Chapter 1426
Chapter 1426
Although Lightning Boy and Pulse haven't returned, the Assassin's Creed base has already collected a considerable amount of Hell Spores, piling them up into a small mountain.
Robin didn't count them carefully, but he roughly estimated that there must have been at least a hundred. He figured that only a dozen or so would be left, and that would be enough for Kid the Lightning and his companion to collect all the Hell Spores that Darkseid and his group had brought.
Somewhat worried, Robin took the initiative to contact Kid Flash, and thankfully the latter answered the call quickly.
"This is Kid Flash, what's wrong?"
"This is Robin, Kid Flash. Why haven't you and Pulse returned yet?"
“I’m looking for Pulse too,” Lightning Boy said, puzzled. “To finish the mission faster, Pulse and I split the task, each of us taking half of the Hellspores.”
“My half was completed a long time ago. After I came back, I didn’t see Pulse return for a long time, so I went to the place he was in charge of to look for him, but I still haven’t found him.”
Robin's bad premonition grew stronger, and he hurriedly asked, "How long ago did you notice the pulse disappear?"
Upon hearing Robin's question, Kid Flash realized the seriousness of the situation.
"About ten minutes ago."
This time difference is long enough for even the fastest people, and it's long enough for ordinary people. The fact that the pulse hasn't responded for so long clearly indicates that something is wrong.
"Anyway, Kid Flash, come back first." Robin thought for a moment. "You're likely to run into trouble on your own. Let's all figure something out together."
Lightning Boy is no longer the impulsive kid he used to be. Now he's obedient enough to listen to advice, and even though he's worried about Pulse's safety, he's decided to follow his captain's advice.
"Received, I'll head back now."
Lightning Boy hung up the call, then turned around and rushed back, appearing in front of everyone in just a few seconds.
"I am back."
Lightning Kid stretched his legs to relieve fatigue, and glanced at everyone, and sure enough, he didn't see Pulse anywhere.
"Has the pulse still not returned?"
Although he and Robin had discussed this issue just seconds before, speedsters are special and cannot be treated with common sense; a few seconds is enough for them to do a lot of things.
That's why Flash would check if Pulse had returned in a few seconds.
"It looks like the Pulse has run into some trouble," Superboy speculated. "I just don't know if it's the guys from Apokolips or those supervillains on Earth."
Robin's expression was grave. If Yang Le's intelligence was correct, then there were three Apokolips who had invaded Earth. Desad and Grandma Kindness had already been dealt with by them and were now tied up and left in a corner.
Therefore, the only trouble that Pulse could encounter is the legendary Darkseid.
“No matter what happens, we need to act quickly.” Robin gritted his teeth. “Let’s get these Hellspores to the Watchtower first, and deal with the Pulse issue later.”
Robin made a decisive choice. He knew that the core of Darkseid's plan was these giant bombs capable of destroying a planet. As long as these things were sent out of Earth, the latter's plan would essentially be declared a failure.
"Superboy, you and Flashboy continue to search for the Pulse. The rest of you come with me to move the Hellspores to the Watchtower."
Under Robin's command, the group immediately prepared to begin their operation.
"Boom!" A loud noise interrupted everyone's actions. Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw that a large hole had been blown open in the ceiling of the base. Accompanied by blinding sunlight, a tall figure descended from the sky.
"No wonder I couldn't get in touch with Disad and the kind grandmother."
Darkseid slowly landed on the ground. Its tall body exuded an overwhelming sense of oppression under the sunlight. Coupled with the detailed introduction in Yang Le's information, no one dared to move for a moment.
"So, they've already fallen to you." Darkseid didn't show anger at his subordinates' defeat; on the contrary, his tone even carried a hint of admiration.
"Even if they are not at their peak right now, the fact that they were able to do this is enough to prove your strength."
"I can give you two choices."
Darkseid slowly withdrew his right hand from behind his back and said, "First, join my ranks and become a member of my Dark Elite Order."
"Second, reject my goodwill and then pay the price for your arrogance."
“I have a question.” Kid Flash stretched his legs. “Have you seen a kid wearing a bodysuit and goggles?”
“You mean that kid with the Speed Force?” Darkseid recalled. “I saw him, and I gave him the same two choices, but he chose the latter.”
There's no need to say more. Since Darkseid is standing here and Pulse is nowhere to be seen, it's quite clear what happened.
"It looks like there's only one choice left."
Kid Flash put on his goggles, and the rest of the Young Justice League spontaneously assumed their fighting stances, without needing Robin's command at all.
“It seems you have made your choice.” Darkseid put his hands behind his back again. “I hate this Earth; the people and things here always disappoint me.”
"Really? Don't worry, it won't happen again." Superboy unleashed his limiter again. "Because there won't be a next time."
As soon as he finished speaking, Superboy vanished from his spot and reappeared in front of Darkseid.
With immense force, Superboy punched Darkseid right in the face.
"boom!"
This time, Superboy's punch didn't work as well as before. Darkseid raised his hand to block the former's punch, and the aftershock of their collision even shattered the floor.
Superboy didn't give up because of his temporary setback. He raised his leg to kick, but Darkseid was faster and grabbed his arm, throwing him away.
After forcing Superboy back, Darkseid turned and waved his hand, creating a storm that dispersed the arrows fired by Artemis and Red Arrow.
"Boom boom boom!"
Multiple explosive arrows detonated simultaneously. Darkseid stepped out of the smoke, completely ignoring the darts thrown by Robin and Batgirl, and slapped away the charging Kid the Lightning.
Darkseid then grabbed Roy's mechanical arm and crushed it into scrap metal with a single squeeze.
Upon seeing this, Robin immediately disarmed himself, drew his pistol, and began unleashing a barrage of fire at Darkseid's head.
