Chapter 357 A World Without Buddha
"You monster have delayed me. What are you doing here setting up a small Leiyin Temple?" Chenxiang said with great dissatisfaction, pulling the little fox towards the mountain gate.

In front of the mountain gate, people on the roadside were looking up at the plaque above the gate.

At first glance, what catches the eye is "Leiyin Temple."; upon closer inspection, there is a smaller character before "Leiyin Temple," which is the character "小" (small).

"I'll go and take down your signboard." The monk bypassed the Yellow-Eyebrowed King and headed towards the mountain gate.

"Are you all heading to the Great Thunderclap Temple? Did you accidentally wander into my Lesser Thunderclap Temple on the way?" Huang Mei asked.

"Otherwise what?" the monk turned to Huang Mei and said.

“Da Leiyin Temple…we can’t go there!!” Huang Mei said nervously.

Why can't we go?

"Are you afraid that when we get to the Great Thunderclap Temple we'll tell the Buddha that there are demons who will ruin his virtuous conduct?" the monk asked.

"No, that's not how it is..." Huang Mei was sweating slightly.

"I... I was originally a bell-ringing attendant beside Maitreya Bodhisattva..."

"So what?" the monk said.

"Five hundred years ago, I relied on several magical treasures of Maitreya Bodhisattva to show off my power here. The Great Sage Equal to Heaven invited many helpers, but none of them could defeat me. In the end, Maitreya Bodhisattva took away the magical treasures, and I was no match for him. The Bodhisattva took me back to the Western Paradise to reflect on my mistakes."

“I faced the wall for five hundred years, and suddenly one day Maitreya Bodhisattva expelled me from Mount Ling. Maitreya Bodhisattva himself also disappeared without a trace.”

"I realized with a start that that matter was about to happen," Huang Mei said nervously.

"What is it?" The monk's heart also jumped.

"..." Huang Mei looked intently at the monk Dayuan, the reincarnation of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

"What brings you to the Great Thunderclap Temple?" Huang Mei asked instead.

“Let’s go find the Mighty King Bodhisattva and the Victorious Fighting Buddha.” The monk turned to look at Chenxiang and Pingping.

"Ha, haha." Yellow Eyebrows laughed.

"Aren't these two at their own dojos?" Huang Mei asked.

"Of course not, otherwise why would we travel so far to Mount Ling?"

Huang Mei had a big smile on his face.

"I see... We'll wait for you to go."

"What exactly do you mean by this monster?" the monk asked, utterly perplexed.

Agarwood's eyes shot out lightning, its consciousness invading Yellow Eyebrows's sea of consciousness; the riddle solver must bear the consequences of others failing to decipher the riddle.

Chenxiang found the answer in Huangmei's sea of consciousness, but Chenxiang also fell silent.

He dared not reveal what Huang Mei was hiding.

The Victorious Fighting Buddha is not on Flower Fruit Mountain, nor is the Mighty King Bodhisattva on Green Cloud Mountain. All the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats are not in their own temples; they are all gathered on Vulture Peak.

The Buddha is about to pass away, and the time for the birth of Maitreya Buddha has not yet come.

An era without Buddha is about to arrive.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was entrusted by the Buddha to remain in the world after his own passing and before the birth of Maitreya Buddha, to teach and liberate sentient beings from the six realms of existence: hell, hungry ghosts, animals, asuras, humans, and gods.

In the darkness, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was going there as instructed by the Buddha.

When the Buddha passed away, it was also the time when Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva returned.

The phrase "a world without Buddha" literally means a world where Buddha does not exist.

Based on Huang Mei's understanding of this matter, Chen Xiang felt that a world without Buddha was a terrible era.

All existing Buddhas will pass away in the next life; all Buddhas are present, yet they are also absent.

Chenxiang rubbed his temples, puzzled.

Although he had read Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, Chenxiang's understanding of Buddhist principles was not as good as that of the Black Bear Spirit.

Why think so much? You'll find the answer to this when you get to Lingshan.

Chenxiang gave up thinking.

