Chapter 632 Taoist Priest Shaves Head

Chapter 632 Taoist Priest Shaves Head
The hunter was so frightened he almost lost his mind. He was convinced that he had encountered some evil spirit and was bewitched, which was why he thought he saw the wooden building and went in to rest. He was so scared that he lost his mind and ran away in a scramble and stumble.

No one knows how he found his way home. When he got home, he was so frightened that he was completely disoriented. It took him a long time to calm down.

When this was told, it really startled a lot of people.

However, despite being startled, everyone just found what he said rather frightening. They didn't really believe him. Seeing how frightened the young hunter was, they didn't refute him. Most people privately thought that the young man was probably tired, hungry, and soaked to the bone by the rain, which made him sick and cause him to have hysteria.

After all, these people hadn't lived here for very long. This area used to be deserted, so there couldn't have been any houses or people, let alone a two-story building!
However, this story is quite bizarre, and while some people may not believe it, others may be curious.

After a while, two teenagers in town finally got the idea. They agreed to follow the hunter's advice, packed plenty of food and water, and set off to search for the hunter.

Originally, they were just curious and itchy, wanting to find some fun. They didn't think they would definitely be able to find the legendary wooden building. But as they walked, stumbling along, until it got a little dark, they actually saw the shadow of the wooden building in the distance.

One of the two people was probably just looking for fun and didn't expect it to actually happen. When he saw that there really was a small wooden building standing in the distance, he was startled and immediately wanted to turn back. He thought it was better not to risk going there. What if there were evil spirits causing trouble? He didn't want to lose his life for a moment of curiosity.

The other one, however, became much bolder. Not only did he refuse to return with his companion, but he also joked that if they encountered a still-attractive female ghost, wouldn't they be getting a good deal?

Neither of them could convince the other, so they had no choice but to go their separate ways.

The timid one returned home and tossed and turned all night, regretting his previous cowardice and lack of loyalty. The next morning, still feeling guilty, he went to the other man's house to apologize.

When he arrived there and inquired, he was told that his companion had not returned home that night.

The timid one became nervous and didn't dare tell anyone. He followed the path he had taken before and, after walking for less than an hour, he was shocked to find his companion lying unconscious next to a puddle.

He rushed over to try to wake his companion, but no matter what he did, he couldn't get him to wake up. Finally, he fetched water from a nearby puddle and splashed it on the other person to wake him up.

When the other person woke up, his face was filled with horror. He stammered about how he entered the wooden building the day before and how he saw a scene that looked like paradise on earth. However, he was having a good time when suddenly the paradise on earth turned into a hellish place where demons danced. He was so scared that he wanted to run away, but he was paralyzed and unable to move, as if he had been frozen in place.

The two went back together, and the one who was braver seemed to have been scared out of his wits. He also fell seriously ill after returning home, and even though he drank the same talisman water, it took him a long time to recover.

After the story spread, the townspeople began to believe the legend of the little wooden house to some extent.

Soon, rumors spread, and opinions gradually split into two. Some people in the town believed that some kind of immortal might live in that eerie mountain valley. Whether it was a celestial being or an earthly immortal, they were just quietly cultivating there and were disturbed unexpectedly, which was why they were so angry. They thought that using such an illusion was a small punishment to warn them to behave themselves and not disturb them again.

Others were less optimistic. They were convinced that there must be evil spirits in the ravine. This wasn't some minor punishment; it was a pure attempt to bewitch people and then kill them. Otherwise, why would they let people see those terrifying illusions?

Or perhaps, who can say that those so-called illusions...aren't real?!
Of course, there are a very small number of people who think that it's not really that mysterious. There are no immortals or evil spirits. It's just that the mountain valley is damp, and when it gets hot, miasma forms. The miasma is poisonous, and when people inhale it, they get poisoned and then they see things that weren't there before.

This viewpoint of a very small minority is also the most despised among the many speculations, and almost no one is willing to accept it.

After all, even if there really is miasma, it's impossible that all the hallucinations caused by inhaling miasma would be the same small wooden building, right?

After that, the town's residents began to feel uneasy, but in the end, no one dared to go and find out what was going on, so the matter was gradually put aside.

After that, things were quiet for about a month or two, and nothing much happened during that time. Just when the people in the town were about to forget about the incident, someone went up the mountain to pick wild vegetables and somehow got lost. When he was found again, he was exactly the same as the two unlucky guys before.

The townspeople were now quite unsettled. They felt that even if they didn't deliberately seek out the eerie little wooden building, they could still inexplicably become the next person to be possessed by a nightmare. What else could this be but an evil spirit?!

So they simply asked the Taoist priest who had drawn talismans for them before to come out of the mountains and help the people of the town exorcise evil spirits.

Perhaps because of the generous reward, the Taoist priest didn't refuse much and agreed. After setting a date, he took some exorcism items and a dozen or so able-bodied men from the town and followed the direction the three men had gone before to find the small wooden house...

"And then did they eliminate the evil spirits?" Zhu Yu asked impatiently, her face full of curiosity.

The innkeeper waved his hand with a wry smile: "What are you trying to eliminate! If it could eliminate any evil spirits, you wouldn't see so many people drinking talisman water here today!"

The Taoist priest and the dozen or so strong men who went with him were also bewitched. When they were found, they were scattered all over the mountains and fields. Many of them had their clothes stripped off, and some had their heads shaved.

Even the Taoist priest was in the same state; his robes were reduced to shreds!

"My God, wouldn't that scare all these people to death?!" Zhu Yu exclaimed.
