Chapter 71 Terminal Transaction
Chapter 71 Terminal Transaction
The Sasong area is located on the seaside in South Mumbai. It has a fishermen's wharf, an old shipyard, and a large number of seafood processing workshops.
In the evening, Ron, Luca, Anand and others arrived at the Mabudi Restaurant early.
Their flying pancakes are good, and perhaps because of this, the restaurant is already packed with people.
This is a workers' restaurant, and from morning till night, the place is always packed with workers, both men and women, who love this place and treat it like their own private kitchen.
They were all local fishermen, shipyard workers, or those working in seafood workshops. They liked the restaurant, which, despite its simple, practical decor, was inexpensive and spotlessly clean.
That gorgeous slice of pizza, swished to your table by the ever-busy waitstaff, is filled with the most delicious blend of spices you'll find in any other restaurant in the city.
Just as Ron and his friends were enjoying their meal, a dark-skinned young man wearing a loincloth and a sleeveless sweatshirt walked into the restaurant. He whispered a few words to Ron, took a 10-rupee tip, and then ran away.
"Let's go." Ron stood up and paid the bill.
They left the restaurant, crossed the road, and then walked through the arches of the old shipyard. Ahead lay the seafood processing area, and beyond that, the Arabian Sea.
In the evening sun, the dried prawns piled up into pink hills, and the evaporating fishy smell was nauseating.
But once they saw the sea, the stench disappeared in the strong wind. Closer to the pier, the few people made their way through the crowds.
The men pushed the carts and the women carried baskets on their heads. Both the carts and the baskets were filled with crushed ice and heavy catches.
There was a clanging noise from the ice factories and processing plants working furiously, and the shrill cries of auctioneers and salespeople.
"Damn, why does this scene look familiar? We often chose places like this when we traded hemp in Brazil."
Luca was a bit emotional at the sight; he loved this chaotic, dirty, yet vibrant scene. The adventurous gene dormant in his blood was reawakened, and his blood began to boil.
"Don't make us act like a gang, this is a legitimate business." Ron rolled his eyes in dissatisfaction. He was an outlaw with a bottom line.
"Don't you hate the word 'serious'?" Luca retorted.
"Between 'good' and 'bad', I would rather choose 'good'. I am an Indian who has feelings and morals."
"Dude, when did you become so humorous? You're a shrewd and ruthless businessman! A compliment, huh?"
"That's not a contradiction. Well, I think I see Pant, look."
Under a messy and dilapidated shed, the wooden door of a room was opened, and Pant was sticking his head out and waving inside.
Several people walked over quickly and were startled by his strange appearance as soon as they entered the door.
"Dude, how did you get into this?"
"Those guys are crazy and don't follow any rules."
Pant angrily waved his good arm, his other arm bandaged and hung around his neck. His left foot also seemed to be in poor condition, and he walked crookedly, like walking on a slope.
"I heard Johnny say the problem was resolved, so I thought you were okay."
"Aha, except for having nothing, I'm really fine now." Pant sarcastically said loudly, not knowing who he was mocking.
"Okay, we don't want to get involved in these things. We are here to talk business." Luca urged from the side.
"Yes, business, follow me!" He limped and pushed open another door in the room.
From here is a yard, under the red tile shed are piles of goods. They are covered with a layer of green rainproof cloth, and it is difficult to see what is inside.
"Here are all the medicines. Count them." Pant had someone remove the tarpaulin. The sight of boxes of medicines was dazzling. "God, didn't you say you had nothing? Where did you get all this?" Luca hurriedly pulled out a list and excitedly pounced on the pile of medicines.
Not only him, but Anand and Vinod also climbed up the hill of packing boxes and began to count the medicines according to the manifest.
"Do you know what a dealer's most valuable resource is?" Pant said with a smug and proud expression, "It's distribution channels! We don't hoard goods, and we don't care about territory. As long as we have distribution channels, we can make money continuously and make a comeback."
Having said this, he suddenly lowered his voice, and the light in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by resentment and a hint of fear.
"Ron, you know Hard Khan, right?"
"Yeah, you know, Johnny and I are friends."
"You have to be careful with him."
"Who, Hardhan?" Ron's heart skipped a beat.
Pant smiled strangely, then turned to face the piles of medicines, his expression seeming to contain nostalgia.
Ron was still pondering the meaning of his words, but Pant didn't seem to want to talk about this topic anymore, and the two were silent for a while.
"The categories and quantities of these medicines match, but there is one exception." Luca had already completed the inventory.
"What's the problem?" Ron walked over.
“Some manufacturers are different from last time.” Luca came over with the notepad he had written down.
"Pent?" Ron turned.
"It's nothing to be surprised about. India has tens of thousands of pharmaceutical factories, but they only produce so many different types of medicines. It's not surprising that hundreds of factories are producing in-demand drugs simultaneously. There's little difference in their effectiveness. I can guarantee it's fine."
Panter's explanation still left some people hesitant, but Ron knew it was the truth. He couldn't possibly check the efficacy of the medicine at each store, and Luca had no intention of returning the product.
"These medicines that have changed manufacturers are not that important. Let's leave it this way for now." Luca himself accepted Pant's explanation. The medicines he cared about most did not change. This was the key point.
"OK, it's a pleasure working with you, Mr. Pant."
"We are old friends. Oh, did you bring your dollars?"
Pant's eyes were full of eagerness, and now only this could cheer him up again.
Ron winked at Luca, who took the suitcase, put it on the ground and opened it.
"Forty thousand dollars in cash, and one million rupees, all here."
"I like you guys. It's easy, just pay and get the goods."
According to the agreement, of the medicine worth more than 70,000 US dollars, 40,000 US dollars would be paid in cash and the rest would be converted into rupees.
Pant's lips trembled as he touched the green dollars. It seemed as if what he held in his hands were not dollars but a naked beauty.
"Okay, guys, our deal is done." He zipped up the suitcase again. "Here are the next items, are they okay?"
"Of course, we'll get it done."
Ron didn't just wait around for these three days; he had already arranged everything.
