Harry doesn't want to be a wizard, he wants to be a superhero
Chapter 272 Kaecilius and Strange's First Meeting
Chapter 272 Kaecilius and Strange's First Meeting
Although Mordo was still uneasy, he had no reason to continue arguing.
After all, Harry could easily break through all his worries, whether it was a war in the multiverse or a paradoxical timeline, none of them were problems for Harry in his out-of-control state.
However, Mordo soon realized a new problem. Although the timeline was no longer an issue, a more serious problem had arisen: Harry had to enter a state of out-of-control to resolve the timeline paradox. If Harry entered a spacetime state, he would become the biggest trouble in the multiverse!
“Of course, Mordo, you can also study with Strange. I think you also have a good talent for time magic.” Suddenly, Harry said to Mordo with a smile.
Mordo's expression hardened, and he put the problem he had just discovered out of his mind, nodding emphatically:
"Supreme Master, I think you are absolutely right. With you here, we really don't need to worry about the timeline!"
Strange, who witnessed Mordo's change in attitude from the sidelines: "..."
Master Modu, your image in my heart has completely collapsed!
……
Several months have passed since Strange, Mordo, and even Wong began learning time magic together.
That day, Harry led Strange to a secluded chamber, his expression changing from his usual relaxed demeanor to a serious one.
Strange also realized that something important was about to happen, so he remained silent and waited for the Sorcerer Supreme to speak.
Upon reaching the Chamber of Secrets, Harry snapped his fingers lightly, and as if the world had turned upside down, the walls of the Chamber were instantly replaced by an endless dark space. In front of Harry and Strange, a blue sphere floated in the dark space.
Strange recognized at a glance that this was definitely Earth!
After doing all this, Harry sat down in his chair and gave Mordo a look. Mordo immediately understood and said to Strange:
"Strange, do you know what Kamar-Taj's responsibilities are?"
Strange clenched his fists and looked up to meet Mordo's unusually serious expression.
He pondered for a moment, then answered uncertainly, "Fighting against the forces of darkness? That's how it's always portrayed in movies."
Mordo shook his head. "That's not accurate!"
He slid his hands slightly, and a dense matrix of runes appeared on the Earth projection in front of him. It was the Trinity Guardian Array that had been continuously improved by the Sorcerers Supreme throughout the ages.
Mordo's deep, resonant voice echoed in Strange's ears:
"Do you see those magic arrays? Those are the Trinity Protection Arrays, which are also a solid barrier protecting the Earth."
Kamar-Taj's responsibility is not so simple. Our responsibility is not just to fight against evil forces, but to protect the Earth and the human world from the dark forces emanating from the multiverse.
"Dark forces?" Strange asked, puzzled.
Mordo nodded and explained to Strange:
"That's right, such as evil dimensional demons, abyssal demons, and other extradimensional creatures, magical entities, and the like."
"Wait, you mean we need to fight the gods?!" Strange was utterly terrified.
Mordo comforted him, saying:
"Don't worry too much. We don't need to deal with such an extremely powerful energy entity as the Dimensional Demon God. That's the responsibility of the Sorcerer Supreme."
Our goal is merely to invade some low-level demons on Earth; you can easily defeat most of them now.
At this point, Mordo, with a look of reminiscence on his face, smiled and said:
“A few years ago, Mage Potter also went to hunt low-level demons, but he wasn’t as powerful back then as he is now.”
Strange's eyes lit up, and he asked expectantly:
"How does the Mage Potter of that time compare to me now?"
If Master Potter can grow to the point where he can become the Sorcerer Supreme within a few years, then doesn't that mean I can too?
After all, the Wizard Potter himself had admitted that he was the best among all of them!
Unlike Strange, whose face was full of anticipation, Mordo suddenly fell silent.
His current task is to spark Strange's interest and help him gradually grow into the next Sorcerer Supreme, but the answers Strange asks for do not achieve this effect and only discourage Strange.
Although you are the best of everyone, that doesn't include Harry!
Mordo glanced at Harry without saying a word, his eyes asking for his answer.
