Chapter 10 Meeting the Parents
Chapter 10 Meeting the Parents
"Of course, I like it very much. Thank you, Habby." Peter couldn't let go of the Switch that Yang Le gave him. "This is a new game console that came out this year. Isn't it too expensive?"
Not to mention their own game consoles, Gwen's drumsticks didn't look cheap either. Although they had known each other for almost a month, they didn't know what Yang Le did for a living, and they didn't know much about Yang Le's financial situation, so they were afraid of burdening Yang Le.
"It's okay, don't worry, my friend." Yang Le waved his hand nonchalantly. Yang Le really wasn't short of money. Although he was penniless when he came here, those noodle vendors on the street really weren't short of money.
Besides, Yang Le himself really had no place to spend his money. Except for occasionally going out to restaurants, he ate food grown by swamp fire all the time.
The furniture is basically made up of garbage by the elves. Except for the fact that they suddenly catch fire at the beginning or have some inexplicable functions, they are quite useful.
Shit, from now on, let’s just change the name of the elf to goblin.
To sum up, Yang Le's life is pretty comfortable, with only one drawback, that is his identity. Yang Le still has no proper legal identity. Originally, Yang Le wanted to rely on the goblins to solve the problem, but their professions are not suitable. The goblins are only interested in inventions and creations (although they are not that reliable), and they are not that good at hacking.
"It would be great if there were a little surprise force." Yang Le sighed in his heart more than once in the past few months.
"Peter, don't neglect your studies just because you have a new game console," Gwen reminded.
"That's right, Peter. Uncle Ben and Aunt May will definitely hate me if your grades drop." Yang Le also interrupted.
"Oh, Gwen, of course I, Hobby, know what's important." Facing the two people who poured cold water on him, Peter put the game console into his backpack and said helplessly.
The three of them played and joked all the way to the apartment where Peter and Gwen lived.
"Hey! Gwen!" Gwen heard someone calling her name just as she reached the door of the apartment. The voice was so familiar that Gwen knew who was calling her even without turning around.
"Dad!" Gwen turned around and looked at George standing in front of the police car in surprise. "Why are you back so early today?"
"Of course, it's because I'm back to hold the school entrance party for my little princess." George walked up to Gwen with a carefully wrapped gift in his hand and said with a smile.
"Oh, Dad, don't be like this, it's too corny." Gwen clasped his hands and shivered. George's words gave him goose bumps.
George laughed and then noticed Peter and Yang Le standing behind Gwen.
"Would you like to introduce yourself?" George raised his hand.
After George reminded her, Gwen finally remembered and quickly pulled Yang Le to her side and introduced him, "Dad, this is the Yang Le that Peter and I mentioned to you before. We all call him Habby."
"Hello, Mr. Stacy." Yang Le stretched out his right hand and said seriously. Whether in the movie universe or the comic universe, George Stacy is a pedantic person. Such people basically don't like frivolous people.
In order to leave a good impression on George during their first meeting, Yang Le behaved very seriously for the first time.
"Oh, hello, Yanglu." George shook hands with Yang Le.
"Just call me Hobby." Yang Le took the initiative to suggest when he saw George was stumped by the pronunciation of his name.
"Sorry, I think my pronunciation must be weird." After hearing Yang Le's suggestion, George guessed that he must have pronounced it wrong.
"It's okay. I like the nickname Habby, too. After all, it was Gwen who gave it to me." Yang Le's original intention was to let George know that he and Gwen were close, but George's expression sharpened upon hearing this. "You mean Gwen gave you that name?" George frowned slightly, his father's intuition telling him there was something fishy going on.
"How about it? It sounds nice, right? Because the name 'Harpy' means happy, so I named him 'Harpy'." Gwen interrupted, and looking at her smiling face, it was obvious that she really thought so.
"I hope I'm overthinking it." George looked at Gwen's heartless look and thought that he might be overthinking it.
"By the way, Gwen, this is for you, and this is for you, Peter. Good luck in your studies." George handed the pink gift box to Gwen, and then handed the black gift box to Peter.
"Love you, Dad!" "Thanks, Uncle George."
Looking at the two people who happily accepted the gifts, George smiled and clapped his hands and said, "Okay, kids, Ben and Mei are still preparing a sumptuous dinner. Let's go up and help Mei before Ben ruins everything."
Under George's organization, everyone moved to the door of Peter's house, talking and laughing.
"We're back!" As Peter took out the key and opened the door, everyone walked in one after another. As soon as they entered, they saw Ben standing in front of the dining table setting the dishes.
"Welcome back!" Ben smiled at everyone. "Gwen, go help May. If I go into the kitchen and make things worse again, May will kill me."
Gwen gave an OK sign and placed her backpack and coat on the sofa, then rolled up her sleeves and walked into the kitchen.
"Ben! I told you not to come again...Oh, it's Gwen, you came just in time. You have no idea, Ben almost ruined my soup!"
Hearing Mei's scolding in the kitchen, Ben just curled his lips, shrugged his shoulders, and pretended not to care.
"Uncle Ben, this is the harpy I told you about before." Peter introduced Ben while trying to suppress his smile.
"Hello Uncle Ben." Yang Le stretched out his hand and shook hands with Ben.
"Oh, hello, Hobby, Peter has been talking to me about you, he likes you very much." Ben looked at Yang Le friendly.
"Of course, because we are good brothers." Peter put his arm around Yang Le's shoulders, but because of the height difference, Peter seemed to be hanging on Yang Le.
Looking at the two good brothers, Ben smiled with relief. Peter was an introverted child. If they were not really good friends, Peter would not have so much physical contact.
"Alright boys, dinner is almost ready, go wash your hands. Any boy who doesn't wash his hands doesn't get any pie."
"Okay, I'll go help serve the food while Peter takes Happy to wash his hands."
Peter took Yang Le and George to the bathroom to wash their hands. When they returned to the restaurant, the table was already filled with a sumptuous meal.
"You are the harpy, right? I'm glad you're here. I hope the food is to your taste." Mei smiled kindly at Yang Le.
"To be honest, just the smell has made my mouth water." Yang Le was speaking the truth. No matter whether it was the food he cooked himself or the fast food in the restaurant, none of them looked as delicious as the food cooked by Aunt Mei.
"Okay, sit down quickly. I can't wait." Gwen waved to Yang Le and the others.
