his psionic powers?]
Is his psionic power so weak? Or is the worm-man just too strong?
As he was thinking, he suddenly heard a cold roar and saw the Wolf Lord leading four giant wolves charging towards the worm-men.
Wardmaker quickly started the engine. Although he hadn't obtained any evidence, helping the Wolf Lord win was still a gain.
He took out the talisman he had prepared beforehand. Although he dared not use his spiritual power, he could use the talisman. As long as he could buy the Wolf Lord some time, that would be enough.
Skarsen raised his giant axe and charged at the worm-man. He would not allow the alien to defile the Kraken Sword; it belonged to him.
He heard the roar of the engine and saw the rune priest throw out amulets.
woo woo woo...
The cold wind howled, and dense ice blades rained down on the worm-man.
Clumps of worms fell to the ground with a soft rustling sound, the ground frozen as hard as the glaciers of the Assam continent.
Skarsen saw the worm-man's body stiffen, then he gripped the giant axe tightly with both hands, channeling all his strength and will into a downward strike.
For the glory of the Wolf Lord, and to wash away Fenris's shame.
He roared loudly, and the deafening roar echoed.
"For the wolf pack! For the alpha wolf!"
The giant axe swung down with incredible speed, the strong wind causing the shroud to flutter wildly.
When the axe blade was only a fist's distance from the worm-man's body, the worm trembled.
With a whoosh, the worm-man's body was instantly sent flying backward.
The giant axe slammed heavily onto the ground, its violent force crushing a clump of worms stuck to the ground.
"Meat chunks, damn it!" The worm-man's arm snapped back, slamming one of his arms into the iron-gray armor.
The necrotic slime crackled and popped as it tore through the power armor.
Tentacle-like worm arms burrowed into Skarsen's body and gripped a heart.
At the same time, he unleashed his evil will, pressing down on Wardmaker.
Wardmaker staggered and quickly rolled off the Rand assault boat.
Rays of emerald green necrotic rays shot out and struck Wardmaker.
Amidst crackling and popping sounds, the rune priest's amulets shattered one by one.
The power armor was torn apart by the explosive energy, and Wardmaker's body was blown to pieces.
With a series of loud cracking sounds, Wardmaker's left leg was blown apart.
He endured the excruciating pain, raised his arm, and shielded his face.
The golden and silver eagle-headed staff shattered, and the right arm melted away.
Wardmaker fell backward in despair, watching as the four giant wolves were crushed to death one by one by the worm, whose arm reached out towards the wolf lord once more.
[We will all die at the hands of the worm-men, just like Sanchez.]
The thought had barely formed in his mind when he suddenly saw a huge burst of flames leap up and crash down on the worm-man.
Wardmaker stared in disbelief at the black-armored figure that appeared swiftly beside the flames, wielding a sword wreathed in flames as it slashed at the worm-man.
How could this be? How could he still unleash such powerful psionic flames?
The "Conspirator" wielded the "Fire-Infused" blade, slashing down swiftly. He sensed that Shloth had weakened somewhat from the attacks of Wardmaker and Skarsen.
He thrust out his right hand and launched a fireball compressed for seven seconds.
Bang bang bang!
The blazing white "giant fireball" blasted the worms into a flurry of dust, leaving them charred black.
The "scheming mind," enveloped in a fireball, continued its flight, burrowing into the disgusting slime within Shloth's body.
He snapped his fingers.
Rumble!
With a violent explosion, the slime inside Shloth's body was blasted into a cloud of grayish-green smoke.
The worm's body exploded, and charred maggots scattered all over the ground.
Sanchez picked up the Kraken sword and hurled it over the unconscious Skarsen.
"How...can...you...use...fire?" Wardmaker coughed up blood and asked in shock.
“I’ve always had the option to use it, I just didn’t want to before,” Sanchez said “provocatively.”
He smiled to himself, thinking, [Wild wolf, are you surprised? Unexpected?]
"You..." Wardmaker's vision went black, and he fainted from anger.
……
"The Disordered Country", the fourth layer of space.
Ninglu, seated high on his throne, listened to Sanchez's report.
Skarsen was seriously injured.
Wardmaker is disabled and will have to rely on prosthetics in the future.
The fifth battalion created an opportunity for Skarsen, who suffered heavy losses when launching an attack and was forced to retreat from Indra Sur in disarray.
The executors learned a lesson from their treacherous methods, especially that cunning old wolf, Wardmaker.
But Ruth, the mastermind, only lost a cloak.
It still makes me a little annoyed.
Ning Lu thought to himself unwillingly, and remained silent for a moment.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind, and I thought to myself.
[If I could end the Tuckers' decisive battle in 869, I could go and get involved in Durant.]
Once the Durans capture the 13th company of wolves, showcasing the mutation flaws of the Kennis Spiral, it will deter Russ from targeting me again.
I'll ask him for something else as compensation for my apology.
Ninglu's thoughts naturally wandered. [It wasn't just about getting leverage over Ruth; the Duran's unique technology also made the trip worthwhile.]
