All the evil beasts in the world, I feed on demons and monsters
Chapter 91: Summary and Adjustments at the End of Volume
Chapter 91: Summary and Adjustments (Readers, please come in!)
call!
Finally, the third volume is complete! The original inspiration for this volume was [Jiao Enjun's version of the Lotus Lantern] + [Sixteen Sounds of Yanyun].
My inspiration is actually quite abstract.
In short, new authors, reflect first!
As the first official world, its problem is that it is too long!
This is almost a complete world. If you expand it with travel, sects, apprenticeship, martial arts competitions, secondary occupations, humorous daily life, etc., it can almost be expanded into a fantasy novel with hundreds of chapters.
Of course, there are also too many supporting characters’ perspectives. I habitually use supporting characters to introduce new plot points, but this inevitably results in a reduction in the protagonist’s perspective.
The core of this problem lies in two issues:
1. The story of the supporting characters is not deeply connected to the main character. The main character often appears after the story of the supporting characters. Even if the supporting characters have roles in the subsequent part, it gives people a sense of group portrait.
I already understand this point (roughly). In the next volume of the reality chapter, I will have an in-depth plot between the supporting characters and the protagonist, and then at the end of the story, there will be a big emotional outburst.
2. The copy is too long and the supporting characters appear too many times. Although I have tried my best to design a completely different story, it still inevitably brings a sense of repetition.
In all subsequent worlds, I will pay attention to reducing the number of supporting characters and increasing the emotional intensity of the supporting characters and their connection with the protagonist.
At the same time, this world is too long, creating a sense of fragmentation that doesn't fit the theme of the universe, especially affecting the real-life plot.
The reason is that I am too ambitious and lack the ability.
The author wanted to lay a long and subtle clue in this volume, and also wanted to introduce a usurper like the "Ghost Golden Sheep" and a transcendent person like Xun Yu who could break away from the original world.
If you want everything, you will get fat.
There are 20 to 30 more chapters than I initially anticipated. I will definitely pay attention to this issue in the future, and keep each volume to around 40 chapters, with the contemporary volume being shorter.
Also, a weak point of mine.
The character design is relatively weak, which should be a common problem for newcomers. In fact, in the first and second volumes, Ji Ran basically has no clear character traits. He is just an ordinary, calm, and thoughtful trainee civil servant who is neither annoying nor likable.
It was not until the story of beheading the jackal captain that he entered the third volume and events pushed him forward, slowly allowing him to empathize with others and cultivate a chivalrous spirit.
After having Luan Ke, the temperament has become more clear. Later, I will slowly learn to enrich the character design and add some interesting characteristics that are not isolated.
Below are some of my own feelings and gratitude.
Thanks to every friend who can see this. The voting, messages, and follow-up readings that pop up in the assistant every day make me understand that there is a group of people who are on the same wavelength as me and are walking in the world I have created.
I believe that this sense of recognition is the initial and most primitive motivation for all authors.
As a newcomer, I have discovered many problems with myself as I write this.
Many readers have also offered valuable feedback. Many friends have said that this book has a style similar to certain others, and I feel deeply in awe. Compared to other market-proven works, I am still far behind.
I can only promise you that I will do my best to improve with each volume. The third volume should be significantly better than the first, and the same will be true for the subsequent volumes.
You can think of me as a development-based author. I think I’m making pretty fast progress (hands on hips).
Some of my friends are worried about whether this book will be abandoned. I can honestly tell you that I write part-time, and this first book has some aspirations for value, but not much.
As long as I can get an average subscription of 500+, I can guarantee that I will reach one or two million words, land smoothly, and complete the book carefully. The follow-up ratio of this book is not good, but almost all of it is genuine follow-up. Thank you very much!
Generally speaking, after a story is finished, the readership tends to decline. However, this is a critical period for this book, and I hope everyone will continue to support it!
I personally want to write more free ones so that everyone can have more experiences. So there is no rush to put them on the shelves, wait for notification.
However, before it goes on sale, everyone's follow-up reading is very important to me! ! At least, read it until it goes on sale, give it a first order, and give newcomers some confidence! (Crazy hint)
Especially the catch-up reading on Mondays and Tuesdays, it is very important! (Bow down)
Let me talk about my writing habits. I always have a satisfying ending first, then work backwards from that ending, connecting it to the previous story to design the story. So there is basically no story that will collapse later. The further back in time, the better.
