Chapter 28

"Great job Gwen! Even after all this practice, your drumming is still as powerful as ever."

After the song ended, Mary Jane looked at Gwen in surprise. It was hard to imagine how such a thin girl could have such strong endurance and explosive power. Her surprise was accompanied by joy because Gwen was the drummer of their band.

"I can do this all day long." Gwen twirled the drumsticks in her hand with a relaxed look.

"The drummer from the Midtown band can't compare to you at all." Betty curled her lips and said with some disdain.

"He's a boy, but he plays the drums so weakly. With all due respect, Gwen has blown away their dynamism."

"The main thing about a band is their performance. I believe that after watching our performance, even those old-guard members of the school will know who is the best person to perform at the dance."

Glory looked very confident, as if she had already won.

"And we have such a great practice room." Betty put her hands on her chest and looked like a lady in an old movie.

"I'm so happy I almost fainted."

"That's all thanks to Mr. Osborn's help," Mary Jane said with a smile.

Mary Jane was originally worried about finding a place for the band to practice. In her distress, she thought of Mr. Osborne's promise, so she tried to talk to Harry to see if they could rent a place. Unexpectedly, Mr. Osborne directly lent them a villa as a practice room.

"My dad said you can use this villa as you please and don't worry about damaging the things inside. It's not worth much anyway."

When Mary Jane took the key from Harry's hand, it was obvious that Harry really didn't care about this villa. Judging from his expression, if you didn't know better, you would think he was just borrowing an eraser.

Of course, although the host said so, Mary Jane and the others could not be so unscrupulous. They only practiced in the garage of the villa and rarely entered the villa.

"How's everyone's rest? If everything is fine, how about we do it again?" Mary Jane clapped her hands and suggested.

"Already ready!"

Betty and Glory agreed, while Gwen slowly raised a hand.

"Gwen?"

Mary Jane looked at Gwen puzzledly, as if she were an elementary school student who had made a mistake.

"Sorry, I have something else to do. I need to leave early." Gwen said embarrassedly
"Of course no problem." Mary Jane didn't care. It was mid-September and the homecoming dance was not until mid-October, so they had plenty of time. Besides, their previous practice was very effective, so there was no reason not to agree to Gwen's request.

"But what are you going to do? Today is Sunday and you don't have classes." Betty looked at Gwen curiously.

"Harpy is moving today, and I'm going to help."

Ever since Yang Le confessed his identity as a time traveler to Gwen, Gwen also knew that Yang Le was an undocumented illegal resident, and Gwen even complained about Yang Le.

"You actually confessed to a police officer's daughter that you were an illegal immigrant."

However, immediately afterwards, Yang Le turned into a shapeshifter right under Gwen's nose, and used the shapeshifter's ability to create a legal identity for himself along the Internet cable.

Now that he had a legitimate identity, Yang Le certainly would not choose to continue living in the sewer. He found a bank and opened a card, then used the Shapeshifter to hack into the bank system. He learned from his senior Cyborg, made a few small additions to his account, and then bought an apartment with a nice environment near Gwen's house.

After a short renovation, today was the day Yang Le moved into his new house. "Oh, harpy," Mary Jane said, looking at Gwen with a half-smile. Even Betty and Glory looked at him strangely, which made Gwen feel uneasy.

"That's it, let's not talk any more, everyone. I'm in a hurry, so I'll leave first." Gwen, feeling that the atmosphere was not right, chose to escape directly. She put away her drumsticks and ran out of the garage in a few steps, which was beyond ordinary people. She left without looking back, leaving no chance for Mary Jane and the others to tease her.

Watching Gwen fleeing in panic, Mary Jane and the others had no choice but to pack up and end their practice for today.

"Hobby, the TV in your living room is so big. It must be fun to play games on it." Peter said enviously.

"If you want to play, you can wait for the game console I bought to arrive and we can play together." Yang Le's voice came from the study. He was putting the books neatly in order on the bookshelf.

"really?"

"Of course. If you're tired from playing, you can just go to sleep. No problem."

"That's great! Thank you, hubby."

"If you knew what I was doing just now, you might not be so happy." Yang Le walked out of the study and looked at Peter who was working hard. Suddenly, he felt like he was deceiving a child.

Although it is called work, there is actually nothing to do. It is just cleaning and arranging things. Everything else has been done long ago.

"By the way, when will Gwen arrive?" Peter asked Yang Le curiously.

"You two live so close to each other, why are you asking me this question?" Yang Le looked at Peter in confusion.

"Ah? Aren't you two a couple?" Peter scratched his head and looked at Yang Le in surprise.

"Gwen and I were just putting on a show to help you. You won't forget it, will you?" Yang Le's expression was a little helpless, as if he couldn't believe that Peter had forgotten about the fake couple.

"Of course I remember this, but in the past two weeks, Gwen has been coming to see you whenever she's free. I thought you two were really together."

"That's to help Gwen get used to her powers." Of course, Yang Le couldn't say this out loud. He could only keep it to himself because Gwen had asked him not to tell anyone about her powers, so Yang Le could only keep it to himself.

As for why Gwen didn't let Yang Le tell anyone, the answer she gave was intuition. There was always a voice in Gwen's heart telling her that the fewer people who knew about her abilities, the better.

Yang Le guessed that the voice should be Gwen's spider sense. Although he didn't know why the spider sense would sound the alarm in this matter, Yang Le still chose to believe it because of the omnipotent Spider-Man.

Looking at the silent Yang Le, Peter became interested and continued to ask questions.

"Honestly, Happy, what do you think of Gwen? I can sense that Gwen has a crush on you."

"You're not even halfway through your life, and you're already caring about others?" Yang Le curled his lips. "You should pay more attention to your Mary Jane. Even I, an outsider at Central City High, know how many people are pursuing her."

"Please, Happy, don't talk about this." Peter scratched his head in pain. Ever since the last conversation with Mary Jane at Gwen's house, he thought there would be some progress. Unexpectedly, Mary Jane treated him the same as usual the next day. Peter didn't dare to ask. This was painful enough, and now he had to add a bunch of suitors. God, Peter almost fainted just thinking about it.

Yang Le looked at the painful Peter and smiled crookedly, "You kid still want to gossip about me, you are not qualified yet."

Just when Yang Le was about to torture Peter further, the doorbell suddenly rang, and Peter ran to the door as if he had seen a savior.

"The bell saved you, kid." Yang Le said with a lingering feeling.
