Morning light streamed through the broken dome, casting its glow on the moss-covered stone bricks like scattered gold dust. Rein slowly opened his eyes; the surrounding stillness made him momentarily think he was still dreaming. Until a warm breath brushed against his neck—

"Are you awake?"

The familiar, gentle voice belonged to Fufu. She was leaning close to him, her crimson eyes filled with concern.

“I was terrified when you suddenly fainted last night.” She gently held his shoulder. “But I’m glad you’re alright now.”

Rein sat up, rubbing his forehead, the last scene of the previous night echoing in his mind—deep within the ruins, they had discovered a circular altar made entirely of obsidian, inscribed with long-lost script. When he touched the central rune, a surge of intense heat rushed into his body, and his consciousness immediately sank into a state of chaos.

“…I’m sorry to have worried you.” Rein gave a wry smile. “I’m fine, it’s just…I feel some strange power within my body.”

Fufu blinked: "You mean, those runes transferred power into your body? Did you try to see if you could use it?"

Rein shook his head: "I haven't fully mastered it yet... but I can sense that it seems to be related to the 'Rule Ring'."

Fufu's expression hardened. Of course, she knew what the "Ring of Laws" was—in the secret documents of the royal capital, it was the core of the ancient magic system, known as the "construction of existence" and the "mother ring of elements." Ordinary spells were merely superficial manipulations, but the Ring of Laws... was the key to truly rewriting the laws of nature.

“We have to be careful,” Fufu said seriously. “The ruins here are much older than we thought. They may not be ordinary magical empire ruins, but rather relics from an earlier ‘Primordial Magic Dynasty’.”

Rein nodded, stood up, and brushed the dust off his cloak. They were in the center of a circular hall. The entire ruins were buried inside the mountain, surrounded by towering, weathered stone pillars carved with guardian deities with human faces and dragon bodies. The massive stone door in front of them, half-open, was emitting a faint blue light.

“Let’s continue.” Rein looked up at the stone door. “Whatever this power is, since it has chosen me, it means I have a responsibility to find out the truth about it.”

Fufu didn't say anything, but walked to his side and walked alongside him.

-

Beyond the stone gate lay a long, narrow spiral staircase that wound its way down into an unknown abyss. The two lit the runic lampstones, their pale blue light spilling onto the walls and illuminating vibrant murals: a mage raising his scepter, summoning lightning to pierce the sky; dragons and giants battling atop a mountain peak; and the Azure Goddess reaching out to hold up a lost star.

“These murals… seem to depict a war that has come to an end,” Fufu said softly. “And that round altar may be the place where some kind of residual power is sealed or stored.”

Rein nodded, gripping his short staff tightly. As they descended to the seventh level, a sudden, violent surge of magical energy swept over them, as if the entire staircase began to tremble.

“Something has woken up,” he whispered.

Sure enough, in the space beneath their feet, a golem made of rock and steel slowly rose from the ground. It was three meters tall, with arms as thick as hammers, and a demonic core that shone with a red light embedded in its chest.

“It’s a golem guardian, a typical product of the Primordial Era’s weapon-constructing techniques.” Fou quickly drew her engraved short sword from her waist. “Prepare for battle!”

The golem roared and charged, instantly cracking the ground in several fissures. Rein immediately retreated, forming hand seals as he attempted to channel the new power within him.

"The rhythm of the wind - swift movement."

In an instant, a ring-shaped energy rune unfolded beneath his feet, and he moved like a gust of wind, flashing behind the golem and striking its joints with his short staff.

The golem paused, then roared and swung its arm, forcing Rein to retreat several steps. Taking advantage of the moment, Fou leaped up and slashed off the golem's shoulder armor with her sword, sparks flying everywhere.

"You worked together quite well!" she chuckled.

"It's my first time using this power, so I'm not very skilled yet," Rein grinned.

They fought in turn, until finally, when Rein unleashed a runic technique he had never used before—

"The Binding Ring of Laws - The Rift-Splitting Rope!"

Three runic chains flew from his palm, binding the golem's limbs and core, forcibly immobilizing it in place. Fou, meanwhile, leaped onto the golem's shoulder, her short sword plunging straight into its core!
boom--!
The golem collapsed with a crash, sending debris flying. The golem core bounced a few times on the ground before finally going out.

The two stood amidst the rubble, panting heavily.

"This ruin is truly an extraordinary place," Fufu said with a wry smile.

Rein crouched down and picked up the now-ineffective magic core, examining it closely. "Not only are the guards powerful, but even these relics bear traces of ancient magic... If we can decipher them, we might be able to find the complete Law Ring structure."

Fufu tilted her head and looked at him: "You're really starting to look more and more like a magic researcher."

"But I would rather not have to risk my life for these studies."