"Let's go to Mount Ling first. We'll deal with this guy when we get back," Chenxiang said.

"...I know how to get to Mount Ling." Huang Mei smiled and gave Chen Xiang directions.

"Go on your way, everyone. I'll wait for you to come back." Huang Mei saw the four of them off.

Starting from Xiaoleiyin Temple, the group of four arrived at the Western Buddhist land, located at the foot of Mount Ling, half a day later. Before ascending Mount Ling, they needed to pass through Yuzhen Temple at the foot of the mountain, exit through the main hall, and then go through the back gate to reach Mount Ling.

Lu Bian and Chen Xiang landed early and arrived at the gate of Yuzhen Temple.

The Taoist temple gate was tightly closed, and no one answered when I knocked on the door from the roadside.

"Is there no one?"

He pushed the door hard from the roadside, only to find it was bolted and couldn't be opened.

"Something must have happened, that's why they're not letting people in. Should we wait a few days?"

He turned back to look at Chenxiang and the others from the roadside.

"I can't wait any longer." The monk stepped forward and forcefully pushed open the gate of the Taoist temple.

The monk deduced the location of the door bolt.

The young Taoist priests in the temple heard the commotion and ran to the mountain gate to investigate. They saw a monk leading a group of people who were trying to force their way in.

"Master! Master! There are bad guys!" the young Taoist priest shouted and ran away.

"Look, the Golden Peak Immortal is coming soon," the monk said by the roadside.

"Didn't you bring me here to open the gate to Mount Ling? Now I'm opening the gate for you." The monk smiled back at the roadside.

"Understood. Monk, you take Chenxiang and Pingping up Mount Ling later, and I'll cover your retreat," he said by the roadside.

"Come on!"

The monk shielded the roadside in front of him and pushed it into the Taoist temple. Chenxiang and the little fox followed closely behind. The four of them rushed around the Yuzhen Temple like a train.

"I see the back door!" someone shouted from the roadside.

"You want to venture into Mount Ling? Have you even asked this immortal?"

A Taoist priest dressed in brocade robes and holding a whisk blocked the way at the back door.

"Whale Killer Fist!!"

He raised his hand and threw a punch from the roadside.

Instead of punching the Golden Peak Immortal, he punched the wall next to the back door.

With the walls collapsed, whether there was a door or not was no longer important.

With the high walls no longer obstructing their view, the scenery of Ling Mountain appeared before the four of them.

The Great Thunder Temple is located on Lingjiu Peak of Lingshan Mountain. The peak with five-colored auspicious light and thousands of layers of auspicious clouds in mid-air is Lingjiu Peak.

"The old Taoist's courtyard wall!!"

"You guys leave quickly."

The monk transformed into a locomotive, jogging ahead and carrying Chenxiang and Pingping up the mountain path, heading towards Mount Ling.

"Who are you villains, daring to trespass into Mount Ling?"

"Is it Moro?" the Golden-Crowned Immortal asked.

“Moro? No, that’s not it,” someone by the roadside said.

"Then why did you intrude into Mount Ling at this time?"

"What time is this?" someone asked from the roadside.

"Yes..." The Golden Peak Immortal fell silent.

Mara, also known as Pāraṇī, is the demon king. He appears both at the time of the Buddha's enlightenment and passing away, and often during the times when the Buddha and his disciples are practicing.

The four of them barged into the roadside, startling the Golden Peak Immortal.

The roadside figures are a burly, tall monk who appears to be a wise spiritual practitioner, a beautiful fox spirit, and a pure, jade-like young man...

How can this not be Mara, the demon king, disrupting the Dharma?

Overwhelmed with sorrow, the Golden Peak Immortal shed two lines of tears.

"When the Buddha was about to pass away, all sorts of demons and monsters appeared."

"What did you say? The Buddha is about to pass away?!" A person by the roadside exclaimed in surprise.

"Demon King Mara, you still want to corrupt my Daoist heart!" The Golden-Crowned Immortal raised his whisk and struck the roadside.
