Chapter 100 Burning for Yourself

July 15th is known as the Zhongyuan Festival in Taoism and the Yulanpen Festival in Buddhism. Starting from the time of Emperor Wu of Liang, emperors of all dynasties would hold grand ceremonies on this day, and it gradually evolved into a major festival, with various activities held by the people across the country.

I just told Chenxiang the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl on the Qixi Festival on July 7th, and then a few days later it was July 15th. On the roadside, I told Chenxiang the story of "Mulian Saves His Mother" on the Ullambana Festival.

"Maudgalyayana was one of the Buddha's ten great disciples. He discovered his deceased mother suffering in the realm of hungry ghosts. Deeply moved by filial piety, he used his supernatural powers to deliver food to his mother, but the food turned to charcoal in his mother's mouth, leaving her in utter agony. Worried and anxious, he pleaded with the Buddha for a solution. The Buddha told him that his mother's sins were profound and that only the power of the great monks from all directions could save her. So, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, he set out a basin to offer alms to the monks. Together with the great monks, he saved his mother from the suffering of the hungry ghost realm. He also saved countless beings who suffered the same fate as his mother."

The story was told while burning paper money on the roadside.

Chenxiang also wanted to burn some paper money, but was driven aside by the roadside.

"What are you burning?"

"If you want to burn it for your father, you must also know your father's name. Seal the name and name together and burn it so that your father can enjoy it." Lu Bian said to Chenxiang.

"It's not that we don't allow you to burn it, but it's easy for something to happen if you do." He looked at Chenxiang's expression on the roadside and added.

"Uncle, who are you burning it for?" Chenxiang asked.

"Burn it for myself." Lubian replied.

"When I die, I'll have money to spend in the afterlife. I won't need to bother others to burn it for me."

Even before the Yulan Festival arrives, many families have already begun preparing. Not only does Dali hold official events, but the Central Plains region also has even more grand events.

Nezha and his sister Li Zhenying also experienced the grand event of the Ullambana Festival in the capital of Tokyo, the Song Dynasty.

Preparations began in the afternoon of the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. Hundreds of plates of various sacrificial offerings and fruits were placed on the altar. Hundreds of pigs were slaughtered, and rice and grain piled up like mountains of fish and meat, creating an extravagant spectacle. Monks and Taoists performed rituals and chanted sutras on the altar, guiding wandering souls back to the netherworld. After the general salvation ceremony was completed, the offerings were freely available to the public.

Rich families provided food for monks, and temples held sutra chanting ceremonies and water and land rituals.

At night, people release river lanterns by the water. The lights are cut and folded into white lotus flowers and float down the water. In some places, people light sky lanterns to let them illuminate the way for the dead souls to return to the underworld.

On this day, people have a great time, and ghosts have a great time too.

Nezha and his sister Li Zhenying can see both humans and ghosts. Nezha didn't feel much, but this was a huge shock to Li Zhenying, who was on earth for the first time.

People and ghosts rub shoulders with each other without anyone noticing.

After the festival, Nezha saw that Li Zhenying was a little tired from playing, so he thought about returning to heaven.

"Brother, didn't you say you would bring me here to find Chenxiang? We haven't found him yet."

"Sister, let's look for it next time."

"They have something important to do at home right now, so it's inconvenient for us to disturb them."

"Ok."

"Then next time."

Nezha carried his sister on his back and flew towards the South Heaven Gate.

Nezha did not investigate the matter between Erlang Shen and San Sheng Mu clearly. It was not because he did not want to find out, but because he chose not to investigate it on his own initiative.

His intuition told him that if he investigated further, he would get into trouble.

Erlang Shen will cause trouble for him.

Not wanting to conflict with Erlang Zhenjun, Nezha chose to avoid him.

After secretly descending to the mortal world for more than a month, Nezha returned to heaven without being noticed by Li Tianwang. Nezha released his external body skills and instructed his sister not to tell anyone that they had secretly descended to the mortal world.

"Brother, when are we going to play again?"

"When my father is busy." Nezha replied.

"When will Dad be busy?"

"I gonna go see."

Nezha left the Yunlou Palace, ready to assign some tasks to Li Tianwang to keep him busy.

"Nezha."

"Ok?"

Nezha turned around and saw that it was Erlang Shen who was calling him.

He stopped and Erlang Zhenjun walked towards him.

"Second brother, are you okay?" "I heard you were looking for me." Erlang Shen said.

"Yes."

"My little sister wanted to play with Chenxiang, so I took her out."

"Have you found the agarwood?" asked Erlang Shen.

"Second brother, Chenxiang is your nephew, you shouldn't ask me."

"Yeah, that's right."

"Chenxiang is naughty, and I don't know where he ran to. If you see him, come and tell me, I will catch him and teach him a lesson." Erlang Shen said.

"it is good."

Nezha and Erlang Shen parted ways.

Chenxiang’s disappearance is not a big deal for Nezha.

From Nezha's own perspective, he used to often sneak out to play alone, although he got into trouble in the end.

It's normal for little boys to go out and play by themselves, right?
Nezha turned around and glanced at Erlang Shen's back.

Something seems wrong.

Erlang Zhenjun is indeed the real Erlang Zhenjun, and the thing he concealed is just the matter of his nephew Chenxiang?
This is inconsistent with Nezha's feelings.

……

In Xiaguan, Chenxiang was trying to capture the five divine winds.

As summer approached, the wind in Xiaguan gradually weakened and became less strong, and Chenxiang's inspiration for the divine wind increased accordingly.

To capture these five divine winds, both luck and strength are needed.

Xiaguan is not a small place, and the wind is invisible, so trying to catch it is like a blind man touching an elephant.

Chenxiang ran around Xiaguan with the white jade bottle, chasing the wind, and most of the time he was making useless efforts.

Although it was useless, Chenxiang himself was very happy.

There needs to be some useless things happening in the world so that the "useful" things can be highlighted.

Hatake Kakashi: [The Chunin Exams are about to begin.]

Roadside: [Kakashi, are you doing a live broadcast? ]

Hatake Kakashi: [What do you want to see?]

Roadside: [I watch whatever you broadcast.]

Hatake Kakashi: [I’m starting the show…]

Shi Tianwu: [Here I come.]

Kakashi opened his video chat window and live-broadcasted his students' Chunin Exam to the chat group.

"Can you hear that?" Kakashi asked.

Roadside: [I can hear it clearly.]

Roadside: [Kakashi, are you peeking? ]

"My students are about to fight with Might Guy's students, and Guy is peeking in."

"It seems that Kai's student, Lee, wants to challenge my student, Uchiha Sasuke."

"However, Naruto stated that he disagreed."

"Naruto and Sasuke used rock-paper-scissors to resolve their differences."

Roadside: [Kakashi, voiceover work isn't for you. Your commentary is a bit stiff.]

"Look, Sasuke won." Kakashi continued to explain.
