【Thank you. 】
Cohen leaned close to Sissoko's jaw and said,
【dad.】
"Buzz--"
Sissoko was so excited that he let out a hissing sound like a kettle boiling.
Then it quickly tumbled and wrapped Cohen up.
"Alright—that's enough—you're wrapping it too tight—" Cohen struggled a few times, "If you keep tightening it, you won't have a son anymore—"
Sissoko immediately released Cohen.
"Can you say it again? Can you say it again?" Sissoko said, shaking his head and lying next to Cohen.
[I was really going to shout, but I don't anymore.] Cohen pursed his lips. [You two can continue your romance. I just came to visit and, incidentally, to stop that new Hydra from eating all the fish in the lake.]
-
When Cohen left the box, he brought out a large canister of Hydra blood and a small canister of Hydra venom.
"Cohen!"
As soon as Cohen stepped out of the box, he was caught by Harry, who rushed into the dormitory.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Cohen asked.
"I, I saw—I heard—Snape and Malfoy talking!" Harry said breathlessly.
"About what?" Cohen asked.
“It’s about you!” Harry said angrily. “Malfoy was the one who murdered you! Snape told him to find someone else, because, because of you…”
"Because I can't die?" Cohen said disappointedly. "Looks like no one's going to try to murder me next."
“They also said…” Harry recounted everything he had heard to Cohen.
-
According to Harry, that's roughly the truth...
In the corner corridor on the third floor, Malfoy was led behind a statue by Snape.
"Are you insane?!" Snape roared. "Attack Norton? You'd pick on the hardest person to kill first?"
(“Wait, will Snape really make an ‘angry face’? I thought he’d pretend to be expressionless forever,” Cohen asked.)
(“Cohen…” Harry sighed helplessly.)
(“Okay, you can go on,” Cohen said.)
“It’s none of your business,” Malfoy said. “And who said I laid a hand on Norton? I’ve been in the lounge the whole time!”
“You’ve been suspected,” Snape said. “Back when school started, it wasn’t for Pierce helping you fool Dexter.”
(“Pierce?” Cohen asked. “Pierce Sinkness? Looks like Edward’s going to have to catch another mole.”)
“Who suspects me?” Malfoy said. “I’ve already said it wasn’t me. There are so many people in the school worried about Dementors eating their souls; anyone could have done something to Norton—don’t look at me like that, I know what you’re up to—”
"Your mother taught you Occlumency. What are you planning to hide from your master?" Snape asked softly. "Draco?"
“That’s none of your business,” Malfoy said angrily. “I know what you’re up to; you want to steal my credit—because he trusts me, he gave me the weapons, but not you—”
“You need to understand, this task isn’t easy to complete,” Snape said. “Your whole family’s lives are at stake. If you want to save your parents, you just need to find an easier target…”
“I can save them,” Malfoy said. “And I’m not just going to save them, so I won’t let you steal any of my credit. Go ahead and tell the Dark Lord that I won’t let you interfere, and see if he punishes me for keeping the secret, or for meddling in other people’s business—” “You need to find a different target, something simpler—I can help you…”
-
"And then?" Cohen pressed. "What did Snape say next?"
“Malfoy ran off!” Harry said. “I don’t know if he’ll change targets—but he’s clearly the murderer, and a Death Eater at that!”
“It sounds like he still wants to murder me, that’s great,” Cohen said with relief.
“Cohen…” Harry said, clutching his head, “He said Voldemort gave him a ‘weapon,’ what if he could really kill you? We should tell Dumbledore all this, we can’t let him stay here any longer…”
“If that weapon could really kill me, he would have done it himself, not sent Malfoy,” Cohen said. “Don’t worry, if he attacks me, he won’t attack anyone else—how about I play dead for a bit next time?”
“I bet it won’t be Dumbledore coming to arrest us, but Mr. Norton,” Harry said. “Anyway, I’m going to talk to Professor Dumbledore and get to the bottom of this—”
After saying that, Harry hurriedly left again without even drinking a drop of water.
However, half an hour later, Harry returned dejectedly.
"Dumbledore didn't believe you?"
“Professor Dumbledore said he has a plan and this won’t happen again,” Harry said, puzzled. “If he knew it was Malfoy who did it, why didn’t he just expel Malfoy?”
“Because if he’s fired, Malfoy’s mission will fail,” Cohen said, reclining in his armchair. “Then his whole family will be killed by Voldemort—you heard what Snape said, ‘Your whole family’s lives are at stake’…”
“They’re all Death Eaters!” Harry exclaimed angrily. “Following Voldemort means taking these risks, doesn’t it? People who work for murderers should…”
“I agree with your plan, but the Sage wants to save people,” Cohen said, lying on the corpse. “Then let’s follow the Sage’s arrangements.”
Harry was still angry, but Cohen, as one of the parties involved, didn't seem to care much, so he couldn't say much more.
Cohen's life of lying down lasted less than half a day. After the Defense Against the Dark Arts class ended, Snape kept Cohen behind.
“I need you to intimidate Draco,” Snape said bluntly, “as Dumbledore has instructed.”
“You were making sarcastic remarks about me last class,” Cohen said, head held high. “Why should I help you?”
“Because it was Dumbledore’s arrangement,” Snape said expressionlessly.
“This is Dumbledore’s arrangement for you, not for me,” Cohen said. “Persuading Malfoy is your job.”
“Do you know how much is involved in this?” Snape stared into Cohen’s eyes. “All you have to do is scare him, tell him you know about that attack—”
“Making me work is a different price,” Cohen said, raising an eyebrow. “You know what to do—a professor who deducted fifty points from Gryffindor in the last class.”
Snape's pale face looked more like a statue—though statues don't usually have this trembling expression of anger.
After a while.
“If you do that, Gryffindor will get fifty points.” Snape said through gritted teeth, as if he had suddenly lost his tongue.
-
“My God, and there’s forced humiliation too,” the Earl said after Cohen returned. “I’m growing to like this weird school more and more.”