The two exchanged a smile and then continued deeper into the ruins.

At the end of the staircase, they arrived at a vast, library-like space. Bookshelves, tens of meters high, stretched out on all sides, their pages suspended in mid-air by rune arrays. A floating blue crystal sphere silently hovered in the center of the hall, its interior a projection of a star map.

“What is this…” Fufu stared in disbelief.

Rein slowly approached the crystal sphere, sensing a familiar rhythmic fluctuation. He reached out and touched its surface—Buzz!
The entire space began to glow, and countless floating scrolls turned as if in response to his call. A point on the star map slowly lit up, and a phantom appeared upon it—

She was a female magician dressed in ceremonial robes, with seven rings of runes appearing behind her. She spoke slowly, her voice echoing directly in their hearts:

"If you can reach this place, it means you have taken up the reins of fate... My name is the Silent Rhea, an ancient lawyer, and the key holder of the 'final chapter of the lawlessness'."

Fufu gasped, "This is... a memory imprint?"

Rein's expression turned solemn: "That's not all. What she left behind was not just a simple message, but guidance... to the true path to the 'Primordial Law Seal'."

After the illusory images dissipated, the floor in the center of the hall cracked open, and a teleportation array leading to a deeper level slowly rose. It was a new beginning, and an unknown adventure.

Rein gripped his short staff and glanced back at Fou.

Should we continue?

Fufu smiled and said, "Of course. After all, I'm your travel companion and the guardian of your destiny—no, your life."

The moment Rein and Fou stepped into the teleportation array, a surge of blue light engulfed them. As the light faded, they found themselves in a magnificent hall. The walls were inlaid with luminous crystals, illuminating the entire space. In the center of the hall stood a massive stone tablet, covered in ancient runes. These runes, illuminated by the crystals, seemed to come alive, slowly shimmering with light.

Rein approached the stone tablet and reached out to touch the runes. A warm energy flowed through his palm into his body, making him feel more comfortable than ever before. Fou also came closer, carefully examining the text on the stone tablet. "These runes seem to record some kind of ancient magical knowledge," she whispered, "Perhaps we can find more information about the Laws of the Rings from them."

Just as the two were studying the stone tablet, the entire hall suddenly trembled. The runes on the tablet flickered rapidly, and then a beam of light shot out from the top of the tablet, heading straight for the ceiling. A phantom figure appeared in the beam of light; it was a woman dressed in a priest's robe, her face indistinct, but her aura inspired awe.

"Welcome to the Trial Grounds of the Law Ring," the phantom said, its voice echoing throughout the hall. "Only the true inheritor can pass the trials and grasp the true essence of the Law Ring."

Rein and Fou exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with determination. They knew the road ahead was fraught with unknowns and dangers, but to uncover the secrets of the Laws and to protect this world, they had to move forward.

With a wave of his hand, the hall floor slowly split open, revealing a staircase leading underground. "The path of trials has begun. May you find true power in the challenges."

The two took a deep breath and stepped onto the stairs leading to the unknown. As they went deeper, the surrounding light gradually dimmed, leaving only the faint glow of the runes on the stone walls. At the end of the stairs was a massive stone door, inscribed with complex magic circles. Rein reached out and touched the stone door, feeling a powerful magical barrier.

“This door requires specific magic to open,” he said in a deep voice. “We need to find a way to open it.” Fou nodded and began searching for clues around her. Soon after, she found a groove beside the stone door, its shape matching the ancient badge they had obtained earlier.

Rein inserted the badge into the groove, and the magic circle on the stone door lit up and slowly rotated. As the last rune returned to its place, the stone door emitted a deep rumble and slowly opened. Behind the door was a vast space, with an island made of pure magic floating in the center.

On the island stood a tall tower, its summit gleaming with dazzling light. Rein and Fou stepped onto a floating stone bridge and headed towards the tower. They knew that the tower held the core secrets of the Law Ring, and was also the end of their journey.

At the very top of the tower, they encountered the true form of the phantom priestess. She stood silently before the altar, holding a crystal ball that radiated a seven-colored light. "You have finally arrived," she said with a smile. "This is the core of the Law Ring. Master it, and you will possess the power to change the world."

Rein stepped forward and took the crystal ball. A flood of information rushed into his mind, almost making him lose his balance. Fufu quickly steadied him and asked with concern, "Are you alright?" Rein nodded, his eyes shining with determination.

“I understand now. The Ring of Law is not just a symbol of power, it is also a responsibility.” He looked at Fou. “We must use this power to protect this world.”

The phantom priestess smiled and nodded. "You have passed the trial. May the light of the Law Ring guide you forward." As her words fell, the entire tower began to collapse. Rein and Fou quickly left and returned to the ground.
