Chapter 283 Spider Monster
Chapter 283 Spider Monster
"Should we make a quick getaway?"
Looking at the dust billowing about 300 meters away, he turned to look at Logan.
“They’re all small fry to you.” Logan calmly lit a cigar.
Logan didn't smoke a single cigarette in the underground college, partly because he was afraid of having a bad influence on teenagers, and partly because the ventilation underground was poor and the smell of smoke was hard to dissipate.
When Wolverine Logan comes to the ground, one thing he always does is reward himself with a cigarette.
"Are you alright?" Logan asked Stark.
Tony slowly opened his eyes; his eyes had been hurt by the electric shocks from the magnetic field on the roadside.
He brought his hands close to his eyes, carefully observing his reborn hands.
"What's wrong? Is it difficult to treat disabled hands?" asked a puzzled man by the roadside. Cassandra's men were less than a hundred meters away in their modified car.
"Only through a special time, a special place, and a special method can my hands be healed."
"It involves fate. I lost both hands to become the Sorcerer Supreme I am today."
"Time flows through nothingness, but time has no meaning here."
"Another meaning of the Void is emptiness; it is completely empty."
"And the method..."
Tony Stark found no trace of magic, and there was nothing ghostly left on his healed hands.
“Cellular recombination, do you know what that means?” Lu Guo said to Stark.
Cassandra's men's convoy surrounded the three, each staring at Logan, Tony, and the roadside with hostile expressions.
“Logan, you’re not getting away this time.” John the Fireman said viciously, snapping his fingers to activate the electromagnet.
"what?"
Logan stood there smoking a cigar, waiting for a few people to use a powerful electromagnet to pull him over.
"Why is it useless?!"
"Is there a problem?"
Logan smiled dismissively.
He had a premonition that someone would use magnetism against him, and he hated Magneto the most. Fortunately, he found a way to counteract magnetism using the power of magnetic fields.
“Although I’d love to wipe you all out here, I have to do it for Cassandra’s sake,” Logan said.
"..." John the Fireman's face looked very ugly.
"Logan, let me scare them." He stepped out from the roadside and performed a superhero-style ground-slamming move in front of everyone.
The ground directly in front of the roadside collapsed completely, and one piece of land after another was lifted into the air and suspended by an invisible magnetic field, forming an abnormal gravity environment.
“In a place like this, a view like this isn’t so bad, is it?” He turned back to Logan and spoke.
“Hmm.” Logan nodded.
Stark looked up, the unusual gravity created by the roadside reminding him of the time he obtained the Reality Stone. The nine realms were aligned, and inexplicable anomalies were appearing on Earth.
“I prefer having people fall in a loop,” Stark commented.
A dozen people struggled desperately in the weightless air, trying to assume various positions, but they couldn't move an inch.
"How many days?" Logan asked, pointing to the roadside.
"Of course we'll have to play for a few days." The man on the roadside laughed happily.
Turning to Stark from the roadside, he said, "The Tony Stark I remember is a flamboyant guy, always spouting witty remarks. The one wearing this outfit must be someone else."
“I did fit the image you described before the car accident,” Stark said.
"Going back to school?" Stark asked Logan. Stark pulled a slingshot from his pocket; it could open a portal to the academy.
"I'm not going back yet. I have a problem I need to solve," Logan said, his gaze shifting to the people standing by the roadside.
"What trouble is it that even you can't solve?" someone asked curiously by the roadside.
“It’s a spider monster,” Logan explained.
"It is generally clear that it was transformed from a human."
"That spider monster had extraordinary sensory abilities; we encountered it by accident while digging an underground tunnel."
"A spider monster?"
"Could it be Spider-Man?" someone gasped from the roadside.
“Who is Spider-Man?” Logan and Tony asked.
“Peter Parker,” the roadside replied.
"Superhuman sensory abilities, or a spider monster? The first person that comes to mind is Spider-Man."
“The first time I encountered the spider monster, I was almost torn to pieces by that spider. Luckily, Charles used mind control to drive it away,” Logan said, frowning.
"Mr. Stark, are you interested in hunting down the spider monster?" someone asked Tony Stark by the roadside.
"Of course we'll go together."
“Peter Parker, I vaguely remember that name,” Stark said.
The Sorcerer Supreme, Tony Stark, was trying hard to remember, but the harder he tried, the less he could recall.
Logan and Stark rode the Batmobile toward the Spider Monster's territory, with Lu Bian flying alongside them.
The mage Stark watched with envy as he could fly freely without the aid of any props; he needed the Cloak of Levitation to fly.
Logan led Stark and the roadside to the entrance of a dark cave, which was covered with white spider webs.
“Charles told me that there was a tormented soul here.”
Logan parked his motorcycle, a cigar dangling from his lips, and headed into the crypt. The glow of the cigar flickered in and out of the dark crypt passage.
Stark put on the sling ring, and the Reality Stone emitted a light just enough to illuminate the path ahead. He walked at the very back, very cautiously.
They caught up with Logan by the roadside and asked him for more information about the spider monster.
"It was extremely ugly. It had eight eyes on its face, and in addition to its original hands, it had four extra pairs of spider legs on its back," Logan described the spider monster's appearance.
"I can smell his scent."
Logan stopped, his steel claws popping out, his muscles tense and veins bulging.
Logan and Lu Bian both have the ability to sense things in the dark, but Stark needs light to illuminate his surroundings.
The first thing to arrive in front of the three was a flying spider web, which, instead of targeting them, blocked their way back.
The spider monster targeted Logan first because Logan was the opponent it had defeated last time. Roadside and Stark were strangers, so the spider monster was very wary.
The spider webs that landed on Logan were sticky and tough, and it was incredibly difficult for Logan to cut through them with his steel claws. Layer after layer of webs wrapped around Logan, and in just a short while, only Logan's head was sticking out of the webs.
“Friends, are you just going to watch?” Logan asked the man on the side of the road and Stark.
“I’m waiting for him to attack me,” the roadside man replied.
A spider web shot towards the roadside, and the person on the roadside reached out and grabbed it, then pulled the spider monster to their side with a forceful tug.
"What?" Stark was about to cast a spell.
