Who let this Dementor into Hogwarts!
Chapter 450 No one can refuse an adventure in another world
Chapter 450 No one can resist an adventure in another world
"Alright, alright! It's time, is everyone here?" Edward clapped his hands in the middle of the classroom. "Let me count..."
"...Thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three—that's a bit short. It seems everyone's quite busy. But we have free time, so let's leave it at that for now. Come on, we need to divide into teams first."
Thirty-three people came tonight, and Edward divided them into three teams—but not all of them had eleven people, because those who came to the club were mostly in small groups.
For example, Cohen and his three friends.
They went to one team with the Gryffindor students, the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students went to another team, and then the Slytherin students.
For some reason, only two or three people from Ravenclaw showed up; they probably felt that reading in the evening was much more important than attending a gaming club.
“I’ll only teach you how to use it here; the rest you’ll have to experience for yourselves—first, you need to hold the wand and insert it into the hole on the side of the box—yes, just like that,” Edward instructed.
“Merlin’s beard—” Fred exclaimed in surprise.
As soon as they inserted the wands, they felt a live-streamed image being transmitted to their minds through the wands.
Now they can control clay figures that are exactly like themselves, and can even see everything that the clay figures can see.
This novel experience and the brand-new world before them greatly excited the students.
Fred and George looked at Edward with intensely eager eyes, as if they had discovered a great opportunity to make money.
After learning how to "create a character" and "start an adventure," they became immersed in this lifelike otherworldly adventure.
Cohen also discovered the modifications Edward had made to these boxes.
For example, in addition to the original Dungeons & Dragons rules, Edward added wands and spells, making it seem like a cheat code.
If you know certain spells such as unlocking charms or fire-starting charms, you won't need to learn spells like knocking and fire arrows by leveling up in the "game" when you encounter locked doors or places where you need to burn vines.
“Of course, you can’t use dark magic or the Unforgivable Curse; you’ll be forcibly logged off,” Edward said to a Slytherin student whose wand had been flicked away. “Like this.”
The Slytherin student blushed.
……
"That was really fun!" Hermione exclaimed excitedly after the activity ended. "We were able to use all the spells we learned! Did you see that guy who was frozen in place by the petrification charm?"
“I hadn’t even seen anything clearly when Cohen killed the enemy,” Harry said.
"I really couldn't resist at the time. When I saw someone being frozen in place, my critical strike to holy slash suddenly lit up on its own," Cohen said. "It's like I have 2d8 Radiant damage with just one hit."
"So now you don't think this club is a waste of time?" Ron asked Hermione with a grin.
“Oh, I never said this club was a waste of time, Ron,” Hermione snapped. “I was just curious how Professor Norton would get us to learn more spells—it’s certainly a clever method.”
“And it’s very mentally taxing,” Cohen said. “I get a headache just thinking about how many spells I have to cast on this box—you guys can just have a good laugh, the other professors won’t spend this much time playing games with you.”
Two hours of gaming time is still too short for students; they can't find opportunities to fight monsters and bad guys freely in real life.
When Edward told them it was ten o'clock and they should go back to rest, many of them groaned reluctantly.
"Professor, our curfew isn't until 11 PM—"
"Is there another day tomorrow, professor? We still have a day off tomorrow—"
“We can do it during the day too—” “Alright, alright, don’t get addicted. Once a week is enough,” Edward said. “Practice the spells more, and you’ll be more comfortable next time you play.”
"Ah..." The students let out a very regretful sigh.
"Professor, will there be club activities at Christmas? We have a long Christmas holiday—and it's very boring—" a student asked.
“Christmas…” Edward said, “I might not be teaching here after Christmas—it’s a last-minute change, you know, I have some other things to take care of, but your next Defense Against the Dark Arts professor has already been found.”
"what!"
"no--"
"You are the best Defense Against the Dark Arts professor we have ever encountered, you can't leave!"
"It hasn't even been a semester yet!"
"Only two months left!"
"Teach for at least a year!"
But their requests obviously couldn't change the outcome, and these boxes wouldn't stay at Hogwarts, because they were different from the boxes Edward gave to Cohen; the magic on them needed Edward to replenish them frequently, otherwise they would become real, lifeless sand table models.
"I really hope Professor Norton can stay."
On the way back to the dorm, Hermione said,
"Cohen, do you think you can—"
“Don’t say another word, I don’t want to hear it,” Cohen said, covering his ears. “I can’t do it, it’s too much trouble.”
“No wonder you never played chess with us in first and second grade.” Ron was still thinking about how Cohen had actually been playing it for a while. “No matter how many times we called you, you wouldn’t come… so that’s why…”
“My version of the display case didn’t have a rule about bringing wands,” Cohen said. “You couldn’t use magic inside.”
“That would be even better—” Ron said expectantly, “That way I won’t have to expose my weakness of actually being a half-baked spell user…”
"What's your father up to? Is it about the Order of the Phoenix?" Harry asked curiously. "I remember Mr. Norton always seemed to be..."
“He’s been unemployed for a long time, and he hasn’t had any Muggle kids playing Dungeons & Dragons with him lately.” Cohen nodded. “But everything is about to change. He has a very difficult and important task to do, involving the Ministry of Magic, Voldemort, me, and those escaped Dementors.”
Harry seemed to have interpreted it as a mission from the Order of the Phoenix, but Cohen didn't intend to reveal it.
Wouldn't it be embarrassing if Edward didn't get selected?
"Cohen!" The Weasley brothers, who were running up behind them, called out as they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady. "Guess what we just did?"
“He bribed my dad.” Cohen raised his eyebrows.
"More or less," Fred said.
“We’ve reached an agreement with Professor Norton,” George said.
“He’ll take 25% of the profits and become our technical advisor,” Fred said happily. “You’d never guess how well this thing will sell.”
