Conan's Exorcist Detective

Chapter 41: Living with Conan

Chapter 41: Living with Conan
"What?! Let me live at Xiaolan's house?" Haruhiko was shocked by Sonoko's words.

Just after Detective Shiratori left, Haruhiko sent a text message to Sonoko telling her that she couldn't go to the conveyor belt sushi restaurant that night, and then he started cleaning up the mess at home.

I didn't expect her to come running over before I finished working in the garden. Seeing the worry on her face, Haruhiko felt warm in his heart.

Not long after, Mao Lilan also came with Conan. It was Sonoko who told them the news.

Several people helped Haruhiko clean up the room, and by the evening it had finally been cleaned up to a rough appearance.

But looking at the completely destroyed office door, the furniture in the house was also damaged to varying degrees, and even the bed was dismantled. If Haruhiko wanted to continue living here, he would probably have to sleep on the floor.

So Sonoko then suggested that Haruhiko live at Ran's house, saying that her office was so big and he could help take care of Conan and relieve Ran's pressure.

Haruhiko was a little embarrassed: "Isn't this bad? I'd better find a hotel nearby to stay for the time being."

Mao Lilan glanced at the torn and dirty bed, and looked at Haruhiko with gentle eyes: "It's okay, Kosaka-kun, we have a lot of empty rooms at home, and you can sleep with Conan. I think you two seem to have a lot to talk about."

Conan, who was mentioned, glared at Haruhiko with dissatisfaction. It was obvious that he didn't want Haruhiko to stay at Ran Mouri's house temporarily, but he was a child and had no say in this situation.

Haruhiko thought about it and felt that since Xiaolan said so, he didn't need to worry too much. What's more, he had just taken the time to contact the insurance company, and he could only start repairs after the other party's inspection report came out. It would probably take several days, and if he stayed in the hotel all the time, it would be a considerable expense.

What's more, there is another benefit to going to Maori's house, which is that you can encounter more cases and have the opportunity to exorcise more evil spirits.

So after Haruhiko was polite a few times, he was persuaded by Suzuki Sonoko to agree to stay temporarily at Mori Ran's house.

He piled the few usable things in a room on the second floor and locked it up. He then hung a sign on the front door so that if a customer came, they could call Haruhiko. If a thief wanted to come in, he would probably leave crying because there was nothing valuable left in the house.

And so, the group left the office.

It was already dark outside at this time, and if they wanted to eat conveyor belt sushi, they would probably have to wait in line for a long time, so Haruhiko suggested going to Xiaolan's house for hot pot, and Suzuki Sonoko agreed with both hands.

Several people came to the Maori Detective Agency carrying the ingredients bought from the supermarket.

I went up the stairs to the second floor of the office. Before I even entered, I heard music coming from the TV and the voice of Kogoro Mouri shouting "Ms. Yoko".

When Ran Mouri opened the door, louder music came from inside the house. Haruhiko saw Kogoro Mouri sitting at his desk with several cans of beer on it. He had a headscarf from the Miss Yoko Support Group on his head and was shouting at Yoko Okino who was dancing on TV.

"Dad, are you drinking again?" Mao Lilan put the plastic bag containing the ingredients aside.

Maori Kogoro saw his daughter coming back and put down the can of beer in his hand: "It's Xiaolan, I'm starving, there's nothing in the refrigerator, I can only drink to fill my hunger."

"Really?" Mao Lilan came to the desk and started to clean up. "Dad, we have guests coming today, so you should pay attention to your appearance, right?"

"Guest? Is it a client?" Kogoro perked up, and saw Suzuki Sonoko at the door. "It turned out to be Sonoko. I thought it was a client."

Mao Lilan frowned and said, "It's Kosaka-kun. Kosaka-kun may have to stay at our house for a few days..."

"What?!" Before Mao Lilan finished speaking, Kogoro slammed the table and stood up, "How old are you and you brought your boyfriend to live at home? No, I have to call Yingli and ask her to discipline you."

As he spoke, Kogoro Maori reached out to grab the phone on the desk.

Mao Lilan's face darkened. She clenched her fist and pounded it hard on the corner of the desk. The huge force shook the desk phone, and the empty can on the desk overturned and slowly rolled to the floor. "Dad, can you please listen to what I'm saying?"

Maori Kogoro sat obediently in the office chair: "Okay...you say."

Xiaolan told Kogoro Mouri the whole story.

Maori Kogoro hugged his shoulders and looked unhappy: "Really, they make our house look like a charity. First, a little devil was sent here for no reason, and now another little devil comes..."

Haruhiko then handed two bottles of wine to Maori Kogoro and said, "Uncle Maori, I'm afraid I'll bother you in the next few days. I know you like drinking, so I bought a few bottles."

Kogoro took it and unwrapped it. "Is this... one of those expensive bars that are popular these days?"

"Oh, how can this be so embarrassing?" Kogoro put his arm around Haruhiko's shoulders. "Since you're Ran's classmate, there's no need to be so polite. You can stay as long as you want."

Haruhiko thought that this uncle was the one who was most similar to the original character among the people he met after traveling through time.

