Chapter 247 What Harry Fears?
As expected, Dumbledore turned his gaze to Harry and reminded him:

“Harry, I heard you killed a Dementor on the train. I hope you can spare these Hogwarts people; they are important assets of the Ministry of Magic.”

Harry nodded helplessly and replied:
"Don't worry, Headmaster Dumbledore, as long as they don't mess with me."

The young wizards looked at Harry with surprise. Seamus nudged Ron and asked:

"Ron, really? Harry actually killed a Dementor?"

Ron nodded proudly, "Otherwise, how could it be fake? Killing a Dementor is a piece of cake for Harry!"

Many young wizards stared at Harry in amazement, especially the older ones, whose surprise was even more pronounced. Even the professor was no exception.

Compared to the clueless first-year wizards, they understood better the significance of Harry killing the Dementors.

As a special kind of dark magical creature, Dementors do not have a true life or physical body, and usually feed on human happiness, emotions and souls.

The Patronus Charm is the only known effective way to banish Dementors; even the common Killing Charm has no effect on them.

Unless it's a killing spell used by a top wizard, whose powerful magic can cause enough impact and damage to the spirit of a Dementor, it can also cause some harm or even eliminate it.

Therefore, ordinary wizards, apart from banishing Dementors, are completely powerless against these strange magical creatures, let alone kill them.

Everyone is now incredibly curious about how Harry killed the Dementors and whether this method could be popularized.

Regardless of the method, it demonstrates that Harry's abilities are already at the pinnacle of the wizarding world.

If Harry killed the Dementors using the Killing Charm, it would mean he had reached the level of a top-tier wizard. If it was done by other methods, that would be even more astonishing, as it would mean Harry had created a spell that could work against Dementors!

If this magic could be taught on a large scale, it would likely be an invention comparable to the potion of life.

Having received Harry's answer, Dumbledore nodded and continued:

"Let's change to a more pleasant topic. I'm delighted to welcome two new teachers to our team this semester."

First, Professor Lupin readily agreed to fill the vacancy in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

A few cold, sparse claps rang out in the auditorium.

While the other teachers were all wearing their best robes, Professor Lupin looked even more shabby sitting next to them.

This made them disrespect Professor Lu Ping; a capable professor wouldn't live in such a sorry state.

“Look at Snape!” Ron whispered in Harry’s ear.

Professor Snape, the Potions teacher, was staring at Professor Lupin across the classroom table.

Everyone knew that Snape had always wanted the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor, but even Ron, who always disliked Snape, was surprised to see the twitching expression on Snape's sallow, thin face.

That expression wasn't just anger, it was pure hatred.

Harry could probably guess why. Since Lupin was his father's son, he must have bullied Snape when they were in school.

Therefore, it's normal for Snape to hate Lupin.

"As for our second new teacher," Dumbledore continued after the sparse applause that had greeted Professor Lupin had subsided:

"I regret to inform you that our Conservation of Magical Creatures teacher, Professor Kettleburn, retired at the end of last semester so that he could have more time to enjoy his old age."

However, I am pleased to announce that the person who will be filling his position is none other than Rupert Hagrid, who has agreed to accept this teaching position in addition to his duties as a gamekeeper.”

Everyone clapped excitedly, much louder than when Lu Ping did.

Hagrid was a good man, and was loved by all the young wizards except for Slytherin. Of course, the young wizards of Gryffindor liked Hagrid the most, and their applause was the loudest.

……

Time flies, and several days have passed in the blink of an eye.

That day, Harry, Hermione, and Ron went to the Divination classroom.

This was their first divination lesson.

The divination classroom is quite unique; in fact, it doesn't look like a classroom at all, but rather a mix of an attic and an old-fashioned teahouse.

The classroom was crammed with at least twenty small round tables, with printed fabric armchairs and bulging little cushions around them.

Everything in the room was bathed in a hazy red light, the curtains were drawn tightly, and many lamps were covered with large, deep red scarves.

It was unbearably hot inside. Beneath the crammed fireplace mantel, a fire blazed fiercely, and a large copper teapot sat atop it, emitting a strong, nauseating aroma.

Harry was greatly disappointed by the content of the Divination class. Professor Trelawney, the professor, did not know how to divine at all. At most, she used some ancient rituals and chaos magic to predict the future in a rather inaccurate way.

If the magical energy level in the wizarding world weren't so high, none of her divination methods would be effective.

This method of divination was completely different from what Harry had learned at Kamar-Taj, until finally he could no longer bear it and sighed:
“Professor Trelawney, besides the divination methods you taught, I once read about a kind of magic that uses runes to predict the future in an ancient magic book!”

Professor Trelawney looked at Harry with a puzzled expression. She knew this young wizard, the chosen one she had prophesied, the savior of the wizarding world.

That was one of her few prophecies that came true.

But apart from these few prophecies, none of her other prophecies came true. No matter how hard she tried and how much she learned about divination, she could not make effective and accurate prophecies.

Therefore, even though she was Cassandra Trelawney's great-great-granddaughter, she was somewhat skeptical of the existence of divination.

Even if it exists, divination is an extremely profound discipline, and it has probably been lost to history like ancient magic.

So when Harry said he also understood languages, she was taken aback and asked with some doubt:
“Runic prophecy? I remember it was a complex and ancient form of divination, but it seems to have been lost a thousand years ago.”

"Mr. Potter, are you sure you possess genuine runic divination?"

Harry nodded. "Of course, I've tried it, and the predictions were very accurate."

Just kidding, you think he's bragging? Kamar-Taj's divination involves time magic, just like how he and the Sorcerer Supreme can even observe different timelines through divination.

