Chapter 99 Mission: 03-4 The Bloodthirsty Beast
After a moment's hesitation, Nero suppressed her shock and took off the mask, returning to her blond, blue-eyed self. She looked at Lenai, who was calm and unsurprised, and asked:
"How did you know it was mine?"

Lenai pointed to the ponytail swaying behind Nero and said, "The taste of coffee."

This nose is too sensitive.

But there was nothing she could do. Facing a creature so beyond human common sense, if Nero didn't wash herself thoroughly before disguising herself, Lenai would be unavoidable. And she couldn't afford to go through the trouble of disguising herself every time. Fortunately, she had only created two identities because she thought it would help her gather intelligence better, and Lenai wasn't the one she was trying to hide from.

So as long as Lenai doesn't take the initiative to tell anyone, this matter will not have any impact.

Nero gave her a helpless smile, took Lenai's phone, and added himself to her contacts. Then, Nero handed the phone back to her and said, "You misunderstood. I already paid for your coffee."

Nero didn't mention at all that Shuangshi helped Lenai pay it back, and started to pull the favor towards himself with malicious intentions.

"what's up?"

Knowing that Nero's visit had nothing to do with the unpaid coffee bill, Lena tilted her head and asked again. She was truly straightforward, skipping all the twists and turns and explanations to get straight to the point.

Nero smiled and replied, "Don't you want someone to hunt demons with you? I'll accompany you."

A hint of surprise flashed in Lenai's eyes. She looked at Nero, sizing him up and down, then nodded and said happily, "Interesting woman!"

"How rude," Nero cursed with a smile. She knew Lenai had no strange thoughts, but she still corrected him: "'Samael'—remember to call me that when we hunt demons."

In other words, don't shout like that unless you're prepared to hunt demons.

Looking at Lenai nodding, Nero was a little worried that she might not understand such a complicated meaning, so he added, "Other times..."

"Interesting woman." Lenai answered without hesitation.

Well, it seems I understand. Nero raised his head and felt the cool evening breeze, searching for the devil's scent.

"Over there?" Lenai pointed and prompted.

Indeed, the demonic scent was stronger in that direction. Nero didn't think there was anything wrong with Lenai being as sensitive to demonic scent as he was. After all, he could even smell the scent he'd picked up after spending hours in a coffee shop, so it wasn't uncommon.

"Can you keep up?" Nero asked her.

"No problem." Le Nai said so, holding the emerald green pendant in front of her chest, calling out the name of her magic tool:
"Marcias."

Instantly, two balls of illusory flames appeared in Lenai's eye sockets. The same flames then enveloped her hands and feet, from which emerged two pairs of hook-like claws.

She got on all fours and took a cheetah-like running start.

"Then you have to follow closely."

Nero smiled slightly, and leaped through the air, landing on the roof of a low building beside him. He then paused for a moment, intending to see how Lenai would get up.

Unlike Nero, a descendant of Sparta, Kaname's power comes entirely from the magical tool "Maxias." While it can manipulate fire, significantly enhancing the wearer's physical abilities and demonic perception, it doesn't include the use of magical power. This means Lena can't tap into magical power to achieve double or even multiple jumps like Nero. However, she has her own methods. Using her enhanced physical abilities, Lena uses pipes, air conditioner units, window sills, and other protruding structures to swiftly soar up walls with such ease that it almost seems like she's flying.

Nero, who was observing her, chuckled and exclaimed, "She really looks like a cat."

This refers to Lenai's rock climbing moves.

Since he was sure that she could really keep up, Nero no longer waited. He moved quickly and efficiently across the rooftops and arrived at the target location where the demonic energy gathered.

As night fell, in the corner of a small alley, a few ragged, homeless people gathered together. They could hear constant swallowing sounds, as if they were devouring something.

Nero jumped down from the roof and landed behind them. He walked forward slowly, his footsteps echoing in the narrow alley.

"Why, is there anything delicious?" she asked.

One of them turned around, a gleam in his eyes. He grinned and whispered, "Yes, it's delicious. Do you want to try it too?"

The other four people heard the voice and turned their heads. The corners of their mouths were still bloodshot, and their eyes turned to Nero with a hint of desire.

"It was delicious?"

"Yes..." another person answered dreamily, "It can let you taste flavors you have never tasted before and enjoy happiness you have never experienced before..."

"Behold the moon... the scarlet, beautiful moon."

It’s a pity that it’s cloudy tonight.

Lenai also arrived here right after Nero, and landed on the ground without making a sound.

Nero frowned, enduring these unpleasant sights and looking towards the center of the crowd - there was a ball of dark demonic energy, with nothing in it. Only some bloodstains on the ground could prove that something had once existed.

"Hey, hey hey... come... join us..."

The men stood up and staggered out from the depths of the alley, gradually approaching Nero and Lenai, almost closing in on them. Nero sighed helplessly and whispered, "Is there no hope?"

The next second, claws and fur tore through their clothes, erupting from the bodies of these once-human creatures. In this moonless alley, they stumbled, their bodies continuously sprouting jet-black hair and tangled muscles. Their faces stretched, their mouths thrust forward, their ears shifted to the tops of their heads...

In the blink of an eye, they transformed from a few humans into wolf-like monsters that stood upright. There was no doubt that they must have devoured the flesh and blood of the devil.

Moreover, it was probably no ordinary demon. Otherwise, a mere piece of flesh and blood wouldn't have the power to transform all five people into mad demons. But why would such a thing appear in such a place?
It's hard to imagine a long-buried mass of demonic flesh being unearthed in a developed metropolis. It could only have been deliberately dumped there by someone with unfettered access to the demonic realm. So who could it be? Little Ace, or the person behind Mu and Hailing's transformation into demons?
"So ugly." Compared to Nero who had a lot of thoughts in his mind, Lenai's complaints seemed ruthless and direct.

Hearing this, the werewolves stretched out their claws and pounced on them without hesitation.