"Dad, could you please not be so embarrassed?" Mao Lilan snatched the wine from his hand and looked at the price tag. "Is it so expensive? No, Dad, you can't accept gifts from Kosaka-kun."

Haruhiko bought this wine secretly when the two of them weren't paying attention. He thought it would be awkward to bother them without bringing a gift.

Maori Kogoro looked resentful: "Are you my daughter or not? Why do you always side with outsiders?"

"But Kousaka-kun has already spent a lot of money on hot pot ingredients," said Ran Maori.

Maori Kogoro then saw what was in the plastic bag and said, "There's meat! I'm getting hungry now that you mentioned it. Hurry up! I want to have a big drink tonight."

As he said that, he picked up the plastic bag and the wine and ran to the kitchen.

Mao Lilan followed angrily, her small feet in cotton socks making a "dong dong" sound on the floor. Not long after, a rich meal of food was placed on the table in the living room on the third floor, and everyone sat in a circle around the table.

The pot in the middle of the table was filled with beef and bamboo shoots, bubbling with steam, and the rich aroma of meat filled the air.

Maori Kogoro raised his glass and said, "Well, let's celebrate Kousaka coming to stay at our house. Cheers!"

"Dad, why do you say that? That kind of thing only happens in Kousaka-kun's family..." Mouri Ran smiled embarrassedly at Haruhiko.

At this time, Haruhiko also raised his glass. Of course, the three of them were not old enough to drink yet, so the glass was filled with iced cola. "It's okay, Mori-kun, just consider it a loss to avoid disaster."

Everyone raised their glasses, and the glasses made crisp sounds when they clinked.

"cheers!"

The small space on the third floor of Maori Office is filled with laughter and joy.

...

Nothing happened in the next few days. Haruhiko went to school during the day and returned to the Mori office at night, living the life of an ordinary high school student.

And because Conan, the jealous king of East Asia, was keeping a close eye on him, he did not have any contact with Ran Mouri that went beyond the boundaries of friendship.

However, Conan has been very tired these days. It seems that this little kid is staring at him every moment. Once, when Haruhiko went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he just opened the door and saw Conan staring at Haruhiko through the crack of his room door. After a few days, this little kid almost got dark circles under his eyes.

Someone from the insurance company also came to see the extent of the damage to the office and said that it would take a few days to give a result. But judging by the way they were frowning frequently, it was estimated that the final amount of compensation would not be too much.

Haruhiko also took the time to visit Yuta Manaka's home. He felt that this matter might be related to Yuta, but he came to nothing.

Mrs. Manaka said that Yuta went to Nagano Prefecture to relax with his friends and it would probably take a few days for him to come back.

This further confirmed the possibility that Yuta was related to the yakuza gang. Haruhiko felt that Manaka Yuta must have been hiding, fearing revenge from him.

Since Yuta is hiding, it means that the yakuza will attack again. He will not show up until Haruhiko completely surrenders and no longer poses a threat to Yuta.

Haruhiko also waited patiently. He felt that he should at least make this group of people pay the damages to the repair office.

This afternoon, I had just finished practicing with the Kendo Club.

Haruhiko was changing his shoes in front of the shoe cabinet when a fragrant breeze came from behind him and someone patted his shoulder.

He looked back and saw Suzuki Sonoko jumping up behind him.

Sonoko had just finished practice and changed her clothes. Under her pleated skirt were a pair of long white legs wrapped in black stockings. There was still a faint blush on her face after exercise, and the strands of hair by her ears were stuck together by sweat.

She is truly the high school girl with the strongest youthful aura.

Yuanzi blushed and glared at him: "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing." Haruhiko closed the shoe cabinet door and put his bamboo sword on his back. "What's going on?"

Yuanzi lowered her head and looked at the tip of her shoes: "Do you have anything to do tonight?"

"Apart from accompanying Uncle Mori and listening to him tell secrets about Miss Yoko, there should be nothing else to do," said Haruhiko.

Yuanzi smiled happily. The setting sun shone through her hair onto her small earlobe, like a piece of charming amber. "That's great. Xiaolan and I are going to the cooking class tonight. Do you want to come with us?"

"I'm going to learn how to cook too?" Haruhiko was stunned.

He has no interest in cooking, mainly because he finds it troublesome, so he often goes to a nearby ramen restaurant to solve his food and clothing problems. Recently, after he became familiar with the uncle in the ramen restaurant, he found that the uncle seemed to be trying to introduce him to a girlfriend.

"No, there are only two students, Xiaolan and I," said Sonoko, "but you can eat free food. My cooking skills have improved a lot recently."

Haruhiko thought about it and thought, if he remembered correctly, there seemed to be a case in the cooking class...

His eyes suddenly flashed with desire, scaring Suzuki Sonoko so much that she took a few steps back.

"Why do I feel like you want to eat me?" Sonoko crossed her arms over her chest, but she didn't have as strong pectoral muscles as Ran Mouri, so there was no visual effect of being squeezed and deformed.

Haruhiko smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'm very picky about food. If we have to eat, Suzuki-san should be ranked behind Conan."

"Damn it, you bastard!" Yuanzi rushed up and grabbed his ear.