Harry used his Chaos Magic to create a spellbook containing runic divination in the Pocket Dimension and gave it to Professor Trelawney.

Professor Trelawney initially didn't think much of it, but after reading the contents of the magic book, her expression changed drastically, and she became completely engrossed in reading its contents:

"It's unbelievable that fate, time, and cause and effect can be intertwined and used to observe the future through the web woven together by the three."

This is true prophecy!

Professor Trelawney looked at Harry with excitement and gratitude, saying:
"Thank you, thank you, Mr. Potter. This book is really important to me!"

The young wizards all curiously examined the spellbook in Professor Trelawney's hands, wondering why she was so excited. However, Professor Trelawney quickly revealed the contents of the spellbook to the young wizards, her previously eccentric demeanor instantly turning serious as she said with a solemn expression:

"It seems we need to change the content of this lesson. Next time, we'll practice rune divination!"

Harry: "..."

Good grief, they can't even be bothered to waste this little bit of time?
Professor Trelawney, you really know how to use class time to learn runic divination.

Next, the third-year Gryffindor wizards took a class on the protection of magical creatures, and Harry even tamed a hippogriff, enjoying the experience of flying on it.

On this day, Harry and his friends had their first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the new term.

When they rushed to Professor Lupin's first Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Professor Lupin had not yet arrived.

They sat down, took out their textbooks, quills, and parchment, and were talking to each other when Professor Lupin finally entered the classroom.

He smiled faintly and placed the tattered old box on the podium.

Professor Lu Ping was still dressed in rags, but he looked much healthier than he had on the train, probably because he had eaten a few good meals.

Professor Lupin was clearly much more reliable than the previous two Defense Against the Dark Arts professors. He smiled and said to the group of young wizards:
"Good afternoon. Please put your textbooks back in your bags. Today's lesson is a practical lesson. All you need to do is wave your magic wands."

The students put their textbooks away and exchanged curious glances.

They had never had a practical lesson in Defense Against the Dark Arts before, except for that memorable lesson last year.

In that class, the previous teacher brought a cage of elves into the classroom and released them all.

Oh my god, that was a nightmare!
"Alright, it seems everyone is ready. Please follow me..."

Lupin led the group out of the classroom, through the empty corridor, and into a teacher's office.

The faculty lounge is a long room with wooden panels on all four walls and piles of mismatched old chairs.

There was only one teacher in the room. Professor Snape sat in a low armchair.

As the students filed into the room, he turned around, his eyes gleaming, and a mocking sneer appeared on his lips.

As Professor Lupin entered and was about to close the door behind him, Snape said:

"Don't close the door, Lupin, I'd better leave."

He stood up and strode past his classmates, his long black robe billowing behind him.

As he walked outside, he turned back and said, “Perhaps no one has reminded you yet, Lupin, but there’s a Neville Longbottom in this class.”

I suggest you don't entrust him with any complicated tasks.

Unless Miss Granger secretly tells him what to do.

Neville's face turned bright red.

Professor Lupin raised his eyebrows: "I was hoping Neville would help me with the first step of the teaching, and I was confident he would do an excellent job."

Neville's face turned even redder.

Snape's lips twitched, but he left anyway, slamming the door shut.

"Alright," Professor Lu Ping said, "everyone, follow me."

Lupin led everyone to the other end of the room, where an old wardrobe was placed, containing the teachers' spare robes.

Professor Lu Ping walked over and stood next to the wardrobe. Suddenly, the wardrobe shook and slammed against the wall with a thud.

Many of the young wizards were frightened, unsure of what lay hidden within.

Lupin reassured him, "Don't be afraid, there's just a Boggart inside."

The young wizards retreated, feeling even more frightened now.

Boggarts are a special kind of magical creature.

They have no fixed shape and become the things that observers fear most.

They typically live in dark, secluded places, such as closets, cellars, or forgotten rooms.

They feed on fear and exploit people's inner fears to make themselves stronger.

"Don't worry, everyone. Boggart is nothing to be afraid of. We only need a simple spell to deal with it."

Professor Lupin took out his magic wand, "Everyone, repeat after me—funny funny!"

After all the young wizards repeated the words together, Professor Lupin nodded and smiled, saying:
“Very good, now you have the ability to fight against the Boggarts. Come on, let Neville demonstrate for us.”

"Navie, tell me the most important thing first: what are you most afraid of in this world?"

Neville looked around in a panic, as if pleading for help.

Then, in a voice so low it was almost inaudible, he said, "Professor Snape."

Almost everyone laughed, even Neville grinned sheepishly, while Professor Lupin looked thoughtful.

“Neville, don’t be afraid. I remember you lived with your grandmother. Now imagine what your grandmother looks like in your mind. When Boggart rushes out of the closet, transform it into your grandmother’s appearance!”

Everyone made room for Neville, and when Boggart rushed out, he indeed transformed into Professor Snape.

Neville successfully overcame his fear and transformed Snape into a comical figure dressed as an old woman.

After succeeding, Neville breathed a heavy sigh of relief. For some reason, he was no longer so afraid of Professor Snape.

Because every time he saw Professor Snape, he would picture Snape wearing his grandmother's clothes.

After Neville finished his demonstration, many young wizards came forward and, under Professor Lupin's guidance, overcame their fears.

It must be said that Professor Lupin is a truly qualified professor. He has Professor McGonagall's rigor, Dumbledore's gentleness, and a touch of humor, making him practically perfect. Even Harry likes him very much.

Soon, after all the young wizards had gone, it was Harry's turn.

Harry stepped forward, and Professor Lupin paused for a moment, concluding that Harry's fear should be directed at Voldemort.

But to his surprise, the object of Harry's fear was far beyond his imagination!