Harry sent a message to Mordo directly, and after receiving the reply, Mordo smiled brightly:
“Harry wasn’t as strong as you are now, Strange. We all know you’re the best among us, aren’t you?”
Strange, completely oblivious to anything amiss, believed Mordo's words wholeheartedly, and exclaimed excitedly:
"Indeed, geniuses excel everywhere. Perhaps I too can become the Sorcerer Supreme in the future!"
Seeing that Strange had indeed developed the desire to become the Sorcerer Supreme, Harry patted him on the shoulder and encouraged him:
"Keep it up, Strange! I'm in no condition to serve as the Sorcerer Supreme for much longer. The next Sorcerer Supreme will have to wait for you!"
Strange was taken aback and asked, "Why? You're still so young."
Harry shook his head, looking distressed, and said:
"My condition has been poor; the magic within me can easily spiral out of control..."
This was the first time Strange had heard of this. He had always had a good impression of Harry, so he asked with concern:
"What would happen if it got out of control? Would you die?"
Harry nodded. "Yes, you can die."
Strange: "That's pitiful. Don't worry, Harry, I'll grow up quickly, and then you can retire!"
Modu and Wang, who had just arrived, exchanged glances and both noticed that the other's lips were twitching.
Not a buddy?
Why are you comforting Harry?
If he loses control, people will indeed die.
But the people who died weren't Harry, they were!
Following this, Wong and Mordo explained Strange's responsibilities at Kamar-Taj. After learning that he was even better than the current Sorcerer Supreme, Strange's interest in magic increased dramatically, and he decided to become the new Sorcerer Supreme!
Harry, who witnessed all this, nodded slightly, and then focused some of his attention on the New York Sanctum. Sure enough, Kaecilius made the New York Sanctum his primary target!
Next, Harry closed his eyes and focused most of his attention on the New York Sanctum. He needed to secretly rescue all the wizards and stage their deaths so that Kaecilius would continue his act.
After all, if he knew that his efforts were just a stage script set up by Harry, he would definitely quit without even thinking about it.
Several tens of minutes later, the vast majority of the New York Sanctum’s defenses were destroyed by Kaecilius. It was at this moment that Harry suddenly opened his eyes. Time was up!
Harry had just opened his eyes and regained his senses when the door connecting to the New York Sanctum Sanctum suddenly burst open!
The moment the door shattered, a powerful impact "coincidentally" struck Strange.
He felt as if his body had been struck hard by an invisible giant hammer, his breath caught in his throat, and he was thrown away like a kite with a broken string.
His body tumbled uncontrollably in the air, the world before him spun around him, and the air around him was compressed by a powerful force, making a sharp whistling sound that made his head buzz.
Boom!
He finally stopped, his back slamming against a wall. The hard bricks hurt his spine, and a metallic taste rose in his throat.
When he struggled to his feet, the surrounding environment was no longer a secret room in the floating city, but a spacious hall.
Although this hall is not as luxurious as the temple in the floating city, it is still quite extravagant and full of mystery.
There is no doubt that this building is still related to Kamar-Taj.
Strange scanned the surrounding buildings and slowly walked towards the front door. A few minutes later, he entered a room filled with numerous magical artifacts.
His gaze was drawn to the rows of bookshelves and the rare treasures on display, and finally settled on a red cloak that floated quietly on a stone platform.
The cloak appeared to be made of some kind of soft yet tough strange fabric, with fine golden runes embroidered along the edges. The runes shimmered slightly, as if whispering ancient incantations.
Strange took a few steps closer, and the cloak seemed to sense his presence, trembling slightly and making a soft rustling sound, as if welcoming his arrival.
Inside the secret chamber of the floating city, the broken room had long been restored to its original state by a restoration spell.
When Strange met with the Cloak of Levitation, Mordo asked:
“Harry, are you sure Strange will be chosen by the Cloak of Levitation? If he isn’t chosen, he definitely won’t be able to escape from Kaecilius on his own, and we might need to help him.”
