Chapter 62 Mission: 09-3 Lies
In the silent valley, there is a figure.

She was knocked to the ground repeatedly, but she kept getting back up, crying and punching.

She possessed many powerful Noble Phantasms, but at this moment, she was unable to use any of them. She simply climbed up with her bare hands and launched a meaningless counterattack.

She cried, screamed, and punched the unreachable enemy repeatedly, only to be knocked to the ground again and again.

How unfair and pointless this is—

Perseus sighed.

If Perseus had seen someone else undergo such torture, he might have mocked her: "So embarrassed, so panicked. Since the enemy is invincible, why not give up and find another way?"
For example, asking a great hero to be your helper, or asking the gods for a certain gift.

But this person happened to be Perseus himself.

Then she finally understood:
So this is what it feels like to be at odds with fate?

No hero will come to save you, and the gods will not lend a hand to you. Because you stand on the opposite side of fate, everything in this world will be against you.

All I could do was stand up, grit my teeth, and punch.

Otherwise, you will consider yourself unlucky and be killed.

This road is so unfair...

How pointless.

Finally, Perseus was knocked to the ground again and could no longer hold on and fell into a coma.

"but……"

A thought turned around in Perseus's mind and disappeared into the chaos.

So the Sphinx, who was observing all this from a distance, looked a little relieved and relaxed.

This was good, everything was just as she expected. If she could rekindle the fighting spirit in Perseus, there would be hope of defeating the enemies of this singularity, and her operations over the past week would have been worthwhile.

The reason why the Sphinx made the time so tight and let Perseus give up on himself for so long until Kriemhild arrived was all because of that terrible enemy.

The young form of Beast I/N, the demon named "Pavoni." The Sphinx, as the Judge, knew its true nature and, through solving puzzles, uncovered some of its powers.

First, there's the "Anti-Prophecy." This vast barrier, capable of nullifying fate, prophecy, divination, and other powers, is both a power and a shackle. To render fate meaningless, Pavoni lost her eyes; to silence prophecy, she lost her ears. Furthermore, to completely control the future, Pavoni abandoned her mind, transforming into a beast worthy of the name of a demon king.

Today, Pavone is just a piece of flesh that can know the future and dance according to its instincts. This is the price it pays for its arrogance.

If you think that makes it seem less terrifying, you're mistaken. As a beast imbued with the principle of domination, even a cub can dominate any opponent infected by its demonic energy. Anyone infected by that dark demonic energy must share the price of its arrogance.

If the mind is not strong enough to resist, then one will completely lose the mind and become a puppet to be controlled by it.

Those who are mentally strong and not afraid of erosion will be deprived of their hearing.

If there are saints who are able to resist this erosion above this, they will lose their sight.

The reason why Georgos, whom Nero saw, appeared with one eye was because she had completely given up one of her eyes in order to restore her vision.

And this is despite the fact that she possesses the holy sword that grants immunity to all evil. Therefore, the Sphinx must restore Perseus's will, or she will not be worthy of entering the final battlefield. And the most suitable person to accomplish this is Kriemhild.

Fortunately, she did as the Sphinx expected.

Sphinx withdrew her gaze, intending to take another look at the situation in the town. She was aware of the unusual movements in the town, but knowing where Giorgios was, she didn't see it as a threat.

Then she heard the news that shocked her.

"The seventh sun has set! It has deceived us all!"

"what?!"

At this moment, the Sphinx's face turned pale, and she lost all her composure. She spread her pair of white wings and rushed into the sky, heading straight for the sun, just like the legendary Icarus.

Sure enough, the closer she got to the sky, the closer the sun seemed to the earth. The Sphinx immediately understood the reason—time within the singularity was distorted! Except for the area covered by Pavone's barrier, time everywhere else was slowed down!

This was a grand feat that went beyond sorcery and was close to the realm of "magic". And in her impression, there was only one person in the singularity who could do this!
"Mephisto!!!"

"Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Looks like I've been exposed."

Deep in that unobservable realm, a demon in a tuxedo lowered the top hat on his head and smiled slightly, revealing two fangs.

"It's okay." Beside it, a huge demon pillar twisted and made a turbid sound.

That was the demon god "Lamer." Unlike Fulfur, who was out delaying the enemy, he was the true creator of this singularity. With the myriad eyes of his body, he gazed upon the figure sleeping in the darkness and said, "There are only three hours left until sunrise. No one can prevent the birth of a new king."

"So that means I'm no longer needed here, right?"

The eyes closest to Mephistopheles turned towards it: "Are you leaving?"

"I'm not like you, willing to sacrifice yourself for a 'great cause'." Mephistopheles said with a smile, "Then, please excuse me."

It stretched out its cane and tapped the ground, then turned and walked out into the dark night.

"What is your real name?"

Lamer demanded.

"Of course it's Mephistopheles. Didn't I tell you that?"

The devil stopped, tilted his head slightly, gave a mysterious smile, and left.

"fraud."

Lamer whispered a farewell to it.

For demons, their True Names are an unchangeable essence. Therefore, if a demon is summoned as a Heroic Spirit, its True Name becomes its Noble Phantasm. As a demon god, Lamer understands this all too well.

However, Lamer heard clearly that the name Mephistopheles shouted when he released his treasure was "Faust"!
If you think about it, the name Mephistopheles itself is rife with strangeness. It represents "the lightless one" and "the liar," meaning one with "no light in their eyes and a mouth full of lies"—the devil. This name is far too unrepresentative of a true devil, as the characteristics it refers to are common to all devils.

This demon brought by Fulful was not worthy of trust, Lamer judged.
