Conquer Europe from the West
Chapter 24 Killing the Farlane
Chapter 24 Killing the Farlane
Ryan's voice was three parts contempt and seven parts ridicule.
But for Barnard and Schneider who was standing not far behind him, this was no different from jumping directly into the face and using the ultimate skill.
Especially Barnard.
He had taken Ryan's surrender seriously before, and even the three surrender treaties on the table were drafted by him personally - the Republic's standard treaty had been changed into a mess at Ryan's request.
And these are now a joke.
On the side, Wolfe and McIver wisely raised their rifles. The sound of bullets being pushed into the receiver could be clearly heard even from more than ten meters away.
They were waiting for Ryan's order to capture the Farlan lieutenant.
The rest of the soldiers, even the lieutenant whose uniform had been stripped, were waiting.
But Ryan then said something that surprised everyone present.
He turned to look at Schneider and asked, "Second Lieutenant, has the Empire declared war on the Farlan Republic?"
Schneider's facial features, which were not very good-looking to begin with, were immediately squeezed together.
He immediately cursed: "Who still cares about this at this time...huh?"
His clenched features immediately relaxed, and Schneider's voice softened as well. "Eh... indeed, I hadn't received any notification of the Empire's declaration of war against Farlan before I set out..."
However, Ryan immediately shouted out in a voice louder than the gunshots beside him!
"Then you can't be a prisoner."
"McQuay!"
"Yes!" The young sergeant immediately stepped forward and stood behind Ryan.
"I ask you!"
"How does the Empire deal with these heavily armed criminals who invade its territory?"
McIver immediately replied, "Yes! Anyone who invades the Empire's territory with weapons will be shot on the spot once caught!"
"Then what are you waiting for!"
"Yes!"
The loud voice echoed throughout the camp.
McIver, Wolfe, and the remaining six soldiers immediately raised their rifles.
"You beast!" Bernard roared and pounced on Ryan, but it was too late.
Eight long and narrow tongues of fire filled his vision, causing him to close his eyes involuntarily.
Red light lit up around him, and the magical red light shield blocked all the bullets shot at his chest and heart.
But he had no way to move forward.
A bullet blew off the middle section of his spine, and Bernard, losing control of his legs, fell to the ground.
His eyes had now turned completely red, like a dying beast.
"Everyone, reload! Shoot!" The observer lieutenant wisely gave the order to continue shooting.
Dense, short gunshots rang out again.
But this time, the red light shield failed to protect Bernard.
Ryan stood where he was. He watched with his own eyes as Bernard was knocked to the ground, the light shield beside him was shattered, and a blood mist bloomed on his body.
He also saw that the soldiers beside him, especially soldiers like Wolfe, did not understand the original intention of giving such an order.
It’s not their fault, not everyone can understand this.
But McIver, Schneider, and the observer lieutenant understood.
Schneider immediately stepped forward and grabbed Ryan's arm with his holstered hand. "Flig! Aren't you afraid of being put on the Republic's hit list by doing this?"
"Hit list?"
Ryan glanced at the man, wondering what nonsense he was talking about.
He immediately asked back, "Hasn't I already been on their assassination list?"
"When they sent bombers to blow up our entire brigade camp last night, I was already on their assassination list."
Ryan pointed at everyone present one by one, from the privates and NCOs whose names he still couldn't remember, to Wolfe, McIver, the observer lieutenant, and finally Schneider.
"You are all on the assassination list of the Farlan devils."
Ryan paused, then continued, "Your families, your friends, your comrades, your superiors, your subordinates, those you know and those you don't know, all the people of the Empire."
"They're all on their hit list."
Ryan squatted beside Barnard's body and pulled an exquisite pistol from his belt.
He examined the pistol thoroughly, from the frame to the chamber to the magazine spring.
Then Ryan ejected the remaining bullet from the gun chamber and aimed at Schneider.
"And now."
"You said I would be on their hit list."
“It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
He tucked the pistol into his waistband, spread his arms, and motioned Schneider to look around.
Four mechanical behemoths crashed to the ground, smashing row after row of houses, and the silver-gleaming metal debris even flew hundreds of meters away.
All the houses had at least one hole blown out by the bombardment, and some could no longer recognize their original appearance.
At first, the gloomy sky had long since turned dark gray, and the natives of London would cover their noses and walk away when they saw it.
In the high temperature, the pervasive stench of corpses, the smell of blood, the incessant chirping of mosquitoes mixed with the dying cries of the wounded and sick.
Ryan's understanding of history allowed him to coin a term Schneider had never heard of: GREAT WAR.
"This is going to be a GREAT WAR, Lieutenant Schneider."
After he finished speaking, Ryan turned his gaze away and never looked at Schneider again.
He glanced at his watch and saw that twenty minutes had passed since the attack was launched.
"McQuay, take the five people over there and pack up all the paper documents you can collect and take them away. If you can't take them away, burn them on the spot."
Ryan pulled the observer lieutenant over again and pushed him next to Wolfe.
"Wolf, you and the lieutenant will go to the camp gate immediately, find Lieutenant Brinkman, and convey my orders to her and all the brothers in the regiment."
"Kill those Farlans."
"Today, we won't leave anyone behind."
"Yes! Sir!" everyone said in unison.
They split into two groups and carried out Ryan's orders as quickly as possible.
It wasn't because Ryan asked them to.
But they know they have to do it.
Schneider just looked at Ryan.
He used to be Ryan's classmate in the military academy, but at this moment he just felt that he seemed to have misjudged this careless guy all along.
I could hear endless gunfire and the enemy's cries.
Schneider mentioned to Ryan again, "Let's keep at least one officer as a prisoner. The military police can get a lot of information out of him."
But Ryan stopped him with a question.
"A bunch of cannon fodder sent to the front lines. Do you really think the Farlan leaders will tell them any important intelligence?"
"If Brigadier General Bryan asks, I'll pretend you never said that, Lieutenant."
"Don't mention this to me again."
After saying that, Ryan ignored Schneider and walked straight towards the only exit of the brigade camp.
He opened the map and found that there was no red dot inside or outside the camp.
At this moment, a row of small gold-plated characters appeared above the map.