If it's not good, it's because I'm not good enough, and my writing doesn't produce the desired effect. My ability is limited. For the last few chapters, I went from 4000 words to 5500 and then revised them back to 3500. During the climax days, I barely wrote anything new; I was revising. I've always felt that being able to create the most vivid descriptions with the fewest words is the most concise and beautiful.
Plot and emotion are the key points when I conceive a story.
I still have room for improvement, and I will use this book to slowly hone my writing skills. I hope to be able to do so with you all.
The next dungeon world already has a framework, an ordinary first-level world. Late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, gangs, all kinds of gangs, foreign churches, corpse-driving opera... (To avoid censorship, only the background is borrowed and the name is changed to make it fictional).
After completing the promotion world, you will also encounter professionals in the copy world.
This world will be more refreshing and enjoyable.
The next fourth volume, the reality chapter, was renamed "The Beast in Human Face".
I won't let you down, I'll keep it short and sweet, and present a satisfying official organization and a realistic story.
During the writing process, I received a lot of support and suggestions, which I am very grateful for. Some of them may have come from other author friends, but as a complete newcomer, I may not have been able to see them at first. Thank you for your support and for giving me the opportunity to PY.
Thank you to everyone I've read, and thank you to the silent majority. I'm one of those people who's been reading for ten years and never posted a chapter. Since becoming an author, I've practically finished replying to every chapter I've ever posted. I'm very grateful to my operations officer, "The Newspaper Painter," who, during my naiveté, got me tons of chapter recommendations from the biggest names, allowing me to reach more people. I'll keep reading later.
I will continue writing this book slowly.
I'll accept feedback, but I won't change the flavor. I know tweaking the flavor might appeal to some, but regular customers are definitely accustomed to the old taste. I'm nostalgic, and I'll learn the rhythm and tension, but the style and core remain unchanged.
Next, let’s talk about the adjustments to Volumes 1 and 2. Some of the issues were indeed unreasonable due to the rush when the books were published.
1. Regarding the official "intrigues," I've deleted that part. Originally, there was a causal nail setup, but after reflection, I felt it was too contrived. So, in Volume , Chapter , "Official Traveler," Xie Yan's words were changed. Instead of telling the protagonist not to worry about intrigues, he now suggests that the protagonist can conceal their report appropriately.
2. Regarding the issue with the Wangchuan Mirror (the biggest issue). This was indeed designed to rush into the third volume and unfold a new story, but the setting wasn't rational enough. A huge amount of spiritual energy was spent, but the results were disproportionate.
Currently, the "Wangchuan Mirror" and "Martial Arts Hall" functions have been merged, and the Martial Arts Hall has been deleted. After the Wangchuan Realm ends, players can stay in it to continue practicing. A "revolving lantern" function has been added after the battle, allowing players to practice according to the prompts. Once the movements are consistent with the requirements in the revolving lantern, they will become muscle memory and immediately improve their proficiency. (After all, if an ordinary person is not very cautious in a mission, they can only spend two or three thousand spiritual essences, and a few hundred in Wangchuan. If the gains are not great, it is really useless.) The location is in Volume 2, Chapter 7 "Practicing Sword in Wangchuan"
3. The cyclical problem of the heavens is that due to the real-life plot, twice a month is too much, so it is adjusted to two solar terms a month, and you can choose to enter one. In other words, once a month, after the plot of the real world ends, you can "flash in X days" and immediately enter the new world.
4. One of the seven professions, the Wicked Ghost, has been renamed Nightmare Master (more stylish and nicer-sounding). Considering changing the four ranks and twelve levels to a clearer scale of 1-12, due to the existence of non-sequential creatures, the original two sets of levels (professionals at rank 1 (beginner, intermediate, and late stages), and abnormal creatures and monsters (levels 12-)) are now becoming more cumbersome.
The beginning of the next volume will quickly introduce what determines the 7 professions (I think the setting is quite interesting and the logic is self-consistent).
A profession is divided into four levels, each level has a new name and professional skills. The same level skill can be awakened twice (level 3, level 1, awakened once from 2 to 2, and awakened once from 3 to ), obtaining different active and passive skills.
The above are four points where there are indeed problems, and adjustments have been made.
I will use a sufficiently rich story to vent even stronger emotions!
Tomorrow, let us walk into the snow country of the north, into the immortal home of the northeast, and into the cult storm.
Enter Volume 4!