Harry chuckled and said, "Don't worry, the only criterion the Levitation Cloak uses to choose its owner is magical aptitude. Although Strange's aptitude is not as good as mine, he will definitely be chosen by the Levitation Cloak."
Looking at the projected image of the New York Sanctuary, sure enough, just as Strange's fingertips were about to touch the cloak, the cloak suddenly flew up as if it were alive, spinning rapidly in the air and creating a whooshing sound.
Strange instinctively took a step back, watching the bizarre scene warily.
The cloak circled him a few times before rushing straight at him. Strange instinctively raised his arm to shield himself, but the cloak gently landed on his shoulder, like a long-lost friend affectionately nuzzling his neck.
Strange's eyes widened in surprise. He tried to gently shake his shoulders, and the cloak swayed, but showed no sign of slipping off.
He tried to raise his hand to pull it, but the cloak clung tightly to his body, as if it had become one with him.
Mordo looked on with envy at everything before him; clearly, the Cloak of Levitation had already acknowledged Strange.
The flight cloak is a powerful magical item that provides the user with strong defense and the ability to fly.
It's safe to say that with the Levitation Cloak, Strange's strength will increase by at least 50%!
After obtaining the Cloak of Levitation, Strange was visibly excited, but he clearly remembered the explosion and knew there might be danger around him. So, after exploring some of the cloak's functions, he continued to explore the New York Sanctum.
Soon, he arrived at a peculiar room containing dozens of different doors.
The scenery behind the doors in this room varies; some are an endless ocean, some are an ancient forest, and some are a desolate desert.
Since Harry simplified the technology of solidifying portals, the cost has been greatly reduced, so Kamar-Taj has set up a large number of portals leading to all corners of the earth, including some to other planets and even other dimensions.
After curiously examining the doors, Strange continued his careful exploration. Suddenly, he heard a series of screams, so he cautiously explored in that direction.
Soon, he arrived at the hall of the New York Sanctuary, which had become a living hell!
Two groups of mages from different factions clashed in the hall. One side consisted of Kamar-Taj mages dressed in tight-fitting mage robes, while the other side, Strange, knew that they were traitors to Kamar-Taj, servants of the Dark Dimension led by Kaecilius!
When Strange arrived, the last Kamar-Taj mage had also been killed by the traitor. Strange stared intently at the traitor who had killed the last mage, observing his appearance as he silently retreated.
The traitor was tall and thin with a bony frame. His shoulder blades protruded like raven wings under his black robe, and there was a strange, rhythmic feeling of misaligned bones when he walked.
Beneath his pale skin, veins bulged, especially when he cast spells; those veins would then display purplish-black runes, writhing like living things on his neck and the backs of his hands.
His eye sockets were visibly sunken due to his immersion in dark magic, the whites of his eyes were covered with spiderweb-like blood vessels, and his pupils were eternally deep purple swirls, making him look extremely evil.
Strange recalled what Mordo had told him about the Traitors, and without a doubt, he was Kaecilius, the leader of the Traitors!
With Casillas's senses, he naturally spotted Strange immediately. He looked up at Strange standing atop the steps, observed him briefly, and then smiled:
"An unfamiliar face. I wonder how long you've been in Kamar-Taj?"
Strange's fingertips unconsciously rubbed the Eye of Agamotto in his pocket. He knew that if he wanted to escape successfully, he could only rely on the Eye of Agamotto to enhance his magic and use the Cloak of Flight to escape.
Otherwise, he would very likely have been brutally killed by Casillas.
Upon hearing Casillas' question, Strange didn't answer but instead asked a question in return:
"Damn bastard, why did you kill them?!"
Casillas's face was contorted with rage, the purple and blue veins on his cheeks bulging as he sneered:
"Kill them? No, I'm saving them! I'm redeeming their souls, allowing them to enter the Dark Dimension!"
They cling to outdated rules, using so-called justice to imprison the power of magic, creating numerous useless rules—that is true evil!
Dormammu's power can bring eternity, in which there is no boundary between life and death, no disease or suffering—this is true compassion!
