Warhammer: Black Emperor

Chapter 574 Herzog: I am Omega

Chapter 574 Herzog: I am Omega

Wearing purple power armor with silver trim and green insignia on his shoulder armor, Machias Herzog led nine of his men into the camp of the 52-strong Gino Regiment.

Herzog looked at the Gino soldiers who bowed to his group; they were neatly dressed and well-equipped.

He recalled information about the Gino 52 Regiment, the oldest and most elite force in the Imperial Army, consisting of a thousand companies.

Its history can even be traced back to the "Unification War" period. It originated from the old warlords of the "Conflict Era" and was preserved by the emperor's grace. It is one of the ancient Hundred Regiments.

While Herzog was pondering, he came to the temporary command tent, signaled the others to be on guard, and went in alone with his head down.

He recognized the commander the moment he saw him.

"Brigadier General Witte."

As the "Great Expedition" expanded, many new institutions were established within the Empire, one of which was the Ministry of Military Affairs.

This emerging organization began to exert influence within the auxiliary military.

Defining military ranks is one of them.

The auxiliary troops, whose ranks were based on command and obedience, mostly accepted their ranks.

"Dear Alpha, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"

“Of course,” Herzog nodded, “Omega.”

“I have the honor of speaking with the Primarch,” Brigadier General Witt exclaimed in surprise. “Greetings, sir.”

After Brigadier General Witt and the other officers saluted, he asked the question.

"My lord, my Thousand Legion is ordered to cooperate with your legion in battle. You have given me your orders."

"My legion has infiltrated the I-20 area and completed reconnaissance, which revealed an alien armed force in the area."

"Set off immediately to attack the alien fortress."

“As you wish, Lord Omega.” Brigadier General Witt bowed and gave the order.

The Gino 52-member troupe demonstrated its rapid response, with the dancers taking the lead twenty minutes later.

Herzog watched the company, which had been established 630 years ago, marching with heads held high and looking quite imposing.

Each soldier is the result of meticulous genetic engineering.
Gino's tight-fitting military uniform had a chainmail outer layer and a leather inner layer.

A waist-length yellow cloak, made of silk from Terra, covered with ornate company insignia and squad badges.

They were equipped with lightweight backpacks, long bayonets, and bullet chains, with double-filled water bottles clattering against liquid nitrogen tanks.

Major Pius popped out of his armored command vehicle, feeling immensely honored to fight alongside Lord Omega.

He looked at the misty mountains and found that he could only see 130 meters away, and his visual limit was only 200 meters.

Pius retreated back into the vehicle and examined the tactical interface, noting a slight but noticeable improvement in the readings.

He looked ahead and saw the gradually opening up mountain range, with cliffs separating four passages.

Pius popped out of the command vehicle. "Lord Omega, what is your order?"

"You should know what to do with your company."

"Tactical reconnaissance, isn't it?"

“Yes,” Pius replied hastily, “sir.”

He immediately returned to the car, marked the location on the tactical interface, selected four squads skilled in reconnaissance, and assigned them reconnaissance missions.

The 25th squad entered Operation Area 4.

Soldiers wearing bright yellow spiked helmets warily held their laser carbines and surveyed their surroundings.

The captain, who was adorned with furs, beads, and other decorations, suddenly heard a scream from his right rear.

"Dodge!"

As he gave the order, he rolled behind a rock.

After scanning the surrounding fog and finding no enemy, he turned to look at the screaming soldiers.

"Somerville, report."

“I…I’ve been poisoned,” Somerville replied in terror.

The soldiers all looked over and saw that one blister after another had burst on Somerville's body.

"Ah!" Another scream rang out, and another soldier dropped his weapon, pulled out his bayonet, and punctured the "blisters" on his body.

He suppressed his fear and picked up his weapon.

"I'm fine..."

His voice abruptly stopped, and as the tumor on his forehead burst, his body crashed to the ground.

The captain, who had served for seventy years, had never seen such a bizarre scene.

Can viruses be transmitted through the air?
He guessed, unable to be sure what had happened, but it was definitely because of the aliens.

As he was thinking, he suddenly saw a silver-white figure emerge from the mist.

"Fire!"

Seven laser beams precisely struck the silvery-white outline.

The gunner then raised his individual rocket launcher, and the missile, trailing a glow, shot towards the exposed round head.

sizzle...

boom!
The alien continued forward, raising its bent arm and sending a gust of wind through the canyon.

A soldier, out of control, spins and flies toward the brain-eater.

The brain-eater reached out with its bent arm to the soldier, scooped out a clump of food, and stuffed it into its mucus-filled mouth.

"retreat!"

The captain got up from the ground, his beaded necklace scattered all over the floor, and the black seams on his round, orange-red hemispherical goggles had cracked into fist-width gaps.

He ripped off his goggles, raised the laser carbine, and frantically pulled the trigger to hide his fear.

The squad began their desperate escape, with one soldier after another letting out a bloodcurdling scream.

