Who let this Dementor into Hogwarts!
Chapter 464 The Brain Saving Project
Chapter 464 The Brain Saving Project
[What do you mean by "arranged a position"?] Cohen frowned.
Without a doubt, the brain is referring to a Dementor—
Cohen is more like a Dementor in the eyes of these special creatures, after all, he is 60% Dementor.
The Ministry of Magic must have captured a Dementor and put it into the tanks where these brains live, and then wanted the brains to eat them.
[It's just that a seat has been assigned to me.]
Cohen's mind gave him a feeling, as if an empty space had been created in his brain so that new "thoughts" could be incorporated.
"Can it leave?" Cohen asked.
"Thoughts cannot be stopped," the brain says. "It likes us, so it stays among us; when it no longer likes us, it leaves."
Then, a feeling of happiness washed over me—
Then Cohen took a sip, and like human happiness, it was sweet.
Suddenly, Cohen understood why the Dementor "liked" these brains.
It's a buffet!
It's still a completely voluntary buffet!
So the Dementors joined them, so they could eat to their hearts' content...
It's no wonder the Department of Mysteries thought it could harm Dementors—when a Dementor is sucked into a brain right in front of them, it really does look like "a Dementor being eaten by a brain."
Unfortunately, the Department of Mysteries doesn't have a "communication specialist" like Cohen, who can't understand those piercing voices emanating from the mind.
However, there is a very obvious difference between humans and Dementors—
A person's soul cannot be separated from their body for too long, and a Dementor is itself a spirit.
This results in the brain, which is dangerous to humans, being like a room that Dementors can enter and exit at any time.
Moreover, the room was piled high with snacks.
"Give me some more," Cohen said to his brain.
【Okay.】A wave of intellectual pleasure washed over me again.
These little snacks are really useful.
Since Brain was willing to offer it small treats, Cohen not only changed its water but also gave it a larger tank—the same tank that Lupin used to keep Greendylo in. After Lupin left the company, it was thrown into the storage room, but Cohen felt that he might keep aquatic animals in the future, so he took it back.
After changing the water and replacing the large water tank, the brain can now swim around inside—those thought tentacles sway back and forth in the water, giving it a sense of carefree ease, like not having to go to work.
“Cohen! Professor Dumbledore is back! We see him—Merlin’s beard, and what’s that?” Ron said excitedly to Cohen as soon as he entered the lounge, and then he saw Cohen teasing the thing in the large water tank.
"Join us?" Brain found Ron and asked him.
“This is a brain, you should be able to tell,” Cohen said. “It’s a gift from someone, something from the Department of Mysteries.”
“That must be really rare—how could there be a brain all alone…” Ron said strangely, “No way—it looks disgusting—”
Its brain was still spewing out colorful brain matter, as if it thought it could lure Ron into joining it in this way.
“Actually, it’s quite cute,” Cohen said. “Look, it can even swim—it can roll over.”
After hearing Cohen's request, the brain rolled around in the water and then sucked back the colorful brain matter it had spat out.
The strategy of feigning indifference to lure someone in is quite clever—but unfortunately, it lacks common sense. A normal person wouldn't be attracted to a brain spitting out brain matter in a water tank, even if that brain matter is actually colorful thoughts.
“Ugh—” Ron said with a grim expression, “You’re not going to keep it in the common room, are you? — That’s disgusting, Professor McGonagall would never agree to that.”
“Of course not, it’s a bit dangerous for you,” Cohen said. “It tries to pull your mind into its own body—and then you’re stuck living in the same brain as it.”
Ron shuddered and moved back a little.
"You just said Dumbledore is back?" Cohen covered the water jar with a cloth and then tried to stuff it into his horned camel skin bag.
“Yes, Harry and Hermione went to find him, they should be back in a bit,” Ron said. “But this… ‘brain,’ who gave you that? It’s dangerous…it sounds like they’re trying to murder you…”
“The original intention was probably murder.” Cohen raised his eyebrows. “But obviously they didn’t succeed. I gained a new pet, and a big project for the future—I’m going to raise lots and lots of brains.”
Then the Dementors can abandon their worldly desires and join Cohen in building the Trisolaran society.
All of this is thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Department of Mysteries.
“In my mind, you’re already on par with Hagrid…” Ron swallowed hard, only daring to sit down in the armchair after Cohen moved the water tank away. “Of course, I’m referring to keeping magical creatures…”
Not long after, Harry and Hermione returned.
Dumbledore didn't seem to talk to them for long, and Harry didn't seem to be in any better mood.
"What happened, bro?" Ron asked, puzzled, seeing Harry's unhappy expression. "Dumbledore wouldn't distrust you, would he?"
"Quite the opposite." Harry forced a smile. "He believed us and even offered a solution."
“Isn’t that great?” Ron said.
“I guess you’ll need to learn some additional things,” Cohen said.
"I'm going to learn Occlumency from Snape." Harry's smile no longer looked like a smile.
“This is the safest way, Harry,” Hermione said earnestly. “You must break this connection—Dumbledore is right, it’s dangerous for you and for everyone else.”
“I won’t ambush you while you’re awake,” Harry said impatiently. “And I’d like to break off this connection—but Snape—you know him, he certainly won’t teach me.”
“He’ll definitely teach you, remember? He’s also a member of the Order of the Phoenix,” Hermione said.
“I think he’s a mole, and he’s a Death Eater too,” Harry said angrily. “Maybe if I were alone with him in the same office, he would only think about torturing me instead of teaching me anything.”
“Cheer up, you were just suspected of being murdered. I’ve already been murdered,” Cohen comforted him. “Someone slipped a brain into a pile of gifts today, trying to swallow me whole with it.”
"He picked up...what?" Harry thought he hadn't heard what word Cohen said.
“Brains, literally brains, the weapon the Ministry of Magic developed to deal with Dementors—though now they’re my pet,” Cohen said, then suddenly slapped his head. “Oh, right, I need to hurry and write to Edward to tell him to stop murdering those brains…”
