Chapter 616 Abandoning the Physical Form
Chapter 616 Abandoning the Physical Form
Meanwhile, the day after the party ended, Edward, Dumbledore, Cohen, and others gathered at No. 5 Privet Drive.
After the party, Cohen and the others told Edward and Dumbledore about Helbo, and this morning, Edward confirmed the news.
“Cohen was right, there’s news from Greece,” Edward said gravely. “The minister there said a crazy old man killed three Aurors, and…”
“The Minotaur labyrinth,” Cohen said.
"How did you know?" Edward asked, frowning.
“Because his hometown is right beneath those labyrinthine ruins,” Cohen said. “The first thing he’ll do when he gets back is go back there.”
“I can try to fight him,” Dumbledore said, “but I’m not sure if I can defeat him—logically speaking, an ancient dark wizard isn’t actually that scary…”
“He didn’t even use a wand when he killed,” Edward said. “The Greek minister is considering appeasing him first—but I think that’s unlikely. I’ve heard that Helpo is keen on using living test subjects to research even more cruel black magic…”
“I’m setting off to find his Horcruxes in a bit,” Cohen said. “I can sense their approximate locations now—”
“We’re going with Cohen too,” Harry said. “Once we find his Horcrux, will Cohen be able to take down Helbo like he took down Voldemort?”
"If everything goes well," Cohen said, somewhat uncertainly.
The fragments of Halbo once said that Cohen was made entirely of materials from the creatures Halbo created—he could tear Cohen to shreds at any moment.
On the bright side, that sentence might just be a desperate statement made by a fragment of Helbo before he died.
But thinking about the worst...
The unparalleled control that the fragments of Helbo demonstrated over the basilisk speaks volumes.
“Do what you think is necessary, Cohen,” Dumbledore decided quickly. “We cannot give up hope because of the risks. I will do everything I can to deal with him and buy you time.”
“I can too—” Edward nodded, about to say something, but then he suddenly stopped.
A stranger suddenly appeared at their door.
Cohen knew who he was at a glance.
[Soul Strength: 99]
“Found you… Cohen Norton.”
Helpo looked at Cohen, who was standing in the middle of the group, with great interest.
“Your friend Zenon is honest; his mind tells me you’re looking for my Horcrux, isn’t that right?”
“So what?” Cohen glared at him.
After a large amount of sin points were replenished from "killing Dumbledore" and after consuming Voldemort, his soul strength had reached 99 points. If it weren't for the Horcrux protecting Helbo's soul, he could have killed him right now.
“Overstepping boundaries requires some minor punishment,” Helpo said in a relaxed tone. “When you use my materials to create a body, you should have thought of that, right?”
"hiss--"
Cohen suddenly gasped in pain—as if something was being peeled away from him.
Then, Cohen felt a chill and realized that it wasn't that something on his body was being peeled away, but rather that his entire body was cracking open, like a sewn-up doll whose stitches had been pulled out.
Black, liquid curses were oozing from Cohen's body—on his face, arms, neck, and everywhere else that was visible.
"Cohen!"
Edward grabbed Cohen, trying to pull him away, but Cohen elbowed him away.
Under Edward's questioning gaze, Cohen, dressed entirely in black, suddenly lunged at Helbo. "παω."
Helpo simply raised one hand, and Cohen's body remained suspended in mid-air in an eerie posture.
"Let go of my son!" Edward roared, throwing several spells at Halbo, but Halbo deflected them all with a wave of his hand.
Then, Halpert tossed Cohen's body aside as if it were a bag of trash, and then used his free hand to throw a death curse at Edward.
Dumbledore quickly transformed the vase in the living room into a bird, which flapped and stood in front of Edward.
The bird was instantly destroyed by the spell, exploding into a cloud of dust.
"Let's go," Dumbledore said to Harry and the others, then waved his wand again, and a long flame lashed out like a whip at Halbor.
Halberd flicked his right hand, and the whip instantly transformed into a fiery serpent, turning to bite Dumbledore.
"Harry!" Hermione grabbed Harry and Ron's hands, wanting to lead them away from there.
"No! Cohen!" Harry struggled to pull Cohen, who was motionless not far away, along with him, but Hermione held on very firmly—
But Hermione's Apparition failed, as Helbo placed the same restrictive spell the moment he arrived.
At the same time, Dumbledore waved his wand, scattering the treacherous fire serpent, and stopped Edward, who also wanted to take Cohen with him.
A flame ignited above their heads, and Fox appeared beside them in the flash of light.
Helbo's next purple spell followed, carrying a dangerous aura, but a dark figure blocked it for them.
Edward paused for a moment.
It was a Dementor that appeared out of nowhere—
Edward looked incredulously at the motionless Cohen beside him, then at the Dementor blocking their way.
Helpo seemed to have been caught off guard by this situation—he had found the creature, the Dementor, in the memories of those Greeks, and the kid named "Cohen Norton" was a Dementor.
But he had clearly just killed him; the body was still lying limply beside him—
“Fox,” Dumbledore said softly, then took Hermione’s hand with one hand and Edward’s hand with the other.
Without thinking, Edward reached out and grabbed the robe of the Dementor in front of him.
Phoenix understood Dumbledore's meaning, and after a burst of firelight—only Helbo remained in the house.
"Tsk." Helbo narrowed his eyes.
-
"Are you really Cohen?" Harry asked.
"You've asked five times already," Cohen, in his Dementor form, said helplessly as he floated through the cave.
Dumbledore led them to a secluded cave, where Hermione lit a fire of ice because it was rather stuffy.
After Edward discovered that Cohen was still alive and kicking despite not having a body, he was no longer as nervous as before, but Harry still couldn't understand why Cohen could have two bodies.
“It’s a bit of a shame, I quite like my body,” Cohen said. “But it’s alright, he can only deal with my body now—Dementors aren’t within his research scope.”
“I thought he invented Dementors too.” Ron’s eyes widened.
“No,” Hermione corrected. “The Dementors were discovered along with the secret fortress of a dark wizard named Extis—and that place is now—”
“Azkaban,” Cohen continued.
