Chapter 269 The Werewolf Game Begins!
"Maybe..." Cohen sensed that Silver Key wanted to show him something.
“We can go explore,” Harry said, rubbing his hands together excitedly. “I brought the Invisibility Cloak!”
“Then find the secrets of this inn.” Ron was also very interested.
“But we can’t use magic outside of school…” Hermione said worriedly, “And… I’m not sure if Dumbledore will approve of the leave slip we left at his door…”
"Did you slip them a leave slip?" Cohen raised an eyebrow. "Then there's no problem—you can go wild now, Dumbledore will take care of anything..."
"So, Cohen, what were your original plans?" Harry asked.
"Plans?" Cohen silently pulled a pillow out of the bed. "Go to sleep. What other plans do you have?"
“?”×6
"Where are you going?" Harry looked at Cohen, who was clutching his pillow, with confusion, because Cohen seemed to want to leave the room. "I feel like we shouldn't be apart..."
“You don’t need to separate, this room is for you—the three of you.” Cohen said to the Chimera Beast, “Yes, that’s right, it’s for you. You’ll stay here too, it’s relatively safer this way.”
"Where are you going?" Ron asked in surprise.
"I'm going next door." Cohen arrived at the door with a pillow.
“But isn’t Mr. Burton next door? Wouldn’t this be a bit…” Harry’s expression twitched slightly.
“No way, he was so obvious…” Cohen said helplessly, “He was Edward in disguise—otherwise, why do you think he got angry when I told him, ‘You’ll have to go ask my dad for it later’?”
“Oh!” Ron finally got the first laugh. “You want to pocket that Galleon—I’m so envious…”
"Goodnight." Cohen raised his eyebrows and waved to the Earl, signaling him to come over. "Treat him to survive tonight."
-
"Boom boom boom!"
Cohen, clutching a pillow, knocked on Edward's door.
"What's wrong—" Edward opened the door a crack and said in a low voice.
“I want to sleep with you,” Cohen said.
"?"
"What's wrong? Do I need to pay more?"
Cohen tilted his head and asked,
"Then you're being a bit too dramatic..."
Edward pulled Cohen into the house.
"Has something happened?" Edward asked anxiously after confirming that the room's soundproofing spells were intact. "How could it suddenly—"
"The only one in danger is you," Cohen shrugged. "Harry has a chimera watching over him—"
"A Chimera?!" Edward exclaimed in surprise. "Didn't you forget your box?!"
“Just because I didn’t bring it doesn’t mean it won’t come out,” Cohen said, shifting the blame. “Harry and the others told it to take them away from the school to find me—otherwise, how do you think Harry and the others managed to track me all the way here in a single day without being discovered… I’m sleeping on the left side.”
“I’ll sleep on the right side then, so we don’t fight over the blankets,” Edward said. “To be honest, my gut feeling tells me tonight might be dangerous—”
“I will protect you,” Cohen said.
-
The "danger" that Edward sensed did not materialize until eight o'clock the next morning.
It's also possible that it just didn't happen in this room.
"I think I heard something," the Earl said gravely, waking Edward and Cohen. "Someone's arguing—"
"Really?" Cohen finished dressing and planned to go next door to check on the situation.
Edward immediately jumped up, quickly got dressed, and followed.
When Cohen knocked on the door of 207, Hermione, who had already gotten up early, opened the door.
“Harry, Hermione, Ron…” Cohen peered over and checked. “Lion, sheep, snake… all right, none are missing.”
"What happened?" Harry and Ron asked sleepily. "Is something wrong?"
“The Earl said he heard arguing, let’s go down and see,” Cohen said.
"Roar..." the lion roared in a muffled voice, biting the blanket—it was hungry.
“We can go catch crocodiles in the lake to eat,” Cohen suggested. “You can also check if there are really any crocodiles in there.” “Roar?” The lion tilted its head and looked at Cohen.
“You’ve seen crocodiles,” said the goat-headed man. “They’re the kind of lizard-like creatures you ate five of in one go across the Nile.”
"Roar!" The lion's eyes lit up immediately, and the longhorned water snake had to put on its cloaking suit immediately—otherwise, if they went out, they would most likely scare a bunch of Muggles.
After Chimera left, Cohen and the others went down the stairs into the hall.
There is indeed an argument going on here, and the noise is clearly getting louder.
“We only had contact with you yesterday!” the younger of the Beatrice sisters shrieked at Mr. Raven, tears still streaming down her face. “She’s dead! You must—you are—you insane murderer!”
As she spoke, she frantically lunged at Mr. Crow, trying to tear off its hood.
"Take off that ridiculous hood! I'm taking you to court! I'll make you pay for my sister's life!"
“Madam, I am unaware of what happened to your sisters.” Mr. Raven easily subdued Miss Beatrice. “I only remember providing you with excellent service last night—and, to be frank, you even praised my skills and abilities last night.”
"Shut up! You heartless madman—"
"What's all this noise so early in the morning?" Old Deng in a suit appeared at the top of the stairs, extremely displeased. "Has society degenerated to this point? Is it acceptable to shout such disgusting things in public?"
"What happened?" Old Deng's son also came downstairs, his face also showing displeasure.
"My sister is dead!" Miss Beatrice screamed. "He did it!"
Miss Beatrice's trembling finger pointed at Mr. Raven.
"Ah—" Hermione covered her mouth in horror.
“This is a very serious accusation, Miss,” Mr. Raven said calmly. “But I can assure you that I did exactly as you asked last night, and that I left safely after you had your fun, without ever going back into your room.”
"Someone died?!" Xiao Deng, who was still a little sleepy, was jolted awake.
All the unfriendly gazes were fixed on Mr. Crow.
This eccentric waiter is indeed quite suspicious.
“I told you there was something wrong here!” Old Deng whispered in Little Deng’s ear, “Trust your old man—”
"But... why?"
Xiao Deng didn't quite understand, then he turned his gaze to Cohen and the others.
"And you? How much do you know about this? What exactly is going on?"
“I don’t know,” Edward said. “We just came down too…”
Edward also looked warily at Mr. Raven and shielded the children behind him.
In order to find out the truth, everyone decided to go to Beatrice's room to check the cause of death.
They pushed open the door to the eldest of the Beatrice sisters' room.
The door was ajar, and everything inside looked normal; there were no signs of a struggle or splattered blood.
Beatrice lay on the bed as if asleep, the blankets pulled back—probably when her sister checked on her.
Cohen moved closer to the bed and carefully examined Beatrice's condition.
“There are white marks on the corners of her mouth… she drank something…” Cohen deduced, mimicking a detective.
“That’s… um—” Ms. Beatrice, standing to the side, tried to explain somewhat awkwardly, but there were a bunch of children around.
“Oh~” Cohen understood immediately.
"What's this?" Ron found a crumpled little note under the bed. "One person dies, another receives revelation..."
Today I took a bus back to my hometown and then went a long way to get broadband installed. I'll take a break after writing about 4,000 words.