Hearing the desperate cries coming from afar, Pius didn't get out of the command vehicle again, but instead turned on the communicator.

"Lord Omega, what lies ahead?"

“Alien.” The brief answer failed to provide Pius with any useful information, just as he was about to ask another question.

"Major, establish defenses."

Pius put down the communicator and immediately directed the dancers' company to reinforce their defenses.

The soldiers carrying demolition charges immediately found cover at the canyon entrance. The muzzles of the support mortars were aimed at the four entrances.

"Major, only seven men have returned."

Upon hearing his adjutant's words, Pius shouted, "Report! I have a report!"

"Okay, sir."

The adjutant replied after a moment, "They're acting like madmen; I'm not getting accurate reports."

"They mentioned eating brains and deadly poisons."

"Fire!"

"Open fire! Blast those damn aliens to smithereens!"

Pius roared, suppressing the thoughts that involuntarily rose in his mind.

[They are Lord Omega's bait.]
If even the Emperor's Angels of Death use them as bait, then the enemy must be powerful and evil.

His company was in dire straits.

Pius saw the rapidly rising red data on the tactical interface, opened the communicator, and requested reinforcements from other companies.

The whistling rockets hurtled towards the alien.

The Gino soldiers, carrying demolition charges, shouted, "For Gino! For Terra! For the Emperor!"

Boom boom boom!
The sound of the explosion echoed through the mountains, and sand and stones fell like raindrops.

Four tall, white figures emerged from the rocks.

With a swing of the crystal longsword, Gino's demolition expert was cleaved into a cloud of blood mist.

With a bent arm, he pulled out another soldier's brain and stuffed it with a red thread.

As Gino soldiers continued to die painfully from the neurotoxin, the soldiers remained calm. They raised their laser carbines and unleashed a barrage of bullets.

The hiss of the blaster drowned out all other sounds, and the Gino soldiers roared with excitement.

Fighting alongside the Emperor's Angel of Death will surely defeat the evil aliens.

The first soldier to empty his energy magazine glanced at the battlefield as he skillfully changed his magazine.

His eyes were filled with fear, and not a single silver-white alien fell.

The explosive projectiles fired by the Angel of Death seemed to hit an invisible wall and shatter before they could reach their targets.

More and more soldiers in the dancer company discovered this fact.

The aliens weaved through the terrifying silver figures and charged toward their lines.

Meanwhile, one soldier after another fell.

Despair spread among the soldiers, who fired numbly and changed magazines.

Beyond the curtain, in the decaying garden.

He watched with amusement as the wonderful spectacle of neurotoxins permeated the air.

Skin rash, ulcers, suppuration, rotting, cough, dizziness, mad cow disease, explosive diarrhea...

He laughed heartily.

The little guy, bouncing and laughing all around, was tossed about in the garden by the sound of laughter.

He shifted his gaze from one place to another, for the five brain-eaters would bring him even greater pleasure.

Oliver, the company commander of the 1st Company of the 4th Regiment of the Order of Shadows, led his Order of Shadows, whose shoulders were painted with green skulls, through the Misty Valley.

In his vision, five deathly gray-white and terrifying scarlet hues suddenly leaped about.

"alert!"

Oliver stopped and looked ahead.

Five silver-white figures emerged from the mist, and he immediately recognized them as the Brain Eaters.

"Worm Spell!"

He and four "gravediggers" immediately pulled out black talismans.

As spiritual energy was infused, the worm pattern on it emitted an evil will that made them uncomfortable.

The five men hurled their talismans with all their might, shouting in Dunn's tongue, "Worm!"

The spinning black metal hurtled toward the brain-eaters, who nervously raised their arms.

Flames erupted and lightning surged.

The next instant, they both screamed in pain, their bodies weak and powerless, and they crashed to the ground.

Outside the curtain, the laughter in the garden abruptly ceased.

"Boring."

He stepped to a large pot of soup that was bubbling with broth, picked up a ladle and stirred it.

Pius didn't wake up until a standard month later.

The toxins took away his arm forever. The doctor told him that his arm was ulcerated and full of maggots, and he had to have it amputated.

What saddened him even more was that his company was down to only seven men.

The other Kino units also had 41,000 men buried in that valley.

Finally, Lord Omega found a way to kill the alien by stabbing it with a power spear.

Pius took a flask from his tent and staggered out of the camp.

He sat on the hillside, gazing into the valley of death.

As he took his third sip of wine, a familiar voice rang out from behind him.

“Pierre”.

Pius stood up and looked at the giant in astonishment.

"Lord Omega".

"Would you be willing to become my agent?" Herzog looked at the bearded, disheveled Pius. "In a new capacity, I will serve the Emperor."

Time ticked by, and Pius gripped the flask tightly, remembering the medic's words of comfort: four Alphas had fallen.

"I am willing to serve you, sir."

Pius got a tattoo of the three-headed hydra, and thus acquired his code name – Lena 222.
